Beautifully presented food, which tastes as good as it looks. All cooked and served by college students, it had the wow factor. Each dish tasted delicious and highly recommended. I felt covid safe with all guidelines being followed and the atmosphere was relaxed and happy. Wishing these young learners the best in their chosen careers.

We were 6 Family member visiting Lime Restaurant for a Christmas Menu. From start to finish we loved the whole experience. Food was fantastic! I was so very impressed with all of it, service, food, everything top quality! We got fish knifes for fish dish. Not had that anywhere else! What a fantastic course for anyone to be on. Well done everyone. We will see you again, soon.

Wow!! I was not expecting food to the high quality we received. It was better than most a la carte restaurants I’ve eaten in and the best Christmas dinner I’ve had. The four course menu was elegant, well presented, different and tasty. The students also had exceptional service skills too. The salmon was so unique and the pudding looked like a piece of art. It’s a must go.

The Starter and dessert were lovely. The main course was appalling, the leeks were so salty and the fish was so overcooked and dry. I had to leave the majority of the meal and for me to leave food is most unusual.

As the pre-Christmas period is so overcrowded with activity, our Boston Quiz League team decided to get together for a meal in January and we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and silver service at the Lime Restaurant at Boston College! The young waiters and waitresses were very attentive and even hung up our coats at the beginning. We were directed to a large rectangular-shaped table for ten people which made it easy for us to see and speak to everyone else. The white table cloth and copious cutlery were impressive, as was the video presentation on Robert Burns and the Burns' Night quiz. We were then treated to a six course dinner, starting with a salmon bliny appetiser, then an excellent cock-a-leekie soup, a taste of haggis and accompaniments, a larger portion of beef and vegetables and the 'piece de resistance,' the cold collation for dessert which was superbly presented and tasted delicious. Top marks also for the hot pancakes. We thought we were finished, but we were then presented with a plate of more-ish shortbread and chocolate and a hot cup of coffee or tea. A selection of wines, beers and soft drinks were available from the bar and vegetarian food was available for one of our number, too. Congratulations to all concerned on providing such an unusual & special occasion. Special thanks to the tutors and older waiting staff on assisting with such a big party. The cost of the meal was amazingly low (fifteen pounds per person without drinks) considering the standards achieved. We will definitely be back in the future!

We dined here recently. It was a special meal created around the humble pumpkin, which many of us had grown on our allotments. I can honestly say the entire experience was memorable - the delightfully attentive trainee waiters, the speed of service and the quality of food.

There is nothing I can criticise. The welcome at the door, the comfortable seating, the ambiance, all these are top class, and as for the food, excellent and perfection are the words that come to mind. These youngsters do a marvelous job and I can only wish them luck in their chosen career. With the obvious skills they already possess they will go far.

I had eaten at an FE College training restaurant over 20 years ago and wasn't disappointed then, so I decided to book a table at Boston College Lime Restaurant to have a leisurely lunch with an old colleague. On arrival we had to sign in as visitors and were then directed to the restaurant itself. A student welcomed us very warmly and led us to our table which was covered with pristine white linen and laid with a banquet's worth of cutlery, some of which was removed as our menu choices were made. We chose a light white wine each to whet the palate - very tasty but it could have been chilled a little more, our only criticism. Minutes later, two taster plates of plaice goujons with freshly made tartar sauce were delivered to our table, a completely unexpected and welcome surprise, compliments of the chef. The starter of Caesar Salad with crispy pancetta was truly excellent, well seasoned and decoratively presented. The main course of pan-fried cod with seasonal vegetables was cooked to perfection, the fish (in a sizeable portion!) was spot on with flaky moist flesh complemented with a light touch of buttery sauce. Our waitress, guided by her tutor, did a great job with silver service. She was clearly nervous as she was only on her second day, but we were very pleased with the care she took to get things right! By the way, if you do dine here, please be prepared to be part of the tuition - it's great fun and pleasing to see the youngsters doing their best to enhance the diner's experience. The sweet trolley tempted me with a white chocolate crème brulee topped with strawberries, once again prepared with skill, not too sweet, not too bland, just perfect to round off the meal. Final bill for the two of us - wine, food and coffee - came to £23.50. A previous reviewer commented that The Lime was one of Boston's best kept secrets. It shouldn't be! Do try out this place - you'll be well fed and looked after for a fraction of the cost of equivalent fine dining on the high street. Furthermore you'll be helping the chefs, waiters and waitresses of tomorrow learn their craft. A treat both ways, so go to Boston College website and book a table!

We had 29 in our party and everyone was pleased with the food. We hope to be going again sometime. Service was still a bit slow but we were all enjoying a good chap. If you want good food at a very reasonable cost and do not want "fast food"based on our visit I can recommend it. Most of the staff were young and helped to give us an enjoyable evening

My Wife and I ate at The Lime Restaurant on Thursday 12th March. We were greeted in a professional manner by the Students and seated. The menu had a good selection of choice and our order was taken. The service was Silver Service which was a nice touch and not used on a regular basis now a days. The food was well cooked and the presentation was to a high standard. To say the food and service was delivered by Students is a credit to both the Students and the College. It was nice to eat quality food at a very reasonable price cooked and served by people who are learning their trade and wish to be in this industry. All the Students we came across were polite, friendly and obviously enjoying their work. We will be back soon. John White

Bearing in mind the food is prepared by young learners I can only give them a rating of 150% The service is slower than in man restaurants - but whose in a hurry when enjoying a meal ? The service was very correct in all aspects - food- utterly delicious and presentation - WOW. Boston College does a fantastic job teaching the young learners and in many instances have progressed to top restaurants nationwide. When in Boston do give it a go you will not be disappointed.

We went as a party with the local U3A. General opinion was that the food was good. The young waiters / waitress were friendly and attentive. The only problem is very slow service. We arrived at 6pm for 6-30pm and in fact started early with drinks and rolls, but we did not not complete until after 9pm.

Lime restaurant is the in-house fine dining restaurant open to the public within Boston College, it is the training setting for the colleges hospitality and catering arms - food is fabulous and extremely well priced, £7.50 for two course and £9.50 for three. Desserts are to die for and there is a small but well thought out menu changing daily. They are only open term times lunchtimes and for one evening a week and bookings are essential. Went there yesterday as part of a team lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Visiting the area for the day, we located The Thatched Cottage via Tripadvisor. Booked a table for late lunch. Fortunately a pleasant day as having our furry friend with us we had to sit outside. Our lunch was as good as hoped for; a generous portion of roast lamb, served on a bed of lovely mash, accompanied by red cabbage, yorkshire pud, roasties and apricot stuffing. The sides of creamy blue cheese leeks and trio of carrots, french beans and swede were colourful and tasty. Our meal was served promptly and the half pints of Doom Bar washed our lunch down nicely. Friendly service A thoroughly enjoyable lunch, a good find which we would recommend We may not have booked had it been a cold wet day, delighted it wasn't. Note to TTCR, perhaps look at a doggy owner corner in your bar for diners over the winter months?

Nice family atmosphere, good service and super friendly. We have tried a few things on the menu now and they are all good but particularly enjoyed the Indian taster platter (enough for two), the fish and chips, ham egg and chips, pie of the day and tonight we tried the carvery and what a treat! Looking forward to sampling the Indian Buffet when we get a free Friday.
