From the moment we walked in a young lad serving was sarcastic towards us, and when I asked if it was all right to sit at one of the tables he said that's what chairs are for. The menu choice is limited and meal cost is quite high, girl who served us was lovely but heard lad being sarcastic about other customers too. A visitor on a lovely day out in Chester. Would not eat there again.

Firstly I'd just like to say that the young lad who served us was fantastic, really nice and polite. But the food is overpriced for a bog standard breakfast.

I really liked this cafe. It’s simple and unsophisticated but the service was good. The front of house staff were enthusiastic. Menu fine with plenty of choice but quality average and not cheap. It hit the spot for a quick-fix and better than the fast food alternatives. The decor and furniture would benefit from an upgrade but that was also part of the character. Children very happy with food. I would have given it four stars if it had not been for the food hygiene rating of ‘3 generally satisfactory’. I usually only eat in 4 and 5 star establishments but had hungry children to feed.

Nothing fancy but great Kimbo coffee and a lovely young waiter who, upon serving me, actually said, and like he meant it!... " I really hope this is the best coffee of your life". Such a refreshing change from the mediocre, couldn't care less attitude in some of the pretentious coffee shops in Chester. These guys certainly deserve a tip! RECOMMENDED

Had a small breakfast and avocado on toast. Food was nice and fresh! Was able to substitute food options which was fantastic for the picky eaters. Service was superb, staff were very friendly and helpful! Always available when needed. Overall amazing and superb service! With really good food!

Good place for lunch. Lovely omlettes (we had one "Spanish" and one "Turkish") each with a good balance of ingredients and beatifully cooked. Well-chilled Coke and a good hot chocolate. The kitchen can accomodate your allegies and preferences. Nice service. Two lunches and two drinks £30.30. Recommended.

Went in this lovely cafe on the 9th June excellent service lovely staff also very kind.i have a medical condition and they very kindly let me back in the cafe at closing time to use the toilet facilities again nothing was too much trouble

Evie,Shirley, Angelo Ella and Angelo enjoyed lunch at this restaurant today. The menu is a nice mixture of traditional omelette, burgers and sandwiches but all perfectly cooked and with an option of a Turkish Twist. My wife throughly enjoyed her Turkish beef Omelette and Son his steak burger and myself my Brie Cranberry and Bacon Panini. The service was attentive and polite and the service was prompt and polite A very pleasant surprise and we will definitely make a return visit

Great spot i love in chester so whenever i come into town for breakfast i come here, they do a cracking fry up and the staff are all lovely cant recommended it enough!

Wouldn’t recommend. Have just left after being told we are “making trouble” by the man behind the counter. Firstly, my toastie was undercooked, barely toasted with the cheese not melted. I politely asked for it to be cooked a little longer in order to melt the cheese. They took it away and put it in a microwave, and so it came back soggy and greasy. I pointed this out and the server said it would be cooked again from scratch. Meanwhile, my partners breakfast was awful. Chewy tough bacon, watery sausage, overcooked fried egg without a runny yolk, and enormously greasy hash brown. She ate what she could so as not to make a scene, but left over half the meal. When I went up to pay, I said I would happily pay for the toastie and two drinks, but would not be paying for the breakfast due to her only being able to eat some of it. The man behind the counter shouted at me and said I’d complained about everything and had been causing trouble since I came in. He was extremely rude after providing a sub standard meal, and told me to get out. Please bare in mind that it takes a hell of a lot for me to complain about a meal, and I’ve never left a google review before, but his food quality and then aggressive and rude behaviour was completely unacceptable.

Had lunch here yesterday. Very pleased - simple and delicious food at a very reasonable price. Good service. I had a sausage bap and sweet potato fries, all came piping hot. Husband had a bacon and fried egg bap - also delicious. It's a fairly simple menu - nothing pretentious. Just what we wanted.

Staff were great however it was very expensive for the food and they didn't even put butter on, so was dry and crunchy. Food was prepared Infront of us which was nice but the cafe wasn't very clean, toilet was covered in mold.

Having visited a long time ago, we were surprised it was still open, it looked different inside, obviously a new owner. There's a large step down, which was a challenge for us both. The waiter rushed over and helped us. The menu was good, what you would expect from any good cafe. We decided on the small breakfast swapping the mushrooms for an extra egg. I had the tomato soup and a bacon sandwich. My Mum said the breakfast was excellant, tasty and good quality. Mine was good too, plenty of bacon on the sandwich. The meal was really good, there was attentive service from a very friendly man. We would definitely go back.

Great little cafe in the heart of Chester. Food is prepared right in front of you by a hard working chef. Coffee tasted great and we both had poached eggs on sourdough toast. No complaints at all. Cakes also tasted great we had those while waiting for our lunches because we were told when ordering hot food would be about 20-30 minutes. Could understand this every table was full. Worth the short wait. Definitely go back prices excellent, staff friendly and food tasted great.

Got 2x Sunday dinners delivered at the cost of £29.80 consisted of a tiny portion of beef 4 roasters and peas. Was over an hour late and cold. Couldn't give lower than 1 star cause it would not let me post review

Order 2 roast dinners what arrive was over 1 hr late. Consisted of 1 roast potatoe peas a Yorkshire and a tiny piece of meat. Cost over 30 pound. And delivered freezing

We ate here on Christmas Eve. The food takes a while ( around 15 mins) to come but it’s worth the wait. Large portions of good fresh food and value for money. The servers are very kind and respectful. We enjoyed it.

We visited this cafe for some breakfast and it was delicious so decided to come back in the afternoon for some hot chocolate and it was as good. Very friendly staff and delicious food would definitely recommend it.

Great, unpretentious place on Bridge Street. Very good full breakfast and a brew. Friendly service. Staff much friendlier than some other places which were "fully booked" at 9:30am on a Monday. Will return.

Me and my family really enjoyed our trip to this beautiful little cafe, the staff was very friendly and the prices were reasonable for the size of the meal, we will definitely come back again.

it’s the first time that I have ever ordered from this eatery. The food was great, and it came in a little box, which was left completely untainted by the food so I am going to use it for something else in the home. Nice little bonus which I appreciate.

We have been to this cafe lots of times over the years and it’s always great ,the food is always good the service is excellent, you can sit in the middle of Chester and watch the world go by.

Smallest piece of cheesecake iv even seen also covered in berries and sauce not mentioned on menu was binned the bacon batch for £7 was awful

Not sure what’s gone wrong here. Was great when I visited a couple years back but not so much now I’m afraid. Place needs a bit of a make over. Looks tired. Service was very slow and the food was just ok.

Asked about gluten free was told could t have anything I questioned a potato be told oh yeah can have that Made us feel very welcome Asked for coffee not much coffee in the coffee Asked for sourdough avocado bacon poached egg no mushrooms no salad but 2 grilled tomatoes And it came with 2 hash browns The meal came one hash brown salad mushrooms not sourdough They took it away came back with above but no mushrooms still salad no grilled tomatoes aWe asked about the sourdough they said what’s sourdough that’s bread we said it’s brown sliced bread not sourdough they asked and we were told no sourdough Don’t think they ever have it as she didn’t know what it is Tuna crunch minus sweetcorn too I feel this place are cutting corners by adveothings and hopping customers don’t complain it was awful tbh and they didn’t care

Wrong order was brought out, then later told they had ran out of our order. Left waiting half an hour and no service to place a new order

Ordered a cup of tea, with skimmed milk, only to find out they only ever have full cream milk, so if you have an allergy this is no good for you. My friend ordered a tea cake which looked like it was threatened with the toaster, as it wasn't cooked. So basically we had to send it back to be toasted, and I had to have my tea without milk!!

The food was not all that good .I had an omelette but it tasted like it had been cooked in oil that was old .The fries were frozen and not fresh potatoes and they tasted the same .The cafe needed an update the tables were scuffed and the toilets need work.This does not usually bother me if the food is good but in this case it wasn't. Sorry

We were just looking for a cafe for a “proper” English breakfast, we came across this place and didn’t really expect much. Instead we had a beautiful breakfast, great portion size, lovely staff and cheap prices! Definitely would go again.

Awful service rude staff waiting 45 minutes for sub par food

My wife and I called in for a cuppa while exploring Chester, we had already eaten so didn’t try the food. Just wanted a drink without going to a generic chain coffee shop. The people there were really friendly and offered some advice on places to visit. Worth popping downstairs to look at the Roman ruins while you’re there.

Walked in and got a table straight away. Had a large breakfast and it was simply delicious. I would gladly go there again, you won't be disappointed 👍

Very disappointed. we ordered tomato soup with bread. We got tinned soup and two slices of cheaper supermarket bread with a light spread of margarine.

Service abysmal. Waiters walking past and totally ignoring us.I had to go to counter to order, everyone was surly, and once finished main, kept ignoring dirty crockery etc. Staff didn't. appear to interact with other customers.Disappointing meal, as, before the atmosphere was so much better

Do a lovely small breakfast, perfect every time

Service and food were terrible. Overpriced, smelt like we were in a bowl of grease. I had a steak sandwich I couldn’t chew the steak and left the lot of it, my husband had a cheese sandwich and the bill was £28. When we complained the chef just looked at us and took the money. Never again.

Hi, we visited as a group and looked ok . There didn't seem to be an ventilation in the place , just a strong smelling of food and it wasn't long when the smell hit my clothes . The food came and there was a lot of effort gone into it and it was good. I went to the toilet and it was damp smelling and miserable, broken toilet wouldn't flush. All in all great food but let down by no ventilation and terrible toilets , would I come again No

Fantastic local cafe. Beautiful full English. The rest of the street seems to be massive chains. We always to to avoid these, and go for local run places.

My friend and I asked if we could view the roman baths underneath and they kindly said we could. We were impressed given that we made no purchase within their establishment. It really is a hidden gem.

Make sure you triple check your plate for allergens. Found pieces of egg on my fiancé's plate despite telling them that she had a serious allergy. They offered to make a new one and completely forgot 15min later.

I was recommended this place by my friend AND I LOVED IT. The service was quite fast and staff are very attentive. I ordered the sun dried tomato panini and it was REALLY good and worth the money. If I had to say one thing, the portions were a little big but that’s not a bad thing :)

Ordered a breakfast barm and my wife ordered cheese on toast .Not on the menu but the waitress said they can do it . Service was slow even though there were 5-6 members of staff . When we got our food my wifes cheese on toast was one piece of toast with a blob of cheese on it and had been microwaved to melt the cheese .. When i was paying i mentioned this to the girl who apologised and said the grill was broken . Might be a good idea to mention this before you nuke something to death and maybe ,offer alternatives . In all honesty i dont think they knew what cheese on toast was . Lastly on walking through to the bathrooms you can see into the kitchen wash area , this was a real mess with waste spilling out of the bins onto the floor and general refuse scattered around . Not good but explains the 2 Food Hygiene Rating this business has . Improvement Necessary . Yep .

£5 for 4 pieces of toast. I asked for plenty of butter and got slightly buttered with extra ones for me to add whilst I did a take away walk. By the time I put the cold lumps on they were cold. Cafes should just butter as asked. Avoid

We had our lunch here today, while the food was getting made the chef decided to pull out his vape and continued smoking this while cooking our food. Not what we expected so won't be eating here again

Terrible breakfast. Previously visited with my wife and received excellent service and food, today was the complete polar opposite. The young lad who served me, had a poor attitude and seemed to think he was some kind of gangster. All of the staff I interacted with, appeared to be hungover. Asked if I could substitute mushrooms for an extra slice of toast, but this request was completely ignored. Ended up with no mushrooms and no extra toast. Everything was overcooked, apart from the toast I did receive, which was like having bread and butter. Not sure if it even saw the toaster. The fried egg was so over cooked, that the yolk was solid. When I went to pay, I wasn't asked if everything was ok, so I just put it down to a bad experience and my wife and I won't return. Wasted money and feel ripped off, for the price.

Came here with my mother. She had an omelette, I had beef brisket sandwich and I got food poisoning. This was the only thing I had eaten this day, and my mother was fine, so must have been the beef.
