The most important thing when you eat out is the food and that was excellent. The best dahl makhni I've had outside of India. My friends were also very impressed with the biryani dishes and we all loved the gobi (cauliflower) and chana salad. It was like going on holiday through our tastebuds, and we'll do it again. Only the nan bread could be improved as it was a bit tasteless and chewy so I wouldn't order that. The roti is much better and feels homemade. We were warned that we'd have to wait as the food was being prepared. We were fine with that as we didn't mind waiting for such freshly cooked food. The service was also excellent and friendly. Deccan is a cafe so don't expect a restaurant-like ambience. Saying that it is very clean, has large windows, and comfortable seating. It's great for a casual night out with friends who appreciate authentic Indian cuisine. It's also very reasonable and affordable which can't be said of most other eateries in the capital at the moment.

Too oily and difference in portion size for same dish. Received a coupon to be used on delivery but restaurant keep declining the order i tried to order all the dishes in multiple orders . What's the point of giving coupon if you can't keep your end. Worst ever.

It is early days for this place - they haven't got a set menu yet (but that means they offer promotions on what is on offer so nothing to complain about there). They seem to have a local chef from Hyderabad which is a good sign and I am looking forward to trying the biryani there. They also serve interesting regional Indian breakfasts which is quite unusual for Indian eateries in this country. As I said, early days - but some promising signs and worth persevering with methinks.

Ordered on deliveroo- the food was atrocious! Naan bread burned to a cinder, mixed grill drowned in salt, pilau rice slimy and rotten-smelling, byriani rotten-smelling and weird texture. Truly disgusting food, this company should be ashamed to serve such food. Got a full refund from deliveroo thankfully and the food went straight into the bin!

There are 3 Gunpowder locations in London. I went to the one in Spitalfields. It’s a very small restaurant that serves delicious takes on Indian food. Everything is creative and mouthwatering. I had the absolutely delicious kale salad - the kale is crispy! And the leaf wrapped fish with a creamy mustard sauce - very moist and tasty. From my reservation, they knew my birthday was approaching so I also got a dessert with a birthday candle - very thoughtful! The waitpersons and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. London is known for good Indian food, Gunpowder really stands out as a great example.

The word “Lahore” in their name is totally deceiving. For anyone who has tasted food in Lahore will be disgusted to taste this pathetic looking and overly priced food. The chicken karahi is nothing but boiled chicken pieces tossed in tomato paste. The cheese naan is just a thick oily roti with essence of cheese instead of real cheese. Also they serve the tandoori roti cut in pieces so remember to count the pieces to ensure that you are getting correct number of rotis because we were charged for 2 extra rotis that we never ordered. Even a novice will be able to prepare a better meal by watching a YouTube video.
