Just went here to meet a group of my colleagues for something to eat and was told that they were doing takeaway only .I asked if they had changed the closing time as it was only 3pm and she replied that they were closing early as it had been quiet ! I ordered a takeaway coffee and phoned friends to change cafe .Photo is of the large cappuccino! Half a cup of cold coffee. Don't bother going here lots more lovely coffee shops close by.

Went here for a late valentines brunch date with my partner. With a lovely atmosphere and tasteful music playing this was the perfect setting for our breakfast. The food was made to order in front of us and tasted delicious! The coffee was excellent. Staff made us feel very welcome and we’re kind and funny. 10/10 would recommend :D

Came into Cafe Du Jour for a visit with a friend, as soon as I walked through the door I was greeted with a very welcoming hi! and friendly smile from the young girl at the register. I ordered coffee and it was brought to the table within 5 minutes. Excellent service and great tasting coffee, will definitely be revisiting.

Overpriced cafe with zero customer service. Food was late & we had to remind the waitress twice of our order. When she finally served it the food was cold and clearly had sat on the kitchen counter for a while. My breakfast looked like someone’s leftovers - 4 small (I mean literally tiny) burnt mushrooms, the fried eggs were almost synthetic looking, my husband’s scrambled eggs were far too runny. The coffee tasted of a foul cigarette butt (disgusting!). We had ordered & paid for a slice of cake which never arrived. On reminding the waitress, she said they were busy and would be served when she gets a chance. 40mins later we gave up and walked out of the cafe - still without our slice of cake that we paid for. If I had seen the reviews earlier I wouldn’t have wasted money & time in this place.

Can’t believe I’m writing this. As I was paying, the waitress/chef dried a side plate with the back of her leopard print leggings and continued to use it to put salmon on for a customer! The food we ordered had many items missing e.g hash browns and mushrooms missing. Scrambled egg was so watery the thought of eating it now makes me want to vomit. Overall, I wish I’d never eaten at this overpriced cafe. The hygiene really needs to be looked out!!!!

Sat in the establishment for no more than 20 minutes (with a coffee and breakfast already purchased) before an unhappy waiter tried to pressure us into ordering more. His grumpiness was unsubtly hidden by his passive-aggressive demeanour. Extra star awarded because of my innate respect for the French.

Sat down and ordered a coffee and then 10 minutes later went up to the counter to order a breakfast, spending around a tenner. Apparently this isn’t an acceptable amount to spend for a 20 minute stay as not 2 minutes after I ordered my breakfast, the male waiter (who had already been passive aggressive to my boyfriend who dared to ask for the wifi) came and questioned why I wasn’t ordering anything else. Very patronising and aggressive towards a paying customer. Then, only another 2 minutes later another employee came and pressed me for an order and said she’d been instructed to get me to order something else. I had to go up to check if my earlier order had been put through the till as it was baffling to me that breakfast and a drink wouldn’t be enough, and I got rudely told that it had been. The breakfast itself was a total rip off with three tiny ends of a loaf of bread (clearly they had ran out and failed to replace) and some undercooked scrambled egg. No one else in the cafe was treated with this contempt, and I feel it was on the basis that we were young students. As someone who works in hospitality myself, I understand the pressures waiters face but on a Sunday morning where most the tables in the cafe were empty, there was no excuse for the arrogant manner in which the waiters acted and there was no reason for paying customers to be treated in this way. Overpriced and poor customer care. Don’t come here if you want to be treated with respect.

Sorely disappointed with this place. Long wait time and when arrived bacon was thick and rubbery, and generally the half tomato unimaginatively presented. Dish was very bland and I struggled to eat any. If I am to spend £9 on a bacon and avocado baguette I would expect high quality tasty meat. I don't think they have the right cooking facilities to cater for cooked breakfasts, they were being cooked on one sorry stove behind the counter. In my opinion the food was sub standard.

Nice atmosphere. Good coffee. Very expensive! Coffee, one slice of coffee cake and a fizzy drink £9.50! The drink also stated it was from a multi-pack and not for resale. The coffee price was displayed but not the cake and fizzy drink. Such a shame to overprice/hide prices. We won’t be back.

Arrived around 11:00 on a Sunday and wasnt overly busy at this stage with tables available outside in nice seating area. Clearly new untrained staff but to be expected in theses times. Menu arrived after 15mins and coffee order after further 10mins and delivered after a further 15 mins. No apologies for wait. Food order taken and arrived at 12;20. One table had bacon on the vegan breakfast option and another left after an hours wait for food cancelling their order as they had to get to work. Long queues for coffees with manager shouting at his staff. Food was okay but overpriced for what it was. At least the sun was shining out back and we weren’t in any hurry. No apologies or acknowledgement offered at any time by staff. Hardly a professional cafe. Manager/owner needs a to seriously sort his act out… surprised still in business.

The waiter was lovely but was very clearly understaffed as he was alone serving the entire age, and then only 2 other other members of staff doing all the cooking and drink making. Very long wait for food but apologetic about it. English breakfast was good and good amounts of salmon in other dishes but underwhelming aside from that. Good coffee and tea but also long wait on drinks, pastries and baked good liked good but no vegan options as advertised when we visited. Also menu is very different in person to online, but still had a range of options. Shakshuka had no sauce - was just onions and tomatoes with eggs on top? Also no pesto on one of the toast dishes but not sure whether that was due to misunderstanding when ordering or if it was just forgotten. If we realised how long the wait would be we probably would not have gone there. Definitely need more staff, especially on a bank holiday, as it’s just not fair to have one person serving the entire cafe - wish we had gotten his name as he was lovely. Will probably not come back which is disappointing as the cafe seems like it could be good if fully staffed.

Had herbals teas, coffee and fresh orange juice. Staff could do with some listening skills., asked for honey with toast and gave jam instead. Coffee and teas were the only good items. Orange juice tasted like gone off lemon juice. I can forgive the poor...

Nice style, decent food, but the staff could do with greeting people properly when they arrive and adding in a few 'pleases' into the equation. Call me old fashioned. I got a blank look from the staff when I stood at the counter and expected...

We've been visiting Cafe du Jour almost every day for coffee since its opening some years ago. We were thrilled to hear that they were expanding to provide a Bistro style restaurant in the evening. We were not disappointed, great atmosphere, good menu - something...

This is a new place on me, although I don't get to Bristol too often these days. Well laid out, nice feel, fresh food. The Croque Monsieur (well it is a French cafe!) came with salad or egg (scrambled or fried). I had the salad...

I have visited this place a few times to meet up with friends. I often find their cakes are either too stodgy or too dry. Their fresh mint tea and chocolate torte are however always nice. At my last visit, I was left not being...

Coffee the French would be proud of. Flakey croissants, crisp bacon, fantastic lunchtime salads. A must at any time of day!

Branch in the Royal West of England Art Gallery, Queen’s Road, Bristol. Summer infusion teas were totally stunning and, unlike most cafes, had no sugar or syrup in them. Peach/Berry was superb and the Earl Grey (tho obviously a bit sour due to its nature) was also v good. (1 other flavour I didn’t try). Staff exceptionally friendly & helpful. Lovely venue (inside the Gallery building) with metal seats (I think it was) & small tables outside. NOTE a year’s Pass is currently £16 to visit exhibitions as much as 1 wants, so only about £5 or less each time.

I went with my young son and wife during the run up to Christmas where I had booked a week off work to get my Christmas shopping done. It was a good day out overall, but sadly my attempt at some respite in this Costa was thwarted by one abhorrently rude member of staff. It started when I ordered our drinks at the till. Mine and my wife's drinks were fine, but when I asked about the free 'babycchino' for my son, the woman on the till- Anna- told me they had run out of the small cups for the kids drinks and that they'd have to charge us for a whole regular size cup of milk if we wanted one! After stating the obvious that Anna could simply put a small amount of milk in a regular cup, she huffed, poured out the drinks and abruptly handed me the tray. When we sat down, the tables were messy and sticky. Granted it was busy and the run up to Christmas, but basic hygiene is not a duty that should be shirked. After finishing I needed to use the restroom, so I went to the right of the tills and queued for use of the loo. When I got in there I could hardly breathe. The smell was awful. I went straight out to the tills and spoke to Anna again to tell her that the their toilets needed attention. I got the same huffy attitude from Anna who told me that they were nothing to do with her as the toilets were managed by Primark. She didn't even contact her Primark colleagues or a manager to let them know that someone had smeared excrement on the floor in there. Truly a shocking experience.

Turned up at 1720 to have a juice but was told by a rather sullen lady that I could only have coffee as they were closing at 6. Then she over charged me.. not very welcoming.

Dirty floor, dirty tables, dirty counter. Staff no interested at all. Ground floor tables full with teenagers charging the phone and using the toilet. WiFi was ok and coffe was decent, but terrible Starbucks standards, this is not what it used to be. Won't ever return here.

Nice little Costa at willow brook shopping centre. We encountered a rather anxious and slightly intimidating customer in the cafe the staff went out of the way to make sure we were ok. They apologised, checked in with us and gave us complimentary cakes. AMAZING customer service thank you ‘Kate’.
