Brent Knoll Inn in Sedgemoor

Love this place I would move to the village if I could afford. Always good food and a warm welcome. Food portions are huge and vegetarians well catered for

We have visited the Brent Knoll Inn many times over the years as we have a caravan nearby and always had a great experience. We visited as a family on a Saturday afternoon for a few drinks, the pub had a big group in for food. When we asked at 1730 about food the manager said food would be on at 1830 because of the big group not the usual 1800 which was fine. We went to the bar at 1830 and were told we couldn’t order until 1845 and then someone would come over to take the order. At 1910 the manager came, and we asked how long it would take to get food, as the children were hungry and time was getting on. The manager was very abrupt and argumentative when we said that we have been waiting and wouldn’t listen to what we had to say, and almost making it our problem that they had a large booking in. Her attitude was shocking and she stormed off. Zero customer skills for someone who is meant to be in charge. We decided not to eat at the pub. We then spoke to the manager again as we left about the poor experience we had. We spoke to her respectfully and her response was this is not fast food it is home cooked food and have you ever cooked 26 meals with one chef, like it was our fault and then stormed off again. As a customer I have never been spoken to in such a rude arrogant way, honestly shocking. Such a shame as this is a place we have come to often over the years when we are down the caravan, and know lots of other people who use the pub.

Lovely friendly staff food was amazing steak was cook perfectly and came out in good time even tho there was a big party of 26 we didn’t have to wait long would definitely recommend

After driving round looking for somewhere for Sunday dinner we just happened to drive past here so stopped in and asked for a table. From the minute we arrived nothing was too much trouble for all of the staff. A table was set for us and a waitress came straight over to take our drink order, we advised we were waiting on 1 person, she was very happy to come back and take their order on arrival. We all had a medium roast dinner and I can honestly say this was the nicest roast dinner I had eaten in a very long time. The amount of meat on each place was a shock to us all, it was definitely worth the money we paid and we will 100% be back on our next visit to the surrounding area. Just a side note the waiting staff were amazing and nothing was too much for them!

Five of us had a lovely traditional pub lunch here on Friday. The food was excellent and the staff we attentive and welcoming. We will definitely be back

Ordered scampi and chips arrived warm although it stated food cooked to order. Sent meal back and they took it off the bill, the nice waitress was very kind however, I don't think the owner was impressed!

Excellent Sunday lunch. Main courses are very good - lots of delicious tender meat and all the trimmings and veg you could want. They serve until 4pm which is very convenient. Good choice of puddings. I was assured the beer was also very well kept. Excellent value for money - we paid just over £40 for a two course meal and a couple of drinks each (two people). The outside looks a bit tired but please don't be put off as you get a very warm welcome inside.

Under New Management....New Landlord Landlady are so welcoming. Had a super meal. Menu has lots of choices. Homemade Beef Mushroom and Ale Pie was delicious....the Gravy served on the side was lovely...freshly made..everyone enjoyed their meals, not overpriced and great portions.

Major improvement under the new management, first class roast with exceptional customer service, highly recommended.

New landlord, same chef but both food and atmosphere has improved substantialy in my opinion, with a full pub for the first time in months. Carry on the good work

Sunday lunch ***** not to be confused with a soggy carvery, freshly cooked to order with fresh vegetables and nice crispy roast potatoes….

Went here today for Sunday lunch. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our seats where we looked at the menu and gave our order. The food arrived consisting of swede, carrot, parsnip, 2 LARGE roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding with stuffing and VERY watery gravy. The cauliflower cheese arrived on a separate dish. The meat was cut wafer tin and I was unable to tell the difference between the beef and lamb. The food was not very warm and was delivered on cold plates. As there were only 2 other tables booked in both bars, I can only assume that word has spread about the food.

Super Sunday Roast, Lamb, Beef, Turkey, choose 2, under £13 each, fresh vegetables with Cauliflower Cheese and lovely Gravy. It was delicious. Lovely pub, nice atmosphere.

Great Sunday lunch cooked to perfection with a couple of drinks, this place always delivers. Booking is always advisable, great venues are always busy after all.

It was a Sunday Roast at a very good price would go there again very pleased could not say anything bad about the food and service

We have just had a Sunday roast which was great. We visited before a few years ago and were very disappointed with the food which was undercooked and cold. Needless to say we did not go back. What an improvement now, apparently new management and it really shows. We will be returning.

Came in on spec with some old friends from Northampton to grab an evening meal. Food was exceptionally good, hosts accommodating and when it came to coffee & diluted drinks, the landlord would not take payment. The restaurant has been going through a transition period but I’m glad to report all things are back to normal, if not improved. Highly recommended local pub & restaurant, you won’t be disappointed.

Food was shocking and “landlord” was very rude. Waiting over an hour for food, when wasn’t busy at all. Told food was fresh but was definitely frozen when I finally received the food it was burnt. Was told that’s how the food was meant to be and the ‘chef’ offered if we wanted him to take the lid of our pie off… Majority of the food was inedible. Bar staff was very rude and no apology from anyone, such a shame. Will certainly not be returning.

Visited our local pub to try food since change of hands We had 2 very nice meals.I had rump steak with garlic, mushroom sauce and my husband Dirty chicken.The meat in both meals were very good with nice size portions.So pleased we now have some where to go locally for nice food

My family and I had a lovely time here at the Brent Knoll Inn. We all have a drink, i also get to have a drink of coke there, and the staff are nice and friendly. The pool table is great there, too. My niece and nephew had fun here at a table in the beer garden outside as well. And we would love to come back again someday.

OMG just had the best night out with family and friends...Great atmosphere, range of ages, fantastic DJ and entertainer....brilliant landlord and landlady! Looking forward to the next one!

A very warm welcome from Ben and Sophie when we arrived and the service was excellent. The food was first rate, they even went out of their way to accommodate our needs. We would definitely recommend the Brent Knowle Inn for their good, value for money menu extensive.

This was my first time eating Sunday lunch here with my partner and I have to say the food and service were absoutely superb. Good quality meat and produce and the most generous potion sizes, I couldn't finish mine and that was the only thing that I didn't like about it! Cracking drinks deletion too. I had pinot griot and it was lovely. Front of house were spot on, very attentive and you could tell they were smiling, despite having to wear masks! Wonderful lunch and amazing location too if you fancy a walk after. Highly recommend.

Recently I went with a group of 20+ friends for a two course evening meal. Everything was well organised, there was loads of food and it all came out hot. The staff were attentive dealt with our needs and dealt with any queries. Everyone gave positive feedback, enjoyed the evening and we will be going back again. Well done!

Massive portions! Especially the puddings! The meat is good quality. The vegetables are excellent and well cooked. The staff are great. Recently refurbished and even better. Lots of deals. Top price not such good value but avoiding paying top price seems quite easy

We stopped in for lunch. The menu was a good mix of traditional British grub with pasta and veggie as well.The staff were 5 star, friendly and not hanging around. There was a good mix of ages and locals were also in eating.The only reason I have only given this a 3 star review was the gravy with my excelkent faggots was VERY salty but not inedible, I mentioned this to the staff who were gracious and said they would tell the chef. My wife had an excellent carbonara. The beer and cider were both very good.We would definitely return, but if I am having a gravy I would ask for it in a gravy boat so I can try before I buy.

Arrived to have a quick spot of lunch on our way back into weston. Lovely little country pub just a tad off the main road.Beer and wine fine, but food not so good.It was just very ordinary, and they served up a horrible dry baguette to my husband, but the filling was ok, how can you get something so simple so wrong.

We stayed for one night only to attend a family function in the area. We received a warm welcome from Sophie on arrival who showed us to our room and explained access, shower controls etc. The en-suite was very uncomfortable with a shower, toilet and washbasin crammed into a miniscule area which was very uncomfortable and cramped. Would not have liked to have used these facilities more than once. Circuitous route to the bedroom past what appears to be open private accommodation. Breakfast was definitely average with fruit juice presented on the table in the carton from Aldi (!). After a warm drink being provided no further offer was made. Condiments in plastic sachets. Opted for the breakfast at the last minute before arrival, would not recommend this option. Nice surroundings in a village pub but needs managing. Complete confusion when it came to settle the bill.

Enjoyed a lovely family Sunday lunch at this newly refurbished country pub.Plenty of fresh vegetables, large helpings of two types of meat (which pleased my husband!) and the gravy was amazing so compliments to the chef!!Waiting staff were bubbly and easy to talk to and the dining area was not too crowded either which was nice. We have previously eaten here, and been very happy with the food and great service. Always a very friendly atmosphere, with fresh food served piping hot. However, we visited recently, since it has been placed under new management, and were very disappointed. The staff were not friendly, and the Sunday roast did not come up to our expectaions. Although the meat was satisfactory, the meal was served luke warm. The vegetabes (what little there were of them) were cold and tasteless, and the majority of desserts on the menu were not available. We will not be returning here, when there are so many other restaurants, serving a good Sunday roast, and at a lesser price.

You'd think that someone taking over a pub would be friendly and helpful, however the new landlady was too busy talking to her partner who was at Bookers Cash & Carry (big hint there as to quality etc) to care much that we had rolled up looking for a meal. She managed to indicate that she'd squeeze us in (5 minutes before the kitchen closed) but preferred to talk to her phone rather than me.

What can I say the food was fantastic and the staff are also fantastic. My brother has never eaten Sunday roast with us (being disabled he does not eat much) but he had a children's beef and had the lot.. also member of staff heard my mum say oh parsnips you love them to my brother and then she appeared with some more. We have booked again because everything was perfect. No complaints at all.. the Turkey the beef and pork fantastic

Visited the Brent Knoll in over several nights, while staying in East Brent. Every night the food was of a very good quality and all the staff were nice and friendly. I know it has only been recenetly taken over by a new team and I think they should make a great sucess of it.

We went to re visit the Knoll Inn having not been for some time knowing it was under new management. The bar was quiet and we asked for a table for two and were told we could pick any not reserved.. Our order was taken and the food arrived quite quickly.. I had opted for rump steak with garlic and mushroom sauce my partner gammon with double eggs both with chips..My steak was cooked as I had asked and being a rump you expect some fat and gristle but this had a lot.. thick and hard all down one side taking a large portion of the steak..The large thick chips had an after taste like they had been maybe partly cooked before they were not soft and fluffy inside but a little hard and not very crispy on the outside the peas that came with it were warm not hot .Very disappointing at £16.95. The tomato sauce and mustard were served in cafe style plastic sachets even the salt and pepper were in white cheap plastic containers. My partner had the gammon with double eggs chips and peas.. The eggs were hard.. so no dipping your chips which he also found to have an aftertaste hard inside and not very crispy, the peas warm not hot .Only five tables were eating so relatively quite . In all not good value and i would not recommend eating here.. However the staff were lovely and friendly.

OMG....Fantastic roast dinner. So much better than a carvery, no queueing! Your vegetables are served separately, lovely & hot. Chose 2 meats, never before have I seen so much meat , 1 would have been plenty, came with roast potatoes, roast parsnips, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding & the tastiest gravy ever. Would definitely return!!

Arrived at 5:55 for a 6 pm booking. After waiting more than five minutes to be served we heard the noise from the kitchen and all the staff were laughing and joking out the back and nobody was watching the bar so my wife make an asked please could someone come and serve us. We went for traditional food from the menu that we had had before under the previous owners and the standard was as good as it was before. On paying my wife was surprised the bill seemed high, on inspection we had been charged for two drinks that we didnt order. The waitress called someone over who I presume is the manager he then spent a few minutes juggling bills around on the computerised till and just walked away without even an apology. So to summarise the food was acceptable, but customer service needs a little more work. I believe these new owners have been in the pub for about four weeks so haven’t had time to iron out any teething problems

Visted today, as reviews looked good and said dog friendly, very disappointed as we got there just after 2 and told still serving food, but t would need to be quick, went and sat in beer garden started to look at menu, minute later the barmaid came rushing out to say need to order now, we followed her back in, she muttered somethng under her breath, rushed off to the kitchen and came back and said too later. We had travelled 10 miles, left at 2.15

We popped in for a drink and was food so we booked a table for the Thursday and we went with friends. the service was brilliant so was the food. It is a lovely relaxing atmosphere to eat or drink in. We went back the weekend with family and again the food and the service was fabulous. The chefs are amazing. The food is all home cooked and you can see why it gets busy.

You haven’t had steak and ale pie until you’ve had it at the Brent Knoll Inn! All fresh and home cooked and the mash is so creamy (I can feel the calories on the hips as I eat but it’s soooo worth it!)

We had such a good night with our friends at the Knoll Inn and we could actually hear each other talking even though it was busy. Very friendly and helpful staff. Generous food portions. We were staying at the Days Inn at sedgmoor with the dog and it’s sometimes different too find some where to eat where the dog is welcome. The staff at the hotel recommended the pub saying the dog was welcome. We arrived and was welcomed by a very nice lady who said the dog was welcome in the pub.

Excellent staff good selection of wines and food. Rooms clean and comfortable. Only downside is rooms accessible via their private accommodation. Food fresh and tasty and well presented

Went to Brent Knoll Inn for a meal and drinks with a few friends and had a great night, the food was excellent, with very large portions, good selection of drinks. The staff were very helpful and friendly. A great atmosphere and a lovely time was had by all.

Lovely staff great selection of beers and spirits recommend the full English breakfast, the en- suit bedroom room we stayed in was very comfortable.

We booked a table for 14 people for a Christmas lunch for blind and elderly people.

20+ of us went for a two course roast meal and sweet and really enjoyed the experience. Orders had been placed and the service was excellent. The food came out quickly, it was hot and everyone was very friendly. There was loads to eat, the vegetables were cooked just right, not too hard or soft. The sweets were enormous but very enjoyable. A very good experience.

Have dined here previously & always had very good meals but on this occasion two of our meals didn’t taste quite right. Two were lovely & we had no complaints at all but the chicken dishes weren’t very good. When they were served we noticed the plates were cold & the cheese had set hard. We started eating but the chicken really didn’t taste right. We spoke to the lady who had taken our order & she immediately said she would get the chef as there was no point her listening to our complaint & then relaying it to the chef. She said it wasn’t fair on her but she is front of house so surely that’s part of her job. The chef came out but wasn’t happy. He said he’d just opened a new box of chicken & there hadn’t been any other complaints. I suggested that maybe this box wasn’t up to standard but he dismissed this & said they always used the same supplier & never had any complaints. We realised we weren’t going to get anywhere so just left the rest of our chicken dishes. When it came to paying the bill we asked if we were going to be charged the full price for the chicken dishes (£13.95) & we were told ‘yes because you ate half of it’. We didn’t eat that much but just thought we won’t come again.... & we won’t! As we walked out there was a lot of muttering from the landlord. Quite sad really as the meals & service used to be so good.

We walked in a we stood there for a couple of minute no one welcomed us.I had to say oh we've booked a table.orders taken starters came out the prawns were like rubber as if they had been defrosted in a hurry the mushrooms in garlic well it was hunt the mushrooms. Then came the mains if think the chef might have drop the salt pot in all the dishes every dish tasted of salt and nothing else most of the dishes were left we didnt complain because it looked like the staff wouldn't be bothered anyway paid the bill and left .Food was over priced for what you got your money.

Myself and a few friends ate here last week, the meal itself was fantastic! I had the Cod which was huge, it fell apart in my mouth and tasted great. I also Loved the idea of the homemade chips was were very nice. My friend had the Lasagna which she also said was fantastic, more than enough in portion size. The only trouble was we didn’t have room for dessert!
