Excellent breakfast. We had two mediums. They were tasty and good quality ingredients. Service was friendly and quick. Really good value for money.

I went here on Saturday to have a breakfast while I waited for my car to be MOT'd across the road. I had a breakfast for £7 which was amazing (and possibly underpriced imo). The ingredients are butcher's quality, even something as simple as the mushrooms were full of flavour. No stupid ramekins either, lol. Best breakfast I have had for years tbh. The Staff are really friendly, and helpful. The cafe itself is a pleasant place to be. Loads of parking too. Highly recommended

We ordered from UberEats. Absolutely horrendous. Food was stale and cold, presentation was messy and looked like it had been thrown together. Expensive for stale bread and cheese. Nearly £5 for stale toast, cheese and cherry tomatoes chopped up on top of it. Can't imagine they'll keep much custom for very long having just 'take over'.

Ordered a chicken and bacon wrap with salad within a meal deal. The girl working front of house doesn’t have a clue what’s she’s doing, salad isn’t included, and I didn’t even get my drink until asking after waiting 15 minutes. Worst of all she didn’t even put through the order to the kitchen. Then waited around 10-15 minutes after until my lunch arrived, to my surprise receive a stale wrap, stone cold and falling apart. I’ve had many experiences with having lunch at the Malt but the service now is awful.

Having dropped my car off for a service, I popped into a café recommended at the car garage, the cafe is called Cafe Malt. I ordered a full English, wow, it was fantastic, unlike other cafe’s, this one is serving premium bacon, Cumberland sausages, fresh mushrooms etc, a tasty treat! The price and portions were both very good, with a range of breakfasts, baguettes, wraps, salads etc with excellent service! I would highly recommend Cafe Malt when in Burton.

I'm not sure why this place has a few poor reviews... utter crap. The food is always hot, delicious, fresh... and the staff are far from rude? Maybe try being polite to them. You might just get it back! Phil, Lucy, and the team are all lovely people and Café Malt is my go-to place in Burton.

The hotel my boyfriend and I stayed at did not serve breakfast, so we found this lovely little cafe on Google maps. Very glad we did because the full English breakfast here is lovely and service was friendly. The cafe is tucked away and not the easiest to find but popular with local workers, a real hidden gem!

We needed to find somewhere to eat after finding out the hotel we were staying in in Burton did not offer breakfast, and we discovered this hidden gem just a short distance away. Tucked away between old industrial buildings, this is more than just a workman's café - it's only a little building with about four tables inside, but the staff are very friendly and the food was amazing and great value for money. Our breakfasts were perfect and featuring locally sourced produce, and the portions were just the right size. As well as breakfasts the café does sandwiches and even pizzas, and there were delivery orders heading out all the time so it is clearly popular with Burtonians. We will definitely be visiting again next time we're in town.

A friendly welcome awaits visitors to the Cafe Malt, followed by swift service and tasty, well prepared food. Both hot and cold dishes are prepared to order, so are invariably fresh and delicious.I can unreservedly recommend Cafe Malt; if you are in that part of Burton, pop in and try something from the extensive menu for yourself.

This little cafe is a life line for workers in the local area who rely on good, homemade food at a competitive price. The footfall they deal with daily says it all & is sometimes immense for a small establishment & the girls work incredibly hard to please everybody & do a fantastic job under the circumstances. As for the negative comments....I'd love to see them do any better.

This place caters for several hundred employees of a densely packed work place and most likely has one of the highest footfalls of any place on Burton. If I ran a business like this I would insist on delivering the best but they rely on high numbers of people not being bothered to go anywhere else, as it's about a 10 min (probably longer) walk to another cafe. Quality is not great and for what you get it is over priced. Supermarket sandwiches are better and not much more. Not worth a trip unless you're desperate.

Service and quality of food remain of an excellent standard at the Malt Cafe. The two or three members of staff prepare each item to order; nothing is pre-prepared, and hence quality remains high, and the food always fresh. If a rush of customers means that there is sometimes a short wait, this is a tribute to the success of what is offered; not something to be criticised. The cafe is open for 7 hours per day, and is is not difficult to find time when you will be the only customer, as I usually am during my daily visit. The large variety of items on the menu allows a regular diner to have a completely different snack/meal each working day for a month; others prefer their own regular choice, with just on occasional change. The last thing that the Malt cafe needs is an air conditioner; most of the customers work in the adjacent sterile air conditioned offices, and it is a pleasure to encounter a small oasis of character, and yes, sometimes it does get hot in there, but that should not deter anyone from trying the food on offer.

The service is always slow the food is boring they never change the menu. Also in summer they don't have air conditioning how they get away with it I will never know., When it is hot I do not go in.

As a regular at Cafe Malt since it opened, its standards have remained high, but prices have remained low, and it represents excellent value. It has built up a substantial regular clientele who work in the adjacent office accommodation, or in nearby commercial units. If you are looking for a snack and are in this part of town, give Cafe Malt a try... you will not be disappointed.

We visited Willows (previously Tutbury Tearooms) for lunch. There was a good selection of meals, snacks and drinks on the menu, although there didn’t seem to be a children’s menu. The cafe was comfortable and nicely decorated. The food was nice, but very expensive. £9.75 for a jacket potato with cheese (plus £1.50 for each additional topping) is far too much!!! My son had two potato waffles with grated cheese and baked beans, which cost £9.99!!! We left feeling negative due to this and are unlikely to return.

Being back in Burton for another pub crawl we thought we would look this place up again for probably the last time as it is due to close at the end of October in an act of complete vandalism by Molson Coors, showing a total lack of respect for brewing history by planning to redevelop the site for offices. Have these people no morals or respect? Clearly not. As for the tap room and restaurant itself, it’s a fairly sterile corporate affair but at least the hanging pub signs in the restaurant section does try and give it a bit of character. And in my experience the bar staff serving behind the bar have always given the impression that they are suffering for their profession and would rather be somewhere else. Although cannot comment on the food as we have never eaten here and again were only here for the tap bar bit, but can certainly pass judgement on the ale and in that respect the beer was very good, but then you would expect it to be as it is the official tap bar for the Heritage Brewery, embedded in the National Brewery Centre next door, and they don’t have to travel very far. The Tap bar has six hand pumps and for our visit these were dispensing the Heritage Brewery Masterpiece IPA, Heritage Gold, Charrington IPA and Oatmeal Stout as well as Draught Bass and Elgood black dog on as a guest. I went for the Oatmeal Stout. It is not one of the best tap rooms I have ever visited, but it is probably one of the most famous, so I will be very sad to see it go, if this act of vandalism is allowed to proceed by the local council and the local MP. If it is then the very soul of Burton on Trent will go with it.

Very poor meal, Ham salad looked like someone put a bag of lettuce from the supermarket and a bit of very cheap ham. Bread roll inedible. When I mentioned to server, got a blank look and “do you want another roll” No I wanted a decent ham salad. Clearly no qualified chef or staff with any responsibility. Don’t bother eating here. Waste of money.
