I haven’t been back here since my Uni days so I was looking forward to coming in here as I love the whole old decor and the coziness of the place. I asked for a short Americano with With warm milk. At first the looked at me like I was speaking in a different language and then when I got the coffee it was filled to the top. That’s not the end of the world but when I asked them to fix the problem, I felt as though I had done something wrong as the staff seemed uncomfortable and made me feel as though I was a little awkward. Then when I finally got my coffee it was cooler than Luke warm which defeats the purpose of getting an Americano with warm milk :/ I hope my next visit won’t be so disappointing as I often pass through Preston.

Second time we have visited and it was just as good as the first time we went. When in Preston , we go here. The best bacon and egg butty I have ever had, not cheap but you get the quality. Staff very friendly and helpful and service was quick and as we ordered. Can't speak highly enough of this cafe/restaurant. For us, 4 of us, it deserves a high rating and we can't think of anything you could complain about. Thank you and we will see you again next time we are in the area👍

Greek salad swimming in dressing, had mushrooms in and didn’t come with bread and slaw as stated on the menu. When I complained I was told it would be £1 extra! I explained that this was not acceptable and so I received a dubious looking slice of bread spread with something. I ordered a red tea and the server said she had no idea what it tasted like so stuck it under her nose to smell and then served it to me.

Definitely recommend for breakfast, as well as cakes, they looked amazing at the counter. Wish I could've got the lemon meringue whilst I visited. Super cheap hot drinks too, large coffees for under £4. Will definitely be coming here more, has an extensive menu and amazing decoration.

Normally been happy with this nice location but one staff member really took the biscuit today. We'd been in, had two lots of drinks and then lunch, whilst doing work together. Only a few minutes after finishing lunch and a staff member asked us 'are you ordering anything else?'. I said to her we've only just finished our lunch and we'll get another drink shortly and she was like 'I know what you're doing, you can't just us for the wi-fi.' I told her we'd actually ordered quite a lot. She said 'I'm not being rude' - might need to reflect on why that needed saying if she wasn't! I'd perfectly understand this if they and/or we were nursing the same cup of coffee for ages but we'd literally only just finished our food and they weren't particularly busy for a lunchtime. We went down the road for our next coffee! Coffee was ok. Food decent if overpriced. Actual place really nice but totally let down today by this interaction. Will go elsewhere in future given they clearly don't want our custom!

We were attracted to the cafe because of the character and felt it would be a traditional afternoon location, the cafe was very busy (indicating it's popularity) and we secured a table. The counter service was efficient and the food order was delivered quickly. As it was pre-lockdown, the tables were rather squeezed together. The food itself was fine, nothing that you could say 'wow' or that was 'euww' - it was 'fine'. I think if it was less crammed with tables we might have been able to enjoy the interior experience more - however - business is business and customers mean income.

Diet Coke is out of machine it was fine, coffee was bang on. The food however was rubbish. It honestly didn’t taste of anything. The potato was done in the microwave. The salad was very very poor not fresh at all and the portion size, id offer more to my 9 month old baby. I’d expect an oven baked potato and more salad for over £18.

Saw baked potatoes and asked again, told yes???I asked for a bowl to be able to put my son's dinner into from the thermos flask, was told no. He is not 2 yet so I generally bring food prepared from home. Everything was too much trouble. We sat down, the baked potato was luke warm with grated cheese which couldn't melt. The tea was full of tea grains. The older lady serving was miserable. Supposedly the charm is that the establishment is older but sadly tree service or complete lack of was very disappointing. I was curious about this place because of all the really bad reviews and because I like visiting places with a long history. When I stepped inside it was like being transported to a different era, with the old style of decoration, furniture and layout. They even have a real fireplace, perfect for a freezing December day. I thought the atmosphere was quite cosy, but there were some food boards and random stuff lying around, like a wooden pole below the counter. The place seemed clean besides that.I ordered a latte and a chocolate fudge cake for a total of £2.95, I thought it was so cheap I'm still wondering if it was a mistake. The coffee was pretty good and the chocolate cake too cold but edible. Staff were very polite, chatting with customers, holding the door for those leaving and generally being very pleasant. Except for the lady taking orders at the counter, I found her a bit abrupt. Maybe she just wanted to be very fast with the orders to not keep customers waiting, but she could have rushed a bit less and maybe ask if I wanted my cake microwaved. She did prepare my coffee extremely fast though. The toilets were not as dirty as described in other reviews, but they are pretty old and could use a refurbishment. And you do have to go past piles of dirty dishes to get there, maybe because of lack of space in the kitchen. They do need to do something about that too.In all, it seemed to me like they are trying to respond to all the bad feedback they have received. If they keep it up and with some more changes they could start earning a lot of positive reviews. I would like to go back and try the food as well and to see if it will be a pleasant experience again or if I happened to catch them on a good day.

Lovely coffee and cakes in this long standing cafe, the fabric of the place shows the passage of time (I believe it first opened in the 1930s) but, whilst it could do with tidying up it would be a huge shame to modernise the place. Food & drink prices are very reasonable and the quality of the cakes is high, staff friendly and helpful. Worth a visit and much better than the nearby chains - remarkably the patrons talk to each other rather than peer at mobile phones!

It is good to see this place, apparently founded in 1932, still going strong after so many years and we were impressed with the food quality and prices when we called in for lunch for the first time ages. But I was shocked on asking for the wi-fi password to be told they were "not allowed to give it out". I was with my wife so we carried on chatting, but if I had been on my own, I would have been very frustrated and would now look to the many other options available for a solo visit. Surely in this day and age, especially in a city with so many students, Bruccianis are missing a trick by not allowing customers to be connected. The place could also be cleaner too. We chose a corner table and there was discarded food underneath it.

I have been visiting Bruciannis for over 45 years, since I was a toddler with my parents and family members and now as an adult with my own family and friends. It’s presence, decor and environment has remained reassuringly consistent throughout times of change. The menu, as you’d expect has been updated to reflect changing tastes but old (and rare) favourites such as the malted coffee are still on sale - delicious! What is disappointing is the lack of gluten free and other dietary options . I remember what a spotless, efficient and immaculate workplace and workforce Mr and Mrs Brucianni insisted on during my first 30+ years as a customer but it’s disappointing to see how those standards have declined under successive owners.....

Food and drink at the café is decent, but what really makes this place is the atmosphere. Lots of interesting photos on the walls and the layout gives you multiple different options to sit and experience the place differently every time. Always enjoy eating at Bruccianis. There is always a generous amount of food on the plate. Always a great atmosphere. What does let the place down are the toilet facilities. Went to brucciani's for the first time in 5 years and certainly the last. Ordered 2 white coffees even though they weren't on the menu board, one cream scone and one cheese sandwich. Came to an expensive £10.90. the food menu isn't clear at all and has little choice and the price of the scone or cakes wasn't shown. The cream scone (whatever it cost) was tasty enough, the 2 "large" coffees barely adequate and not flavoursome at all. Worst of all was the cheese sandwich which was a total disgrace. How they have the audacity to charge £3.95 for it or even to describe it as a cheese sandwich is beyond me. It was a tiny brown roll with 1 and a half to 2 processed cheese slices on it, as well as being scrawny it was tasteless. I feel like buying a cheese sandwich from almost any other reputable outlet and giving them it to show what should like! It has the dubious honour of being the worst I have ever seen! I noted a few years ago they had a zero hygeine rating but I don't know if that is still the case. I cannot understand how any locals would regularly eat here. I can't find a website or other means of contacting them to formally complain.

Visit this place quite often on a Saturday morning but it’s now time to move on to somewhere more welcoming. Today there was the usual staff member’s small child and an entourage of family and friends gathered around a table that blocks the path to the rear part of the cafe. The child usually whines most of the time which isn’t conducive to a relaxing environment whilst having a drink or breakfast. The heating seems never to be on in winter and the fan in summer. Being a visitor to Preston I was impressed by the exterior/interior of the building. We ordered coffee and a toasted teacake so didnt anticipate being here too long. We had to leave early due to the vast amount of fruit flies inside the cafe, absolutely everywhere, so much so you couldnt and wouldnt want to eat there. When leaving I asked to speak to the manager only to be informed they had just left. Imagine my reaction when I said to the waitress "do you know you have a problem with fruit flies all over the place"... her reply "oh yes but we dont know where they are coming from". Well you have to admire her honesty but really!!! I could suggest it may have been the food debris on the floor... the tacky tables that had had something spilled on them and never wiped properly or even the floor that your shoes slid on whilst walking due to the excessive grease on top. I would have preferred to discuss the matter with the manager but was never asked for my details and by that action I believed the feedback would never have been passed back to the manager anyhow. I sure will not be paying a return visit and wouldnt recommend even a coffee or toasted tea cake, because its not just them that you are putting in your mouth i.e. fruit flies.

We ordered tea for three, pork and stuffing bagel and a ham and cheese panini. Absolutely shocked when three mugs of milky tea were slammed onto our table. I returned back to the staff to say one of our table does not take milk in their tea and we do not like our tea that milky. Where on earth do you not get milk in a jug to add to your own personal taste???? I was advised they pour it for you as it’s from a large pot. They replaced one with a stewed black tea but we were left with white lukewarm tea. Next the “food” arrived within minutes of ordering. The bagel was a cheap white baguette, filled with a slice of slightly warned processed pork and stuffing and the panini was a flat tasteless, processed and unappetising. By this point we were so shocked at the poor quality of food and drink in a place, which was once a well respected and bustling eatery, for shoppers in Preston. As you pay on arrival our food and drink was already paid for, served by young staff who cared not a jot as to whether we were happy with our food, so we left the majority of it, walked out (after throwing £17 down the drain) and vowed never to return and inform others accordingly. Preston now has so many new and exciting places to eat. Bruccianis is now jaded and complacent. They need to realise there is shabby chic and just plain shabby and they are now the latter. Never again!

Just visited for quick lunch with my sister I wanted the bbq chicken wrap without bacon to be told the food is already pre made so I went for the Mexican wrap with fries the fries were hard so couldn’t eat the wrap I opened up to find the chicken was all weird looking like jelly I called the lady over and told her that the chicken wasn’t ready she said maybe it’s the sauce I was very confused as ther was no sauce near the chicken I told her to take it to the chef she did in a strop she came back and said the food comes in already cooked ???? I said thers no way that’s cooked and I refuse to eat it she just looked through me I said can you take the food away I cannot eat it she replied yes I can dispose of it ... absolutely shocking customer service no remorse for the terrible food I wouldn’t eat here if you paid me dreadful

Wanted an alternative to hotel breakfast and remembered this place. Surroundings are ok if a little dated, but adds to the charm. Good quality ,fresh food and drinks.

Busy, obviously popular, great selection of food - savoury and sweet. The sweet things are mainly cakes.

Come here regularly, usually have a club sandwich as they are amazing here, (best club sandwich I’ve had). This time we had a full English breakfast. £5.95. 2 bacon, fried egg, sausage, mushrooms, beans, hash brown, cooked tomato and 1 slice of toast. Butter was melted in the packet before we got chance to butter the toast (it dripped out of the foil wrapper) so would’ve been better if the toast and butter was on a separate plate. I had a malted coffee which are usually really nice but too much Horlicks this time which made it really thick and rich. My partner had a raspberry milkshake. Nice breakfast but will definitely stick with the club sandwiches in future. Really nice old fashioned style cafe, love this place, I’ve been coming here since I was little and will continue to come back

It is worth visiting this place just for the sheer delight of the internal decoration and furnishings - a real throwback to an earlier age when this must have been a bustling and popular café. On our visit, an elegant older lady came in looking as if she hoped to recapture some of that magic by wearing fashions from the 1930s. Unfortunately, it does feel as if the café has lost that magic. The staff were not particularly polite and seemed a little exasperated that we did not know how you should behave at their counter. In addition, the cakes were, I am afraid, on the stale side and not a joy to eat. With a bit of effort and imagination, this place could be great but it isn't right now.

A good location to meet for an early bite before the start of work....or so we thought. The was a bit of a queue stood waiting on the pavement from 7.55. The staff could see that but it was just after 8 before they unlocked the door. That was disappointing as indeed was the service to follow. Grumpy young staff members without any real interest in what they were doing. The sausage sandwiches appeared quick enough but were a little dry. Would I go again ....not in a rush I'm afraid.

Bruccianis is such a disappointment these days. In here now eating possibly the worst panini I have ever had. It reminds me of something you buy on a train that gets microwaved to warm it. Served with no attention to detail and no taste. Just a few soggy crisps on the side. Totally awful, should have just gone hungry.

This cafe is easy to pass by on the street but it's well worth a look inside. The characterful interior is a splendid example of what I would view as a European brown cafe. It would be much more at home in Belgium or France. The prices were sensible, a green tea and a small latte cost £4.00.

Went In for breakfast , had the advacado, eggs, salmon etc,the poached eggs were extremely over done, the salmon was very dry at the edges and discloured.so the breakfast was very dry. It seemed really busy with staff just standing around together and chatting, didn't look very professional .The place it's self is lovely.

Been going most Saturdays for a few months. The salmon, scrambled egg on toast is the finest in the land. The staff are ace and the venue relaxed and chilled, particularly when the fires on. Great place to grab a coffee, check emails and catch up with the sports pages

First time here but won't rush back. Staff must be especially trained not to smile and not to be pleasant to customers. All except one young chap who bucked the trend. The place itself inside is certainly not a let down. My vegetable wrap was like no other that I have had. It wasn't so much a wrap as a parcel and the filling didn't amount to very much. My wife though was ok with her panini. The gents' loo wasn't anything to write home about, just a wc without a urinal and quite scruffy. I hope that I was in the gents as there was nothing on the door to tell me that.

Me and my partner went for dinner, the panini wasn’t crispy but soggy, the owner, older gent, was moving tables chairs and barriers outside, and had no concern for the people who where paying good money whilst he was doing this and also having an argument with presumably the manager, really unprofessional and also the coffee was terrible I asked for a flat white and it was more like a weak latte with burnt milk total waste of £15. Won’t be returning.

I visit Preston only occasonally, but each year over the last 5 years I have called into Bruccianis for a drink and something to eat. Whilst the venue itself is absolutely charming and like taking a trip through a timewarp back to the 1950s, The stnadard of service, value for money and quality of food and drink has never been particularly outstanding. However, I have to say that each time that I have paid a visit, standards have slipped even futher. I echo the comments made by others, because today the staff were more interested in talking amongst themselves rather than serving customers, and as a result quite a queue had built up. I ordered two mugs of tea and two English breakfasts for my wife and I. The tea at £2.25/mug (expensive!) was poured from a teapot and was only lukewarm. The breakfasts which were not particularly cheap were very poor. Sausage overcooked, bacon undercooked baked beans stone cold and the rest of the food barely warm. Serving on stone cold plates did not help matters. This place is living on its past reputation and I will not be returning.

The outside of the building is wonderful and the inside is even more so! But unfortunately as soon as I walked into the cafe I was greeted by grumpy staff that were ignorant and didn’t look like they wanted to be there at all. I ordered a cafe latte and a chocolate brownie. The latte was 3/4 foam and the rest coffee which was kind of annoying bc although I like the foam on usual lattes, there was barley any coffee

Although it's an old favourite of most Prestonians, it's gone down hill so quick after the last few years. No pots of tea, they pour the milk in your cup tea for you (tea/dish water), half filled sandwiches/paninis and slow/rude staff. The only thing this cafe has going for it is the decor.

We had no intention of having a coffee however the look of the cafe looked so quaint and then we were invited to come in and have a look around by I think the owner. As soon as we walked in we knew it was our kind of place and we had a great coffee and a delicious bacon butty! Well worth a visit and the service was extremely helpful, friendly and relaxed - just what we needed after Christmas, thanks!!

Place looks good from the outside, with a wide range of food and drink on offer, at reasonable prices. We went in, found a table and it went downhill from there. Decor and furnishings were a little worn, grubby and in general need of a sprucing up. No menus so we had to take it in turns to go up and look at the board. Staff weren’t particularly helpful, but we stuck with it and ordered. Food was ok, fresh and warm, but the plates were very small, making eating off them a bit of a messy affair. Overall ok but wouldn’t rush back.

Not a fan of bottomless brunches in general, only went for my daughter’s birthday. The food was so horrid it was actually amusing, I thought it was our complimentary starting platter , not a main meal to share with 6 of us 😂 chips, spring rolls and small pieces of chicken that looked and tasted like icelands’ finest. If you’re going for the food don’t bother 😂 The drinks, atmosphere and service top notch though, the bingo is good fun, time flew by. You get your monies worth with the drinks alone, glasses were never empty. Up the food quality and portions and this place will do well.
