This was a bit of a unusual Sunday roast/fish lunch mash up! I like the fish option but still got all the Sunday roast trimmings!!! An absolute smasher of a Sunday lunch. Btw, THE best roast potatoes in Bristol at the moment!!!

¡Gracias!

Gran ambiente y personal amable y profesional.

We visited this small restaurant a few months ago for the Saturday tasting menu, and it was important for me to write a (belated) review. There were three of us, including one local who had found this Gem. The owner/manager explained the concept of the restaurant (fresh/organic/local products), things we particularly appreciate. Wine, nibbles.. perfect start full of structure and subtil flavours. Due to a small change of plan in the kitchen, we had to wait a little for the starters, which was not an issue as, as adults, we know it is not always easy to manage a restaurant. However, I was plaisantly surprised when the manager came to apology about the wait, and generously offered us some complementary wine. This was was not needed as we are used to wait more in London and the rude waiters never apology for that...We felt truly fascinated by the positivity/smile/energy of the whole team. It was reviving to see genuine and plaisant people doing such a good job. The food was excellent, nothing to say about the organisation of the plates, the originality, the flavours.. I will go back and would highly recommend to anyone in the region. This place is extremely nice and proves there is still hope to find really nice restaurant for a good price.

One of the best roasts in Bristol, it always baffles me that the place isnt always rammed but I also prefer it that way. I have only ever visited for roasts and Ive gotta say, its always Spot on. Everything is just so damn tasty and I always leave happily full. I had the beef today and the cod a couple of weeks ago. Just delicious. We also had the soufflé, Creameux and Eaton mess for dessert (they kindly brought us some extra too)

Spent several minutes thinking of that title - “Graceland “ or “ Pilgrimage of Grace “ were other possibilities . Dinner here on Friday for 4 old mates , all of whom like their food and wine . Others had been before but my first visit . It was very very good . I had a tomato and goat curd salad , the tomato broth with this , served chilled was just amazing , pure essence of tomato. Then hake simple cooked , fresh and delicious and finally chocolate mousse and cake dessert - mote chocolate flavoured than you can imagine ! Washed down by a New Zealand sauvignon and a cold Beaujolais . And finally coffee and a cognac which even attracted favourable comment from the Brandy Man . £65 each so not cheap but worth every penny . We all had different things and they were all as good . Great service from nice people . Just a really good night out .

To the restaurateurs we must have seemed one of two things: either a) welcome guests to make them a few pounds on an extremely quiet day, as we were one of only two occupied tables that lunch time, or b) HIGHLY peculiar individuals who could possibly ignore the World Cup and go out for lunch, thereby distracting the staff from enjoying the game themselves ha ha!! We have no interest in football. I am sure this restaurant would have a really lovely atmosphere about it with more diners on seats, but we didn't really mind having essentially the whole place to ourselves! It is a pleasant street and neighbourhood. The wine selection by the glass was good, the service was keen and enthusiastic but the Sunday menu, in our opinion, didn't really shine given its limited 'Sunday roast' format. I just don't get Sunday roast 'style' on a hot summer's day. A big pile of roast potatoes, then a pile of cauliflower cheese, then a pile of buttered kale served as share dishes with the main courses is just too much on a hot day - however expertly prepared they might be.

We had a brilliant time here - 6 of us on a rare night out without our young kids, so all the more important we pick somewhere good! Chosen after reading some reviews online but not knowing much more. The food was delicious, the wine was great and the atmosphere was relaxed. Brilliant, gourmet food in an unpretentious environment is everything I’m looking for in a restaurant. My mum has a garlic and onion intolerance, which can make restaurant eating tricky, but the owner was so accommodating and knowledgable that it made it so easy. Can’t speak highly enough of this place and would really recommend a visit.

It is all about the food! Such a pleasant surprise when often it is all about the staff or the fit out of the restaurant. A great start with friendly welcome followed by staff willing to please and obviously very proud of the food they serve. A five course meal for £45pp, amazing value. Fresh produce mainly locally sourced, well cooked, nicely presented with clean taste. If I lived in Bristol I would be a regular client. Go and enjoy, it is a gem.

My partner and I ate here on a spontaneous Thursday evening out. The menu is interesting with three options per course, including veggie and fish based, for £22/2 or £28/3. The food was delicious and lots locally sourced and seasonal. I also had the paired wines and we started with the restaurants own ‘ant infused’ gin which was interesting and very reasonably priced.

A small group of friends had a three course lunch ( Fri/Sat only) and the food, recommended wines and service were absolutely spot on. This is a typical modern Bristol independent restaurant, stripped wood, interesting art on the walls and very relaxed. The set menu had 3 starters, 3 mains, 3 desserts + cheese and we tried a good selection and everything was cooked to perfection with interesting tastes eg Miso infused mullet, lamb rump/sweetbreads with anchovy jus, chocolate sorbet. Even the warm sourdough bread with salted organic butter was heaven. All the recommended wines were excellent and a little different including an English Lyme Bay sparkling wine and a great Bonarda from Argentina

My wife had come across various recommendations for this restaurant for our weekend in Bristol and I am glad that she did. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and enjoyed the excellent tasting menu with the matching flight of wines. The lamb was probably the highlight dish of the evening with the Californian pinot noir. At one point the service slowed a little but they soon caught up with themselves. We had a memorable evening and would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to others.

I don’t normally leave reviews but feel compelled to in this instance. We had been recommended to visit by friends so thought we’d treat ourselves. I’ve left very disappointed. The menu was uninspiring and pretentious, but everything sounded fine once I’d deciphered it so I chose the leeks for my starter and lamb for my main course. The bread we were given was very good in fairness, but my tiny starter wasn’t great, the leeks were harsh perhaps due to over cooked garlic. Then my main course arrived and when asked if we needed anything else I only just stopped myself from saying the rest of my meal. It was minute, and had a £5 supplement on top of the steep £22 price (plus 12.5% service charge) for the 2 courses. The meat was fine, but not great. The bill came to £103 for 3 of us, 2 courses each plus 3 drinks in total. I left feeling hungrier than when I arrived. I wasn’t asked if I enjoyed my food, but the other half didn’t want me to say anything at the time as we were treating her mum. I will not be going back and certainly wouldn’t encourage anyone else to visit. The high price on top of the very stingy portions has only left a bitter taste in my mouth. Avoid.

Great choice for Sunday Lunch. We booked a table here based on reviews and a few recommendations from friends, and were absolutely thrilled with our choice. The restaurant itself is relaxed and homely, the FOH staff were all charming and made us feel at home. We all had different starters, with each of us saying our choice was the best, followed by beef for all of us. The meat itself was good quality and tasty, though could have been a little more pink for my taste (by no means overdone or chewy though - Hurrah!) with the real star of the show being the fabulous roasties. Crispy and well seasoned on the outside, fluffy inside, and absolutely massive! A true triumph in the world of spuds. Special mention for the dessert chef, as none of us could resist the blood orange soufflé so they had an order of 4 right at the end of service. The soufflés arrived together, all perfectly risen and all warm. Not an easy task to get right! They were absolutely delicious, light and airy with a wonderfully delicate flavour, paired with Earl Grey ice cream. Went down a treat.

We paid a 2nd visit here on Saturday lunchtime. When we came 2 weeks ago the food was so beautifully tasty that we had to return, the chicken was outstanding. This visit the food was still lovely but my lamb was a bit fatty and that was disapointing as it was quite small, that said the waiter should have asked when taking the plate why it wasnt eaten as it did look very fatty. The dessert was wonderful and we will return soon, probably wont have the lamb...

We had high expectations when we booked this well respected Bristol restaurant and we were not disappointed. The £45 taster menu was absolutely outstanding (and all that was available so check when booking) and a masterpiece of a menu. Asparagus veloute was followed by superb scallops, cod and magnificent lamb. The rhubarb dessert was delightful.Textures were delicious and flavours subtle and sophisticated. This is fine dining of high quality but in a very relaxed and laid back environment. No table clothes, robust cutlery etc. Service was very good-lots of time between courses which we appreciated. Some people might find 3+ hours for a 6 course meal excessive but we loved it. Chandos Road is such a good food hub and this restaurant offers a Michelin Star experience without all the fuss in a very pleasant setting. Highly recommended

The food was perfect for the evening and we all enjoyed it, though my husband felt that ihis gnocci portion was a little miserly (and they did look rather lonely on the plate). There is a choice of 3 starters meat, fish, veggie the same for mains and three puds. We chose from all three and didn't have a bad plate. The home baked bread was excellent. The menu changes daily.

On a quiet mid week night I was spared the tasting menu (a curse in my opinion!) and had the short but well chosen a la carte. All my dishes were well cooked tasty and made from carefully seasonal ingredients. Not providing any starch with the main, or even an option to add it, is brave move and a hungrier man might have cause for complaint. There is a cluster of fine dining in this street and you need some effort to find it.

Visited on a Saturday where only a tasting menu was available. We also decided to have the wine flight to match the food. We had booked the table for 7.30 but didn’t get any food until at least 8pm and it was a very small bowl of veloute. We were also given our first glass of wine when we arrived with the waiter saying he would give us a top up when the food came. This was forgotten. Overall the food was nice but too small, the delays between each course was about 30 mins and given that there were only 5 courses on the menu this shouldn’t have been the case. We had also drank our wine by the time each course finally arrived which really defeated the object of having the wine flight.

Visited on a Saturday with family and friends, so only the tasting menu was available. Of the five courses (£45) the first, smoked eel, would have been served as an ameuse geule anywhere else and the last, a small square of fruit pastille, would have been a petit four. The other three course were tiny quantities of average cooking (in fairness the chocolate course was better and the tiny fish course worse than average). The offer of a cheese course for £10 extra was cheeky. A strange experience that would have been almost embarrassing had not the slightly aggressive waitress balanced out the ‘what on Earth are they playing at’ feel of the place.

Went with my wife and a visiting friend on a Friday in November. The place was full and there was a lovely buzz about the place. A delicious glass of sparkling English wine was a great start and the friendly front of house team guided us through the menu. We all went for the tasting menu but asked to swap the venison for a pork dish on the a la carte menu as we were eating venison the next day. No problem for the chef and it was a very tasty piece of cooking. The courses were well spaced and when it came time for pudding we had food envy and asked to swap the dessert on the tasting menu for the soufflé. This was a complete triumph and served to us by the charming pastry chef.

The best food we have had in Bristol for a very long time. Service was a tad slow but acceptable. The real ‘downer’ though was when we investigated the bill. Strangely, 2 extra bottles of wine and 2 extra pints of beer appeared on it. Coupled with the fact they also ‘forgot’ that we had paid a £60 deposit even though we reminded them on arrival. This ended up as an extra £120 they were asking for!! They blamed the till, then double inputting of information. At best I can accept it was s genuine mistake, at worst it was a criminal act.

We invited to have a welcome drink in the meanwhile we were deciding the menu, the Negroni was really good and perfectly balanced but when we informed about the lacking of the Aperol in the spritz, we expected a corrective action (like a new one or a free of charge in the bill) without clearly asking that... it didn't happen. The food left my with no words, tasty, accurate preparation made with the heart even if we are not talking about the "selected" food such the sea bass, gilthead bream or Chateaubriand, it was a magnificent experience to repeat in the future... recommended!!

We're are really in a quandary about what to write for this review. After reading earlier reviews this seemed a great place to book for my birthday lunch on a Sunday in mid August. It was actually 3rd choice of restaurant after finding that at 3 days notice our previous choices were fully booked and could not offer a table until after 3pm.We had not eaten here before, so this was to be an exciting new experience for quality eating in Bristol. It's a bit off our regular routes. We were surprised to find, when we arrived, that there were no other customers - not a good sign, we thought. When empty, the interior is a bit bleak and unwelcoming - more like a corner cafe than a quality restaurant. The terrace is good, but furnished with rather old tables and chairs. A few other customers did eventually turn up but at no time was the place busy.OK maybe we expect too much, but for the prices charged here we we somehow expected more comfort. Maybe the atmosphere is better on a dark evening when there are plenty of customers.BUT - the food was excellent - both starters (lemon sole £9.50 and artichoke £8) were tasty and well presented. Not big portions for the price, but delicious. For the main course we both had Roast Beef with vegetables - again excellent quality at £14.50 each. This course was good sized portions. For dessert we had ice cream (£2.50 for one scoop) and cheese (£3.50 for one piece of local blue cheese and biscuits and chutney).A bottle of Rose wine cost £18 and the total bill with a drink before a coffee for one after came to £90 including 10% gratuity added at the till.Staff were friendly and helpful and service was prompt - good but we never felt rushed or neglected.

Rightly (or more probably wrongly) we thought there were not many restaurants in Bristol open on Sunday. We therefore jumped at the recommendation we got from the excellent TARE. The restaurant's and our mistake was to imagine that their normal offerings married well with the dire English Sunday lunch format. Our Gressingham Duck and Pollack were fine enough but the lashings of vegetables, roast potatoes and ...Yorkshire pudding (!!!???) were not only a bad mismatch but (in my opinion, if not my wife's) dire to boot. Service was very pleasant and efficient and I think the place is probably worth another go, but not on Sunday.

We visited on a cool breezy evening and had pre-dinner drinks outside. They took our orders and said we could go to the table inside when we wanted to. Opportunity to eat outside with patio heater. Decor is cafe-style. The food was served promptly and the cooked food was described in detail by the waiters. The meal was beautifully presented and one of the best tasting we have had for a while. It is on the expensive side but was well worth it compared to other places nearby serving food that is not value for money. Parking nearby was easy (after 6 pm Friday evening)

The Good: friendly staff, lovely location with indoor seating and a nice terrace with tables outside; beautifully presented food; an absolutely delicious starter with one of the best ratatouille I have ever tasted, tasty mains BUT see below. The Bad: we were hungry and thought we had made a mistake when two different main fish dishes came with no carbohydrates. One of us had Sole with gnocci which consisted of fish with some aprox 5-6 mussels and a pretty green sauce with no gnocci to see or potatoes or rice etc, the other fish dish was the most expensive on the menu at £28 (Turbot) and came with some creamy sauce [which was too salty for me but I am very low salt so perfect for most people I should think] and a small portion of peas and another vegetable hard to tell if pak choi or fennel and no potatoes etc. We thought we had misunderstood the menu and asked to order some carb sides only to be told they don't do sides. We could have more bread but as I am gluten free and they had no gluten free bread at all I had no carbs. We had to go back home and make ourselves some food after the meal to feel satisfied. Not Ugly: everything is presented beautifully and it all looks great. Conclusion: from reading other reviews it depends on what you order here. I do not think they cater well for gluten free people and with our dishes not for hungry people. Go here for the ambience and to sample some interesting tastes but not for a balanced meal. I am not sure that feedback is taken very well at this restaurant from other reviews but in case it is I would suggest at this level that it is not difficult to have a gluten free bread available in the freezer or fresh at all times and more veg and carbs. Also if the taster menu can not be ordered by one person then adapt the menu to £90 for two or minimum order two people as it was disappointing to make a decision to give it a go and then get told it was only if we both ordered it.

Had the taster dinner here a while ago, the food was amazing. The smoked eel and potato veloute was beautiful. The front of house staff were really busy but so professional that we felt special none the less. Would recommend

We had another smashing roast here at No mans grace, in fact I forgot to take a picture of the beef roast and all the trimmings as we started stuffing our faces as soon as it arrived at the table. So here is a photo of my good friend Lilly having the desert!!!

We came a group of friends and ate on the terrace out side. Great vibes and fantastic wine! The potato and smoked eel veloute was insane, and the hand dived scallops with ratatouille was so fresh (must have only been made a few hours before). Great service on top! 5 stars

We've been meaning to try out No Mans Grace for a while so were quite excited when we arrived. A small Bellini at the bar whilst waiting for our table with a cheese profiterole and some smoked Almonds started our evening off nicely & gave us a chance to peruse the menu. For starter I had the Scallops which were fresh, light & covered in an apple granita. All t

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch with friends at No Mans Grace. The restaurant is bright and airy and the welcome is warm and friendly. The service was just right, knowledgeable about the interesting and varied wines and helpful with any questions about the menu. The food was really special, beautifully presented, seasonal and imaginative. We will certainly return.

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with such a warm welcome. Gentle jazz playing in the background and the buzz of the other diners provided such a fantastic atmosphere. The food, well, where do I start? First of all, an aperitif was a must, House Negroni, wow, please try this, laden with alcohol, but such a perfected balance. Thank you Mr Barman, but also for sharing your recipe!I usually just have a main course, but was so excited by the menu, I plumped for a starter, well, we all did. Caramelised Cauliflower with grapes and raisins, delicious, but the hand dived Regis scallops, just unbelievably fresh, succulent and cooked to perfection. And then, as a treat, chilled Asapargus Veloute, smoked trout and wild garlic flowers, so light, again so tasty, and cannot believe the way the food was presented.Main course, Lemon Sole, served with Gewürztraminer Sauce, oh my, again the fish was so fresh and beautifully presented. The Roast Sirloin, Braised Short Rib, Leek, Calcot was so, so tender, my best friend's husband is a butcher, sorry Kevin, but this steak was a match to your finest beef!I was so full, but the Boyz plumped for a sweet, again, stunning, chocolate torte, banana ice cream and peanut butter crunch. The staff were all so attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The reason for going to No Man's Grace was to celebrate my 50th Birthday, I have to say, they made my birthday and made me feel so special. Definitely will return here, and very soon!!

We were a group of 3 and all our meals were delicious. The lemon sole fish was exceptional along with the vegetarian, specially cooked for us, roast potatoes. We also had gnocchi and it was also great. Highly recommend this restaurant, we were down from London and this is one of the best meals we have had in awhile.

ate hear last month with friends - chose the tasting menu - the scallops were cooked to perfection, the flavours of all the courses were second to none. Only critic was the rabbit cooked 3 ways - the sous vide rabbit was not for me very strong flavour and texture was not for me. But would highly recommend here and look forward to going back again

We had the tasting menu and we were really satisfied. The wine pairings with the dishes were almost excellent. In these kind of places, my main objective is to get surprised with the food and taste. They achieved this with several dishes but especially with the starters and desert! The main course was also good but with chicken you options are limited but it was nicely done. Environment was very cosy though they might consider revisiting their music system and playlists. Service was friendly and informative. Overall, it was a satisfactory fine dining experience which we would surely repeat!

This place is very good, lovely atmosphere, good wine, excellent food and charming staff. You pay London prices but the food is up to scratch so you can't really complain. Meets expectations as far as cool/boutique decent dining is concerned. Would certainly go back as soon as possible as it is up there as far as Bristol's best is concerned.

A great and very interesting tasting menu coupled with a wine flight meant a really lovely meal out. Helpful staff to guide your courses and some great flavours to savour. It was quiet when we arrived but filled up towards 9pm onwards to give a nice restaurant buzz. Would definitely recommend, food was fantastic!

Found this by chance in a quiet backstreet on the outskirts of Bristol. Very good a la carte but also an 8 course taster menu for £45 ( plus £35 for paired wines if you want). In the end we went for the a la carte - the menu was explained in detail as were the dishes when he arrived. Beariful fresh looking and tasting dishes. Beautiful presentation. I had coid loin with salsify and morelles all cooked to perfection. Quail as a starter, again cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. Good wine list by glass and bottle and attentive service. Nice to have food served on hot plates. Only criticism ( feel I'm nBeing a bit churlish) was I had port with cheese which was served in a tiny ( but lovely) Victorian glass but was only a 25ml spirit measure - never come across that before!

We stumbled on this restaurant by chance as we happen to be in the area and decided on the spur of the moment to find somewhere for Sunday lunch. What a pleasant surprise. The staff were very accommodating trying to find us a table even though most tables were reserved. Our mains of the roast beef and Cornish brill were expertly cooked, good portion sizes and a good range of vegetables including the most delicious roast potatoes. I seldom eat red meat and the beef was tender and very tasty (a combination that can't always be guaranteed). The prune and armagnac soufflé pudding was delicious. The staff were helpful with the wine recommendations. We paid £84 (2 courses) for 3 people and thought this was good value for the quality of food and service. The restaurant's corner position makes for a light and airy interior. We would definitely recommend this restaurant for their Sunday lunch menu and plan to return to try out it out in the evening.

Service very slow although only 11 people in total in restaurant throughout the night. Restaurant very cold. Starter very nice. Pork belly main poor although cod very nice. Shortbread in pudding clearly very undercooked. Report back from chef via waiter, who himself could see the raw dough, was that it was meant to be like that. Had the chef come himself and tried to explain that, would have been more impressed. No plans to return or recommend.

Reasonably unpretentious location and offering, from a good kitchen. Staff were not overly helpful with dietary requirements and allergies on their tasting menu (ie no swapping or skipping of courses between menus) and otherwise a little rushed, but polite and eager to help. The wine list is good, but we were given a different vintage to that on the list, with no mention made of this omission. Food wise was very good, with small, elegant, tasting portions. Not for the hungry, or those looking for filling or hearty, but certainly tasty, fresh, and expertly prepared.

If we are going out to eat I tend to trawl the Internet to find out about the new and exciting places. No man Grace had consistently good reviews so we decided to try it. It was a slightly different eating experience for us but we were definitely not disappointed. The menu was initiative somewhat like gourmet Tapas and absolutely delicious. We will definitely be returning.

We had a fantastic lunch here and would definitely recommend it! The waiters were attentive and the menus provided enough variation without being overwhelming. The starters all went down well, the crab salad was fresh and tasted of the sea and the beetroot with curd was tangy and light. The roast beef went down very well as did the Brill with samphire; the roast potatoes were crispy and crunchy on the outside with fluffy insides and the red cabbage fruity and more-ish. We just about managed dessert which were so tasty we were scraping the bowls - the soufflé light yet creamy and the chocolate rich and decadent. We thoroughly the lunch, the only negative was that the room was rather chilly (it was freezing outside!) but warmed up as we tucked into the food.

A perfect combination of serious gourmet food and a more casual dining experience. The food is inventive and consistent, well thought out and without taking any shortcuts. Three course meal felt just the right size, with both modern and classic elements and an immaculate/food porn like presentation. It's refreshing to visit a restaurant that serves top class food and still manages to remain quite humble and unassuming.

This place looks quite unassuming and we were a bit surprised to be able to book for a Saturday night only a couple of days ahead but we had an excellent meal.Deciding to leave the very tempting tasting menu for a day when we could fast in advance, we went à la carte. The menu was sensible in offering just 4 starters and 4 mains but we were still spoilt for choice. The options were all interesting and unusual without being too fussy or contrived. When they came, they did not disappoint. Portions were right, enough but not too much so we made it to dessert. The dessert menu blew the "less is more" approach but that's fine for desserts which don't always need to be prepared immediately before eating. Reading up afterwards it turns out they started as a dessert-focused bar - but they've mastered all the courses. Oh, and the wine list is good too, interesting and you can choose your price point without worrying about quality.Service was well-timed, friendly and informal without being over-familiar and the introduction of the individual dishes, useful because of the inventiveness, was nevertheless succinct and unintrusive. It's very rare to find a place that gets it right on all fronts. Not cheap (not expensive either) but worth every penny. Michelin star-quality food without the unnecessary film-flam. A real find.

Visited No Man's Grace with my son and had the three course set lunch. The setting and ambience were lovely and the cooking was very accomplished. I had pigeon, which was just right and the malted milk sorbet component of my desert was triumphant. Service was also lovely and friendly. Really good all round and good value.

Tried to get a drink in this bar at 10.40 last night (Friday) and was told sorry we have called last orders and can't serve you, there were 7 of us. I was always under the impression that last orders was one last drink before time at 11, but obviously not in this pub, so we ended up in Somerset House.

I had the Bristolian breakfast and it did not disappoint. Everything was cooked perfectly and I loved the crispy potatoes. This is a really popular place but it's quite small inside. They have managed to squeeze in as much seating as possible but it is still quite likely that, at the weekend at least, you'll find yourself queuing out the door. When you get inside, you'll find the service friendly and efficient and a well-crafted menu. Different dietary requirements, including vegans, are catered for.

The food was incredible, authentic Thai and absolutely delicious. The soup starters were particularly good and the whole menu impressive, we shared a number of different Currys which were all fragrant and excellent. Highly recommend this place.
