Buondi Cafe in Brighton and Hove

This place is a must try! Everything is made from scratch and delish! We had Jolie as our server. This woman is TOP NOTCH, she goes out of her way to make you feel welcomed and explain the menu. Definitely on her game, thanks Jolie! The cold brew coffee was smooth and excellent. I enjoyed the savory crepes with greens, while kids loved the sweet strawberry nutella crepes and lemon curd french toast.

If you're going to eat here be sure to save and/or take photos of your receipts. Most recently, $11 was added to the tip I left, which I discovered when reviewing my credit card bill. When I called to speak to the manager, he was short with me but said he would look into it. He called back a few minutes later to say "he fixed the mistake and refunded the amount added to the tip." I asked how it was a mistake and if he could explain what happened and he went on to tell me, "This happens all the time."

Can I give them zero stars?! TERRIBLE SERVICE!! We were told to call in and they were extremely rude. The manager was HORRIBLE. They let at least 10 groups in ahead of us, as we put our name in way before. Made us wait over an hour. You could tell this was purposeful. No reason for such rude behavior. Made my grandma cry on Mother’s Day weekend. Dear Andrea, Thank you for taking the time to respond, though I must admit I was taken aback by the tone and content of your message. As a paying customer, I find it incredibly disappointing and frankly quite ridiculous to be spoken to in such a passive-aggressive and dismissive manner — particularly with a closing remark like "I hope this is helpful to you for any restaurant you visit in the near future." That comment was not only unnecessary but condescending, and it's quite telling about the level of respect you seem to have for your guests. While I understand that restaurants have protocols, the way this situation was handled — both in person and in your response — lacked the professionalism and courtesy that one would expect from any hospitality establishment. Speaking to a group of customers as though we're uninformed or unreasonable, especially on a day that held great significance for our family, is not only unacceptable but reflects poorly on your leadership. It's unfortunate that instead of acknowledging a breakdown in communication and offering a sincere apology, your reply came across more like a defense of your protocol than an effort to understand our very real frustration. This wasn’t just about a wait time — it was about how we were treated, both during the visit and now, in writing.

Wish I could give it a ZERO. WORST experience ever. The manager was incredibly rude and made my grandma cry on Mother’s Day weekend. We called ahead days before and were told our name would be on the list. The manager tried to argue that we “misinterpreted” the call but he “put our name down” anyway. We waited over an hour, and they seated many groups before us including people who arrived 45 minutes after us. Unbelievably rude, dismissive and unprofessional. In response to your comment below: There were groups of 4+ who arrived after us, waited outside, and then were still seated before us. Not just walked right in. I also am disappointed in your inability to take ownership for the rudeness in which we were treated. If you did, in fact, watch videos, you would have seen complete unprofessionalism in the way in which we were addressed and approached on arrival. You would have seen us be asked by the host "if we were leaving" after 45 minutes as we were still sitting there patiently, and you would have seen my grandmother crying. Additionally, you would have in your logs the phone conversation in which we were promised by one of your employees that we would be able to call ahead. If this is not your policy, I recommend clarifying that with your staff before they misinform the customers who plan their day around that information. Point blank, unprofessional and rude and unaccommodating to make up for mistakes your own employee made.

This was the worst experience I have ever had. Our party called in for a table and they completely bullied us. Totally unacceptable behavior from the manager. I don’t care if the food is supposed to be good, nothing is worth ruining someone’s day if you’re not in a good mood. Supposed to be a fun graduation brunch and instead turned into a terrible day.

Hostess was rude. Manager was condescending. To the owner-he is not the guy you want managing. Don’t go here if you have a party of 5 or more. They can not accommodate you.

Unfortunately we waited patiently for well over an hour for a table. We called ahead 3 days ago and were told we could call in our way there to put our name in. When we called day of we were told that wasn’t the case. So my parents put our name in when they got there. My mom ended up leaving in tears. Waited for one long table instead of offering to put two tables together— were very rude — ended up leaving. Disappointed in how we were treated. Didn’t even get to try the food. I would rethink before going.

The mushroom soup was great, but if you order panini, you'll be disappointed.

The cafe is a lovely place and we love visiting for breakfast on Sunday mornings. We have been several times. I want to love it, but the service we experienced sitting at the “bar” was terrible. The server (we call her “the juicer”) is consistently in a bad mood and rude, making us feel uncomfortable. We joke whether she will be in a good mood before a visit. Ironically, my son and girlfriend went last Sunday without knowledge of our prior visits. He came back and said the same thing about “the juicer”. He thought she brought the place down a bit. I hope this changes-the food and atmosphere are fantastic!

Was tasty. I had a bagel sandwich. The portions aren’t huge, but the presentation and the atmosphere definitely are part of what you’re buying. It is not a inexpensive breakfast place, but it has very classy clientele and while it is a little louder would make an excellent place to meet somebody for an informal conversation.

Great breakfast stop in Carmel. Staff were very nice and friendly. Food was excellent and came hot. Atmosphere was nice not to loud or to quiet.

I just had a delicious breakfast at Caffè Buondi. The frittata was hot and so tasty. I hoghly recommend the pistachio cappuccino! It was just lovely. Even the English muffin was toasted to perfection! It was my first visit, but I will be back again!! I strongly recommend Caffè Buondi.

The waitress who served us seemed to be very bored, she wasn't having a good day, she made us feel uncomfortable, there was a racist atmosphere, if you are Black or Latino please don't go to this place, they gave us coffee with a broken utensil, it was in very bad taste.

The food was amazing. I'm usually a ketchup and eggs person but I had the Buondi feature frittata and it was so good, no ketchup required. Abdominal was my waitress and she not only knew the menu but did superb service. Great place, great food, amazing staff.

I sat at the bar for breakfast and had Jenna B as a server. She was by far the rudest server I’ve had in Carmel. I had her once before and it was the same thing. I gave her the excuse of maybe she’s having a bad day but no she’s just very rude in general. Cut us off mid talking to say a rude comment back. Ruined our experience because we became scared to ask for anything. The people sitting around us at the bar all agreed she’s undeniably rude BOTH times we went. and i honestly don’t know why or how she still has a serving job at a nice Carmel restaurant. She is tarnishing the great reputation of this place.

the blueberry waffles were the best waffles I've ever had. light and airy. the frittata unfortunately was disappointing we built our own with mushroom, goat's cheese green pepper and English muffins. the muffins were spot on. the egg was bland a bit rubbery, dry and the cheese was a big clump at the bottom not mixed through. we didn't even discover it until after we'd eaten most of the egg. the service was superlative.

We had come from The Temple across the street and decided that breakfast food sounded good, turned to Google and this place was recommended! There was no wait time for us (group of 2), but there was a group of 4 who were given a wait time of 20 minutes that had gotten there before us. The floor is very busy and each table was filled. Being a very open building that also meant it's much louder inside, but not so much that it was overwhelming. There's a self serve coffee bar, though neither one of us drinks coffee so we can't say much about that other than it seems it could be wonderfully convenient. Our waitress was sociable and very knowledgeable. We asked for a green smoothie with no bananan but unfortunatly they are unable to accommodate (the person who makes the smoothies won't allow) but it wasn't a deal breaker and was still delicious! The food was cooked perfectly and tasted incredible! We were presently surprised and will probably be back again the next time we're in the area.

Came in a little late around 115p as they close at 230p, was thankful they got us in and never felt rushed. Food was stellar. The atmosphere was really fun too. Their espresso machine was down but the drip coffee and iced tea was great. Can only imagine how good the drinks are if the food was this good. Almond croissant was very good.

Food is amazing, customer service is confusing. We went on my a birthday and were upsold the whole time with nothing free for it being a birthday. So be careful. It comes off they want more tips and not to actually celebrate you.

I had a bad interaction with a waitress and lost my temper. Not proud of myself, but the manager made things right. He cared and asked us to come back, but we don't live in Carmel and we got lost trying to find the place again on our way back through town. We wanted to come back because the coffee and croissant were SO good and the manager so caring. Hope we can try again on another trip. Thank you and best wishes.

Love this place! They have so many choices for coffee drinks. My favorite is the iced shakerato, it’s like an espresso martini without the booze! Also every soup I’ve had here is delicious - especially the cream of mushroom.

It's a good place to have breakfast, the menu has many options for all kinds of tastes. It has crepes, frittatas, pancakes, French toast and much more. The place is nice, it's well located, there is plenty of parking. I've been here several times, today I had to sit at the bar and the service was average, I understand that it's Sunday, I understand that the work behind the bar is hard, but even so you have to take a couple of minutes to serve each customer and guide them through a good experience. I could feel the girl who served us was even a little rude, she took our order super fast, without any time to ask her any questions about the menu, after ordering I asked her if they had potato soup available and she literally pointed to the menu on the wall and ironically muttered that it was advertised there for a reason. I was already feeling very embarrassed about ordering anything else. Overall the restaurant is good, I can't say it's bad because an employee was having a bad morning, but they should be careful with those details because Carmel has many very good options to go to breakfast, there is a lot of competition between the places you can choose to go and spend your money, and these details can make the difference.

I recently visited Caffè Buondì, and my experience was delightful, thanks in large part to my server, Maria B. She was incredibly helpful in answering all my questions about the menu and the various Lavazza espresso options. Her friendly and knowledgeable service added a special touch to my visit. I decided to try the Biscoff Stuffed French Toast, which came with raspberry sauce, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream. The whipped cream was a standout—light, fluffy, and firm, with an airy, creamy texture that was nicely sweetened but not overly so. It paired beautifully with the Biscoff filling and the bread. However, the bread itself was a bit dense and slightly hard to chew, which affected the overall texture of the dish. That said, the whipped cream helped to balance this out, making the dish enjoyable. Between the two sauces, I found myself preferring the chocolate sauce over the raspberry, as it complemented the flavors better for my taste. I also tried the Espresso Torinese, which was very indulgent. The bold espresso had a nice sweetness at the end, making it a satisfying choice for any coffee lover. I chose not to mix the heavy cream topping with the espresso and found that I preferred the drink that way, as it allowed me to enjoy the distinct layers of flavor. Overall, Caffè Buondì offers a lovely atmosphere inspired by Italian breakfast, lunch, and brunch. While there were some minor aspects of the dish that didn’t fully meet my expectations, the excellent service and the quality of the other components made for a pleasant dining experience. I would definitely recommend giving it a try, especially if you’re a fan of creative and indulgent brunch options.

Everything is scratch made and delicious! Since it was our first time there, our waitress gave us a tour of the menu which was very helpful when it came to ordering. There is a heavy Italian influence on the drinks and menu. It all looked so good. My wife and I will be returning soon to explore the rest of the menu.

The atmosphere looked great and we were excited to try something new. Our poor experience started at the door with the host, who chose to seat a couple that came in after us first. No big deal, we didn’t say anything and were seated soon thereafter. We were seated at table in the middle of the room and noticed that there were several booths unoccupied, so we politely ask if seating at a booth is an option. We sensed a little bit of an attitude from the host as a result of this request, but he did oblige and seated us in a booth. The waitress, however, took a big time attitude and I’ve never experienced such rudeness from a waitress in my life. She was very curt and short, obviously disturbed for some reason when taking our drink order. The way she looked at us was of anger for some reason and we could barely get the words coffee please out before she abruptly walked away. We got us and left immediately. Such a disappointing experience because the place looked like a great place to have a meal.

Although we waited for a short bit to get water, we were acknowledged, and when we were waited on, our server was great. This was an impromptu visit and our first visit, and we were so glad to find this hidden gem. We loved the atmosphere, and the food was delicious. There were so many choices, it was hard to decide. We enjoyed the raspberry mimosa and americano with our food. Would have loved to get dessert, but maybe next visit.

Used to be one of my favorite spots for breakfast, but after taking the Nano off the menu it’s just not the same. Staff and atmosphere are still great though.

Caffe Buondi is a brunch lover's dream! I recently visited this charming spot and was blown away by both the espresso and the food. The espresso was rich and aromatic, definitely one of the best I've had in a while. As for the food, I ordered a savory crepe, and it was simply amazing. The crepe was perfectly cooked, filled with fresh ingredients, and bursting with flavor. The atmosphere of the cafe is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a leisurely brunch. The staff was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall wonderful experience. Additionally, there's ample parking available, making it convenient to visit even during busy times. I can't wait to return and try more from their menu!

I can honestly say. I was VERY disappointed. My mother and I live about 2 hours north of there. Was in the area for a doctor's visit and decided to try this place. I was VERY excited to see Nueskes ham on the menu. It's literally my FAVORITE! I got the pick 2 thing. Got soup. Which was potato. I thought it was very good. Nice portion. A little to much thyme in it but still tasted good. Now for the second choice. I got the half of the Stradale. It was a absolute joke. There was like NO meat. Ok let me take that back...VERY VERY VERY thin meat. The flavor was so good I just wish they would of put more meat on for the price you are paying. I also wish I would have taken a picture. Also side note. People like I e in their water. Idk why you bring room temperature water.

Very trendy place. Mixed vegetables were great. The caramelized onions really made this into a flavorable dish. The sausage patti had great flavor but was a little thin for my taste. The frittata was the star of this meal. I never had a frittata before, but this one set the standard for all future frittatas. It was tasty and hot. It was served in a cast iron pan that kept it hot the entire meal. I love it when i get a meal and don't feel it is missing any ingredients. The atmosphere is too crowded for me. What i mean is the tables are to close together. I really could hear and understand the conversations happening on all sides. I really hope Susan gets over her conflict with her brother, but I digress - being to close was my major downside on this restaurant. Smaller issues for the amount of money i spent i wish the portions were bigger. I waited about 25 mins for the food after i placed the order. Not terrible. The food was worth the wait. Still something people should know. I walked in the restaurant at 12:10. I left after 12:25.

First time eating here and what a great surprise didn’t know existed. Everything on the menu looks great.

Live nearby and come here often but they close early when they choose to. I was told was due to “discretion” even though I came in 15 min before close. Typically that’s the time they’ll take the last customers but was turned away. Even car washes stay open on rainy days which is what it was today.

If you like First Watch, this place is similar but with an Italian cuisine influence. That is a good thing for me with a menu a little more adventurous with options and flavors. Food was fresh and service attentive. Gets a little loud when it’s crowded.

Amazing food great looking place and great staff

The server was nice and kind, she was very knowledgeable of the menu. She recommended some drinks and food choices, however, they were all unique and did not necessarily appeal to taste buds. There’s a layered pasta dish with meat, hard boiled eggs, and cheese that the server raved over but in reality, it was honestly so much chopped up hard boiled egg that I couldn’t eat it. And the drink I got was in a martini glass with muddled fruit, it just wasn’t the best vessel for that type of drink. The menu is very different but just not for me.

Absolutely stellar lunch experience at Cafe Buondi! I swear their chef must have magic in those pots and pans because every bite feels like a taste bud party. I’ve never left here without a full belly and a big smile. The only disappointment? Having to leave. If you haven’t tried their lunch yet, you’re missing out on a slice of culinary heaven!

The service was welcoming and quick. It was a first time visit and waiter explained our questions, and made recommendations. The decor is bright and comfortable. Special drinks, good coffee, and great food!

Well, I failed!! I usually try to take pictures and review right away. I didn’t do any of those things with Caffé Boundí!! This a halfway point for my friend and I and we try new places every time we meet! We loved everything we ate and walked away saying we will come back. That’s a good sign! Sadly I don’t have pictures to jot my memory with, but loved the vibe, service and delicious cuisine! Try it and please remember to take pictures and review!!

Highly recomed the french toast pancakaes in particular. Service is a bit stiff, slow, but not terrible. I do think it's a bit overpriced..but.. Carmel.

This is one of our favorite brunch spots in the area. The menu is quite varied including both breakfast and lunch items, with the food consistently delicious. The restaurant has a casual, modern European bistro vibe with lots of natural sunlight. Also, the service is great. While waiting for a table, I interacted with several servers to ask about the signature espresso beverages, and they were friendly and helpful. Once seated at our table, we told Tabitha, our server, that three additional people would be joining our party, and she cheerfully added the place settings. Tabitha was friendly, professional and attentive. We really enjoyed her service! Also, the complimentary self-serve coffee station is a nice touch. Well done, Caffe Buondi!

Great food! And as a cyclist I love that they have easy bike rack parking to lock up my bike!

At first glance, you might be turned off by the 'cafeteria-type' space, BUT, between the quality food, and top notch service, Caffé Buond'i grows on you. I had the Ascari, and was delighted by the crispy bacon over the well-scrambled egg stuffed with bits of Feta cheese (that I asked for instead of the suggested cheddar) inside a tasty Asigo bagel. Even though I was told the kitchen did not take to substitutions well, I appreciated my server making it happen. There is complimentary fresh coffee. With two drinkable serving sizes, there is simple cream and sugars to add to it. It was a Sun late morning/early afternoon, and the crowds were a mix of senior customers, families with younger children, and friends. The wait was a tad long considering what we ordered, but all well worth the wait.

Our fist time here and it was FANTASTIC! Great food, atmosphere and our waitress Jolie was phenomenal. The menu has a strong mix of sweet and savory dishes and their Italian coffee (Lavazzo) is great. Their ingredients are fresh and delicious. I don’t write reviews often but this definitely exceeded our high expectations!

A colleague took to breakfast and the waitress recommended the short rib breakfast plate. When it came out it looked really good. I cut into it and it was VERY dry. The eggs were eggs and the potatoes were potatoes (not bad, not great). She came back and asked how everything was. I asked, "Do you want me to be honest or cordial?" She said to be honest. I told her it was very dry and she said I could order again. I declined. She brought out some sauce with the check and said, "Maybe this will help." It didn't and nothing was said or done to make it right.

More like Cafe Horrible Food!!! This place sucks. It’s always crowded and LOUD! I have no idea how they are still open! I’ve even tried this place a few times because I love their evening restaurant next door. I’ve been served COLD manicotti, a completely raw croissant and now very burnt terrible avocado toast! Do not waste your money here.

Always a pleasure eating here. I had breakfast and the wife had lunch. It was such fun talking with Elizabeth. Makes us feel at home.

Caffe Buondi was a delicious breakfast that we had while on the north side. They featured tinker coffee which was made excellently- and both of our meals were delicious. We had the frittata of the day and the Vegano Bowl. The potatoes were top notch!!

My salad arrived with a black hair in it and our server told me it wasn’t his and then proceeded to pick the hair out of my salad with his fingers!! I was surprised by this and he was clueless that this was inappropriate. My friend told him to bring me a new salad! Servers should have some basic training how to appropriately handle this situation!

Breakfast was delicious. I loved the oats!! A few months ago, my wife and I had lunch here and it was ok. I got a salad with protein on top. A little pricey and I left hungry. But the breakfast this week was 5 stars! Tips: • worked great for a casual business meal. • couch at the front was awesome to relax and sip coffee for a bit.

Coffee was not good, waitress was not very accommodating, poorservice, pancakes where dry and tasted like they were made earlier and microwave. When a person orders cream for coffee don't give them milk. Won't be back. Should have gone to First Watch.

Great for a change in brunch but their menu is limited as most of their items are the same with small changes such as the omelets. The crepes are by far the best ones in all of Indy. Highly recommended to everyone to try.

My table was shamed by the waitress because we disliked the baked Oatmeal. Way to many bananas in it. I will not return.

everything was fine but not great. the service was fine but a little slow and the server made a couple errors. my frittata was not bad but very bland (I added salt). the salad was great, the green smoothie was good, and the salmon toast was good. certainly not a bad experience but I hoped for better.

Stop the press! This place stole my whole heart! As soon as you walk in and see the open, airy and contrastial (yup, made that word up) vibe, you’ll know you’re in the right spot! Once seated and attended by one of the many great servers I’ve encountered or seen serving other tables you’ll be delighted to be welcomed by their hospitality. Ok on to the food, BOMB DOT COM! Great experience. The staff is extremely attentive. Pleasant environment. Ample parking. Plenty of healthy and gluten free options to choose from. We had parfait and frittata. Server was at our table when needed. Excellent selection of teas. Located on the plaza with Market District. Definitely worth a visit. I will be coming back for more.

Places me at a table which had not been cleaned, poured my water into a glass the previous occupant had used, told me to get my own coffee with nose in the air... then left me sitting waiting to order. I walked out, i can only recommend not walking in.

2nd review: 2nd visit in a month, this time for an early weekend brunch (9am is early on sunday :p) 15 min wait time at 9 and this time around I ordered French Press coffee- their coffee is seriously worth recommending. This, without creamer and sugar is sublime- I can rave endlessness about “Lavazza”. I don’t eat bacon but wanted to try the bagel, they very well do try to accommodate your requests. Feel free to ask, you don’t have anything to loose. The cafes fresh juices are hot sellers - we got in at 9:15, sold out by 9:30. Going back again for the juice and oh! The coffee I don’t need to say anymore!! —— First things first, Buondi needs a better reservation system. Walk ins post COVID aren’t a thing with no tracking online mechanism. We were told 30-45 mins and ended up waiting more than an hour when we got in at 11:45 - 4* The ambience - casual, stylish, hep and crowded - 5* Service- really lost, although sweet and courteous - 4* Food - Woww! Butternut Squash frittata, my first ever. Buffon - smoked salmon on charred, wood fired bruschetta was just the right flavors! Coffee - SHOW STOPPER! The rich chocolate in Torinese with the bitter cocoa. BOMB! The hazelnut and Nutella combo in Nocciolato was HEAVEN - can I rate 10* I am going back for the coffee - Lavazza Italia is famed but this is next level taste and decadence. Love love!

This morning was the first time we ever had breakfast at Caffé Buondí. New to IN, we were excited to explore our new hometown of Carmel. We learned about Caffé Buondí because our daughter works at Starbucks and they get discounts for the surrounding restaurants and shops in The Bridges. The food is excellent, generous portions and eclectic flavors. My husband and I had duck eggs for the first time and they were perfectly cooked! The menu has lots of variety. Our waitress was fast and friendly and knowledgeable! Its a shame we won’t be returning. As we were getting ready to pay our daughter was excited to use her Starbucks discount, about 8 bucks off of our 85 dollar bill. It’s funny because we alway forget to use it at Los Arroyos (Highly recommend!) … but it was her mission to remember. Our waitress wasn’t sure about the discount (I can’t stress enough how great she was) so left to ask the manager, Whitley (can’t miss her, RBF and a ton of makeup). Whitley came over, looked at our daughters phone, and very aggressive threw it back stating “we don’t do that here.” Bottom line, customer service is the face of your company, and customers’ experiences should always be priority. We wouldn’t have minded if the restaurant didn’t honor the discount, but the attitude, aggressiveness, and disrespect we felt from a “manager!?” Unacceptable.

Enjoyed the salmon salad (see poto) but it could have had a bit more Feta as I didn't taste it. There are desserts on offer not found on the menu and I highly recommend the chocolate cake as it's probably the best chocolate cake I have ever had in a restaurant.

Such a warm and inviting atmosphere, owner is exceptionally kind with all customers. Every employee was helpful and highly satisfactory in the customer service area!

I picked up three salads to go. Two of the salads had no dressing, was very dry, some of the lettuce used was bad, minimal nuts (4), feta cheese couldn’t see that and salmon was dry and over cooked.

Coffee is not that good. A bit on the burnt side (even for the “regular” one). They even have a “dark” coffee which is completely burnt. Yuck. Food is pretty good but a bit on the expensive side. They charge almost $2 for egg whites, and other upgrades are also pricey. Overall, worth visiting once in a while but as a regular place, due to the bad coffee.

Loved this place for breakfast. I had the special....Eat Like an Italian. Cappuccino, warm croissant with butter and jam!

My daughter and I loved this place. Truly authentic Italian dining experience and the portions were manageable. Thank you for bringing Italy to the Midwest. Saluti da Bloomington!
