Brew was one of our favourite places to visit for brunch. We loved their Brewfast breakfast (Sourdough, avocado, bacon and poached eggs with a tomato chutney). At our latest visit we were surprised at how easy it was to get a table (normally it is very busy) but soon saw they had changed their menu. Luckily they had what looked like a Brewfast as a special so I order that. The server warned us the tomato chutney was different. I was a little disappointed as when it arrived it was sweet chilli sauce not a chutney. The bacon was very thin compared to the old type which seemed to be from a better source. The poached eggs were perfect. Not sure if we will return.

It's a busy place with attractive seating both inside and out. The coffee is fine, but not great. The muffin I had was really nice. It's not too expensive and staff are organised and efficient. Service is quick, but careful so you don't feel rushed. There are plenty of choices for lunch. I would have the scones covered up, though. The music outside was far too loud but to be fair I'm not entirely sure it was coming from here. I'd be happy to visit again.

Went in today as it usually looks really busy and nice. Sat outside for a while with none of the staff greeting us (we were the only people there, apart from a solo coffee customer). Eventually one of us went inside to order and they asked where we were sitting (ummm, maybe look up?!). Nice coffees, no complaints. But then they started cleaning the bins right in front of us! Not very appetising. As we made ready to go, the music ramped right up so we exited very swiftly. Just felt like they didn't want us there at all. Zero engagement or customer service. Really confused as it's always busy!

This is a smallish cafe near the BBC on the Whiteladies Road, with an additional table area outside. We've been here twice now, once for coffee which was fine and once for lunch. For this we had the whitebean soup which was very tasty, and generously supplemented by 4 slices of sourdough bread and a large slab of butter, all for under £5. Service was friendly and quick, and both the general decor and the loo were OK. Ambient music was just a little bit too loud though. One of Bristol's better cafes.

Brew stands up to its name in delivering a good cup of coffee, by no means the best in Bristol but enjoyable nonetheless. When it comes to the food I unfortunately find it cannot compete with the plethora of eateries along Whiteladies Road - the prices match those of its competitors, but the attention to detail is lacking when it comes to the execution of a high quality brunch.

Brunch was filling despite the modest portion, however with the relatively high price and standard taste brew isn't anything to shout home about. I have had more interesting and tasty food there (scrambled eggs with chorizo crumb) hence my second visit but the smashed avo with a side of garlic shrooms was rather bland and disappointing.
