The grounds are stunning. The manor house impressive. The Manor restaurant was great service but VERY expensive. The mains are £28 - £32 each and does not include the potatos or veg. The mains are very tiny portions. The potatos £6 for a side dish. The price is silly compared to what you actually get.

Lovely setting. Bills itself as a ‘fine London restaurant’. However, I’m yet to go to a fine London restaurant that has young kids serving. This place is almost exclusively staffed with kids that clearly don’t know how to do fine dining service. Starter plates sitting on our table for 25 minutes after finishing them, having to pour our own bottle of wine, being ignored by inexperienced staff… the list goes on. So much scope for success here, but totally let down by its choice in staff. Shame.

Went there for Sunday lunch as a special 60th birthday treat. Surroundings lovely and we were expecting an elite experience. However the service was shockingly inept. We arrived at 1450 for a 1500 booking and were kept waiting with little or no comms until 1530. The server said that they were unexpectedly busy that day, which we would have accepted, if only they'd told us this on arrival. Instead we were just ignored and left hanging around in limbo. The food was okay, but the poor service did put the damper on the overall experience.

Incredibly slow service, breakfast was ok, but dinner is below mediocre. The pork cheek tasted like something came out of a can and lamb racks was chewy and gristly. Absolutely waste of a night’s dinner and time.

On arrival there was no Maitre D. Our Waiter didn’t appear to know how to pour Prosecco into a glass which overflowed . No spoons came with the soup . No Steak knife came with the steak. The Dessert was delivered to the wrong table. Then on receipt on the bill we had been overcharged! Food was good.

I’m writing on behalf of my dad who took his partner of 15 years for their wedding anniversary here this Friday 25/08/23. While they praise the overall aesthetics of The Brasserie and were enjoying their special evening, it was a shock to me to receive an unexpected call from my dad to come pick him up from here explaining that he and his partner had shared a nightmare of an evening. Hour and half wait to have only received a starter while watching other guests come and go around them. After mentioning this to the waitress who my dad mentioned was not to blame as he is a very patient and understanding man, 25 further minutes pass where the situation is not addressed and no further food. After a final conversation with the manager my dad and his partner decided it was time to go to an establishment where they could dine for their anniversary meal, so I picked them up and the Golden Arches of McDonald’s awaited. Hugely disappointed son hearing such a dim experience for my dad on his special night. I will add they were given a bottle of wine as way of apology, a nice touch but the damage was done…….McDonald’s…

Used a voucher to book a spa day, paid an extra over £250 to include massages and lunch etc. Got a missed call 830pm the night before, no message left, returned call twice to no answer. Drove nearly 3 hours to be told they have no water and no facilities available. Massages had been cancelled without telling us. Seriously unimpressed. I understand that situations happen, but the lack of contact and zero empathy from staff was embarrassing.

Enjoyed our day at the spa. So much better than the last time. Think they've changed the staff. Warm friendly nothing too much trouble. Sadly gardens have been left to fall apart. Needs a lot of maintenance.

Arrived at the Manor easy check in and then shown the facility's, and then given our dressing gown and flip-flops then off to the restaurant for breakfast once finished, changed then in to the pool to swim and relax, easy to get a coffee later if wanted and we also had lunch the food in the restaurant was lovely and Megan and Rebecca were lovely girls who served us, we would definitely book a spa day again.

Could not fault the hotel, with glorious food expertly prepared, spacious bedrooms, handsome decor (if a little tired and weathered in books and corners) and utterly charming staff - consummate professionals. Would return without hesitation and intend to do so. 4 stars. in comparison, spa day a deflated disappointment. Sauna not operational - had we known we would have booked for a time when it was working. Consequently steam room packed cheek-by-jowl with the overflow. Lockers in the ladies changing room requiring complete overhaul as most lock mechanisms broken, and doors are a head injury hazard. Heavy limescale deposits coating metal features, befitting a veneer of dingy sport locker room, not luxury spa. Toilets and other facilities festooned with "out of order" signs. Gowns and robes thin, drab and tired. Tepid watered-down coffee served in budget self-serve flasks, not a cappuccino to be seen. Disinterested staff lacking engagement, though waitress Megan was an exception. One redeeming event was an exceptional massage by masseuse, David. Tips: lighting above the pool loungers should be dimmed/recessed, the glare is not conducive to relaxation. An option of slippers as opposed to gaudy plastic flip flops would be welcomed. Water to drink sorely needed in aqua area, water everywhere yet not a drop to drink. Not a feather of luxury to be seen in the spa, everything tired, worn and dilapidated, which is exactly how I felt on departure. 1 star.

Spa day visit. Nice breakfast on arrival. The hot drinks were budget with filter coffee in a flask (barista drinks were available later at high cost). Very clean in public areas but a little dilapidated in wet areas near the sauna and steam room (these rooms were very good). Management must have been aware as a maintenance man was scrubbing mildew for dear life (probably after a complaint). This made it inaccessible for a while. Treatments - was like attending a production line with hurried questionnaire admin rendering the session too short overall (£50 for 20 minutes pampering in a 25 minute appointment). Lunch was good, high quality menu. Overall good.

Just returned from an evening at Champneys Eastwell, probably right up there for one of the most overpriced meals ever, but that’s not the worst part looking around the restaurant which supposedly has a dress code people in T shirts tracksuit bottoms trainers and this was after I had told my children they were going to a “very smart hotel” dress up !! When I pointed the dress code out to the waitress her words were they are friends of the owner GOD HELP US!!!

Lovely hotel, the falconery/bird flying was 5* and the hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. But I am not entirely happy with service or quality so I can't give it a 5 star. I would recommend the management put on extra shifts for breakfast and dinner, it is not adequate to have 3 staff on for such busy times. Also the gardens and grounds (whilst looking impressive from afar) were unkept and looked abandoned, especially the walled gardens and outdoor pool. The new "Mews" rooms are spacious, clean but certainly not quiet. Walls are paper thin and the flooring is substandard, when the nextdoor guests walked around, my bed felt each step. The main door to the Mews bedrooms is so large and heavy that from 6:30am every morning (after a horrendously noisy night) i was awake with inconsiderate people slamming the door shut. I still enjoyed my stay here as I was with family I haven't seen in 18 months but for the price I paid for 4 nights, I expected more finesse and quality.

Staff here are lovely, really friendly and helpful. Our server was quick to tell us what offers we could take advantage of which we really appreciated- wouldn't have known otherwise and always happy to save a few quid! The food itself wasn't amazing; the salad bar has massively gone down hill which is saying something. Our main meals were both lukewarm when they arrived at our table. My steak skewers tasted odd, they'd definitely used a very cheap cut of meat so they were really chewy. We've been here a few times and know not to expect anything amazing with Harvester but the standards really have dropped which is a shame. Let's hope it was an off-day!
