Lovely friendly Pub went back twice food was excellent all very clean and nice atmosphere would highly recommend Shame it’s so far from home

A fabulous meal with some family over from China - one who had never been in England before and wanted to try fish and chips. The staff were lovely and very accommodating- allowing us time for multiple translations and a lot of jollity. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and the visting family were suitable impressed - as were we. Thank you to the Bricklayers Arms.

Had the Carvery today, best one I have had. Could not fault it. Lots of Meat, everything was fresh. Staff were very friendly. Will be back.

Never judge a book by its cover, we booked here whilst staying in the area on a recommendation at the Holiday accommodation. When we pulled up we weren't really sure what to expect, it's on a busy road and looks a little tired, but we had booked so out of the car we got . Wow I'm so glad we did, we were met with a warm welcome and the inside was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We were shown to a couple of tables to choose from. Drinks were bought to us quickly and menus, such a good choice. The food was absolutely to die for. The meat was so lean and well cooked. The waitress super attentive without being over the top. We ended up having 3 courses it was all so good. I cannot recommend this place enough and will certainly return when staying in the area again.

Shocking lack of knowledge about their menu, they have vegan food which contains milk!!!!

Nice atmospheric pub, a little tired from the outside, until you enter this charming space. The meal portions maybe too big, as just couldn't manage a sweet. Great service ! Recommended.

Great food, waitress are lovely and polite. Always had excellent service in there until tonight. I am a local which took me and my wife with 2 teenagers and a 1 half year old. Pub says family friendly if they don't want a Littleone running around then they need to put family's in another room. Wasn't waitress was a guy in flowery shirt. Now as explained he asked for her to sit down so she not running around whilst everyone else is eating. There was two family us and a elderly couple. If it was packed I would of understood it wasn't. Since I have lived here that is my go to place for food but after that I think I will give it a miss for a while. If the bloke could understand you try and keep a Littleone entertained especially when there park area is shut off. Thank you so much to waitress for making it such a comfortable visit but shame it was ruined don't like littleones change the pub to not family friendly, or make family's sit in another room then you won't have a issue. Sorry but when I pay 100 quid for family of 5 we should be able to enjoy our time there aswell. Just update: the review my child was not running around alone my 15 year old was with her making sure she was not doing anything that would cause issues or damage. I am also taking this to bateman's direct aswell. I did not want a confrontation with landlord or manager so I just left instantly. No wonder it's empty with no families so sad.

Service very friendly, generous portions on all dishes. We both had creamy garlic mushrooms to start and they were delicious I could have drunk a gallon of the tasty sauce. My wife had a 3 cheese pasta bake with chips which was very tasty and enormous. I had cod and chips which was beautifully cooked, hearty and delicious. We will return here next time we are down and look forward to sampling other items from the menu then - we couldn’t manage a pudding today as we were too full

Food smelt good but couldn't stop, delivering fuel ,but maybe back .....

Fantastic meal here with my wife and 3 children. Food was delicious, waitress was friendly and helpful and the pub had an authentic feel to it. We are not from the area and could not believe how reasonable the prices were here! Would definitely return if ever visiting the area again.

Stopped off for lunch, we hadn’t been for a while. As before, a warm welcome and lovely food. A large cod and ham and eggs (perfectly cooked) were gratefully received. Chips are fab. This place is also immaculately clean. Will be back soon!

Excellent welcome Brilliant service and food

Fantastic food and service. As someone mentioned earlier, Bateman’s XB is served much too cold for beer. As cold as that, which is ok for lager, kills the flavour but probably put through a snake with all the other drinks. Was perfect on our previous visits.

Fantastic meal, prompt service and a warm atmosphere. Having just moved to the area we were able to book a table at short notice. Greeted by friendly staff and the food was delicious. Large portions at reasonable prices. Will be returning!

Staff were friendly. We were a large group for a meal. All meals were pre ordered over a week in advance. On arrival we were informed the mixed grill had gone up in price, when questioned we were told we had received the wrong menu, but we had got it off the menu on line which we had been told to use, and still the price was still the same on line when checked, a small increase ok, but £11 is crazy. Some of the desserts that were preordered they didn't have, but weren't told until other desserts were ordered on the night

Hopefully just a bad night at the Bricklayers. Been here 3 times now in past 18mth whilst staying locally on a midweek break with family. Both times before the meals were excellent and reasonable priced for good food however this week there seemed to be limited menu available as asked for a couple of things but told they had run out. Son settled on a 10 oz steak but to to be honest 4oz of it was gristle! I had steak and ale pie but more like a starter portion. Wife's ok but nothing to write about. All in all a disappointing experience this time especially as prices ( I do understand current inflation situation) have gone up 20%+ from the website menu!! But the quality is well above 20% worse. Will be over there later on in the year so hopefully some positive reviews and apologies might sway us to try again.

We visited on the Friday morning as we were leaving a near by site after holidaying. The breakfast buffet was absolutely fantastic. We were really stunned about the value versus quality. Absolutely fantastic meal. The service was attentive but not overpowering. Our 3 year old son wasn’t hungry so we were not charged despite having taken items from the buffet for him. The hosts didn’t need to do that and it was incredibly kind of them. We will be revisiting every time we go on our holidays. What a perfect little place for breakfast. I can’t wait to have an afternoon meal here, too!

A meet up with work colleagues for a midweek meal, so we chose to visit the bricklayers. From start to finish the staff were friendly and polite and nothing was to much trouble, we preordered our food so we did not have to wait to long for it to arrive, and when it did we were all very pleased with the choices we had made, good sized portions, piping hot and very tasty. I personally will return even though its a 40 minute drive from my home.

Found this little gem by accident on way home from holiday, they do the most wonderful buffet breakfast everything you could for the Danish pastry were to die for the cooked breakfast was delicious good quality ingredients the staff cannot do enough for you if your passing you must try. The only downside it's to far for us to visit.

Friendly welcome as we brought in our excited young old English sheepdog. Food choice was great. Food was great, all came away overfull. Elements of the food were exceptional, the rest just good. Really liked this place and it's so nice to come with a dog and have it welcomed, not rejected or barely tolerated. Good value too.

Popped into the Bricklayers Arms on the off-chance looking for a nice place to celebrate our 4 year wedding anniversary meal, and we couldn't have found a more welcoming, friendly, warm atmosphere anywhere else. The service was perfect, and the food was absolutely amazing. Garlic mushrooms were beautiful, 10oz steak was cooked to perfection and so tender. Toilets were very clean and well stocked. 5* highly recommend

So glad we decided to make our first ever visit to this place. Lovely ambience on entering and the staff were excellent throughout, including a warm welcome for our dog, who was also offered a drink. Service was attentive without feeling rushed. Spotlessly clean throughout and a good menu, which is available all day. Some of us had 3 courses and all were lovely. If you are in the surrounding area you should definitely give this place a try …. we travelled 20 miles to visit and will definitely return. Keep on doing what you are already doing - one of the nicest pub lunches we have had in a good while.

The meals are good quality home cooked. Good portion size. The prices are on the expensive side . Good kept beers a d plenty of sitting. Small enclosed play area. Plenty of parking

Found this place on the route to our holiday, service was friendly and quick, garden was nice for the kids, food was excellent and very nicely cooked with good sized portions, the chef even came out to ensure we were enjoying it. Great place and would definitely recommend for good wholesome pub food. Reasonably priced as well

We were for somewhere to eat and noticed the Bricklayers was only 3 and a bit miles away from where I we was fishing and staying at Green haven also recommended,phoned them and they had a table for 2 available (last one) The food was absolutely fantastic served by a friendly waitress,it was that good we booked for their carvery the next day and that was even better. If you are passing drop in ,you won't be sorry!!!

Fab character pub with good food and excellent service

From the welcome to leaving we were well looked after. The menu was extensive and after asking for recommendations from our server we all decided on the Fish & Chips. A generous portion of home made chips and a real piece of fish covered in a nice batter (ie not you usual pre-packed pub fish & chips). The food was great. Appearances are deceiving as the outside is a bit plain. However, the inside of the pub had character, style and well laid out and the toilets very clean. We will certainly call again and maybe try the steak & ale pie!

Family staff great food and service

We enjoyed a superb family carvery lunch here. Couldn’t really fault it in any way with a great selection of beautifully cooked roast meats and vegetables. Friendly and helpful staff. Not the cheapest meal, but quality was such that it was excellent value for money. Will definitely be going back.

Stopped for lunch and what a treat, had the 2 course lunch menu and the food was delicious, well presented and generous portions. Will definitely stop off again when in the area.

Found this pub purely by chance and what a great find. Friendly and helpful staff. Very good selection of food which was promptly delivered, well presented, lovely and hot and huge portions. So good that we returned for a second visit later in the week....

Hotel? News to me. So far as I know,it's a pub/restaurant. We've driven past it many times, but it doesn't look all that so we tended to ignore it. Then, a friend told us the food was good, so we gave it a try. You know, the food WAS good; but there's not much atmosphere and the staff came across as pretty disinterested. Overall, we went there, we tried the food, it wasn't bad. BUT. We're not going to be rushing back there any time soon.

Despite the restaurant being very busy and the waiting staff were clearly pushed, they did an amazing job. The food was lovely, very hot and perfectly cooked. The wine and beer was served well and we would highly recommend

From my experience in the past I do want to say the owner is in the wrong business you can have good food but need to be polite also. Maybe if you are feeling miserable maybe just put a smile on whilst you’re working. People want a warm friendly welcome when they enter a pub not the feeling you are a nuisance.

Very nice roast dinner, refreshing to have a traditional roast available in the evening rather than just for Sunday lunch! We have just had an excellent lunch - highly recommended!

Good staple pub grub cooked well, service was very pleasant

We arrived at 8pm to be told no food as it had stopped (no problem) so we stayed for a drink. We had travelled 2 hours. The bar staff began to share the pastries from the bar with a group of regulars ‘rather than waste them.’ We were asked to sit on a table in the corner on our own and we were the only other group (2 of us!) in there but totally ignored and disappointed that the girl did not even think to ask us if we would like one. Might be petty but definitely made to feel unwelcome as we were not local!

We didn't stay here hence why I'veonly given a 3 star My wife and I came here to have dinner to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We were greeted by a very welcoming young man called Joseph who was absolutely fantastic. He sat us down, got drinks sorted and brought the menu to us. I ordered Fish and Chips and my wife had Belly Pork, the meal was lovely and the service was fantastic. Joseph was very attentive but not intrusive, a real credit to the Bricklayers Arms. We would highly recommend eating here and if we ever come back to Mill Farm Leisure we will definitely come back for another meal or two.

Such a cozy pub in the winter months plus a great outdoor space when it’s warm enough to eat outside. The Sunday carvery is absolutely amazing - no surprise they are fully booked every week.

Not as family friendly as they make out. Only children over 14 years are welcome unless your friends. Maybe they should have offered a bit of empathy for a young mum with a crying baby instead of belittling her in front of other customers. Would avoid!!
