Brosters Cafe in Kirklees

We haven’t been here for a while so thought we would go for lunch ( big mistake ) I ordered chicken fajitas sandwich my husband ordered halloumi flatbread . Mine was so bad I sent it back the chicken was disgusting it was cold and had black veins running through it the salad on the side was on its last legs !!! All that was said from the chef !!! Was that chicken sometimes comes like that ??? Sorry this is a farm shop I expect better than what I was served , won’t be going again !!!

Service is very slow I couldn’t eat half of the breakfast bread,beans,hash browns ect so I asked for extras of something else in its place which they wouldn’t do so I payed £10 for egg,sausage,bacon and mushrooms and the poached egg was hard boiled so had so send it back. Also their website claims the farm shop is mostly locally sourced but the chicken is from Holland would be interested in knowing which of the meats is actually local

All our meals were perfect, from a cheese burger, jacket spud, blackened steak with feta olives, sun dried tomatoes, salad on a flatbread was the star of the show. Very pleasant friendly service, well presented food. We had to wait a while but it was very busy, worth the wait. I’ve not had a bad meal yet, this had to be the best.

First of all you get a lovely view out of the window across West Yorkshire,the food is very well presented and value for money.

Service is none existent. 20mins before my order was take. Food cam without toast. Had actually finished before toast arrived. Very expensive, will nit return.

I went with my family today and although it was very busy we only had to wait for 10 minutes. The staff were very apologetic about the wait we placed our order and even though they were still busy the food arrived a few moments after the drinks and wow, the new menu I had a black and blue sandwich it comes in a wrap type bread and if you like steak with blue cheese then this is for you we also ordered a chicken fajita sandwich and a hot beef sandwich all extremely very good value for money

Staff all have terrible attitudes, from the cafe staff to the butchers in the shop. Not really surprising when the owner has a terrible attitude. Doesn't care about customers. Only cares about profit.

Whilst the view is great from outside tables the quality of food especially cakes was very poor indeed. This was raised but ignored. If you like a cafe with a view then this place is for you, if you like good quality food then I'd go elsewhere.

This is one of the best cooked breakfasts you'll have. Choose between large and small plates - and the large certainly lives up to its billing! Everything hot and cooked to perfection. Nice to see little touches like the choice of fresh or tinned tomatoes and the ketchup arriving slightly ahead of the food so that there's no waiting around once the plate lands in front of you. Great service too - friendly and chatty. The one thing I'd say is that there should be better signage of this place on the road - it is easy to drive past it and just think it is a farm.

Arrived at 9.45 and seated immediately but waited ages to place our order, was told that the orders are taken in the order people arrive but we were 3rd in the place and still waited ages. Food was okay but hollandaise sauce was bright yellow and tasteless. Poached eggs done well. Pleasant staff. Good coffee,

The breakfast is lovely, although the black pudding was a bit tough. Portion size for a regular breakfast is good although I'm not sure why they trim so much off the bacon. Service is extremely poor and has been every time I've been. 10/15 mins to take your order and then 30 on top for the food. Even when it's quiet the service is slow which is a real shame

We visited Brosters yesterday at lunchtime. The cafe was very busy but we were quickly allocated a table and our order taken. Food was very good and service quick. The menu is extensive and pricing slightly less than similar venues. Soma very good experience and highly recommended. We also bought produce at the adjoining farm shop.

very bland food n slow service 15mins before order taken then 25 mins before food served which was as best only average not any taste that would want to make you go again in all very disappointing as I'd been told by friends how good it was supposed to be but to me it wasn't first n last visit foe me

Plus points: nice food and large portions Negatives: Very slow service from order to table. Terrible customer service regarding ordering for a tiny appetite 95 year old. Would not allow order of a child's portion, instead would only allow small adult portion, of which over half was wasted as she was unable to eat. Effectively charging £10 for a small piece of fish. Very inflexible given the circumstances. If we'd thought faster, we would've ordered for my 11 year old and swapped plates. Pricing on par, but whole experience sadly underwhelming. Won't be returning due to lack of customer service.

The good points: Fantastic value for money. We had the Ploughman’s and the quiche. Quiche was obviously bought not homemade but very nice never the less. Ploughman’s was loaded with goodies - pork pie, ham big hunks of cheese. There were home made chips PLUS bread (could offer a choice in my opinion!). The not so good points: The down side to all of the was the amount of plastic! It would actually put me off going again and I doubt very much any of it is recycled. We had a total of SEVEN plastic pots - extra as we asked for ketchup. Why the condiments and coleslaw couldn’t just be put on the board I have no idea! The presentation would be nicer too. Service was average. The girls need to pay a bit more attention to the customers rather than hanging over into the kitchen chatting.

Walked out because after 20 minutes they still hadn't taken our order for drinks, let alone food. It wasn't busy. Utterly shocking "service"

We went to broster for the first time today after seeing a few friends had been. We arrived at about 1215 and were sat at a table promptly. We waited around 15 minutes for our order to be taken, and then had to wait a further 45 minutes for our two breakfasts to come. When we got the food it was lovely, really tasty and good value for money. Definitely worth a visit, but maybe avoid busy times as although they were 4 members of staff working only 1 seemed to be doing much.

Entered at Mid-day today and were offered a table after only a few minutes ... interested to see a sign on the table informing customers that they were limited to a 90 minute stay but soon realised that the service was that slow you were likely to spend that long getting a brunch :( After 15 minutes I attempted to order at the servery but was told to wait for the waitress to take my order ... after 25 minutes I gave up waiting to order and left with my companion to seek food elsewhere.

First time visit for Sunday breakfast. We arrived at 945am and there was a short queue and we waited 15 minutes before we were seated. The views are absolutely amazing and it was a clear day looking across to Halifax and beyond. There’s a good choice of breakfast on the menu and when the food came it was great. Prices were reasonable - the only drawback was wait times as there aren’t loads of tables. But a popular place speaks volumes with people queuing outside for a table.

Called to Elland to see family members , and then went to Brosters Farm Shop Cafe , wife had breakfast , i had ploughmans lunch , the ploughmans usualy get served on a board , but i hate boards and slates , so asked for it on a plate , it would not all fit on a plate so they put it on two plates , and very nice it was and plenty of it , The breakfast was spot on , The staff always look after you and always helpful to please

I heard about Brosters cafe from a friend , so my wife and i went to check it out , Looked after by smiling friendly staff and showed a table , We both had the Horse shoe Gammon with all the trimmings , fresh bread and a good brew , after we looked round the Farm shop , everything was fresh, and good quality meat on show , Meat pies of all descriptions fresh and tasty , we took a meat & potato pie home and it was full of chunks of meat and potato { not the usual mush some people sell } Shelves full of all sorts of goody's , I might add , the Cafe is popular so you might have to wait for a minute or 3 , BUT well worth the wait , we will be calling again next week with family members , I might add another comment please , i see a few complaints as i scrolled through comments , I wonder did they complain to the staff , Super views from the cafe from the window seats ,

Just to make it short. I saw one of the ladies in the kitchen preparing my hamburger and one of the breads from the package fell on the floor. Initially she left it in the worktop but a couple of minutes later she out it back in the package. Probably you'll never know what you eat outside. Not recommended. Not going back anymore.

We called for breakfast and were pleased to see that everything was already up and running before we arrived just before 0930am on a Sunday.A regular and a big breakfast along with 2 coffees were served up within minutes with quantity and quality both spot on. Helpful, efficient staff, plenty of room and a bill of under £15 in total ensured our satisfaction.The panoramic views of West Yorkshire whilst eating are pretty good too.

We called in for breakfast, and were first taken aback by the fabulous view of the surrounding countryside!The staff were extremely pleasant, and with swift service and decent quality fayre, the visit was certainly worthwhile.It’s also worth spending a little time in the shop. Lots of home produce and unusual items to look at!

Thought that although we only had a coffee, we would leave a review as we loved thew view, cafe, staff and prices. Cant believe the poor reviews on here, especially over the last few weeks! I thought the place was clean, service was first class (Really friendly and chatty waitress) and will return to take advantage off their excellent tea and cake offer in the afternoons.

Having been here a few times and have previously left a 5 star review it certainly isnt what i would give them today.. We went a couple of months ago and standards had fell lets say. As went for meat today we thought we would give it a go.Wish we hadnt of wasted time or money. Most of tbe staff seem to of changed and brought food and quality down with them. Wechose two salads which arnt rocket science to make but again how wrong were we. Ploughmans had very bad lettuce all brown and slimey, stale crisps and dried up yolk on the egg and dried up beetroot. The quiche salad wasnt any better witha rubbery small triangle of quiche and salad that was of very poor quality. Its a shame as brosters always had a good reputation but unfortunatly due to new cafe staff and food quality it has now gone down hill.Without standards being looked at and improved it may lose custom.. Maybe if the tattoed waitress was more helpful to customers instead of preening herself then customers may feel more important..

We visited here to buy some items from the farm shop and decided to grab a quick lunch also.

We have been to Brosters many times & Regretfully this afternoon was definitely not good.

We visited the cafe today for the first time. We had a sausage sandwich and I have to say it was lovely. The staff were very attentive and pleasant. We will definitely be returning.

A super place to visit. Great views, good value and wholesome food. The farm shop had plenty of choice

Went Friday lunch time. There were a few empty tables so we didn't think we would have to wait all that long. Wrong! Couple came in after us and got told there was a 15 min. wait, we got told nothing. They had almost finished there food before ours even came out. Got served our coffee within 5 mins of ordering, food came 40 mins later. Had already drunk the coffee. Too expensive to order another 2. Food was not hot but just warm enough to still eat it. Ordered a portion of chips, not as many as you used to get. Just not as good for some reason.

It’s our First Visit and what a Lovely Place it is Staff were very Friendly and the order was cooked to Perfection plus the view and atmosphere was very Pleasant will be our regular place to eat Thanks

Had a fantastic breakfast this morning with even better costumer service form the very friendly staff. The food was very tasty and a generous portion size, with fantastic value for money. Will definitely return soon!

We normally come for breakfast, but decided on popping in for lunch. It was busy which is normal for this cafe. We both chose the lasagne which was full of flavour. It came with chips and salad. Very enjoyable. A little more organisation with service might prevent the wait. It was busy, but a system is needed to log people in. Our waitress Shelley was great though and kept us informed about the wait.

I go to brosters regularly but don't think I will again. I called up this morning for a few bits and was absolutely disgusted to see a member of staff shouting and being threatening towards another customer. This is not something you expect to see in a professional place like brosters and I hope they rethink this staff members position before she ruins their fantastic reputation.

My fiancé and I visited for lunch on a Thursday lunchtime.

Had breakfasts & scambled eggs on toast.Was not over busy.Scrambled eggs on toast had toast you couldn't bite it was that hard.Breakfasts were ok but we were brought our toast for them way too late when we had finished our breakfasts.The waitress then had the cheek to say 'Do you still want this!'.There's better places to visit.

I visited recently with my partner as the cafe is local to us and we had heard good things.

It's easy to miss this place as the signage and car entrance are poor. Once inside it's a cross between an industrial unit and a glass lean to which houses the cafe with views. The views are stupendous. It's cramped and very noisy. Service was not bad given how busy it was. Staff pleasant. The steak pie was really one of the best I have tasted and not a bad price. No sign of any cows in nearby fields so not sure where the beef comes from. However this is not fine cuisine and not for the faint hearted but I would have preferred more pie and less of the great dollop of mushy peas which looked like they had been squeezed onto the plate by an industrial dispenser that had malfunctioned. As they would have said on Masterchef presentation crap but it did taste good. Coffee quite good quality.

The new chefs need to up their standards if they want to maintain this cafes reputation. Sausage sarnie was only just warm and poached eggs not cooked through. Seem to spend more time joking with waitresses than concentrating on the food.

I haven't been here in a while so Me and my two friends decided to have our catch up here but only to be disappointed. The food wasn't up to its usual standard which we found fair enough as it was busy however what we really didn't like was how when you walked in there was dirty plates and cups lying around on the tables and counters which is not what you want to see when you walk into a cafe and when your eating your meal. Its a real shame as this used to be a great little cafe

Having visited brosters farm shop cafe numerous times and having fantastic breakfasts for the whole family, I was very disappointed to see one of the waiters mouthing and signalling swear words through the glass into the shop! I bring my children here and after that I won’t be returning - breakfast was ok not up to usual standard looked like it had been thrown on the plate

First visit here for breakfast meal for thee Adults and one child resulted in clean plates all round . Food and price pretty good but seemed little point in booking a table as ours reserved a week in advance wasn’t ready and we had to wait until one became free.

We go with our toddler twins and they are wonderful. You don’t even have to ask, they just make everything so easy by bringing over high chairs and making sure they put hot cups and plates away from kids. The food is always finished by all of us, great place, we love it.

I found my most recent visit to this farm cafe rather disappointing. I had the big breakfast as usual but the bacon, sausages and tomatoes were .'cremated', black in appearance having been cooked on a pull down type of griddle.. Fried eggs not quite cooked.Clearly not what I have previously experienced. My review would be 1 star but the American coffee was excellent.

We called in for a drink and a hot sandwich. I had a bacon and Spam sandwich and my wife had fried egg and Spam sandwich. Both were very tasty and enjoyable. The service was very good. Excellent value for money.We will be back.

after driving past this farm shop many times over the years,and threatening to visit it, today we visited it, and was impressed with both the farm shop and the café, after looking round the farm shop we went to the café for a drink n treat, we had a capacinno and vanilla slice,and they was delicious and the view from the café windows it out of this world, and the staff were very friendly and helpful, we shall be returning again. and was suprised at the cost of our treat £5??? for 2 caps, & 2 vanilla slices., the only downside is, theres no disabled bays and the car park is on a slope, which is not good for disabled people like my 77yo disabled mum who is NOT to good on her feet.

I have been in the cafe on quite a number of occasions and have had nothing but good service and food, it's comfortable the staff are welcoming and helpful and it's my number one place to meet with friends. Carry on with the good work

Been in Brosters quite a few times to use their shop and have eaten in their cafe. Value for money in both parts.

We are regular visitors of brosmber of years. On our visit today we found the staff to be awkward and a bit dim. The sausages were foul, tasted like cheap low meat content sausages. When this was mentioned to the waitress she just ignored us. When we paid we asked for a till receipt as well as the card receipt, the girl behind the till was so simple she couldn't understand what we were asking for. We won't be back in a hurry and I hope you don't pride yourselves on those sausages.

I had heard good things from friends about the full English here but we didn't even get to that! It was a busy Saturday morning when myself and two friends went for breakfast and we expected to wait a little while for a table. What we did not expect was to enter the cafe, have 4 different staff members walk past us multiple times with no acknowledgement...not a smile, not a hello, not a 'we are busy, you might have to wait'.... absolutely nothing! Manners cost nothing! Please inform your staff of this. We also saw one of the cooks touching the food with her bare hands-taking fried eggs off of plates and putting them on a side plate clearly to be used elsewhere. I would have expected utensils to be used. Found another farm shop down the road which was absolutely beautiful food and excellent customer service.

I visited Brosters and firstly the views were pretty impressive, with a great view of the countryside.

Fabulous full english with great quality food. Always great and priced reasonably. Visit the farm shop after for good priced meat.

visited in afternoon just after lunchtime rush. Smart, pleasant staff. Table service so no queuing. Always nice to see cooks/chefs wearing hairnets and hair tied back. Portion size is on the large side. One portion of chips easily feeds two alongside sandwiches/paninis. Good menu choice and also a childrens menu available if needed. Staff are quick to tidy and clean tables and fill up condiments. Will certainly visit again..

Me and my boyfriend decided to try and find a new ‘ farm shop cafe’ , after getting tired of the constant queues and noise at Bolster moor .

Very nice and well filled pannini. Quite busy so service was a little slower than we would have liked.Only fault was the price of tea.

Visited with a friend for a bite to eat on Saturday at just before 3pm after a recommendation.

The meat in this cafe, is reared on their own farm, so you are eating what you see in their fields. It does'nt get more local than that.

Went for lunch with family and ordered steak pie. The menu offered mushy peas but as I do not like these I asked if garden peas or other vegetable were possible. We were surprised to be told that no other vegetables were available especially as the adjoining farm sold a good range of fresh vegetables. However the steak pie was excellent and the service good.

A visit to Huddersfield is not complete until I have had my Brosters meal, my favourite is breakfast but this time I had to settle for lunch. As always it was wonderful as always. Every meal is topped off with a selection from the desert counter and a creamy cafe late, then a stroll around the farm shop.

Visited the cafe after a hospital appointment as fancied a breakfast and hubby recommended it. Although the portions are huge the food is simply average at best. I had the full English which was all a little bland for me. I was really disappointed as was expecting the bacon and sausages to be delicious been from the shop. I even added salt and pepper to my food which I never normally do. My food was also all a little undercooked for my liking. I know this is something that’s down to personal preference but I prefer things on my breakfast to be a little more cooked. My toast was more like bread, the mushrooms were barely cooked, bacon was floppy so I left most of it.

We decided we ought to try the cafe for breakfast after going in the farm shop the previous day and so I was walked up, with two children, from Elland.
