I have visited this cafe once before and the Break was in all honesty ok. However all my good will to them has diminished somewhat. Myself and a friend have tried a couple of times to pop in for breakfast at 10 am when ( as it says on the door it’s open) both times it was closed up and didn’t look like it was about to open . The first time we waited for 15 minutes and it was still closed. The second time the same . Not a good way to run a business by not sticking to your business hours. My friend and I won’t try a third time we’ve gone elsewhere.Shame.

A lovely, quaint little cafe that is, I think, the oldest cafe left in Worthing, who serve great homemade food. My husband had the Roast Beef with lots of fresh veg and I spotted Spanish omelette on the specials board so it was a no-brainier for me, I had to have that! Jen the owner asked if I wanted it with chips & beans or a salad? I’ve never chosen a salad when eating out before, so decided to have that for a change and I have to say it was blooming delicious! We visit when we can and highly recommend Bosun’s cafe!

Well what a little gem this traditional Cafe is. Lovely Teas and Coffee served by charming staff who were very helpful to customers. Myself and my Partner stumbled upon this gem whilst out walking on a Sunday morning. Tucked away in a quiet street just of Worthing Seafront. We had two freshly cooked breakfast and toast. The Lady cooking in the kitchen definitely knows how to cook. Every item was cooked to perfection. Definitely good value for money. I’m a bit of a breakfast connoisseur and I’m telling you if you like a good Breakfast come here. Other food on the menu looks really nice too. 9/10. Definitely will be back .

I had an amazing impromptu visit to Bosuns this morning. My order was pretty much all my favourite things, from the great selection in the build-your-own breakfast menu. It was perfect (for me). The Bubble and Squeak was a winner (it, along with the chips, was made just like my dad used to make them when I was kid). I loved it. Also I would like to mention how lovely and friendly the staff were. I will be going again and would defintely recommend you to try it.

Bosuns has just reopened after closing in March 2020 due to COVID. It has been completely refurbished. The food remains excellent and the prices are very reasonable. You can have an all day breakfast, a roast with all the trimmings and a dessert. The portions are huge and it is all cooked from fresh, so bear that in mind when ordering. The rice pudding is superb. You can get a class of wine from the micro pub next door. . The ever energetic Jenny and her indefatigable assistant Nicky are excellent.

Went in partly because Tastecard accepted but prices were so low anyway that we handed over virtually the full price. We both had the 2 course menu of the day (£7.95?). I had liver and bacon. This was fine, nothing special in itself, but was accompanied by 5 types of fresh vegetable, all perfectly cooked, and home produced crinkle-cut chips. This was followed by homemade tiramisu in a glass. Remarkably this was better than any tiramisu I have had at any restaurant. Ambience is either dated or characterful, depending on your taste. Other customers at lunchtime were all regulars, elderly - and well looked after by owners.

If you like food made to order that really has that home cooked taste then this is the place for you!!! Very reasonably priced, great food and all in one of the oldest cafes in Worthing. Nice atmosphere and amazing omelettes, everything is cooked fresh so if it’s busy you may need to wait a little ... but it’s well worth it!! I’ve come here lots had a variety of lunches and breakfasts and I’ve not had a bad meal. It can get busy but that’s a good sign and it’s one of those places that has a family feel to it, like you are in a friends house eating rather than a soulless chain.

I am honestly surprised that this place has any good reviews. Went in today an ordered the breakfast which came with a tea or coffee. I asked for a coffee and what came out was this instant machine coffee which I couldn't drink. They use the same machine you might find in hospital lobbies - where you pay 50p, push a button and get a latte. Anyway I politely asked for a tea instead, which came out weak and milky, so I had to ask for a teabag and more hot water. Then the kick in the teeth - the bill - they had charged me for replacement tea! I complained and said "it clearly says a free tea or coffee" and this is the best bit - the owner actually came out and started giving off to me! She brought out some beans and said "this is the same coffee they do in costa". She proceeded to argue with me for a few minutes before she finally said to the girl who works there "just give him the discount, get him out of here" I mean the audacity of the woman was completely unbelievable! Needless to say I will never be back. I have never experienced such rudeness from a shop owner in my whole life.

When I feel like a quick hot lunch I often go to a traditional cafe and order the all day breakfast. It is one of the few thinks we do well in this country. Everything cooked to order and hard to get wrong. Therefore I was very disappointed with the breakfast at this cafe. The sausage was rubbery (pre-heated or tinned?) the bacon rather leathery and the egg very dry. Had it all been microwaved? The meal was very cheap but that is not the point if the food was poor. The cafe also offered a range of home cooked meals so perhaps I made a poor choice. There are so many places to eat in Worthing that I think it is better to compete on quality rather than price. Service was friendly and efficient but one of the poorest meals I have had for a long time.

The menu looked excellent as did the food being served to customers.

The cooked breakfast was excellent, the coffee lovely and Jenny (the owner) along with the waitress really friendly. Curiously pleasant experience! As other TA contributors have noted not the must high-end or typical cafe setting/layout and atmosphere and on our recent lunchtime visit the small number of customers all seemed to be regulars and retired. However, Bosuns is clearly all about traditional English fare at exceptional good value prices. Both wife and I had the Roast Chicken. In short...excellent. Large servings with an extensive variety of fresh vegetables and all cooked well. Staff/Owner very friendly and service at pleasant leisurely pace.

Feeling peckish a week or two ago whilst sipping a cider or two in the wonderful Anchored (right next door) we decided to pop into Bosuns Cafe for a sausage sandwich. Wow what a place, old fashioned and quirky and absolutely wonderful!! The very friendly waitress took my order and when I told her we were next door having a drink she offered to bring it in to us. 15 mins later two hot tasty sausage sandwiches with brown sauce (as requested) were delivered to us, on plates, by the owner with a big smile. Yum. Can't wait to return to eat in Bosuns soon and try one of the legendary roasts!

We visited spontaneously for a spot of breakfast, hoping for a traditional British fry up - and we certainly weren't disappointed! A lovely little cafe with an eclectic seaside theme, and really friendly staff. The all day breakfast is a pick your own job, just make as many choices as you want - highly recommend the soss! None of the mass-produced rubbish you get in chains, just good honest produce cooked individually for you and served piping hot. Expect a bit of a wait for your food, but it's well worth it. Prices are very reasonable too but one brief caveat - being a small cafe they don't have the facility to take card payments, so be sure you remember your cash. All in all, highly recommended for a traditional cafe treat...

My wife and I often have lunch here, it is a little gem of a cafe. Although it claims to be the oldest cafe in Worthing, it is something akin to the best kept secret in town. The main meals are superb, fresh meats and loads of vegetables. Came here for lunch as a treat for my Mum and Dads anniversary. Must admit I have past this quaint little place for a number of years and always thought that "my mum & Dad would love it here, I must come here one day!" Being a bit out of the main busy town area I always forgot though. Well I was right as they sure did!! The service, staff, food & atmosphere were all lovely. Really felt homely and made to feel welcome as if friends rather than customers. Lovely home cooked food from roast dinners, salads, jacket potatoes etc puddings like trifle, rice pud and banana split. I had the chicken, bacon & ham salad which was a very generous portion! It was a shame I could only manage to eat 1/2 of it but as it was so scummy I asked if I could bring it home. Jenny happily put it in a take away container for me. Generous portions but reasonable prices. My Mum and Dad liked it there so much they want to arrange a family dinner to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Will definately eat here again. It was nice to see people popping in to say hello and the staff making time to stop and chat, It was very clear that all the people eating there at the same time as us had been returning customers too. Says it all really : )

The first thing you notice about this café when you walk in is its really 'homely' feel. It really does feel like walking into an old country style family kitchen. Its size makes it feel very personal (about 20 covers when full) You may need to be prepared for a bit of a wait if it is busy as all the food is cooked from scratch but it really is noticeable in the quality of the food as it all tastes home cooked and from what we have tried so far it is all cooked using good quality produce. We have only been for breakfast but I can thoroughly recommend it. I can also say that the service has been really good and completely in keeping with the style of the café - a very homely and friendly manner. If all that wasn't enough for you it's all very reasonably priced as well. We had 2 breakfasts (mine was particularly large) and 2 big mugs of tea for £10.00.In short, fresh food, great atmosphere, great service, good value.....what's not to like?

This is a nice little cafe in a side street just off the main shopping area. It's very small with just a handful of tables and although it wasn't full when we visited there was a steady turnover of tables. The cafe itself is a bit dated and could perhaps do with a spring clean in places but the food and service were great - the breakfast is based on a 'X items' system so you literally could have any combination of items that you wanted eg bacon, eggs, sausage, beans, hash browns, mushrooms, tinned tomatoes, fresh tomatoes, black pudding, bubble and squeak and even chips! The price included toast or bread and butter (lovely bloomer bread) and also tea, coffee or squash which was nice touch as not everyone drinks hot drinks. The lady serving was very friendly and the cafe has a nice homely atmosphere, the food came quickly and was well cooked although perhaps not the greatest quality produce compared to other places we had breakfast. All in all though it was great value and the food was tasty so would definitely recommend.

After a busy day at work I needed a good dinner so remembering my last visit I made a bee-line to Thieves. I had a Cheese & Bacon Burger (beef patty with beechwood-smoked streaky bacon, Barber's 1833 Vintage Cheddar, coleslaw and lettuce, served in a seeded bun) totally delicious. Although the patty was a small, thin thing it had plenty of flavour and it didn’t seem too thin like in other places I’ve been to. It tasted great with the cheese and coleslaw, and good bacon. I didn’t know about the ‘£14 burger and a beer’ offer when I came in, and the beer I ordered originally wasn’t in that offer, but the very friendly and helpful barman informed me and suggested a beer that was in the offer, I took his recommendation and have no regrets about it! Good customer service there Thieves, wish I knew his name to give a shout-out here

Disappointed with the meal as everything was very dry and overcooked. Unfortunately it’s not the first time we have not been happy here. Will definitely give it a miss for a while in the hope it will improve. The restaurant wasn’t even busy. Previous occasion was the food didn’t come out warm enough despite meals being sent back twice. Again restaurant wasn’t busy at all. Yes we did receive money off last time for our complaints but it just ruins our experience and isn’t any consolation really. Let’s hope things get better as I would really want that being that you’re just round the corner from where I live.
