Buenos Aires Nights Ashford in Mendip

I’ve visited here previously and didn’t have a good experience. I emailed to let them know about my experience and didn’t get a response. But time has passed so decided to give it another go. Sadly no better this time. The cooking temperature of the steak was served blue at best, ordered M/R. The other steak ordered was poorly cut, shaped like a wedge which meant it was very unevenly cooked. The flavour of the steaks doesn’t match the prices. Ordered sauces to go with the steaks, shouldn’t have bothered. Absolutely tasteless and watery. No check back so not an opportunity to address the issues, but my mind was made up to just eat and leave. I did mention to the server when paying but got a nonchalant reply. Very sad as I love going out to eat.

We came here for our anniversary on the 19th Feb, first time we have been here and we were not disappointed. Everything about the evening was a fantastic experience, lovely table by the window with plenty of space, service was excellent, our waiters, Jamie and Mark were both perfectly attentive but not too much, very friendly and professional. The food was superb, we had lots of dishes so we could try a bit of everything. The Chorizo al Vino and Empanadas were a great way to start, followed by the steak sampler, green beans, portobello mushrooms, Humita, and thick cut chips (hot, crispy and fluffy, perfect!). The steaks were the best we have had, excellent cuts of beef, well cooked, perfectly seasoned, melt in your mouth tender, nothing left on the plate when we had finished! All the food was hot, well seasoned and good portion sizes. We had the Flan Casero and Churros for dessert as well as a sharing anniversary "pre-dessert" (thank you!). Espressos to finish and that made this, without doubt, the best meal out we have ever had. Service was well paced but never felt rushed. We also had cocktails and a bottle of wine, both of which were excellent. We will definitely be coming back. Once again, many thanks, certainly our new favourite restaurant. Paul & Sue.

Tender delicious rump steak. Wonderful peppercorn sauce. Crispy fluffy tasty chips. Great dessert. Will return again on a special occasion.

It’s the time I’ve been more disrespected in a restaurant. We have booked for 7:45pm for the whole family, to celebrate my birthday, got there sharp on time, then they sent us to Itaca to have a drink cause table was not ready. That place was closed, we went back to Buenos Aires, all the family waiting outside in the cold, another group with same number of people came, and sit before us, that was already 8:10pm. I’ve never seen anything like that, asked to cancel the booking and left, I still dont know the reasons, maybe being Brazlians (who love Argentina culture and meat btw), but it was extremely disrespectful for me and my whole family. And we have been to Buenos Aires many times before, but never treated so badly like that, with very rude staff!!!

We went on Friday evening really nice atmosphere it was quite busy, we had booked thankfully. We went for tapas starters and the sharing board. Should have just had the sharing board it was amazing, we just couldn't finish it all as we were full. Lovely to see a good quality restaurant in the town!

The food was fine but the prices are astronomical. We were se@ted next to a table of rowdy teenagers effing and blinding throughout their meal and we had to ask to move as the staff did nothing to quieten them down. How this restaurant survives in Ashford is a miracle - who pays over £10 for a calamari starter and £4.95 for a bottle of still,water, London this is not!. Needless to say we won’t be returning.

Beautiful! We had the steak sharing platter and it was GORGEOUS. Steak was cooked perfectly how we asked, I had a cheeky pornstar martini! The waiter was lovely and attentive. Pricing was fair, we would definitely return when next in the area!

Lovely food and service. Steaks were beautiful I thought it was good value for money considering you are in a classy steakhouse. We had the steak sampler which was absolutely delicious. Couldn’t fault the staff at all. Nice ambience, very good experience.

Our third visit, and by far the best one too date. Pre-booked in advance as it was a Saturday evening; warm greeting upon arrival and seated promptly at our table. Offered drinks and menus promptly and made our selections. All of us opted for the Chorizo starter; and all three of us choosing steaks of different weight; cut and cooking. Drinks promptly replenished throughout the meal. Only one could take on a dessert, so two chose cocktails instead. Would highly recommend, and we hope to visit again in the coming months

We really enjoy this restaurant and have been several times yes it’s expensive but we’ve always felt the food is worth it for its quality, however its just a shame when you’re paying £150+ per couple that on the next table a couple are wearing hoodies and watching videos on their phone throughout the meal! I’m not being a snob but where are peoples social graces going out for a meal and why do they think I / we want to hear their social media?! The staff did and said nothing despite our subtle comments to the couple which were ignored Why are restaurants resistant to setting standards for the benefit of the majority? Disappointed on this occasion.

As an ex-pat, now living in Brasil, I’m used to quality meat. This is without doubt, the best beef I have ever eaten in the UK. The service was faultless too

Great reviews, but we found the service pressured us to hasty decisions even though we wanted to take our time and the restaurant was empty bar two other tables. Drinks, particularly beer VERY over priced. Steak overcooked and cold, little concern when mentioned. Atmosphere zero and music not in keeping. Honestly, a disappointing experience after all the hype.
