Boswells Cafe in Havant

Love Boswell's....I am disabled and they really look after me..good always fresh and hot...very safe with social distancing policy. Prices have gone up alot over last year.. hopefully not any higher as would stop me being a regular...All day breakfast beats anywhere else...good quality sausages...

Located inside the shopping centre with inside and outside seating. Socially distanced safe service. Lovely range of food and cakes. Ideal for a coffee and cake break. Staff were polite and helpful. Added bonus of government discount.

Very busy place, polite staff and a good atmosphere. Thickshake wasn’t the best, a crushed ice and bannana was what I felt I had. Food was good no complaints there and ok for the money.

Am so glad my favourite coffee cafe is now open again .am always made welcome from every member of staff from Caroline the manageress to all that work there.always a warm & welcoming greeting .great customer service from one & all.keep it up

2 had the all day breakfast which was very good one had a jacket potato which was a little disappointing the beans were dry and the coleslaw needed seasoning

Been coming here for a while now with the husband and now we have a small addition we are still welcomed. Completely at ease here, so much so that it was the first place I breastfed in public. Stopped again here for a snack such a lovely clean friendly cafe. Plenty of seating and the younger staff are trained so well tables Re cleared quick. All staff are friendly and now there regulars well. Food ie excellent and tasty. Good choice of selection.

My mother and I had a prawn sandwich each, whilst there were plenty of prawns there was no Marie rose sauce so it was dry and tasteless.The chairs were in bad condition and the toilets were disgusting.We won't be going back in a hurry.

We took a risk as we do not like the Portsmouth one. Here at the Havant one, we were nicely suprised at how nice the food was and the staff are so friendly and very helpful to the customers. We will go again.

I have passed Boswells cafes in Portsmouth and Havant several times and today decided, with a friend, to give it a try. I asked for a pot of tea and a medium cola. The teapot held hardly a cup of tea and the amount of milk given would barely change the colour of the tea. I had to return the cola as it was flat and tasteless. It was replaced with an equally flat and tasteless liquid. Granted they did exchange it for a bottle of cola but £2.30 for a cola?The cafe was clean but had little atmosphere.There are many other cafes in town. Try them first!!

Mmmm been here many times over the years the prices are getting higher and the portions smaller some of the staff need to go on a customer service course as their attitudes does not do the business any favours.

Lovely fresh food. Smoothie was excellent too. Would definitely revisit. I had jacket potato with chilli and cheese - very tasty.

We usually visit for coffee and snacks, although breakfast and lunches are very good with lots to choose from 7 days a week.

Have visited this cafe on many occasions and have always been impressed by the quality of service (with a smile) and the food. They also cater for dietary requirements (just let them know) and have a gluten free menu.

Boswell’s staff are friendly and efficient. It is always busy, and the menu is fairly standard- but clearly displayed. Service is fast, place is clean and has a nice atmosphere. Great for coffee (which is nice too) and a nice pit stop for lunch or a snack as you wish.

Best place to stop for a bite to eat. We always stop here for a light lunch. Friendly polite staff. Very clean and tidy with staff consented cheking on which tables need clearing. Hot or cold food available

I have often thought of trying Boswells, so today, Sunday, I did. I was pleasantly surprised by the welcoming ambience, effecient and friendly service. I chose a staple of mine, a moka, which actually exceeded my expectation. I will certainly visit again.

Called in for a quick break from shopping. Fantastic range of food to suit the health conscious and those looking to indulge. Had a toasted flatbread with hummous and vegetables and a delicious cup of coffee. Friendly, efficient staff too.

An average café at average prices. Food cooked to order and delivered to table. Tried the cheese and ham croissant which looked lovely but I hadn't anticipated how much it would shrink during the warming process. nevertheless quite tasty.

Only went here for coffee and was surprised at the price. Don’t get me wrong the coffee was nice but overpriced.

I was starving after an early start and laden with shopping so this café was only a short stagger from Havant`s shops and car park. You queue to place your order. I passed some tired looking sausage rolls and main courses but it was 2.00p.m. I thought a fresh all day breakfast with a mug of tea would hit the spot after a long morning at a tourism event at Butlins in Bognor. It was fresh, two nicely cooked fried eggs, brown toast instead of the advertised and unneeded chips, baked beans, but then it went down hill 2 cheap sausages, and 2 rashers of average bacon with no tomatoes and no mushrooms. Service was quick and friendly and £8.90 was not bad for this and a giant mug of breakfast tea. However, whilst I have had worse I had have better. Someone in this chain should pop in to a Premier Inn to see what an all day breakfast could be like with a bit more effort and for less money too.

Tea and coffee and snacks are good loads of seating inside and in the foyer of the meridian center which can be noisy outside

Great atmosphere and very good quality food. The prices are little steeper than the average cafe but the quality of both the food and coffee make it worth it. We love their potato skins. They make a really good latte.

We decided to try Boswells out for lunch and were impressed. I went with the Senior Special, whihc was more than enough for me, the food was fresh and served hot, and the tea was a decent brew! My Fiancee enjoyed her hot baguette and Hot Chocolate, and in the end found she could not finish all of it, the portions were so large!

Never disappointed when we visit here. Always service with a smile, nice coffee and, when we do eat, good value food.

Nice clean place and staff ok. Food pretty general but all in all ok. Could do with another toilet instead of door being off resteraunt and both sex sharing. - This a bit off putting. About time they changed the wall paper

We stopped today for a cup of coffee and light lunch and were very pleased. Clean shop, friendly and helpful staff, food arrived promptly and was great value for money. I'm sure we'll be back.

I used to eat here frequently in the past when I was shopping in Havant, but as the shops have moved away from centre of Havant and towards the outskirts; I've had less reason to come into the centre of Havant. However, as I was passing I thought I would pop in for lunch and see what had changed.This is a cafe that does some cooked food on top of the usual light lunches and drinks; it is part of a small chain of shops that are in the south and west of England. On this visit I queued up to order my food. There were plenty of staff, both serving customers and cooking so my order was taken quickly and I sat down. The price was reasonable – on par with the major coffee chains. The staff were friendly and efficient and I saw them go out of their way to help an elderly lady, who had movement difficulties, to her table. There were plenty of tables available and the seat was comfortable. The place appeared to me to be spotlessly clean and I took one of the newspapers to read.My food arrived after a short wait. It was OK. The toasted sandwich was nice; though the accompanying salad was drowned in dressing. The carrot cake was the highlight and was moist and very tasty. The filter coffee was good, though wasn’t very hot.Overall, this is a good cafe as an alternative to the major coffee chains if you do find yourself in the centre of Havant. Its location isn’t great now, which is a shame, and I guess that this is one of the main reasons that it was quiet, but it does mean you have plenty of room.

Visit this place every time I go shopping with my elderly mother. She absolutely loves the soup with a pot of tea and I am a massive fan of your homemade sausage rolls. Always friendly staff, never wait to be seen to and the food is always served hot and without a long waiting time.

We come here a lot and have the soup. Very tasty, it comes with a baguette and croutons. It's also very good value. They also make a good mug of tea. Perfect lunch stop in winter to warm you up.

Went this afternoon with a friend for a spot of lunch before work and some quiet conversation and it was marvellous. Food was great and we left for work with happy faces.

I often visit with my boss for breakfast or lunch when out and about. The staff are always friendly and efficient. The food has always been very good in our experiences. Good sized portions and reasonably priced. Plenty of seating inside and outside of the cafe in the Meridian Centre.

Such a lovely cafe which is not only spotlessly clean, but fantastically staffed (at least 6 of them and on a tuesday afternoon, the stuff of dreams in hospitality) employees seem to love the job and do a great one as well, brilliant customer service which is fast and friendly. Perfect balance of showing a great relationship with the regulars without serving them before all the other paying customers. Food is hot and comes out quickly, I had the brie and bacon panini which was delicious, cant comment on other food but price is fair. Coffee is really lovely, proper coffee machine and most staff seem trained to barista level. Have to mention the cleanliness again, really comforting to eat and drink in a place that is pristine, at least one member of staff cleaning at all times! Highly recommend, especially over the other chain coffee shop just around the corner.

Go hear every Saturday with hubby and have a coffee it's nice just to sit and watch everyone else going about there business and the coffee always hits the spot

Wether you are on your own or with friends this cafe is very nice You can sit out side in tge shopping centre and chat or people watch The service is quick and all the staff are helpful . You can have hot food or just one of the lovely cakes and the toasted tea cakes are very nice

Really needs a re vamp.... with some interesting menu options opposed to the mundane microwave processed over priced stuff on offer. The staff could do with some customer training.

Went in mid-week with a friend for a catch-up. The service was warm and friendly. Decently priced. Must try.

I go to Boswells a lot where the atmosphere and staff are great. They are friendly, efficient and helpful. The food is well prepared and tasty. I would recommend Boswells at Havant for sure.

Came across this cafe whilst looking around the Meridan Centre, it was clean, bright and had a good selection of snacks and meals on offer. Good place to relax and get away from shopping.

We came here as we were passing and decided to have some lunch. I ordered a jacket potato. My wife asked what they had that was gluten free. They replied by stating that there chips were GF, however on further interrogation we found out that they cooked battered fish onion rings etc in the same oil. They seemed not to understand the idea of cross contamination with utensils as well.Be careful if you are a Coeliac!!

While doing a spot of shopping we decided to have lunch here. The place is obviously popular and although it was quite busy our food arrived quickly, hot and tasty. As others have commented the staff are friendly and helpful. Prices are very reasonable.The perfect place for coffee, a light lunch or snack.

This is a must visit whenever we are in Havant. Perfect for a break from the shopping for a snack, coffee and cake. The sausage sandwiches / baps are amazing and the toasted tea cakes are the best I've tasted.

Popped in for lunch and we weren't very impressed. Prices about average. My wife's jacket potato was awful....a small potato with very cheap baked beans (virtually no sauce in them) and a very small side salad. My pie and chips was average, just a pretty tasteless pie, dry peas, and average chips. Drinks were ok though, and the staff friendly. Wouldn't bother to visit here again.

Went in for a quick bite to eat, quiet a long que but we got served quickly, food came within 15 mins, very hot and tasty, expensive for what it is, friendly staff, clean, it was very busy, one ladies toilet for the whole place is ridiculous though need to get more, don't get me wrong, it was clean, friendly, staff were lovely, but the price you pay is expensive for a cafe.

I had the bacon & tom panini, my partner had fish & chips. Panini was ok fish & chips was poor. Fish was a bit soggy & chips were cheap oven chips with a poor texture, although they looked nice.Staff seemed quite friendly.

Very friendly staff always smiling. When we pop to Havant to do shopping we always stop for a snack. Food is ordered at the bar and it is brought to your table piping hot

The salads are amazing with so much choice and the chips were so tasty. The coffee shop is very cosy and down to earth. Its a real crowd pleaser.

Visited this café for a quick lunch. The staff on the food counter were friendly and helpful and delivered our meals quickly and efficiently. We had to order our drinks at a separate counter and received not great service. For one thing our two jacket potatoes arrived before our pots of tea. We soon realised that the staff behind the drinks counter had forgotten to make our teas and we had to go up and ask for them. The person behind the counter realised she had forgotten to make our drinks and no apology was offered. The jacket potatoes we had were good though and there was a wide range of condiments on offer. Not sure if we would return due to the disorganised service on the drinks counter, which is a shame because the food counter really had their act together.

We ordered a panini, a portion of loaded jacket potatoes and a ham & cheese baguette. All were of a decent standard, not the best ingredients but that's fair enough as it's only a cafe chain. Staff in abundance yet tables weren't being cleared, not that impressed with that! It's only a cafe so for £18 odd, for 3 lunches with 3 drinks isn't too bad

We visited Boswells for coffee and a snack whilst in Hampshire for the weekend. The service was excellent as were the coffee (choice of types of beans - rich or smooth), and the food. I had a Ham and Cheese Toastie, but this was not the usual fatty toastie just tasty and very enjoyable. My husband had a sandwich and calories were shown on all the food, if you were interested! Atmosphere was very good, seating was comfortable with a choice of timber tables and chairs or lower tables with leather chairs, very comfortable. It was warm and the lighting was just right. The cafe was clean and we felt the food was good value for money. Especially liked the fact that the staff worked as a team, and actually said please andthank you to each other as well as customers. They were very busy when we visited but still had time to recognise their regular customers and called them by name, helping one or two of the older customers by carrying their drinks/food to their table for them, if this was needed. One we had ordered food at the counter, it was brought to our table when it was ready. Which we thought was a nice touch. Their motto is 'We don't do fast food, just good food as fast as we can'. Excellent.

I went to Havant for some shopping and decided to go to Boswell's for a quick lunch...I had a bacon baguette and cup of black coffee....this was served very quickly and the staff were very friendly, they all seemed to be enjoying themselves at work and were having some great banter with the customers...a very pleasant experience all round.

Staff were helpful and polite - standard fare for a cafe in a shopping centre but my daughter enjoyed her bacon butty and the coffee was fine. Would be very easy for wheelchair access.

We go to Boswells because of the great coffee and food. The service is excellent and always with a smile. When they get to know you, there can be some great banter. I am disabled and all the staff are always helpful. Looking at a recent review "Bayleywillow" says "Please do not bother". Are you sure that this was the Havant branch of BOSWELLS??? As for not respecting the one or two minutes silence, just take a look around you. I have been at many places when this takes place and there are lots of people that ignore it. So please do not pick on one person. Maybe if you had the backbone to face this person and not to go behind her back on this site and ask why she did not observe the silence, you could have got an answer? Also, when you got the "Luke warm hot chocolate, did you mention it to any of the staff so that they could put it right? No, because you are gutless and would rather complain behind their backs. Shame on YOU.

I have missed the Boswells that used to be at Whiteley Village, so very happy to stumble across this one in the Shopping centre in Havant and delighted to find it is the same friendly atmosphere as before.Always good food, had a lovely slice of Carrot cake with my coffee - and good quality coffee for the connoisseurs...

We called in just before 11a.m on Rememberance Day. We got our drinks, watery coffee and luke warm hot chocolate - yuk, yuk yuk! At 11a.m. the customers and majority of staff stood still with bowed heads for the two minutes silence, that is apart from one staff member who carried on working and looked puzzled as to why everyone else had stopped. Very very disrespectful and the person concerned should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

My son and I stopped at Boswells for a hot chocolate with marshmallows. The food all looked very inviting, but I had just bought meat for that evening's meal so we restricted ourselves to a drink. We sat in the outside (although still indoors!) area of the café where there are various sets of tables and chairs. We opted for comfy leather armchairs and a low table, where we could sit and watch the world go by. The staff were friendly and helpful. We weren't rushed at all, and enjoyed a rather delicious hot chocolate drink . I'd definitely go there again.

Whilst out shopping, my boyfriend and I decided to stop here for some lunch. There were a few empty spaces but a lot of these empty spaces still had other peoples left over lunch and dirty cups/plates. We settled for one of the few spaces which were free and clean. There is quite a lot of variety in the menu to choose from which is good. I had the piri chicken baguette and my boyfriend had the bacon and cheese baguette, we also had a side of nachos. At first my meal had been made wrong so they brung my boyfriends baguette and the nachos over but I was still waiting for my food for a few minutes. The baguettes were nice, mine had some salad inside the baguette and from where I was sitting I could see my chicken being cooked/warmed up and the bacon being freshly cooked which was also quite nice/reassuring. The nachos were ok... nacho crisps with 'chilli con carne' and a dollop of sour cream. No guacamole, salsa or jalapenos/chillis. The chilli con carne was bland, no taste to it and had way to many kidney beans in for the ratio of other ingredients. We both also ordered coffee coolers which were yummy! I was offered flavouring for the coffee so I chose mint. I preferred this coffee cooler to some I have previously ordered in proper high street coffee shops. The till staff were really friendly. Staff who brung the food over were ok but didnt ask if they could get us anything else or come back and ask if food was ok. One member of staff was wearing leggings and when she bent over to clear tables, she gave the customers an interesting view of the colour and shape of her underwear... ooops. The food was average, price ok (it was £19.55 for a drink and baguette each and a side dish to share), staff were friendly. Tables could be cleared slightly quicker as wasnt appealing seeing lots of dirty bits everywhere.

We were visiting relatives in the area and needed to re-fresh before meeting them. After a brief walk around the local area we settled for Boswells. There was plenty of choice for meat-eaters but very, very limited choice for vegetarians. We ordered the cheese & ham melt, the brie and bacon & bacon melt with a side order of chips for the vegetarian in our party. The drinks were good (tea & soft drinks). We didn't have to wait too long for the food. There was nothing special about the food - it was average; because of this we didn't sample the large selection of cakes. All-in-all OK to refuel if nothing else was available.

My daughter and I accompanied by my baby granddaughter in her buggy were looking for lunch. Boswell's had plenty of space between the furniture for a buggy, so very baby/child friendly (excellent baby changing facilities too). We both had a club sandwich which was very tasty, a good size and fresh. I had a cuppa and was given the choice of milks, teapot or mug. My daughter had a glass of tap water. Both drinks were good quality and size. Everything was served as requested, quickly and with a relaxed friendly staff member. The place is very clean, including the comfy seating. Very good value for money and a pleasant atmosphere to chat and have a nice lunch without the buggy being in anyone's way. Will definitely return and recommend.

This is one of a chain of Boswell Cafe's that offer good quality food and drinks at fair prices. Friendly, efficient staff add to helping to create a good experience and the Cafe provides a bright spot in a not particularly exciting shopping centre. Very centrally situated not far from both the railway and bus stations. Pop in, you will not be disappointed.

I am a little funny when it comes to a cooked breakfast, I don't do eggs, and most English breakfasts have eggs in some way, shape or form. In the past I have had heated discussions with Poppins, Little Chef and also Wetherspoons regarding swapping the eggs for something else. I am glad to say at Boswells it was no problem at all. I got a polite, swift service, good food that was well cooked, and I would gladly go back for more. It seemed that nothing was too much trouble, and I told the chef ( a young man) that it was the best breakfast I had had in a long time, and I meant every word. Well recommended.

Very handy for the Meridian Shops, this friendly little cafe provides good food at reasonable prices (including a low-cost penners special).I often pop in there for an all-day breakfast (at any time, even in the afternoon on occasions) or rush and chips (fresh cooked to order .ike most of the food) when visiting Havant, and am never disappointed.

Clean cafe , efficient service, good choice of savory dishes , cooked breakfasts, paninies and cakes etc. Seating in cafe and in shopping mall. Also does take away. Order at till and food freshly prepared and served to table. Remember your loyalty card for a free drink when full.
