Whilst the beer and wine were excellent Saturday evening’s meal was deeply disappointing. We had chosen the Bull’s Head on review recommendations and that it was gluten-free aware - my wife has an allergy to wheat. Our waiter was apologetic but a substantial part of the menu was unavailable owing to a lunchtime rush. We opted for gluten-free gammon steak and I went for the chicken burger. The waiter then informed us, quite rightly, that the chips were cooked in the same fa as other fried items. I would maintain then that this dish should therefore not be classified as gluten-free. No rice was available as a substitute so mashed potato was accepted. When it arrived the gammon steak was tough as shoe leather - I tried it as well and had to agree but, after a long journey with no gf options available at lunchtime my wife persevered. My own chicken burger was similarly over-done and the burger bun burnt. There was no hint of a chipotle sauce, but maybe it had dried up. My chips however were good. I’m afraid that, after this disappointment we cancelled our appointment for Sunday lunch. Upon our departure we expressed our disappointment at the quality of the cooking and were told that the chef was away, his place being taken by a manager. I would suggest that in similar circumstances it would be better to close the kitchen for the night rather than suffer the blow to the Pub’s reputation.

This was for my birthday, my husband and I. We felt comfortable as soon as we arrived and were greeted by two lovely guys. Had a choice of two tables. Were asked straight away our choice of drinks. As I don't drink the young guy even offered to make me a birthday mocktail. They couldn't have made the evening more special. So friendly, the pub itself is a pleasure to come to. The decor inside and out is just outstanding. We both just felt so at ease and the food is beyond amazing. Our food was cooked to perfection, the produce was second to none and the portions were big. The choice is fantastic, there's something for everyone. The pricing is good too. My husband enjoyed his beer 🍺 ☺️ All in all an amazing night. Cant wait to come and try a Sunday roast. Thanks guys x

We were seeing friends at lunchtime and had a terrific meal here with them and our server was (Cam). We had no starters but had Cod & Chips twice, Chicken and Ham Pie twice. All the meals were simply superb and no complaints on quality or portions. We had a mixture of desserts including Ginger Pudding, Lemon Meringue Pie and Sticky Toffee Pudding which were all excellent. We also had an Evening meal but as our lunch here was so good and filling we never had any starters or desserts. However we did have the Chicken Katsu Curry and the Luxury Fish Pie. Both of these were really very tasty and I especially liked the freshly cooked Fish Pie. Our server in the evening was (Luke) who was very efficient and friendly. The following morning (Saturday 18th March) we also had a mouth-watering Full English Breakfast, which was outstanding and the service just superb. We had both chosen our cooked food the day before. There was plenty to chose from and cold food/cereals/fruit etc to have before your cooked breakfast. This place has plenty of parking and the whole experience eating Lunch/ Dinner and Breakfast was just perfect for us. We would highly recommend eating here as the food is superb, the staff exceptional and the atmosphere warm and inviting. Thank You.

We ate here after Christmas. Restaurant quiet but we still got overlooked. Having waited 45 mins we were then rushed.l to eat/leave. Despite this, we did enjoy the food and my dad has history with the pub as he was born and grew up in Fishbourne. Keen to give them another go, we called 3 weeks ago to book a table/tables for a meal after our wedding. The date is in May so lots of time. We were told we'd be called back. No call received. I called today and spoke to a lady who would benefit from customer services refresher training! She consistently told me they are and will be busy. No apology for not returning our call. She got our booking details wrong but spoke over me until I suggested we would take our custom elsewhere. Cannot recommend this venue and will not use again.

Happened across this place on Saturday after a visit to Fishbourne Roman Palace and decided to pop in for a spot of lunch. So very glad we (my bestie and I) did! The pub is lovely inside and the food is fantastic. Between us we had french onion soup, garlic mushrooms in a blue cheese and cream sauce and a portion of the BEST chunky chips. Looking at the other tables, all the food coming out looked amazing. From the moment we arrived, Luke made us feel so welcome and looked after us so perfectly that we ended up staying longer and eating and drinking more than we had intended. He's a credit to the pub. My only regret is that we don't live near enough to visit this establishment on a regular basis, but if we are ever in the area again, we will be returning.

Outstanding customer service from two young men: Jake and Tom. From the minute we set foot in the building, we had the warmest of welcomes, despite having to deal with all the Covid-related routines of today. Friendly without being over-familiar, but attentive to our order: so often do I order a soft drink without ice only to be given ice. Not at the Bull's Head - all our orders were carried out to the letter. Then came the food: definitely a match for the customer service. Starters of halloumi and mozarella sticks with salad garnish (nicely dressed) and a home-made tomato sauce; another starter of mushrooms in a blue cheese sauce also went down well - and very generous portions of both. The mains continued to please: one absolutely delightful mushroom and asparagus VEGAN pie, with mash, fresh, perfectly cooked broccoli, cauliflower and carrots; a steak and ale pie with chunky chips; a burger with french fries; a barbecued chicken with chunky chips - again extremely generous portions and all very tasty and perfectly cooked. I forced myself to have a desert of apple tart and ice cream; and someone else had sticky toffee pudding with custard. The ambience was professional and friendly and comfortably lively. Very Covid secure - as soon as we had ordered, our menus were removed from the table for cleaning; the whole place was spotless. The only 'complaint' I could have is that there was no vegetarian gravy to go with my pie .

This is the third visit we've had to the pub for food and again we were not disappointed. Our waiter was unbeleiveably friendly and talkative and was happy to strike conversation and recommend dishes. His customer service was flawless - I wish I'd gotten his name! I think it was Ben or Dan or something like that.I had the fish pie and I can honestly say it still stands as the best fish pie I've ever had - which is a big compliment as I'm very into my fish. It was fresh, cheesy, a generous portion of beautiful fish and prawns and it was just wonderful. My partner had the lamb shank and it just fell off the bone and he said it was also very lovely. We had the garlic bread and sweet potato fries which were fresh and cooked to perfection. Excellent experience all round and we will absolutely continue and look forwad to coming here in the future.

Food very tasty. I have no problem with the meal apart from the fact that we waited a long time for it to arrive. So long that the waiter/barman came to ask us whether we had enjoyed our meal when he’d not actually brought us any cutlery nor our meals. I think we must’ve upset him as we didn’t let him give his excuses to us as to why I was served sweet potato chips instead of rice with the gumbo I’d ordered. If this had been mentioned before the food arrived (and bear in mind that it took a long time in coming), I’d have changed my order for something else. I ordered the gumbo because I fancied a rice dish. All in all, the food was fresh for us all and cooked well. Our friend’s liver could’ve done with being trimmed better. The fish and chips were excellent, as was the fish pie. We stopped by the pub to eat after visiting the Fishbourne Roman Palace and it was conveniently nearby.

My roast lamb was great - slightly pink, fine yorkshire pudding, nice roast spuds, immaculately cooked vegetables. The sensible half had gumbo - more seafood than she could eat, a little spicy, close to perfect. Great value. Her mum had pork belly. I finished that for her - really good. Deserts were Lemon Meringue Roulade, Chocolate Brownie and Ice-cream. All faultless.Glasses of house wine were fine. The IPA was really good - a well kept pint.Good coffee too.The service was odd though - despite offering table service we had to go to the bar to move things along at every stage. There were at least three staff wandering in and out but catching an eye was near impossible and for long periods there was nobody in sight at all. All fine, polite and good natured, and once we had ordered the food was prompt, but making the order was a challenge

Having occasionally popped in to the bulls head for some nice home cooked food I was disappointed to find the pub has recently changed its menu (which is less varied than it used to be) in my opinion for the worse. The meat in the beef burginon was so chewy it was just about edible. Not to be ones to complain we decided to leave it and not bother again. A friend also said this happened on a separate visit and the staff laughed it off but did offer a free desert, hardly a replacement of a main meal. His partner had a veggie chilly and said it was bland compared to the previous managements version. I noticed the menu is the same as the Travellers Joy in Southbourne so I guess the cook is batch cooking for both. Such a shame.

Arrived at 7.30 and it was really quiet, only 2 other persons eating but about half a dozen at the bar. The menu has changed a lot (I guess it would) but no steaks on the menu. The starters were a real disappointment, garlic mushrooms were obviously from a freezer bag with a small pot of garlic mayonnaise and a small salad and at £6.95 well overpriced! We visited Chichester for a two night break and the owner of the local B & B we stayed at recommended this pub for meals. We had our evening meals at this pub on both nights and really enjoyed our meals. Different specials each night as well as the usual pub menu. Really well cooked, freshly made and in a really pleasant pub. Would recommend.

Regular Fullers pub menu, I suspect. Unenxciting but that said, I went for the cheese board - it was lunchtime and I wasn't that hungry - and the cheeses, a proper cheddar, a slice of decent goaty log and some good Stilton, that came with some very unexciting biscuits (small moan, really) were well kept, good quality and generous portions. Service was cheery, helpful.

We stayed two nights at the Inn. I eat Gluten Free, and the kitchen made gluten free gravy for me. The meals were wonderful and the service great. The rooms were Updated, comfortable and quiet. There was absolutely nothing to complain about except I booked a double room, and got two twin beds instead of a double bed. Must have been an translation error on my part... American to British....

We booked to stay here as we were visiting the Chichester Festival Theatre. The accommodation is separate from the pub itself and is clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast the following morning was good. Value for money was very good.

We had walked into Bosham from just outside Chichester, we spent time looking around, had lunch then walked back and decided to pop in for a drink, very nice setting, we sat outside in the beer garden, had we been staying in the area for longer we may well have returned for a meal as it looked very nice.

Pleasantly surprised. The pub is on a main road but there is a good car park behind with ample parking and a garden away from the road. We had a very nice meal - everything was hot, fresh and as described and the atmosphere was one of a 'local' with bar stools at the bar as well as plenty of tables for diners.

We stayed at the Bulls Head for 2 nights whilst visiting Chichester. The rooms were fine- clean, warm and inviting. We had dinner one evening, the food was good pub grub. The breakfasts were ok, though we couldn't understand why the Full English was served on such small plates!

We popped into the Bulls Head for an early evening meal. We asked if they were serving food, yes. The pub was empty and we were offered the table immediately inside the door, we said have you another table? We were told there's another round the corner. We sat down and waited for some sort of service, nothing, so we got up and left. If it was a pub where you choose a table and order at the bar, perhaps, someone should have mentioned it but it appeared the staff were too busy chatting amongst themselves. Not a place we would return to. Would have thought that as a hotel they were used to non regular custom.

I went to the Bulls Head for lunch today - We had the Special - hake wrapped in salmon. It was so dry and tasteless that was hard to eat. We told the Waitress who said that she would tell the Chef - no apology, We did not have a pud due to the awful main course but just Cappuccino coffee - I think this was from an instant packet - it tasted very odd.Not good enough.

Three of us ate lunch at the Bull's Head today. We all had the same meal - one of the specials for the day, hake parcel in salmon with broccoli and potatoes. The fish was very overlooked, dry and almost inedible. The veg were just plain boiled. There was no sauce with the fish or vegetables on the plate. Although we were asked if we wanted any sauces, I can't imagine what would have been needed to make the meal more edible.Things didn't improve as our cappuccinos afterwards were awful - from a packet or an instant machine. No coffee taste at all.Price for this plus a cold drink was £20 per person so not cheap.I don't know if we were unlucky with our choices, but we definitely won't be returning.

Popped in for a quick Sunday lunch in the middle of a country walk. Only had a snack lunch (baguettes) but these were fine and the beer was good. Nice traditional and friendly pub atmosphere. As tempted by the ginger sponge and this was truly excellent- not the usual "heavy" dessert I was expecting. Is on a busyish road but garden area at the back is relatively quiet.

The pork chop and gammon steak both smelled of and out of date they then take the meal away to bring back minus the said items from a mixed grill only to bring it back minus the steak. We then questioned this and gave up they made fresh chips etc but also served calamari with the chips and onion rings which I bit into and was horrified as I don't eat fish can't stand it so whole meal ruined. Kitchen staff all talking about what was said and going on when we were stood out side and can see and hear everything. We spoke to manager and got money back for the the one main meal but they were so blasé about it all and didn't show any concern about it if I could give less than 1 I would of !!!

What a shame, two people, two drinks to plates of sandwiches with salad and one portion of chips, how can you get that wrong? Well you can, no chips and no salad, then the chips arrive and the salad taken away, then it came back again. Weird, then is you sit outside all the smokers come out and blow their smoke all over you. Been here before it has been ok, don't think we will bother again.

Stayed over for the first time one night this week whilst working away. I have to say that everything about my stay was excellent, from the welcome, to the quality of the room (inc good selection of tea, coffee, etc) and especially the food. Dined during the evening and for breakfast and both meals were freshly prepared to a very good standard using quality ingredients. Will definitely stay again next time I'm working in the area. Well done team.

We hoped to enjoy the English Sunday Roast we had heard so much about, but they were out of the beef. I had the very large serving of lamb roast with potatoes, carrots, broccoli, and turnips, My husband had the venison with diced potatoes and carrots. We enjoyed a modest Merlot. (We noted that none of the restaurants where we ate had any local English sparkling or other regional wines.)

Popped in to this lovely cosy pub for a quiet drink before dinner at The Old Greenhouse. The pub was recommended by Nik, the owner and a fine recommendation it was too. Friendly Welsh barman serving great Ale's. My partner & I enjoyed the atmosphere and especially the log fire. So if you like a good pint in a traditional pub with no TV's and no noisy music then I can highly recommend the Bulls Head. Will probably return to eat there soon too! Many Thanks. John & Amanda.

This place is always busy around lunchtime, hardly surprising given the value. Sadly, I have recently found that my clothes have smelt of smoke after I leave, which is unusual these days. I have also found the food to sometimes be undercooked, which can spoil things. Whilst I respect the concept, this place is a victim of it's own success, offering value that is head and shoulders above anywhere else of it's kind.
