Bravas in Bristol, City of

Easily the best tapas in the area, Bravas always has some nice pieces on the menu. Some of the staples, such as the prawns, the aioli and the patatas bravas, are well worth trying. It’s a shame the croquettes are normally pork-based as it’s nice when the bacalhau versions make a rare appearance. My only real grumble tonight is how cold it was with all the front windows and the door open as Bristol weather hasn’t caught up with Barcelona’s yet, so although it emulates the atmosphere of a taverna some of the customers were wearing coats by 20:00 whilst dining in.

Have wanted to visit for a long time after MULTIPLE recommendations. Booked for Wednesday eve - (recommended as wasn’t quiet). Everything was great. Particularly loved the Ibérico Pork 👌

Delicious food, good service, nice atmosphere

Visited last night for a work-team night out and as usual was not disappointed. Staff are friendly and helpful, dishes were all outstanding. Don't normally care too much for pudding but the chocolate mousse is not to be missed!

Amazing Tapas presented on an ever-changing menu served by the kindest staff! Seriously, Angela and Alice were the BEST servers we had during our trip to Bristol. Every hospitality worker we encountered told us to visit Bravas as one of their personal favorites. No dish we had was anything less than perfection. Pay attention to the specials board as well as the on the day menu for the best options. Recommend getting there early and making a table reservation in advance so you have the most choice of dishes to enjoy. Our drinks and bottle of wine were also delectable. The ambience is funky with a hint of disco. To top it off, they're dog friendly and even greeted our little guy with some home made sausage upon arrival. We ordered the fried aubergine dish because it looked so delectable on another table! I ordered additional salt grilled wild red prawn because they were so tasty! We also loved the beef bombas from the specials menu! Will definitely be visiting on our next trip to Bristol!

I went here with my mum on a whim as I pass it a lot and it always looks busy. I understand why now - honestly some of the best food I’ve had in bristol and very friendly staff!

Not a good place to eat , the staff where terrible, food not so good and the special was just fried egg on chips, the egg was cooked with fat too hot , so crispy white

Absolute favourite restaurant !

I took my daughter and four friends there yesterday.The atmosphere is amazing so intimate and tasty absolutely delicious food. It is the second time we have been. Last time the leeks were to die for but they weren’t doing this this time cauliflower instead but bring back the leeks. We will definitely be back. I couldn’t recommend the restaurant more highly. We were enjoying ourselves so much we outstayed the allocated table time!

Really love place, we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, the food was absolutely delicious, especially the chorizo, the prawn and the heritage carrots. Service was excellent too, very friendly and helpful. Would love to come again.

We had lunch here yesterday to celebrate my brothers graduation. Everything was perfect and they were so accommodating to my sons gluten allergy, I wish there were more places like this in London!

We visited a couple of weeks ago for dinner and had the most amazing meal. Such great food, such a variety but all delicious, great service and really nice vibe inside. Thank you we will definitely come again.

Great food, really enjoyed every dish. Busy little place with a buzzing atmosphere. Service was ok. My issue is the 2hr slot. Nowhere near enough time to enjoy a proper tapas experience, if like us, you want to explore most of the menu, with time between dishes. We were asked to leave our table 3 times, but they hadn’t even given us the bill. We appreciated we knew we had a time slot so we asked for the bill paid and left as asked. We took the rest of our evening elsewhere but would have happily stayed to eat and drink more, shame.

Most amazing Spanish dishes I have had in all of the UK. Classic, executed to perfection. 9,5 out of 10. And I'm a freelance chef. Have everything on the menu, but don't skip the croquetas, Iberico pork 🥩, fried salted cod w/ aioli & pickled sardines or the cheesecake!

Nice food at a very reasonable price. Sadly not a good atmosphere to relax and enjoy a conversation due to loudness of music. Would return but only to outdoor seating

In a City blessed with a wonderful range of high quality, small independent restuarants, Bravas stands out as one of the best. Everything is excellent, from front of house to the drinks list and, of course, the food. It's not cheap but it is excellent value, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Authentic Spanish tapas, lovely atmosphere, tasty food. Lots of vegetables/ vegan options.

Really excellent food, service and atmosphere

Unfortunately our experience was spoilt by a group of loud foul mouthed individuals sat next to us and would not of maid a difference if we where moved as it is a very small establishment.

Went here for a birthday celebration and as always we really enjoyed it. One of my favourite places in this part of Bristol. Thanks

A great disappointment. Finally managed to get a reservation and was really looking forward to eating here. The noise is on another level....music is far too loud and the closeness of the tables makes you feel like you are in a cramped night club not a small tapas bar. Food is nice but why bring a huge portion of patatas bravas after everything else has been finished. I couldn't hear anything because of the noise. Won't be coming back

Food was good, but the service was disappointing - our patatas bravas only arrived after everything else was finished. Weird. It's not big and is rather charming - but excruciatingly loud - if you sit in that bit at the back then you've no chance of hearing yourself think. We couldn't wait to leave. Won't go back.

Total disappointment. This was British tapas not Spanish tapas. Too small for a place, super crowded. You'd leave more hungry than when you enter. Paid 40 pounds for one potato fried , bread accomopanied with butter mixed with garlic. And 1/3 of cod with basil. 🫠🫠 9pound for a glass of rose of 125ml. bravas los bravas.

Inside tables was all taken and so crowded, we stayed out side but the atmosphere wasn’t that bad. I had high expectations for the food, but unfortunately it was tasteless nothing creative everything was so basic, even the wine for 9 pound the glace I was expecting it to be good but it was only a strong désappointement. Also the service wasn’t that good as we were served the food without even the cutlery !!! I had to go inside to ask for it !! Just a désappointement i don’t recommend

So lovely to be here again. Last time I came it was in the summer and we sat outside which was wonderful, watching people go by, in the SHADE, which absolutely made all the difference. We had the most delicious sparkly wine and tons of deep fried deliciousness and my goodness, what a super treat. I returned last night, on a rainy Thursday in January, and it was warm and cosy inside, the tables are copper! The food is just as yummy, no too madly expensive, lots of veggie options, but also gambas! Sweet and friendly waiting staff without being in your face, lovely decor, just near Clifton Down train. Will most definitely be returning.

My 2nd time dining here with my wife. Amazing food and great atmosphere/pumping music. One of the best restaurants in Bristol!

Wanted to visit for years and took the opportunity on a recent Monday afternoon - it did not disappoint. We went for one of the specials - a creamed brussel sprout and jamon dish (somehow managed to make brussel sprouts tasty) and then a butternut squash and walnut salad, croquettes, sardines with tapenade and the beef with chimichurri, all of which were delicious. The fried aubergine with molasses were the star of the show though, and that's coming from somebody who doesn't particularly like aubergine. The service was really friendly and the prices are reasonable for the quality. Highly recommend and glad it was worth the wait.

Awesome, overall enjoyed the atmosphere and food and drink was on point. The best mussels I've ever had in the UK. Sadly the patatas bravas were a little stake tasting but the the rest of the food was unreal.

It’s been a while since lunch nearly wore out my taste buds! Bravas came highly recommended by our daughters and our experience today was faultless. The service staff were as good as it gets and the food was simply fantastic! Already looking forward to our next visit.

Didn't have great experience this time! We were waiting for quite a lot to be sit on a table and also the service was keep asking us to take our cutleries and it was just 11 o'clock an hour before closing

We had a fantastic evening here. The tapas was incredible, we had 8 dishes between the 2 of us. Each dish is extremely well thought out and very well cooked, we couldnt pick a favourite. It really was a genuine Spanish tapas experience. The service was excellent and the whole atmosphere was just perfect. We will most definitely be back.

Exceptional tapas restaurant.! This place is cosy and has a great buzz . The food is freshly made and tastes amazing. Very high quality tapas and we highly recommend their version of the malbec red wine . Price of the food was very reasonable for the quality we got too. I can wait to go back again

We ate here to celebrate an anniversary and we were very impressed! The waiters were lovely and they gave great drinks and food recommendations. We appreciate Bravas for going out of their way to make the night an event for us by bringing out a complimentary desert and wishing us congratulations. Service was quick and the food was incredible. We will definitely be coming back.

Bravas is insanely popular, and rightly so. Every dish is delicious, and served swiftly and the staff are really friendly. They really cram the people and the tables in and it can get noisy, but that all adds to the atmosphere. If you want a quiet dinner, go somewhere else. My only slight gripe is that a bottle of red wine starts at £28. It would be useful to see an 'entry level' alternative. Two of us spent about £50 on 6 dishes and 2 glasses of house red. You must try the aubergine with molasses 🍆

I wish I could give more than 5 stars - this place is incredible. We went to Bulrush a few months back and were really underwhelmed. The food here is lovingly created, and above all, made with fresh ingredients. The fact they print a new menu each day is evidence of their focus on fresh produce. My favourite items were the Cornish mussels which were gorgeously cooked and in a fantastic white wine sauce; and the pork with charred rosemary. It melted in your mouth and felt like a bite sized roast dinner! Jesus (the head chef) and his team are extremely talented in the kitchen and are sure to put something together which tantalises your tastebuds. I know this review sounds a bit OTT, but it was genuinely an amazing experience. Thank you to the chefs and the waiting staff (Louis in particular). Will definitely be back again!

Have walked past this place so many times over the years and always liked the look of it, but as a very infrequent visiter of restaurants we tend to always go to places we know we can trust. However, took a gamble on Bravas today and so happy we did. Will definitely go back and recommend to others. Great choice on the menu, exciting tastes, good variety, friendly service, and psychologically it felt nice to be given lots of warm, fresh bread and olive oil without having to pay for it (I know it sounds wierd, but little touches like that make you feel like you are treated as a human guest rather than a pay cheque). Oh, and to top it all off, I was given the info on the secret ingredients to one of the dishes we loved, so I can try to make it at home. Honestly, it was a real treat - an experience, and I will tell everyone I know to go there. Thank you!

Been coming to Bravas since it opened nearly 10 years ago. Absolutely love it, never had a bad visit. Aubergine and molasses and potatas Bravas are absolute must, but everything is excellent.

Fabulous. Hadn’t visited in a while and was really pleased to see the same high quality of food, friendly service and fun atmosphere that made us return. All dishes were reasonably priced, expertly made from scratch, and tasted wonderful. The whole mackerel was outstanding; well done to the chef! The wine selection was excellent, sherry selection of high quality and the salted caramel truffles at the end, just decadent! Thank you Bravas!

Food was fabulous but the service slow and we had to ask on several occasions for drinks. That aside we loved the food, the atmosphere was relaxed and cosmopolitan. Lovely place and will deffo go back.

An awesome place, with seating outside and inside. Food is small tapas style, and everything was high quality and well made. Plates come as they are made. Lots of classics, with some new dishes too. Plenty of veg / plant / gluten free options. Service is awesome. We just rocked up and they squeezed us in. Thoroughly recommend.

Three human beings and one dog thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The food was excellent (special mention for the amazing aubergines in molasses and the beef meatballs in a velvety almond sauce) and the service was attentive without being obtrusive. The staff were also very accommodating of our canine companion, which was much appreciated. Lovely atmosphere, heartily recommended.

Just unreal. The food is simply sublime. You really have to experience it to believe it. Also - I know it's silly but free sparkling water on tap is such a win.
