Great place, delicious coffee, cakes, bread and sandwiches lovely people, nice surroundings

Utterly baffled why this was full at 10:00. Coffee was nice, pastries were just dough, not well done at all. If this is a danish bakery then I don’t want to go to Denmark. Sourdough bread was obviously baked the night before and small.

Yum! Cute little bakery on the outskirts of Cardiff, parking isn't great we found a side street. Let's of choice I couldn't pronounce any of the cakes, coffee delicious and the bakery products super tasty and fresh, well worth a visit. Cost us under £14 for two cakes and two coffees. Ps the toilet is amazing lol!

Shockingly rude staff! As I walked inside, one of the staff was talking just outside with a couple. Inside were two members of staff. One was making coffee, and the other serving the only person in front of me in the queue. The member of staff who had been outside, came in, walked past me, and also started making coffee. I stood there for 2-3 minutes, during which time not one member of staff acknowledged that I was there. So I walked out. I had been there to buy bread and some cakes. But due to their rudeness, I took my custom and money to another baker’s directly across the road from them. - Where I was not ignored, and the member of staff who served me was polite and friendly. It had been my first time inside Brod, and due to their rudeness, it will be my last visit.

Probably the best coffee and pastries in the Cardiff area. I had the Cheese and Chutney sandwich which is always fresh and delicious. In previous visits I have had the pepperoni snegl, mature cheese and tomato snegl and the Mad Brød - all three absolutely delicious . This cappuccino is for me hands down the best cappuccino I have ever had. I go there every week and it never fails to satisfy. The staff are also amazing. Thank you Brød.

Visited Brod at 1pm on Sunday, staff are rude and unwelcoming. As I went to grab a menu to see what coffees were offered. I was shouted at by a blonde woman (staff) with a bob that there’s no point looking. (We were stopping in for a coffee) Wouldn’t bother wasting your money.

Amazing cafe. Like being in Denmark Being originally from Denmark, the bread is like being at home.

One of our party was treated very badly by one of the staff. Some misunderstanding about seating led to harsh accusations by staff member and caused great offence. Shame, coffee was good but with that sort of attitude we're unlikely to return.

I was bullied by a waitress - avoid at all costs. Brod was our regular for our group of 10. Until yesterday when a server named India (dark hair, blue eyes protruding bottom jaw) was unbelievably rude which shocked our entire group, forcing me to leave the premises and with the rest of our group vowing to never return. As we were a big group we asked to move two tables together. When doing so, India marched to us and said "I'm going to stop you right there, as you did exactly what I told you not to do we can't get through you have to move." Extremely rude, abrupt, confrontational and completely unnecessary. I then moved the chair and didn't look at her as I knew she would be even more irate then she genuinely announced in front of our entire group: "There is NO reason to look at me like that and pulling those faces" bear in mind I deliberately didn't make eye contact as she was such a handful to begin with. It ended by me defending myself and her talking over me and one of the girls in our group coming by my side and telling me to leave it as India was not backing down. I got extremely embarrassed and left as soon as I could leaving my entire coffee without touching it. When speaking to management, her first response was "India is not usually like that". Every time I've come in as a regular she has always been rude and extremely entitled. I do not believe that my conversation with management will result in action being taken, especially as the owner lives in Denmark. That one member of staff had cost Brod roughly £3360 in missed renevue alone (12 coffees at £5 roughly x weeks in the year as we went there religiously every week). My hope is to warn people about the service and that they promote and employ a bullying type mentality of staff and for something to change. Please do not go here and to the senior members of staff at Brod, I ask you to take serious consideration into removing India from your workforce. I am more than happy to provide any kind of contact details from other members of my party who witness the shocking attitude of India, please don't just take my word for it, take 8 other people's who were all left speechless consoling me by her awful attitude.

I have just discovered Brod bakery off Newport Road and wished I'd known about it sooner. The gentleman (sorry I didn't get your name!) Was very helpful and knowledgeable. Lots of choice of sourdough bread and it's very fresh having been baked just a few hours before. Coffee was great and savoury cheese and marmite pastry was very tasty. Marmite was very subtle which worked well for breakfast! I've not eaten the sweet pastries yet so can't comment on taste but they look good. Pricewise it is more expensive than a trip to Greggs etc but it's a lot better quality and we should all be doing more to support smaller local businesses where possible.

This is an elite bakery! In all my travels I love heading to a bakery to get myself a sweet or savoury treat, and this sits top of the pile. At this place I got both sweet and savoury due to the excellent selection on offer. I had a cinnamon swirl that was beautifully soft with delicious flavour of cinnamon and white icing. For the savoury treat I had a cheese and pepperoni swirl, that again was beautifully soft and packed with unbelievably good cheesy flavour. If you’re in Cardiff it’s well worth heading up to this part of town to grab something!

We try to visit this cafe on our visits to Penarth. Very clean and friendly staff. Always popular so at time no tables available. Food was great.

We came here today (02/09), as we had recieved a voucher as our engagement present. We had been on our honeymoon to Denmark, and we couldn't wait to visit and try out some Danish pastries again! The Creme Smegl was absolutely amazing! Highly recommend it. The cafe itself was a good size, with outdoor seating out front, and I think they had a courtyard too. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. It's a shame we live 90mins away, otherwise we'd be there every week! Phenomenal.

I call in here regularly for pastries and bread. Today I had the focaccia sandwich with falafels and salad and a liner tart. All delicious. I look forward to my next treat from Brod Penarth.

Always visit when in Cardiff. Lovely shop and staff. Best pastries around. Custard Spandauer £3.10 and Overskaen £3.15 still warm cant beat it. Sit in or takeaway.

A distinct lack of savoury items for me, but great little café with nice drinks and sweet foods.

Lovely little Danish pastry shop serving delicious Danish pastries breads and coffee. You can sit in and enjoy the smells and atmosphere or takeaway. Sadly, I only had time to takeaway I tried the Overskaren - Three flavours in one. A flaky layered pastry where one end contains marzipan and white icing, the middle is filled with custard, the far end with cinnamon and chocolate. Perfect I can not fault. Service with a smile well worth a visit next time I am in Cardiff.

I went to the Hatch which is just off Cardiff Road and near M&S. The place its located is a little hard to find and could use a bigger sign. The server I met there was friendly and helpful. I could not pronounce some of the bakery items, although I did have ago. All I can say is that the pastries are lovely and so is the pear tart.

Just really tasty food and drinks paired with excellent and friendly customer service, I'd recommend it to anybody to swing by and try this bakery!

I love Brod, unfortunately visited too late and much of the items I wanted had sold out. Danish breads and cakes are the best....❤

Lovely atmosphere, great coffee and pastries and an amazing service totally focused on the customers even saying thank you to customers leaving even though they were really busy. Will be going back soon

Called there today at lunch time, but was told there were no tables available which was fair enough. So purchased some bread and pastries to take away. I must say the lady serving was not particularly helpful or pleasant. I won’t go out of my way to return.

Had the apple danish which I found the otter rings rather dry . The middle was Moist due to the apple. Coffee- flat white was good. Was expecting a high level of pastry as much talked about.

Very friendly staff and a perfect spot for a bit to eat and a bonus that the dog was allowed in as well!! We all absolutely loved the different selections danishses and the fresh produce... was definitely a highlight to our stay in Cardiff! Would definitely recommend and will be back soon

Would have given it more points but I see they took advantage of Covid to go cashless. That's not socially acceptable. Apart from that its ok although I note that the sandwiches have shrunk in size since I was there two years ago.

A fantastic Danish Bakery with breads, cakes and coffee to die for. It was so good we went twice in two days. There’s room to sit inside and outside and there is also a little garden area. Absolutely make a trip out of Cardiff here, it was amazing

Really nice cafe, the coffee was very good and I'm not normally a pastry guy but it was delicious. The cinnamon finger/slice was great, staff were friendly. I liked the little background and how the owner was inspired by their grandfather to bake.

Amazing bakery we are here visiting family and this is one of the nicest bakery shops I've been to in ages. Stunning products super tasty and great selection. Vegan options too. The rhubarb and ginger pastry is incredible

it would appear Brod do not wish to provide worthwhile afternoon hospitality to the public due to - 1,.Depleated menu choice, sad looking uncovered food on display 2.External sunny airy seating area closed at 2.30pm prompt , not forgetting Covid is still with us, we were banished to indoors ice cold air conditioning 3,Seemly dis-interested staff 4. Suggest close the after lunch to public, allowing staff to clean up and shut up. 5. No help to assist disabled customer on crutches, to make up a group table

Honestly love this place! I come often, and enjoy it every time. The staff are super nice and friendly, and the service is lovely. My favourite is the cream snegl thing which is to die for. They also serve coffee and savoury foods!

This place is absolutely wonderful! Delicious and very reasonably priced baked goods, lovely drinks, a homey and sweet environment, and extraordinary service! The people running the bakery are just the loveliest.

Have only ever gotten too good to go bags from here as it's quite pricey BUT the food is delicious, the cheesy/pizza swirls are to die for and so are the cinnamon rolls. Bread is beautiful and always fresh, despite being past its best.

Great bakery with fresh pastries

The bread is well baked and has a dense structure, I was bit disappointed of the cinnamon and apple roll.

Staff were lovely. Coffee and pastries on the pricey side. Couldn't drink my flat white unfortunately (poor taste).

Really friendly staff and great atmosphere! Would personally recommend the Danish parties the most (it is a Danish bakery after all). However slightly upset as I bought 4 items but was charged for 5. In all fairness I should have checked the receipt but I live quite far away and went there especially to visit their bakery so couldn't return to let them know :(

Seen this on line a few times and while I was in cardiff I was passing so decided to go in and sample some of their cakes and bread, and they were fab, worth popping in if you are in the area

Been meaning to visit it for a while, and today it happened! As a group of three, we visited around about 1020. Inside, it has about ten 2 seat tables and was a bit busy. I was happy to just get a takeaway, however the server said they were happy for us to join two tables, which we did. Our order consisted of 2 tomat og oste snegl, one custard spandauer, one jam spandauer, one kanelstang, one Æble snegl, two pots of tea and a mocha. Food was served up quickly with the drinks following soon after. Food wise, my two snegls were flaky, full of flavour and lush! I was gutted though when I sampled some of the tomat og oste snegl, which was super moreish and the cheese was amazingly zingy. We spent a good 40 minutes in a very friendly and chilled place, and will be attending again to try more Danish pastries. I also bought three more tomat og oste snegl and a mad brød (pepperoni) to go. I'm so looking forward to trying these later!

Very nice food and drinks, especially the freshly squeezed orange juice. However, I was a little surprised we were given our cakes in paper bags instead of on plates, especially as it was clear we were eating in.

A warm, friendly welcome, even though it was late on a very busy Sunday afternoon. The flat white was tasty, the rhubarb pastry not too tart nor too sweet, just full of flavour, moist and flaky. I had a sourdough loaf which made some excellent sandwiches the next day. Parking was tricky but I did find a space nearby. Can’t wait to go back again soon. Highly recommended.

I lovely coffee shop and Danish bakery In the heart of pontcanna and Canton In Cardiff. Lots of selection of coffees and teas cold drinks and pastries and fresh bread.a lovely eating experience with a cafe garden in the back as well. How highly recommended rustic would feel slight being in a Danish bakery. Highly recommended and the tasty treats are very nice as well.

Shame the cafe isn't open to sit inside, they are the only place I know right now that's still using vivid as an excuse not to open up

Ok so bread is good, cakes are special but twice I went there and it was closed, mid week lunchtime ish so can't be relied on. Also card payment only for a few pence so another wasted trip. Just stopped going there in the end.

As a dane working abroad I was very pleased with the shop it has a "hyggelig" atmosphere. If you are looking for a little taste of Denmark this is the place to go. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it is a little pricey and I'm a cheapskate ;) but it's well worth it.

Super impressed that Brod has taken on the Halloween challenge with several delightful pastries including a green custard tart! And coffee was excellent too.

Although their Danish Bakeries products is different, its overall premium quality is impressive and never failed to standout. Their specialty coffee is decent as well which makes it the best bakery-coffee combination in Cardiff. Not to mention the friendly staff.

I really like Brod - the range of pastries and breads is great, the staff have always been lovely. It's card payment only and I can remember finding the hours a little awkward in the past but I guess past a certain time there's no snacks! Sit outside only at the moment but there's a nice Halloween display in the window, and lots of Halloween themed sweets.

Found this cafe open on a Sunday. Very clean and friendly staff. Food was great. The beef sandwich was excellent. Well done. On our next visit to Penarth we will definitely visit.

Good coffee and cakes to take away or sit outside with on the few pavement tables the have. Nice rye and wholemeal bread too. Tables a bit too close to road traffic however.

A solid Danish bakery with good coffee, an assortment of pastries, breads, sandwiches etc. no service inside due to COVID which is understandable but the staff are friendly and genuinely happy to see you. They were patient with me while I chose from way too many good looking things. The Appel spiegel is highly recommended.

A one of a kind experience, the only Danish bakery I know of for miles around. The food is first class- a great range of baked treats, breads, sandwiches etc, and great coffee and drinks too. Decor is nice, staff are friendly and seem genuinely happy to see you, and the whole thing seems well run and organised. I have taken the family here MANY TIMES! They also kindly give my children a small bread roll for free, which is nice.

First time shopping here...spoilt for choice so we bought 4 pastrys which were delicious 😋 defffinetly go back...very lovely friendly staff..

Tasty pastries and really good coffee which we had to takeaway. Interior warm and welcoming. The staff here were lovely and as I was the only one at the counter stopped to chat and ask me about my day and imparted some local knowledge.
