Love love love the brownlow, food 100%, staff 110% , our go to place for birthdays and anniversary, had a lovely ice cream with happy anniversary on tonight really made our night, can’t praise this place enough we love it.

Always exceptional. Our go to place for family meals for the last 10 years. Service & food is outstanding, if you haven't been you really should!

The place is lovely, food really nice. Apart from the condescending behaviour from the man on reception, who took our order. Don't know his name, but middle aged man in white shirt. He's rushed us to make a decision about the food. He's made me feel uncomfortable, as I wasn't sure about the size of the meal. He's suggested to choose bigger meal, then he's made a comment that I have the whole weekend to work it off. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour.

Amazing. The most amazing service from entering to leaving. The manager and staff are so friendly and efficient nothing is too much trouble. The food is 1st class.

Oh wowser!!! It is a number of years since I last dined at the Brownlow. My late Wife Dee and myself regularly ate here. After she died, I spent a lot of time in Sub Equatorial Africa working in the supply of water in remote areas. Now that I am ensconced back in Congleton, some of my neighbours decided to take me for a Birthday lunch and the surprise venue turned out to be the Brownlow. There was some trepidation on my part as there were so many very fond memories embedded into the fabric of the building. From the moment I set foot across the threshold, all my unease was dispelled. The greeting and smile at the reception desk was indicative of all that followed. Menus were with us as we sat down and pre-prandial drinks (a perfectly chilled Pinot) arrived with a smooth alacrity. The eventual serving of our meals was done with a professional attitude which is sadly lacking in so many similar establishments nowadays. So too, the presentation of the food on our plates was pristine. The quality of our meals was evident in the emptiness on our plates after we finished. For many years I have said that many people eat with their eyes and not their mouths. Even they, should they visit, could not be disappointed at the artistry on their plates. There will be no problem in future for me to recommend the Brownlow to family and friends. Thank you to the whole team for their friendly and welcoming attitudes. Simon, the chef, did a sterling job and yes, as I said, you do deserve a raise!! My next visit is a certainty and something to happily look forward to. Norman A Dean

We booked the Dine and Stay package and it didn’t disappoint. Rooms are amazing with comfortable bed and a great shower. Food was fantastic. Service from all staff was outstanding. We had a great stay and already looking forward to our next stay.

We’re doing our best to get around the eateries in our area, and the Brownlow was our next ‘hit’. We’d booked for lunch and heaved up nearly an hour early (sorry). The owner was very friendly and took us to a table without any issue. The waitress (Poppy) was fairly new and still learning but she was very sweet. Everyone learns a new job! We ordered the Bobotie spring rolls to share. Two large rolls arrived which we devoured (we were hungry at that point). Then on to the chicken skewer BBQ style and the Tipsy Cow pie. Portions were huge! We noticed other diners around us saying ‘wow’ when their dishes arrived. You’ll not go home hungry that’s for sure. I had to call time on my skewers, but thankfully husband finished the rest off. He still had room for the affogato! All the staff, including the owner, were attentive. We rolled out of the Inn, loosening our waistbands. Great food, great staff and we’ll be back - at the booked time!!

Whilst it’s a bit of a drive for us to visit we’ve always had a great meal so made the trip tonight. The food was spot on, really big portions, came out really quickly and tasted delicious. We were served by Ethan who was excellent all night, really chatty and attentive - making us feel right at home! Just wanted to ensure he gets some recognition as he is a credit to the business - great staff are hard to come by and he will go far I’m sure. Thanks for a brilliant meal as always we will be back!

What an amazing restaurant! We went this Saturday, 17th February 2024, to celebrate my parents golden wedding anniversary and had the best experience. Staff, food and atmosphere all 10 out of 10 Thank you to both front and back of house staff for a wonderful night, we all feel like we celebrated in style!

We came for a Valentine’s meal, food was delicious (beef stroganoff & cheese pie) and service was excellent! We come here often, both as a couple and with family and are never disappointed. It’s our favourite place to eat.

Had a wonderful meal 1st Feb with hubby and cousin, hubby raved over the fillet steak, the burgers were lovely, great food, great staff, we had a new member of staff who was being shadowed, she did amazing as did the usual staff..we didn’t feel rushed or pressured to leave the table (as we had on a previous visit last year) which was great as we had a lot of catching up/nattering to do .. thank you for great food, great staff and good evening, see you soon .Karen

I took a friend for her birthday meal as not been for years. We got there and were greeted by staff and were shown to our table, not long after a lovely waitress named Josie came to take our drinks order, then after the drinks arrived came back to ask if ready to order. I had a bacon cheese burger which was very good and my friend had gammon egg and chips which she enjoyed. The service, food and drink was spot on. Lovely atmosphere and friendly. Need to go back to try their signature pie. We didn't have dessert as we were full but the waitress who knew my friend from another job brought her a lovely plate with just a small bit of ice-cream and other bites, and it said Happy birthday on it. What a lovely gesture.

I absolutely love The Brownlow the service is always of a high standard and the food is so good. The owners are always checking to make sure all is ok and you are made so welcome. Well done to you all for yet another great service.

Children friendly. The only downfall is the parking, which they said they have bought the land for but the council will not give them permission to build. So they cannot be marked down for. I’ve never been before, we came yesterday for family dinner looking forward to a roast lunch dinner. The menu only had a choice of lamb or beef, not liking beef the choice for me was lamb. Within minutes a lady came to advise the lamb “had just sold out” I said I didn’t like beef but no other option was given and I therefore had to have the beef. The meal arrived the Yorkshire’s were not risen and burned. The vegetables were very nice the beef was shaped like a block mine was dry and over cooked. My husband had poured gravy all over his so he couldn’t tell but I don’t like a lot of gravy on my food and I could tell I gave my beef to him. We ordered a burger/cheese/bacon meal for our 12 year old, I made it really clear to the young girl to plead only out cheese/bacon/burger on and no healthy stuff no onions nothing she laughed and said she has a brother who is the same so understands we ordered the adult version as it said the children’s was for 10 years and under. My sons burger arrived with a load of crispy onions lettuce and tomatoes everything we had asked NOT to be added, I took the food off but he wouldn’t touch it having seen the salad was on it! After eating my main it was a massive disappointment to see the man behind us being served a roast lamb dinner when I was told it had all sold out!!!! I had ordered fruit crumble this was a massive portion in a bowl the crumble topping was nice but the fruit underneath tasted like melted jam rather than just gently cooked fresh fruit there was more fruit sauce than fruit making it quite sloppy I had a couple of mouthfuls and left it.

This has to be one of the best restaurants in Cheshire, it is absolutely out of the top draw! We Just had an amazing Pheasant starter and 2 wonderful filet steaks. Superb management, brilliant staff and an absolute credit to all ! ( I don’t normally do social media or reviews but when it is this good I had to do something!) Thank you for such an amazing experience.

‘Twas a grizzly drizzly evening before the annual CrossFest championships. Myself, and my fellow athletic peers, all weary and ravenous after travelling the length of country found ourselves down a dark and mysterious country lane and like a miracle at Christmas, there were the twinkling lights of The Brownlow Inn. Like Mary and Joseph, and Jack the dog, we thought we were going to be turned away as the car park was full to the brim, however, to our delight, a spritely, bald man in a tight shirt, said he would work his magic and find us a cosy corner in the restaurant. After reviewing the vast variety of options available, we opted for a selection of salads, with the most exquisite potato fries and roasted jacket on the side (which were included to our surprise!). They even accommodated an off piste request, a succulent grilled chicken breast. The table fell silent, as we devoured our banquet, fuelling ourselves for the challenges ahead. But like the last pig in blanket, all good things must come to an end however we hope to see you again soon, our friend. With greatest thanks, The 4 Essex Birds

This is by far the best place i have eaten in the past 10 years. The food was amazing. It wasn't expensive at all. Just a shame I couldn't have parked the car up and found somewhere close by to stay.

Visited the place for dinner, booked online. Service was faultless and very professional throughout the night, food has been very well presented and with a great flavour, will definitely return. Staff friendly and on sight all the time, not waited to long for anything. T-bone steak, small stroganoff, fudge cake and creme brulee are presented in the pictures, also tried the naan and the pork fillet for starters and everything was really nice. P.S- Feedback for the owners/manager (may want to consider upgrading the cutlery as they are Greene King type. Nothing wrong with this but they look a bit cheap, and the place is a bit more outstanding) Biggest and only downside-the parking situation is an absolute joke… nowhere near enough spaces in their carpark.

Friendly greeting on arrival, staff were lovely worked very hard and made us feel comfortable. We sat in the conservatory with excellent ambience, food was delicious and plentiful can't wait to return keep doing what your doing ***** 5 star well deserved

Great place and food. Staff look after you, just need the owners to splash out on some land for a carpark. It’s actually hazardous. Cars blocking the road, tiny car park its worse than the m6 on a Friday evening. Please take some extra pride in customers parking, or advise the customers to arrive in an old car to avoid damages.

We’ve just come back from an incredible meal with friends at The Brownlow, let me start by saying we’d been told by a few people how good this place was, but given this was our first visit we had no preconceptions. We absolutely loved it, comfortable and modern surroundings with a hint of country charm, the staff were all super-attentive and we’re all very busy, and smiled though out the time we were there. I had the carpet bagger, my partner had the chicken and bacon salad, our friend opted for the Sunday Roast. All of us were impressed by the quality of the food, the presentation and the speed of service. Drinks were reasonably priced and I can definitely recommend the Winkle BOK ale. Anyway, get a table booked and have yourself a decent meal!

Had fantastic food, and the staff were brilliant (Disappointed I could not meet the bald headed tall jumped-up waiter wearing tight clothing who thinks he owns the place). He sounds like my type of person. A great sense of humour and very down to earth with responses I can understand and smile at. Let’s face it we are the public and we all have different ideas of right & wrong. The staff in hospitality must take a lot of flak and are often judged as being slaves. In my mind not the case and the Girls that looked after us were happy, smiling, and helpful – not what you would see from slaves. Well done girls. My only gripe was the seating we were allocated was very cramped and being old, Fat, and inflexible I found it difficult to navigate. Suggest that slightly smaller tables in the glass partitioned seating would ease that problem. But I was there to enjoy, and I did – THANK YOU
