Good food but won’t recommend going in winter. We were a group of 6 and had a table downstairs closer to the main door. Whole place was quite cold so had the dinner with winter coats on 🙁 couldn’t really enjoy the authentic food that was served… service was good. Just need to sort out the heating to make it a cosier place,

Fantastic place. Lovely ambience, great food, friendly staff. Cocktails worth the price, nice and strong and very tasty. Food also good value for money, plenty of tasty options to choose from. Can't wait to come back! Best place I have ever eaten out at in Huddersfield.

We absolutely screwed up....thought we'd booked for the night, but had booked for two weeks in the future!! Whoops!! All staff bent over backwards to accommodate us, the service was exceptional to accommodate our mistake. Food was blissful, service cracking, and generally a really nice place to be 😁😁

I just absolutely love this place!! It is without doubt the best restaurant in Huddersfield for me. If you haven’t been then try it! The blonde girl running the place (whenever I have dined) is a fantastic host and the chefs produce some amazing food. I’ve always enjoyed what I have here - I would definitely recommend everyone tries one of the salads as they are so tasty! The drinks selection is also great, I had the fresh juice which was really refreshing.

We had a wonderful meal here this evening. The food was delicious, the staff were very attentive and we will definitely be visiting again. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing food. We had such a great time. Good selection of both food and drink. Only slight down side was that they offer cocktails and when we went in the other tables all seemed to order cocktails which took up a lot of the waiting staffs time. Highly recommended and would definitely visit again.

The braised pork shoulder is unreal, one of the best meals I've had.

Back to the wonderful Cafe Mandalay for the first time since they reopened and it was as amazing as we remember. Lovely food, welcoming staff and refreshing cocktails (definitely needed this evening as the temperature was off the scale!) We started with our favourite starter on the menu- Street Food Taster.

I visit this place a lot since I work right next to it. I have to say the service is always fantastic and they keep the place well kept regularly. Rates are affordable and they serve large portions.

It has the nice comfortable vibe of more than a cafe but not a formal restaurant and it sits well with the decor and menu. We had the street food tasting share plater to start (so keen to get tucking in forgot photo) which was really good and glad we chose it. We especially loved the little pasties with duck curry in them.

I had the chickpea curry with the paneer added and my wife had the prawn dish. We both also had a flatbread.To finish we shared the lime and ginger cheesecake.All the food was excellent, really tasty with good spices. We both enjoyed everything we had, including the beer fro Three Friends Brewhouse.The staff were really friendly and we really enjoyed our visit all for just over a reasonable £66.We will definitely visit again and again

I came back to this restaurant after 2 years! Must say service has changed a lot since in a good way! Staffs were polite and quick in serving. Very chilled atmosphere. Would definitely recommend the starter platter. Portion size is pretty good! We took the advantage of the eat out to help out scheme! So definitely good pricing for us!

First time sampling Burmese food and very impressed with the variety, quality and value. Really enjoyed trying most of the menu and couldn't fault the food or the service. We will be back.

Best food in Huddersfield, recommend the pickled tea leaf salad. Well worth a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Tamarind Prawns is a generous portion of amazing tender prawns cooked in a delicious Tamarind curry sauce with Pak Choi.We also had the Duck Curry which was braised boneless duck in a fragrant Masala sauce. This was absolutely delicious- plenty of meat in a spicy seasoned sauce with stir fried greens and boiled rice. We ended the evening by sharing our favourite dessert here- Lime and Ginger Cheesecake. The base is sticky and delicious with a lovely flavour of ginger topped with sweet creamy lime cream cheese. The homemade icecream of the day was coconut but we also had a bowl of their gorgeous chocolate brownie icecreamFor cocktails we had Mojito, Singapore Sling, Red Lotus, Mai Tai and Rangoon ColadaA hot but enjoyable evening, so glad they are back open serving their delicious food!

The food was different to the norm, and it was also freshly made and really lovely. Everything was excellent, from the food to the drinks , and also friendly staff. We'll definitely be going there again in the near future.

It was quiet on a Friday and we ordered the Mandalay udon noodles aka meeshay.Burmese tea and bae thar mont. All delicious. Service with a smile as always.

Excellent food, great service, relaxed pleasant atmosphere - highly recommended!We booked on a whim - we had thought about Indian as there are many in Huddersfield (we were visiting for the weekend) - but decided to try Burmese for a change. We were not disappointed - lovely balance of Thai, Indian and Chinese, not surprisingly - with a nice "kick" and plenty of flavour.

We asked to have all the salads as a take out for Christmas Day! Picked them up on Christmas Eve despite them having a full day. They were an absolute hit. The salads were wonderful, Thank you so much Cafe Mandalay

First visit and won't be the last! The food is fabulous, food presentation was great! Very tasty and great prices! The environment is warming and decor is nice. Friendly staff. Highly recommend! I will be back.

What a superb gem and much needed quality eaterie in Huddersfield. I lunched here with a friend mid January and we were blown away by the delicious tasty and different dishes. Not everywhere can cater so well for vegetarian and vegans. Mandalay surpassed our expectations & we are quite hard to please. We are still talking about it and can’t wait for a return visit. Thoroughly recommend if you’re looking for fresh, tasty and delicious dishes. Well done, see you soon 🙏

Another fabulous meal last night. Visited for dinner with friends. As well as the delicious food we enjoyed great friendly service and it was so reasonably priced. Four people, three courses each, bottle of wine and a few beers all for around £150. So good. Love this place!

This place is just lovely. Been twice now and the food, service and general ambience/decor is excellent. We shared the street food taster platter to start with followed by mushroom curry and chicken/coconut on the first visit. Had a salad each last night followed by chickpea curry and braised pork shoulder. The food is absolutely delicious, portion size just right, service excellent and all for a good price. Both visits went mid week evening, and no problem getting a table. This is our new go to place...deffo worth a visit if you're in the mood for dinner that's just a little different.

Wonderful well worth a visit, we went early on Saturday evening and it was full, luckily we had booked a table. We had mixed starter which was beautifully presented and delicious. For main we had prawns, beef, mushroom parcel all were excellent, goof portion size, a bit spicy but then again I think a korma is spiced so maybe not for most. Service fantastic, they couldn’t do enough for you, wonderful, we will be back

This place is an absolute hidden gem If you’re a fan of authentic quality and tasty food this is the place for you The staff were fantastic throughout our whole meal I would give this place a 10 out of 10

The food was great, couldn't fault any of it. Had the mixed starter, the pork (asked for chillies and to be spicy and was delicious!) The others had the king prawns... all food was 200%!!! Thank you for a lovely lunch!

I heard great reports and we thought we will give it a try, the menu has plenty of choices for vegans. we started with the mix platter which we absolutely loved especially the chickpea tofu!!!! , for mains we ordered fish and braised pork shoulder which i felt it lacked in flavour. The service was excellent and sufficient. We will go back and try something else next time.

We went as a group of 8 for a family meal. The service was very friendly and attentive and the food delicious. We all enjoyed the mixed starters (especially the ginger salad, and the quail eggs) and mains were spicy tasty but not too hotspicy or salty. The handmade icecream which came with the desserts was lovely. And then the coffee..., it was so good I have now ordered some for home, thank you for getting me the details.

Great venue, friendly staff and all three courses were lovely and different.All 8 of us (three generations) each had different and tried each others. Highly recommend and will revisit.

Never been before I had crispy Duck salad perfect light meal to hove before going to a concert .will definitely go again

Delicious food. Every item on the menu sounded wonderful. We opted for the two course early bird at lunch time. It was great value. My son said it was the best crunchy chicken he has ever tasted. Star lost just because it was cold inside. Almost bordering on having to keep your coat on. Brrr!

We had a reunion get together and booked for 9 at lunch time. The food was delicious, the staff were so attentive and friendly, and the bill was very reasonable.

This is a lovely restaurant, serving a good range of food for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans. The flavours transported us back to our trip to Burma two years ago. We’ll definitely be dining here again.

I had lunch here and was so pleasantly surprised. Really interesting menu and nicely executed. The decor is really sweet and a breath of fresh air on Kings Street. If you fancy an interesting lunch for a catch up chat I think it’s a lovely spot. Relaxed service which is sometimes quite nice when you’re not in a rush. I’ll definitely be going again soon.

Nice, new intimate casual dining restaurant. Small menu done exceptionally well. Great choice and variation including fish, meat and vegan options. Good value.

Great little find in the centre of Huddersfield. Don’t go off the looks of the place. We liked it here because you can have either a full meal or little bites. Whichever you choose you won’t be disappointed.

Absolutely fantastic food and service! Had a fantastic bottle of white wine with the street food starters which were excellent along with the fish curry. Highly recommend.

I cannot rate the food here highly enough. Exquisite flavours, good sized portions and tender chicken. I had a chicken thigh curry dish which was sublime, hubby had a noodle dish, we shared a side of spicey fries and washed it down with pints of San Miguel. Pleasant, informal setting and attentive, friendly staff. Couldn't believe it wasn't busier. Avoid the chains and go here, you won't be disappointed if you enjoy flavour. If we had been in the area longer than a day, we would have returned to try other things.

Booked for a pre theatre meal as the restaurant is a two minute walk from Lawrence Bately Theate. We enjoyed fantastic food including the Mandalay street food sharing platter and then Mandalay meeshay with pulled duck and coconut chicken noodle soup which were all superb . The service was friendly and efficient and the cafe has a trendy clean and comfortable feel even in a Tuesday at 6pm . We are not locals , so unlikely to be this way again although I would be tempted to return just to eat here. Fabulous

Great little place. Had the mixed street food taster to start which was very good followed by one steak main and the pork belly curry. Both were very nice and really fresh tasting, both meats were cooked well. Great little restaurant, certainly worth a visit.

Excellent meal tonight. We had the early bird meal which was good value. The salad served with the starter was absolutely delicious. The mains were tasty and different from anything I have had before. All round very good, pleasant staff and very clean place. We will go again.

Wow, amazing authentic food, tasty, different to the usual, great service, friendly staff, wonderful setting and decor. We absolutely loved it here and will be back very soon. I had the coconut chicken soup which was huge, filling and satisfying. I could taste every single ingredient it was a pleasure to eat. The slaw side was delightful, refreshing and interesting. My partner got the duck udon noodles and scoffed the lot, making nothing but noises of pleasure along the way! A little gem of a place. Do something different and try Cafe Mandalay before the word gets around and you have to book 3 months on advance!

Just the most freshest tasting food and flavours, beautifully presented. The pickled ginger salad was just amazing and the pulled duck noodles......well, it certainly won’t be my last visit.......topped off with tiny pretty flowers in my G &T....top; marks Cafe Mandalay!

Visited recently as part of a group for a banquet meal. Food was excellent, plentiful, and with lots of different items. The service was superb, despite the fact that we were in the room upstairs . Very good value and highly recommended

Lovely clean restaurant food was freshly cooked and tasted beautiful

Wanting a special meal we opted for Mandalay and were not disappointed. Booking was confirmed in advance via email although I suspect you could just turn up during midweek. The venue was bright and airy with low background music (great playlist). Service was excellent and we were happy to be shown around the menu as this was our first taste of Burma. We opted for the street food platter for 2 to start which included quail, salad of choice plus other dishes. The highlight being the quails egg in pancake(?). Main course included fish curry, a generous halibut steak, and a chicken dish. Dessert was home-made ice cream. Fabulous food, great staff and definitely a little bit different.

A really nice restaurant. A nice interior and great food. The beef with potatoes was really good. Also the lemongrass and ginger cheesecake is the nicest cheesecake in the world. I would definitely recommend!

Just a perfect little place with good food. The staff is wonderful. Vegan-options and great looking food. The presentation is astonishing. No wonder the have won Food porn-awards.

When we arrived we were told that the kitchen was super busy because of a large party upstairs and there would be a 45 minute wait for food - which is never an issue if you're told about it beforehand. Despite the place being very busy, service was attentive, quick, and when the food did come out to us, it was clear that the kitchen was not rushing anything and putting quality first. Really, really good and would definitely recommend.

We enjoyed the starter so much. It came with tea leaves salad, tofu, fried white bait and other treats. Main meal was also fantastic with vegetable option for our group.

Cafe Mandalay is an all-round amazing restaurant with its great customer service and competitive price, and they could pull this off with an interestingly delicious take on Burmese food. A strong candidate to become one of your favourite places in Huddersfield!

Service is pleasant, and the restaurant is located in a nice area, but that's all to it. The food is disappointing in taste, and, in addition, rice served with the food is little and hence I would say expensive for the price paid. The quantity of the main dishes is ok, but the side dishes not that much. We had gone there with high hopes but food is disappointing. Ambience is nice, though.

Visited the restaurant after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and I can only mirror the positive feedback that has already been said. The service was excellent, the food was the same, thank you. I would highly recommend a visit.

No tablecloths, just a cafe as said, but great menu of foreign foods. Also good offers on an extensive cocktail list. Very good value for money.

Popped in with 3 mates having never been before and we were all chuffed we did ! Service was fantastic ( such a rarity these days ) . Food was so tasty , lots of fresh flavours . Only a small place but that defo adds to the charm .

Very good, sums up this place in my opinion, like many others writing reports my expectations were very high as there is a great deal of hype around this restaurant at the moment. I most certainly wasn't disappointed as the food was very good, as was the service, but I wasn't as blown away as many previous report writers have been. Definitely worth a visit, maybe to be fair Burmese food is not to my taste. The mixed street food starter, was very good and is a true mixture of tastes and textures, I would recommend this. We shared one main course, the Mandalay chicken curry, again this is a tasting as with all curries, but I would barely describe this as curry. I asked the waiter if this was a traditional Burmese dish, she replied yes, for the more financially challenged. To me it was far too dominated by tomato, which hid any of the other traditional spices that should be in this dish. Nonetheless very efficient, lovely staff and an interesting environment, worth a try. Just wanted to provide some alternative perspective to the glowing reports I read.

Amazing tastes and combinations. Georgeous food served by charming your waiting staff. Street starter followed by delicious tasting prawn tamarind curry. Deserts were a sweet tasty dream to finish. Reasonable prices great atmosphere

Previously heard lots of good reports, so expectations were high, friendly staff, interesting types of GnT, delicious dishes not tasted before. Pork casserole was really tasty, and the cheesecake was a yummy finish. If you’re in town make sure you visit.

Having never tried Burmese food before, myself and my partner loved it! The food was tasty portions were generous and the staff were great too. We will definitely pay another visit when we're next in Huddersfield

My visit was amazing. Lovely people, amazing food and fantastic service. Plus location is great ,which is in town center.Short walking distance from car park.would definitely go there again. Strongly recommend if you have never tried Burmese food before.

Took some friends here for dinner who had never been and they loved it. The staff are polite and friendly and the food tastes so fresh. We ordered a main meal each then shared a salad and their coleslaw (which was spicy and amazing!). Would highly recommend it for something different, healthy and fresh. The vegan icecream was good too!

We visited Cafe Mandalay in the hottest day of the year, so glad we made the effort and didn’t just stay at home and melt.

We had been meaning to go here for ages but don’t venture into town very often, we had an optician’s appointment and decided to try here on the spur of the moment- so glad we did, it’s a long time since I have had such tasty food - wonderful flavours. We shared the platter starter, my husband was turning his nose up at tofu BUT it tasted lovely as did everything else. We had a chicken and prawn curry and again these were the best I have tasted in a long time or ever! Will definitely be back - just wish it wasn’t in the town centre.

Went for a lunch with a family party of 11 of us after a graduation at the Huddersfield University Hall. We had pre-ordered the meals and to be honest we were unsure about the level of spice flavors the different meals would contain. We were not disappointed it was wonderful and we ended up with a total of 11 empty plates at the finish.

What an amazing place. Super delicious food made with fresh ingredients and a fantastically friendly and attentive service.
