Only went in here because WHSmiths the other side had a sign saying back in 5 minutes, got charged £5.20 for a bottle of pepsi max and 2 bars of chocolate, never again!

Only stopped between trains, but have experienced MUCH worse. The staff were extremely polite and helpful and by jacket potato with tuna to takeaway was exactly what I requested. So often, when requesting that, what you get is a jacket potato with runny tuna mayo, which is not to my taste. Would've been nice with a bit of coleslaw or salad, but perhaps that would be available if requested. Was in a hurry, so didn't ask. Very reasonably priced too, for a railway station!

Have used this a couple of times now and it hasn't improved or deteriorated. Distinctly middle of the road, coffee is wet, warm and there's a bit of flavour but the cakes/muffins are distinctly dry. No litter bins or tray depository to place used items so it does get difficult when busy. Service is ok - but then it's only over the counter after all. Be warned it can take some time so keep an eye on that train time!!

Was on my way to northwich and popped in cafe express for a snack. The female member of staff was very friendly and delivered good customer service. I had a cappuccino and a croissant which was very nice. The only bad thing I could say is it is a little expensive.

Popped in for a quick takeaway before the train arrived. Lady serving was polite, very friendly & professional. Food was good. Recommended all round.

With half an hour between trains yesterday I wanted a snack and a coffee. Cafe Express was handy. Service was pleasant, polite and efficient. The coffee was thin. The bap was tasteless white bread. Sausage in it was of low quality. Tables still had rubbish and marks on. Go elsewhere.

I go here roughly once a week whilst changing train in Chester of a morning. The coffee is nice but that is the only compliment I'll give them. I wouldn't recommend the bacon sandwich and the appear to use the fattiest bacon and seems to have been boiled rather than fried! They never seem to have any selection of decent pastries either despite having a rack on the counter for them! As for the staff, most of them are good and helpful but there are a handful who couldn't give a damn. One in particular handed me the coins of my change and rather than waiting for me to put it in my wallet before handing me the £5 note he just threw it on the counter and turned away! Definitely not service with a smile!

Unfortunately Costa was closed for refurbishment when I went through yesterday so I went to Cafe Express on Platform 3 instead. Staff seemed completely unco-ordinated and disinterested. When I realised that there was quite a lot of coffee running down the outside of my cup I asked them for a 'sleeve' to put it in; they told me the 'sleeve' was part of the cup and actually had to be prompted to give me another cup to slip the first one into. "We're no supposed to", they said. Maybe not, but you *are* actually supposed to get the coffee into the cup in the first place. Come back Costa, I won't be bothering with this pale imitation in the future.

Absolute insult to commuters going through Chester. Ordered a bacon and sandwich and large hot drink 'deal' for £5. Bacon was horrific and to paired with the bread, seemed to be the lowest standard possible. Please go somewhere else, don't be taken in by the staffs charms and tasty looking advertisements! Tea was okay though.

We were waiting on a connecting train at the Chester Station and needed to grab a quick lunch so we popped into Café Express to buy some sandwiches and drinks. They had an interesting selection of bread items so we bought a Cheese Ploughman’s and an egg mayo with tomato and rocket sandwich along with a juice and a merlot. There were a few tables outside so we sat down to eat. Barely edible is the only way to describe it. Both sandwiches were dry and lacking much content. We often find this is the case with many of these station outlets. Gone are the days of proper refreshment rooms and establishments that serve proper wholesome food to satisfy hungry travelers. Counter service was okay but it was weird having to ask for napkins that were kept behind the counter and only provided if you requested. We had to leave from this same station a second time during our trip and we avoided this Café altogether. Buying something from the carts on the train would be much better than getting a sandwich from this shop.

Cold. No atmosphere. Terrible halloumi sandwich with barely anything inside it. Expensive and won’t be visiting again.

Definitely worth a choice if in the area, cafe was clean and tidy and the food was fine. Was busy but that didn’t affect the service. Staff were really helpful and pleasant by far one of the better m&s cafes. This place seems to have two though the one downstairs doesn’t serve hot food

Click and collect team are useless. Book a time slot, never ready, even though you get a text to say ready. Complaining gets you know where. So will switch shops going forward. Worst customer service experience from anywhere
