I have lived close to Haverhill for over 15 years and for the first time I thought as I was going to the Dentist, I'd have a big fry up breakfast just in case it was going to be some hours before I could eat again. I was made to feel welcome on entry and found a table easier, (this was about 11am). I ordered the number 1 and had a cappucino whilst I was waiting. I could hear them cooking it and after 15 mins out in came and it looked lovely. I was not disappointed, very tasty indeed. I was asked when I was going to pay what I thought and I said it was yummy and I hope to be back again soon. Well done Amber Cafe. Keep up the excellent work.

Tasty and affordable breakfast, with a wide range of choices from the menu. Food freshly cooked and delivered to your table by friendly staff. Nice clean eating area, with comfortable chairs and large tables (in case you enjoy reading the paper).

This was my first visit to this cafe. I asked for a chicken burger with cheese and bacon. This was very nice. On one note they need to cut their portions of chips by 2/3 it’s a lot bigger portion than the burger. I did notice small problem with deserts I asked for chocolate sponge and got what I think was chocolate fudge cake. This was just a small blip. They do get to know their regulars. Some of the staff have kids from what I gathered. Overall a very good meal cooked to order.

Wanted to visit a few times before leaving a review to make sure there was consistency. We can definitely say that on the several occasions we have visited for either breakfast or lunch we have not been disappointed, food is always freshly cooked and prepared and always lovely, staff are always welcoming and the service is excellent, overall would highly recommend. Have only added a couple of pictures as we don't always take them.

We recently visited here and had delicious good old London pie and mash, the liquor was superb! Last time I had it was down the Roman Road Bow and it was lovely to be able to have this without going into London. Lovely little cafe, just like the old days before all this take away rubbish. Visit here and you will be back for more!

Nice friendly place and pretty good food too. Went here just to make a change locally at the weekend and enjoyed it. Well worth a visit.

Went for the last time as waitress staff are uninterested when serving food to the table slapping it down same as last visit and a revolting customer coughed and burped all through the meal this time which was stomach wrenching

Great London food staff are always friendly use this place a lot never had a bad one yet, also do fry ups So something for everyone 5 on the hygiene as well One of my favourite takeaway places 👍

This is the best Pie and Mash shop for miles. Proper Mash, pies are very tasty and topped with the liquor what more could you want! Happy , that we have prob the best pie and mash shop around . Keep up the good work guys x

A friend of mine said how years ago he had found a "Pie and Mash shop" in Haverhill so without delay I set about finding it, and find it I did. It also catered for other food so was a little apprehensive on entering the shop but the staff seemed very warm and welcoming and whilst giving my and my friends order I found out that the main person behind the counter came from Woolworth Road area so any trepidation I had disappeared. I don't like my pie and mash being muck about with and regret the old marble tables not being compulsory. My friend and I had a smashing hour reminiscingabout traditional pie and mash shops always with the live eels outside the shop so that you could choose your ell fresh. Without pie and mash shops like Brownies keeping traditions alive and teaching the new generation of old London ways these things would soon disappear. Well done brownies. Yes, I nearly forgot the important thing........The food was great, typical South London nosh. Well worth a butchers.

Excellent fry ups - old school. The fried bread makes it for me. The bacon is to order and you can have eggs any style you wish. The setting is classic cafe, and all the ladies who work there are lovely.Prices are really reasonable- and it comes to order piping hot - unlike the chain establishment a stones throw away.

Often use Brownies, nice friendly people, eat in or take away pies are spot on the only downside for me is the Liquor could be greener and stronger Nice to have a bit of London out here

Every now and again if I’m not working on a Saturday we drop in here for breakfast it’s the best place for breakfast in town in my opinion. You can have a small or large full English or just beans on toast I usually have a small English which comes with tea or coffee for just £3:50

'Pie n Mash' is a great restaurant.

Lovely choices shown on menu and very good prices charged. Staff always polite and helpful and will do anything to help you.

Basic food. Averagely priced Quite grubby , could do with an overhaul Not real customer service. Just get stared at vacantly when you arrive

what a choice of pie mash and liquor. Really traditional authentic pie and mash and liquor! Fast service and you can take away. Friendly staff. Sat upstairs and whatched the world go by.

Great Pie and Mash, by far the best l have ever eaten (And l should know...coming from Bethnal green) I also had to take some to my mum who lives in Rutland waters. ( she also thinks this is the best pie and mash ever)!

Popped in for breakfast. A tad excess oil in the cooking process I think but pretty good value for what it is.

Back when I was younger a long time ago now every high street had their own cafe that dished up the good old full English we affectionately called them greasy spoons Brownies is just that it's a clean friendly old style cafe good value for money and the food while not gourmet is honest and edible.

No se puede superar brownies! Mi compañero y su amigo ir brownies regularmente y voy con mi pareja en ocasiones cuando su amigo no está disponible. Cuando se van juntos, les pido que me mi compañero para llevar una porción de Black pudding ya que es mi favorito. Por el momento, caminamos por la ciudad y hacer algunas compras mi black pudding es frío, pero que sabe tan bien como caliente en la cafetería. Mucha variedad y buen servicio.

We love going to Brownies its a treat on a Saturday Lunch time - proper pie & mash with liquor. They also do a mean breakfast - the best in Haverhill. Tea is served in mugs by friendly staff. All this in traditional cafe setting well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Pie mash and Liquor, jellied eels its a must. Good old east end food. They have the hidden surprise that they cater for everyone including cheese and onion pasties. Bacon Butties and full meals too numerous to mention. Theres the choice of a good old mug of tea or coffee good quality. This place is not what you seek if you want upmarket but if you want tasty very hot and value for money this is it!!!!!!!!!!!

I Love Traditional Pie & mash shops and without one in Cambridge i looked up my nearest shop, Some friends said there was one in Haverhill so on a rainy day off i went to seek it out. I walked right past it and had to turn round as i had missed it, It is a cafe that serves Pie & mash which technically is not a pie and mash shop but in this neck of the woods i can see why they would serve other cafe food. I ordered Pie double mash and liquor end got service with a lovely smile, really great service and family business. Food was good but not as good as a shop that only sells Pie & mash as its main business. worth a visit and i will return again, sells lots of regular cafe food so if you are with someone who does not like it they will be well catered for as well.
