This place is a warm and welcoming environment with fantastic staff especially Ariani who was outstanding in her job and very knowledgeable and pleasant, lager wise I would say it is one of the cheapest pubs in the area and the lager is nice

Amazing food coupled with good fair prices . I suggest you try the chicken wings , we tried both the Piri Piri and the Honey sharer , was so good (the Piri Piri) that I ordered as my main to have even more ! all the meals were great , fresh and no faults or complaints - The service is fast . The man behind the bar really takes pride in his meals and that we can see in the food- The seating in the bar area is a little loud but there is an option to sit in the dining room next door so you can select a pub environment or the dining room. Really cannot say enough times how happy all 4 quests were with the meal and my youngest son raved about his burger the whole way home. I did have the fish and chips once in an earlier visit and that too was large and prepared with pride. Well done to the team and those who have not tried the pub suggest you give it a try for a great meal at really fair decent cost.

My new local. This pub is everything you want - well served cider (or beer for others), friendly staff, great management and picture perfect food. There is no trouble here, just a relaxed and welcoming environment where you feel like part of the family. Not my closest pub from home, but most definitely my preferred. Keep it up!!

We ordered 6 meals. 5 came up on time. 6th was after we all had finished. Bar staff had got order wrong (although I pointed out on ordering that it was fish & chips not scampi as came up on the till). Apologised but left one of our family eating when everyone else had finished. Comment from a member of staff "well she did apologise" One to avoid in future

I felt the pub had gone a bit down hill in the past, but the new managers have sorted it out big time. It is clean friendly and welcoming, there seems to be a new menu which we tried and the food was delicious, The service was great, nothing was too much trouble. I managed to catch the rugby over my wife's shoulder and enjoyed a good few beers while i was at it - best of both worlds! Great community pub.

Don’t advertise sports if you aren’t going to play them on the big screen. Shoving fans into a corner to huddle round a tiny screen when England are playing and you’ve advertised the big screen is not really acceptable. You’re currently trying to over come the previous managements stigma so maybe start by delivering what you’ve promised. That’s 30 plus customers that’ll go elsewhere for the next game !.

The staff and managers were very welcoming and it is a good size boozer. I mentioned the phone call and have now updated their contact no. Would recommend it to other away fans. Only down side they did not sell my favourite tippel CORONA. Hi we have eaten at the burnt oak pub on various occasions and the food has been acceptable but nothing special and on the last occasion we had a party of 8 and everyone's food was awful to the extent that we complained to the manageress and was told that next time the food would be on them but as we were not planning to use this pub again for food we never took her up on her offer. Today we heard that the chef had changed and so had the menu so we thought why not give it another chance, we ordered a chicken dish and a mixed grill and I must say that the food was marvellous and honestly could not fault it at all. Upon speaking to the manageress we told her that the new chef had our compliments and she told us that he had come from the beams pub on the next estate and that Meade perfect sense as we have eaten there many times and always found their food fabulous, so give The Beams another go - you will be glad you did !

This place recently had a referb, which looks ok. The staff were friendly enough, however on arrival (when they opened at 12) I went to get highchair for my 1yr old and was disgusted at the state of it. Obviously hygiene isn't their priority. There was dried bean juice etc on tray and then opened it out to find what looked like really old corgette and other lumps of food. Other chair was just as bad, so ended up having to sit him on my lap trying to eat.... great!!! Food took ages to come out and then was pretty average. Husbands curry looked more like a salsa with chicken in, which he said wasn't great. I don't normally do reviews on places to eat but felt I had to on this one. Safe to say that was the first and last time. Not good at all.

We went on a Monday evening for dinner with friends, on arrival there was ample parking in the large car park. Once inside the pub was not very busy but we had to wait a unreasonable amount of time to be served drinks as there was only one member of staff behind the bar. Having to select your choice of food from the menu and then having to go to the bar again to order is a practice that I personally find a chore especially having to remember what everyone wants, maybe a number system on the menu and supplying pen and paper would improve the system. When the food arrived it was quite good, however rare steaks were served medium but on the whole not bad value for money. We would return to the Burnt Oak when cheap and cheerful dining was required.

My Husband and I have been for lunch at the Burnt Oak twice in recent weeks with our baby girl. We hadn't been in a few years as we were fed up of microwaved food coming out half cooked and still frozen in the middle. We decided to try again on the spur of the moment and were pleasantly surprised to find the whole venue had been refurbished. We selected a table and sat down, placed our order and honestly our experience from years ago could not have been more different to now. The staff are so lovely and friendly, personal without being over the top, discrete without ignoring you completely. Just a brilliant mix of all the things you'd like when eating a lunch. The food was a bit slow the first time, but came out and tasted lovely and fresh. Nothing like the microwaved, half frozen slop from years ago and when we mentioned on our second visit a week later about the fact we didn't have much time they made sure our food was on the table in a timely manner. We're a large family of ten, and could never visit this establishment for meals before because of lack of tables that could accommodate us so are very excited to see a large table available too. We'll definitely be back very soon, I believe this may become our new regular lunchtime haunt!

Obviously this is my personal view. A family lunch at the Burnt Oak was, for me very disappointing. I decided to have the traditional Lancashire hotpot. The description is where the word traditional is misunderstood. Expecting to get what was in the recipe I was really disappointed. I could not find any roast parsnips, the sauté potatoes were not sautéed, and as for being finished with cheese there was neither any sight nor taste of cheese. As for the jug of gravy, it was non existent. It was nowhere near what could be described as a Lancashire hotpot. Nuff said !!!

Estate pub with large catchment area. Eclectic clientele provides a varied mix of conversation levels. 2 outdoor gardens, covered smoking area. Sky/BT sports usually showing live action. Friendly staff. Cheap and cheerful pub grub. Range of real ales, regularly rotated and at a decent price. Regular disco/karaoke evenings. If only the brewery would spend some money here, they'd see a good return on their investment, I'm sure. Even a new carpet, tables and a lick of paint would transform the place without breaking the bank. Other local inns have followed this so the Oak now looks like a poor relation, but it needn't be so.

Perhaps that explains why ti was virtually empty of customers.

Quite simply, food quality was poor, and service lacked imagination.I would suggest that Ikea buyers need to sample the oven baked fish before serving to their customers.......it's awful.Making our way to table I noticed the usual statements on the subject of returning trays and used crockery to various stations in order to keep costs to a minimum.....I suppose partly cleaned tables are also cost cutting. Our food was barely warm and returning it was met with indifference, it was replaced with more of the same, although a little warmer, it wasn't hot.

I cannot say that this is a rough pub, I didn't get that feeling and was comfortable being on my own. Very very tired decor specially at the back, screaming for a refurb. Friendly staff, decent cheap food and drinks, nothing special but nothing bad. This is simply a place without pretensions, patiently waiting for somebody to eventually be able to spend a bit of money on a new decor. As such, only adecuate for meeting people with both feet on the ground, not to impress, but keeping that on mind it is not a bad place.

The excuse being that a party was still in and they were unable to take any food orders? Why when the group were well into their meals and the place was fairly empty? The main comment related to the tables and decor BOTH in need of some Tlc. The have a good selection of wines and beers but seem unable to cope with any busy spells. Surprised it was the last one but perhaps the other slices were sold last week? On the plus side after mentioning this we were only charged £5 for the lettuce and pot of coleslaw! Such a shame as used to be so good. Coffee was good however! Save yourself a trip and instead head into Olney to the pancake parlour, better food, service and value.

Always welcomed into Bon Viveur by helpful and happy staff who are always polite. Good value coffee and quality cooked snacks. Happy to return whenever I can.

Absolutely filthy walks, floors & tables. Food was ok, but put off by the state of the place, couldn’t see kitchen. 2 blokes in their phones behind counter. Shame

I like this coffee shop. Today I was served by Jody and she made my experience extra special. Jody goes that extra mile with her customer commitment, I appreciated her today. Great place to visit and bril food. Not bad prices either
