we booked last minute, they were very busy , food came in reasonable time, excellent food and friendly service

We had Sunday lunch which was the best we have ever had. The food was absolutely amazing, cooked,and presented to perfection. The staff looked after us with consideration and in a very pleasant manner. We asked for information on the attached caravan park and Vicki took time out of her busy schedule to explain all to us. Thank you for an enjoyable afternoon, we will be back, to sample more of your hospitality and the caravan park.

We was a party of 8 that went for a meal, I had a fillet steak which was very thin and not worth the money. We all had three courses and spent just short of £400 and as soon as we put the last mouth full in they brought the bill at 10.30 then told us to leave the table and go outside, we said we had a taxi collecting us at 11pm which on the sign outside it said open until 12 . They said well we are closing now. So we did go outside to wait but one of the party went to the toilet, then a girl member of staff shouted to us could we refrain from using there toilet as we are going to lock the doors. After spending that amount it would be more polite to ask if anyone needed the toilet as we are going to lock the doors.Very rude staff & not the best food so will not be returning

Every time we go it never fails. The food is always tasty, hot and well presented. The service is attentive and excellent. All in all you can’t beat it.

On holiday and because we dint know the area we pre booked Sunday lunch. We couldn't have chosen better. Starter & sweet 100% , Would have prefered the beef to be rare, but these days it "rarely" is, affordable wine. friendly staff - we loved it.. A general comment about restaurants, not just this one, why do they all insist on having overloud background music which causes diners to almost shot at each other to be heard, all completely unnecessary..

We visited the Thatched Cottage for a lunchtime meal with friends and phoned ahead just before travelling to check that they could accommodate us. On arrival we were asked to sign in and as it wasn't too busy were allowed to choose our table. There was qnti-bac gel for our use at the reception area. We all ate from the bar menu. Two of our party had chicken stack, one ordered the beefburger and one had scampi. Our meals were cooked to perfection and were very tasty. The desserts were delicious - butterscotch tart, chocolate brownie, stawberry pavlova & icecream. We all said that it is one of the best meals out we have had for a long time. The young waiting staff were helpful and friendly and were wearing face masks. The bar and restaurant has been altered since we last went there a few years ago. The owners have done a marvellous job with the refurbishment. We will certainly be going back there when we get the opportunity for a meal out again. Thoroughly recommend. Keep up the good work it was a wonderful experience!!

Very nice resturant in a lovely location. We were staying at their caravan park( also we highly recommend!). Sunday lunch was really good, the beef I had was lovely and tender and came with a plentlful supply of vegs. My wife had the salmon which was equally good. The staff are all friendly, polite and our service was quick as well. Altogether we would highly recommend here.

The Thatched Cottage helped us plan the wedding reception that enabled us to celebrate safely with our family. The bar staff were always on hand to serve us and brought our drinks to our table. For anybody who is getting married during these times and want an intimate wedding reception that is safe and intimate, we recommend you enquire. The Thatched Cottage have beautiful grounds which allows the Bride and Groom to go away and have their pictures taken. Visited with friends to celebrate joint birthday of our wives. Food was fine but the lack of any real Covid protection was very worrying. Three different members ofvstaff attended our table during the evening, all stood right up against our table looming over us and NONE of them wore a mask!!! Which is frankly just not good enough

Sunday lunch, last week, but beware during Covid-19. Good food as before but none of the staff wore any PPE. Not fair to staff or diners. No control of diners arriving to book in for track and trace. We stood by the table at the entrance as a sign said on a table, asking us to wait to be greeted. Another couple came in behind us and the female was moaning about how long it was taking to sign in. As they had arrived a waiter had appeared from behind us and just said to sign in, then we had to double back and rightly paste next diners behind us, who were still grumbling. A strange set up, and not adhering to the hygiene rules. Sas really. Maybe they think out in the country it doesn't matter? Book up your ideas Thatch

Rang on the off chance I could bring my elderly mother after our doctors appointment Thursday day time, the lady on the phone was competent and said there wouldn't be an issue if we was to be later than originally planned. When we arrived we were seated in a quiet area, we was happy with the distancing and when we arrived with our masks on, it was mentioned by the lady on shift that if we required her to wear a mask she would do so, which made us feel they were taking it all seriously even though we declined the offer. The service was lovely, there was a tall gentleman on shift who brought out or meals who was very friendly and smiley. With my mother having dementia, she is a bit on the slow side but we was given loads of time and wasn't rushed at all. I believe her name was annalease, came over a few times and was polite, funny and very accommodating to our needs.The desert was spectacular and the senior menu is a fantastic idea! Hats off to the chef, and the staff on that day - thank you very much for a lovely meal. We will return.

Good food and service and good precautions for self distancing. Menu was a bit restricted from normal but there was a specials board which helped with more choices.Found it a bit pricy when the bill arrived and all totted up, didn't mind too much but with it being £28 for a fillet steak and sauce, which i think is pushing it a bit for rural Lincolnshire.

Thought we would take advantage of the EOTHO offer and the Thatched Cottage popped up on the list of local eateries. We had never heard of it before and thought we’d give it a try. I was a little apprehensive having read some recent reviews about the service but am happy to say that the service was absolutely faultless. There were 3 ladies managing the bar and restaurant service and they were all so friendly and extremely helpful. The food was delicious, top quality and plentiful - the menu stated that it was reduced due to Covid but it seemed like a full menu to us with a wide variety of choices from the a la carte and bar menus. The offer meant that the bill was extremely reasonable that night but we will definitely be returning to the Thatched Cottage Restaurant again anyway and are so pleased to have a found such a local gem.

I recently stayed in Sutterton for a week and had several meals in the cottage, and popped in just for drinks. The first meal was great even though the gas was out and they couldn't do chips, onion rings or fish and the like. I had a burger and they fried up new potatoes. The onion rings are fanstastic, must have if you like onions. The staff are very friendly and the place is spotless, the toilets are immaculate, the outdoor covered seating area for drinks is a haven. They seriously could drop this place into Chelsea or Knightsbridge and hit the ground running. I couldn't find fault with anything, and didn't need to send anything back, it was all just well timed perfection by friendly professional staff. The locals are lucky

Visited early evening and food was very good however our evening was spoilt by poor service and issues with social distancing. Not given correct menu not offered dessert menu and unable to speak to a staff member or exit through one way system as a crowd of 10 were stood at the bar ordering individual drinks.

It’s not difficult to be polite and accommodating. Yes times are testing at the moment but business is business. I was looking forward to my afternoon tea but was poor, very poor. Bar manager (I presume) is in the wrong job! Rude and unhelpful. The selection was poor. No cake just scones and minute brownies. Ok it’s eat out to help out, thank goodness, cos I wouldn’t have been happy paying £30 for what we got.Will not return and certainly won’t recommend.

We have always been a fan of the Thatched Cottage recommending to friends and family. The staff,food and drinks have always been great and the place itself is clean and welcoming. Sadly we left this time feeling disappointed and angry.Whilst eating our meal I could see my husband wasn't enjoying his and asked what was wrong. He explained something didn't taste right and having smelt his steak I could see why! It was vile! When the waitress who had been previously attentive and welcoming came to collect our plates we explained that the steak really don't smell great. Immediately her attitude was cold and frosty and she stomped off saying she would speak to chef. The Manager came and had the same indignant attitude asking what was wrong. We explained and she informed us the meat was delivered daily and it couldn't be off. Whilst this may be the case, the meat was clearly off and we explanined we just wanted to make them aware so they could check the rest of their meat. At no point did we ask for a refund. However at no point did they apologise or offer anything other than a cold, unhelpful and downright rude response. Having paid our bill in full we left feeling utterly furious. Poor show Thatched Cottage. We will not be returning and will frequent other locals who are more customer focused.

We had a lovely family afternoon tea today to celebrate my birthday. Fantastic presentation great food. Staff very friendly and welcoming.Following all the covid guidelines. All food that wasn’t eaten the staff packed up for us to take away. We also visited last month once again great food the salmon starter was to die for. Photo attached. can’t wait for our next visit. In the difficult current times at the moment we decided to support one of our local restaurants. Wednesday is their special offer grill night. My husband and I had the mixed grill deal. Each consist of a rump steak, gammon, Boston sausage, pork loin steak and a lamb chop, and a bottle of wine for only £40 served with mushroom, tomatoes and chips. The steak was cooked to perfection. My daughter and her boyfriend chose the buy one get one free burger offer. Both burgers looked really tasty one being a chicken burger and the other a beef burger, both served with chips and a side salad. They both really enjoyed their meal. The lemon meringue pie and sorbet was amazing the presentation was top class. The service was great the atmosphere as very relaxed.

Really nicely renovated pub, great ambiance. Most helpful and cheerful staff, customer service at its finest. We had a mixture from the restaurant and bar menus, it was no trouble for them The food was excellent Highly recommended

We had Saturday lunch here with my elderly mother in law. It was very quiet (only one other table taken), but ideal for us. We liked the way you could order from either the bar or restaurant menu, which were quite different - mother in law was quite happy with a chicken dish from the bar menu, while we enjoyed the fine dining from the restaurant menu. The service was friendly and efficient with no lengthy waits for our food.

We visited on a Wednesday lunch time and waited 50 minutes for our food to arrive! We were not warned there might be a wait! Disappointing service.

First class again. A party of 38 was organised here last night. The food was superb, it was served up hot and cooked to perfection, what a feat for so many meals. The staff were great and so organised. Lovely place and will be back soon.

The location is great, right at the side of what used to be the main road, is an old building which has been updated inside, but still with plenty of atmosphere. Low beams (so watch your head if you over 175cm tall). Reasonably busy but with plenty of staff that was not noticeable. The main menu had something for all four of us and we had all made our selection when we were asked if we wanted to see the "Seniors Menu". Well that changed all our choices. Two or three courses option with again enough choice to suit all of us. Good portions of excellent food at a reasonable price. Very attentive staff what more can you want. First visit YES last visit NO. For non-locals, who are travelling from the South towards Boston on the A16, turn off at Sutterton roundabout for a mile. Well worth a small detour.Merry Christmas.

Despite the Restaraunt being fully booked the staff coped very professionally.Having a bar lunch the wait time was not as long as expected service was faultless and the food excellent

Really beautiful food! Lovely starters and One of the best steaks I’ve had it was so tasty and full of flavour. Nice gin selection which is always a bonus!

We arrived into the bar area where we had a very long wait for drinks due to the waitresses serving those in the restaurant. Once we received our drinks we asked to go to our table, the table was presented well however it is not big enough for the amount of utensils and glasses on them. I found the menu rather lacking and there didn’t seem to be the usual dishes you would expect. Lucky we went on a Wednesday so we had the steak night offer which is 2 rump steaks and a bottle of house wine for £30 which is a good deal. However the steak was very fatty and had lots of hard bits throughout. Others on our table had the halibut which they said was very dry and would have been much better served with a parsley sauce or hollandaise. The service throughout was slow it seemed that they were short staffed even though there was only a handful of tables in the restaurant. I think the staff may need to be trained in coping with and organising their workload. I would recommend the cheeseboard- that is good value for money. I don’t think I will be rushing back here.

Restaurant wasn't busy and we were seated quickly. Service was slow to take order for drinks but did offer a bread roll. Ordered mains - both steaks to be med/rare.One steak was over done so was returned. When the replacement arrived the other party had already finished their meal. Plates were then removed very quickly and we waited for the dessert menu.... and waited.... after 20 minutes we left and went home for dessert. Overall not a good experience and can't recommend the restaurant.

Welcoming. Great staff. Food superb. Seniors lunch £10.95 three good courses. Lots of choice. We booked but was not necessary when we went. Parking in car park or nearby. This is a real find and we will be back!

First visit since reopened, fantastic food, service and presentation, good choice of beers and wine - will definitely be back

First visit on 13/10/19 my birthday with my new husband after marrying on 11/10/19 also with my brother and his Partner. We all thoroughly enjoyed the meal and all chose starters from the grazing board then 2 of us chose steak while my brother chose a lamb curry and his partner gammon. The food was delicious, staff very friendly and the refurbished restaurant was lovely. We were too full to have desserts but finished with coffee. Thoroughly recommend if you want a lovely meal in a beautiful setting. We would all go again.

Excellent food and service also good value for money, nice sized portions. Very clean and well presented rooms, would not hesitate to recommend a visit.

Enjoyed a family get together Sunday lunch. Looks lovely from the front but the back is basically a car park and characterless, paved patio area. The food was variable. Pork was good, beef was tender but tasteless. Table service was good, but stretched as it got quite busy. Bar service was slow. Overall it was ok but we won’t be rushing back.

It's a pleasure to find somewhere that is not expensive and the food is very good, the wines are excellent you don't have to worry about the rattle and clang of the pool table because they'res not one, no ducking darts because they'res not any, just good food and good service

Absolutely wonderful afternoon tea. Fantastic selection of sandwiches, savouries, scones and cakes. Plenty of tea and even got an after eight mint when paying! Definitely worth going.

We were greeted by a Polish lady who was very welcoming throughout our stay. The food was very good, the decor and ambiance of the place was delightful, but most important of all we were made very welcome by the afore mentioned lady.

Enjoyed some interesting and unusual food combinations here. Generally the food was of high quality and well presented. However, a very simple staple for a restaurant- the chips - were awful. The couple on the next table took theirs home for the dog so it wasn’t just me!!!

Afternoon tea here is an absolute delight. So many delicious treats to enjoy. Staff were very kind and attentive. Thoroughly recommended!

Really impressive architecture and atmosphere. Food was good. Would have got 5 stars but for their 'pie' being a casserole with two pieces of puff pastry. A pie should be filling encased in pastry. There should be something in the trades description act to say you can't advertise a casserole with some bits of pastry as a pie.

Not being local and needing somewhere to eat at lunchtime we stumbled across this place. We definitely made a good choice. A warm welcome and lovely food made our visit most enjoyable. When we're in the area again will definitely revisit.

It is well worth pulling off the main road for a lunch here. A reasonably warm welcome and a menu that has some more unusual aspects. We had the tapas style dishes, all very pleasant and not too expensive. The renovation has worked well although to me there is a slightly odd mix of old beams etc with more modern aspects. A nice place to have a meal.

Had a lovely evening with family for our granddaughters birthday, everyone enjoyed there meals and the presentation was great, would definitely go back again

A year on after the last ‘reopening’ and we went back to celebrate the news that we were to be grandparents all over again.

We visited here for a 50th birthday meal recently.as soon as you walk in you notice striaght away how lovely and clean the restaurant is.the staff are very freindly and nothing is too much trouble..the food also was lovely.there was 17 in our group and there were no complaints from any of us about the quality of the food that was served.will definately be booking here again in the future

My partner and I went for a meal the other night, lovely staff, lovely atmosphere, the food was a bit over cooked but we will visit again

Attended with friends having booked a table on a Tuesday to take advantage of a senior's special between 12 and 2pm. It wasn't particularly busy although there was a larger group on another table who arrived some time after us, and one or two other couples. Food was ok from a limited menu with the seniors special deal providing smaller portions. Other menu options are also available at full price. Service was quite leisurely although there was quite a long delay between main and dessert. What me and my friends thought was really poor customer service, was the way in which two other elderly ladies were treated when they went to pay. We were standing next to them also waiting to pay and they were querying their bill. One of the ladies was being charged according to the seniors special pricing and the other lady was being charged the full menu price. They both thought they had ordered from the the special menu and asked to pay accordingly. The waitress explained that one lady had a larger portion from the full menu, hence the higher price. The waitress apologised and admitted it was her mistake, but as the customer had the larger portion, there was nothing she could do to reduce the bill. This stance was further supported by the manageress. It was clear to all in my party that these two ladies had obviously attended to take advantage of the seniors special, but through a mistaken belief of the waitress, one was provided with a dish from the full menu, for which she was charged full price. No refund or reduction was offered and two very disappointed senior ladies left unhappy. Not the best way to ensure good reviews. In addition, I am aware that a personal friend had been to this restaurant recently, sat in the restaurant area and ordered something from the bar snacks menu. Although the restaurant was empty at the time they were asked to return to the bar area as they had ordered from the bar menu. I know this restaurant has only recently re-opened and been refurbished, but they need to seriously improve their customer focus if they expect repeat business.

Most excellent, we have to admit that we have not received a poor reception and better than that we have not had anything but good food and service, have already booked for more and can't wait

The restaurant has recently been refurbished to create a wonderful atmosphere.We all ordered different meals, each equally superb. Staff had been trained to a high standard and were very efficient. Would highly recommend.

Group from work met here for an evening meal before Christmas. Great food. Nice portion sizes. We can't have been a big earner for them as we were almost all driving so very few drinks bought. But we were not hurried, and sat for a good hour afterwards, to chat and catch up with no pressure. Lovely venue. welcoming and friendly staff.

We came as a party of five for a work Christmas lunch. The meal was excellent as was the welcome. The pub looks fantastic now it’s been remodelled, will definitely be back.

Menu here is great, varied and allows you to pick from the bar menu when you're in the main restaurant. The dishes are well presented and plentiful. Service is good, although the waitress could spend more time in the restaurant than chatting to the bar maid. The recent refurbishment is very well done with great fixtures and fittings. There is a very nice function room in the back for special occasions.

We recently booked a table here as we had not been since it had reopened my Wife made the booking by e mail and received a near instant reply confirming the booking. When we arrived we were shown to our table in the restaurant we were offered water which was nice. Orders for drinks and main course were taken my Wife had some good advice about her drink as she choose something different to her normal. I had already decided what main I wanted before as I love a mixed grill when the food arrived all looked and tasted delicious my plate was very full and I wasn't disappointed. All the waitresses were very friendly with some good banter which we like. We all choose a pudding mine was nice but not as good as the main. I would highly recommend The Thatched cottage for a great meal.

Three of us went for Sunday lunch recently, I went a little reluctantly because I am no fan of Sunday lunches but having been here I think I may be a convert!

This is our first return trip since the new owners have taken over. The refurbished building looks lovely and is very clean though I feel some of the character has been lost. However I can’t fault the friendly staff or the wonderful food. It was very tasty and obviously homemade and has been no where near a microwave! We shall definitely be going back very soon.

This has long been one of our favourite restaurants. The refurbishment has been done very well. We were welcomed by a pleasant young lady and given the choice of eating in the bar area or the restaurant. We chose from the Seniors menu (only available Monday and Tuesday) and were all pleased with the quality and presentation of the food. Smaller portion sizes meant we managed three courses and the price was reasonable at £10.95. Will definitely go again.

Sunday lunch for 6. Food was overall of a very good quliaty though the treacle sponge was not quite as some would imagine and hope. Upon arrival we called at the bar and despite the venue having only just opened and only a few people in we were not greeted by the young staff at the bar who simply looked at us to see what drinks we would like. After being served at the bar with drinks we were asked to take a seat in the bar area and wait until our table for the meal was ready. We had only been seated 30 seconds and someone came over to say would we like to go through. Service in the restaurant was fficient - the bar manager helped with serving and had a good rapport with diners - the young staff aged 18/21 lacked individuality and personality and were a little robotic in their approach and the restaurant would be best learning that interaction with its staff is also a factor as to how frequently you are likely to attend a venue again in addition to the food provided. As stated at the start the food was very good. The potatoes were slightly hard and the treacle sponge may not be quite like some expect but overall the food was good. They did bring a bread basket around for you to select some bread but I did note that when the next table some 15 minutes later were offered bread the choice was very limited to what we were offered. As this was so early in the day this was surprising. A tip for the owners would be to reduce the bar prices slightly and see if they can attract more frequent bar only custom particularly perhaps during the week when the restaurant is not as busy.

I visited the Thatched cottage for lunch today with my daughter and granddaughter. Staff were very welcoming. I ordered The Thatched Cottage Burger and it was delicious. Presentation was excellent. The burger was cooked to perfection. I have a taste of my daughters curry and that was very tasty. Can’t wait to return and try another dish as it all looks so delicious. Great variety of dishes.

Thought we would give this place a try as it's not far from us. Booked a table for Sunday lunch. The service from start to finish was good the food was very nice. All in all a good visit. We will try out the evening menu with friends soon.

Found The Thatched Cottage online as it sits halfway between our home and our friends so seemed a good place to meet. We had a excellent meal, with great service by friendly, helpful staff. We will certainly meet here again.

Lovely new beer garden behind the Thatch. Not tried the food yet but the refurbishment is very nice and the staff were friendly.

Glad to see this place open again and to see how carefully the building has been preserved as part of the renovations. We ate in the bar and the food was both tasty and good value. I’m not sure why people are slating the price here. It’s comparable to Boston and it’s not a drive through. Food selection is good and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Service efficient and the place was scrupulously clean. We will be back and I’d recommend it too.

As Family we have been to the Thatched Cottage and sampled their Sunday lunch, A la Carte menu and the Bar menu all of which have been both tasty and cooked and served to a very high standard. Cannot wait to sample their Christmas Day lunch the menu sounds wonderful. We cannot recommend this restuarant highly enough.

We had a fabulous family lunch on Sunday at the newly refurbished Thatched Cottage in Sutterton. There were 30 of us in total including 8 children. We were located in the function room which was light and airy and everyone was impressed with it. The food was delicious and the service outstanding. We certainly have no complaints and would highly recommend it in fact some of us are looking forward to returning one evening to sample more of their menu.

The Thatched Cottage has undergone a fantastic refurbishment creating a warm and welcoming bar/restaurant. However, the ambiance wasn't helped by being virtually empty. The birthday meal for my wife ruined by terrible food. Out of 5 people only one thought the food good but vastly overpriced. The other four thought the food poor or average at best. For poor to average food the prices are ludicrous. We are a party that has no problem in paying for expensive food but expect it to be at least good to exceptional. The linguine was a stodgy gloopy mess. By far the worst was the so called chicken kiev. All 5 of us were shocked at the overcooked brick that was served to my mother in law. All of us could see it was way way sub standard even before my mother-in-law tried to eat it. Why couldn't the chef, server or maitre d see the blindingly obvious. We had to ask for a steak knife in an attempt to cut into the so called chicken kiev. Can you believe it, a steak knife for chicken. Even the steak knife couldn't do it and we had to ask for another chicken kiev. This took an age to arrive even though the kitchen was shut by now. I accept it had to be cooked again from fresh but we had all finished before my mother-in-law had even started. To cap it all my mother-in-law was sick during the night. By the way chef, the dish was breaded chicken with a garlic butter dipping sauce, it was not chicken kiev. I like to cook and find a chicken kiev quite difficult to get right. However, I'd be ashamed to serve such a spectacularly awful meal. We wouldn't return to the Thatched Cottage under any circumstances.

First visit since reopening,will also be last!!the restaurant looks good and refurb was very well done.sadly that's where it ended. Menu was small and not very tempting,service was VERY slow and not conducted in a professional way.food was unacceptable at the price,and presentation was awful ,looked as though the chef had thrown it at the plates from a great distance!!!NOT a good evening and final touch I spent the night being sick

My first visit here since revamp and what a difference bright, welcoming, and clean. A joy to have linen tablecloths and napkins and waiter service

Best meal out in a long time. The young lad serving us was very attentive . Defiantly will visit again .

We live local so we can walk to the pub.we are having some friends stay in August so we tried the Saturday meal before inviting our guests.

My husband and I ate here this evening (Friday night). The interior of the restaurant is lovely, very clean and beautifully decorated. The waiting staff were very friendly and their timing is right on. They obviously keep an eye to see when you’re ready to order and ready for next course which we appreciated.

Wonderful food, well done inside and excellent seating outside. Great Sunday dinner too! The mushroom and leek linguine was to die for today!

1st visit since the thatched cottage reopened its doors, it has been nicely refurbished with an extended outside / inside area. The staff member in the restaurant was cheerful, pleasant and welcoming , friendly and nothing was to much trouble, it is a pity that this was not uniform in the reception by the bar staff on duty on the same evening as there was a marked contrast and as front of house this does not give a fair representation of what to expect. The food was pleasant enough but quite pricey for this area, and all our party struggled to choose from the somewhat limited selection on offer. This was not a busy Friday night and perhaps a change of menu & prices would increase bookings as this is not a venue in a main town where you could perhaps encounter many walk in customers. Personally I don’t mind paying for good quality food but when it’s mainstream trying to be Michelin starred to contribute to renovations then I do object, all in our party agreed that it unlikely that we will dine here again and a loss to the restaurant as our bill was in the region of £300 +

Would have been nice to give a proper review. The opening times need amending to say that although open until 3 pm, there is no chance of getting anything to eat after 2 pm because the kitchen is closed! Came home from holiday, unpacked car, walked dog intending to call for something to eat. It was just before 2pm and we were told "kitchen closes at 2". No offer of any sandwiches, baguette, panini or toasties or salad, even if nothing could be cooked. Why aren't these on the lunchtime menu? Not everyone wants a cooked meal between 12 and 2!

This restaurant was already booked by family member for a special family anniversary, we had already chosen our meals a week before as there were 14 of us as they emailed the new menu. You could see the place had been refurbished and extended and looked great from inside and out. Some of our party had been before and said it was excellent and they were right. All 3 courses were excellent, recommend the pork and black pudding main. The waitress that served us worked hard and was a credit to the restaurant. Would definitely recommend and return when in the area again.

Had a very poor Arrabiata with garlic bread which had no garlic, ale also not very impressive. The pub is pleasantly situated however close to a childrens playground.

Came in today, I had the sausage and mash, friend had the mixed grill. Lovely food, reasonable prices. Will return

So pleased to see the Thatched Cottage was again open, but sadly our visit was a total disappointment. An unacceptable wait for a far from acceptable and expensive meal. The menu is very limited, but despite this, the duck and a dessert crumble was already not available at 7.30pm on a Saturday evening. How is that good management? The gentleman on the adjoining table was served a tiny piece of steak because that was all they had left. The new part of the restaurant totally lacks ambience and until another diner requested that the lighting be dimmed and a little music added, it was like sitting in a canteen. We were surrounded by other diners either complaining about their food, or the lack of it being served. Not the best environment for a pleasant experience. To sum up, it was abysmal. I felt sorry for the waitresses having to field the complaints. We will certainly not return or recommend to our friends. Such a shame that they have got it so wrong.

My partner and I visited last Saturday night, the restaurant menu was small and slightly dissapointing, however the food we chose was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was very good. The restaurant and bar is lovely and a fantastic improvement. We will definitely be returning.

Heard good things from friends about the newly opened thatched cottage and wasn’t disappointed. Renovated to a very high standard ...it’s beautiful.

Like other recent reviews, no warm personal welcome and this was a theme for the night as regards to table service.

The building has been renovated to a good standard and the place now looks clean and cared for. The draughty old conservatory has been replaced by a lovely bright building that now looks inviting. The decor is light and bright and there are fresh flowers on the tables. All good so far. 10/10.
