Boro Bistro in Southwark

I love coming to this French Bistro for Lunch, Dinner or Coffee. Waiters are really friendly and both Managers currently doing a great job. Good beers and wine as well as you would expect.

Very nice place. I loved the tapas.

Been meaning to go to Boro Bistro for sometime now and our first visit did not disappoint! Greeted with a friendly and warm welcome we ordered a few dishes of the French ‘tapas’ from the menu. They were all delicious, generous and packed full of well balanced flavour. A good wine menu and great music playing for the perfect sunny Sunday afternoon dining experience. We will be back again!

I loved this place. I've passed it many times and decided to book a last-minute dinner date with a friend. The team were lovely, the food was delicious, and the interior had very cool decor. Especially the bathroom! It was a little pricey for small dishes, but my friend and I enjoyed it, so it was worth it. They accidentally added a bottle of wine to our bill, which I realised after we had paid, and they were apologetic and refunded us immediately. For two drinks, four tapas, and two desserts, it was around £140. Would recommend and will return.

Unfortunately we were forgotten sowhen I went up to ask how long our meal was going to be they said that they had forgotten and when it did come the food was cold, and our waiter had obviously not been in the shower for days, unless he has a medical issue I couldn't recommend this place to anyone as, I don't believe I could go back there. Shame as the venue is quite nice in a rustic,type of style.

Food tastes very good, it was definitely worth it. And the service was excellent, very nice and said what they served us.

A great place, hidden in a side street next to Borough Market - they were the only place with a free table on a Sunday afternoon for a group of 6. Amazing interior design and restrooms decor, a must-go for people who love attention to details.

The "tapas" are very scarce. A place with a lot of atmosphere and very good presentation but it would be a "snack" and not cheap at all. Very friendly staff. If you're not hungry it's very cute.

Bad rating because the reservation was made there! I was surprised... empty! The only person there asked us to go into a door next to a Turkish restaurant... thank goodness... the service was good... and the food was quite nice. The drinks prices are really high! It's London...

Have been to the actual venue many times over years and as it has been in various guises. Boro Bistro is perfect for small after work catch-ups without any hustle / bustle but can also cater for larger groups at weekends etc - not sure if there's still a resident DJ at the weekends but the overall vibe is pretty cool, retro paraphernalia and some interesting art-installations dotted around - if you've been, you'll know exactly what these are! Food / drink / service and very attentive, no pushy sell-on for higher priced wines or the need to over order dishes - perfect for our needs and will look forward to a return visit, hopefully in the warmer months when we can sit outside! Food and atmosphere were good but the service was so slow it made it very difficult to enjoy the evening. We didn’t have cutlery when our food arrived and had to ask for it. Didn’t have glasses for our water, had to ask. Had to ask to have the table cleared 30 minutes after finishing our mains. The restaurant was quite busy but there were so many inattentive waiters that it almost felt like we were being ignored. Could’ve been a lovely meal but a shame the service really let it down.

If you walk through Borough Markets green market area the Bistro is down the ally way. Didn’t book however got a table inside. Lovely place, great menu and food was lovely. Highly recommended!

Food was amazing but the service wasn’t . We were a group of 4 and our foods came out from the kitchen 10-15 min apart. For one of us we had to ask when will it be out , as I think they forgot about it

Quirky restaurant, tucked away near London Bridge station and just behind Southwark Cathedral. Such a fun place. Great music, delicious food and excellent service. I highly recommend.

Overall an ok experience, the decor and ambiance is great. Few things that let it down. One of our mains didn’t arrive and we were told it had been missed which is annoying as the lady read the order back to us, we didn’t have time to wait for it to be done as we had a concert. Mains came out and the table was full of empty starter plates and the waiter tried to squeeze the new food on the table when really he should have stopped, cleared the table or asked someone else to and then gave us the rest of the food. A drinks order was also missed and we had to ask again. So not the end of the world but not the service you’d expect

I have been going to Boro Bistro regularly for the past 10 years, since my office is nearby, and it's one of my favourite spots in London. The atmosphere is warm and cosy, especially the outdoors. There is outdoor heating therefore even when it's cold you can still enjoy a pleasant evening, and they also provide blankets. The service was excellent as always, everyone friendly and helpful. Great drink and food (I just hope they would bring back the artichokes hummus in the menu, it was spectacular!) Totally recommended for any type of occasions with friends and colleagues.

This is great location tucked between Southwark Cathedral and London bridge - it always has a friendly cosy atmosphere. The food is really tasty - sharing plates. Given where it is, it's quite reasonable too.

Great simple food in generous portions

The service was not great, the waiting staff kept forgetting to bring things and we were ignored so many times. It wasn't even that busy, so it almost felt on purpose. The food is also incredibly overpriced! Starter portion food for £12-£15... and it tasted very average, which was surprising. The drinks were tasty and well made but the wait times were so long!

I come here atleast twice a month and love it good vibes amazing food and welcoming staff!

A lovely family meal at Boro Bistro! The staff were brilliant and very attentive. Despite it being a busy thursday evening and us having two babies in tow they were very helpful supplying high chairs and frequently checking on us which made it easy to order food and drinks. We were sat in our own booth so it wasn't too noisy and we were able to chat, which was great. I've been a few times and the food is always delicious and the wine excellent. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Solo en el frente de la música, ya que la mayoría de los invitados están ocupados charlando y disfrutando de la comida , pero la música como se menciona en otra crítica es simplemente demasiado alta. Acepto que por la noche y para los más jóvenes es probablemente aceptable, pero me reúno allí con amigos para ponerme al día y no es aceptable tener que gritar. Su Boro Board tiene algunos de los quesos mejor guardados de Londres y con charcutería y un montón de otros pequeños mordiscos realmente gran valor.

Been going to BB for years and our never disappoints. Tapas with a French twist and every time I’m there I hear French spoken by some of the patrons which is always a good sign in my book. Location is great and given that I don’t think the prices are outrageous. It always be a borough go to for me

Unfortunately hugely let down by staff that weren't attentive. Also reminded us twice that we had limited time on the table, despite having over an hour left. Took 20 mins to even get a drink order, and had to flag the waiter to get bill as we sat for 20 mins with dirty plates and no desert menu.

The Boro bistro was an amazing restaurant! The boro platter was incredible, the meat, cheese and wine was faultless to say the least and thats coming from a French person! The service was lovely, everyone polite and served with smiles on their faces. Definitely recommend!! 100%

My friend and I went for lunch on Sunday. We had great service, delicious food, and the setting and ambience were fabulous. Highly recommended.

Food was lovely but service was so disappointing I wouldn’t eat here again. We ordered a selection of plates that were whisked away as soon as they looked vaguely finished (they weren’t), we had only just ordered dessert (having asked three times for the menu- generally the waiters were very inattentive and it was hard to get service) when we were told the restaurant closing. We had only been there for about 1hr 15 minutes by this point and weren’t given our table until 8.35pm despite booking for 8.15pm (which was earlier time for evening sitting). We told the waiter we needed to have dessert but then were told three times (whilst eating it) we needed to go and were given the bill before we’d received dessert which I’ve never experienced before. As soon as we had paid I felt like we were just being hassled out, particularly by one large bald guy who resembled a bouncer. Despite spending over £100 on a couple of bottles of wine we had plastic pint glasses planted on our table and when I went to toilet I returned to the table to find my wine glass was gone and wine decanted into plastic. This totally spoilt the enjoyment of almost a full glass of a nice wine, which I ended up leaving. The final straw was the bouncer guy coming over and telling me us rudely they were closed and we “needed to leave”. It wasn’t even 10.30pm and still felt early - plus other customers were still there. We felt like we were pushed out and it completely soured the evening which was a birthday celebration - and felt a bitter end. Bora Bistro I had high expectations - and you failed miserably.

Not a good experience. I came there for a birthday and the waited kept on coming every 5 minutes to tell us that they couldn't keep the table for much longer, even though there were plenty of seats still available. The food was too salty, and they forgot to remove the onions from my burger.

Great good and wine and service very good. My request for a change of table was accommodated with no fuss. Great atmosphere !

Having been to Boro Bistro many times before and had great service, I was surprised how bad it was on this occasion. We had to ask for out drinks multiple times. They told us the first time they lost the ticket and second time most of us had our drinks with another's coming 15 minutes later. The team lacked real apology and when we asked to not pay sevice charge we was questioned why, when it's was very obvious service feel short this time. I had invited friends who had never been before and now probably won't be back. We would of spent more if we could get served promptly. So disappointing when it has been great in the past.

The atmosphere is original and we liked it; the reservation went smoothly. Our cheese and sausage platter to share was very tasty and filling. The staff was very friendly. Overall a good atmosphere!

The dishes are expensive for a very small quantity... Fortunately the setting, the atmosphere and the servers save the rest.

Restaurant located in a great setting, the service is classic but sometimes a little slow. The dishes tested are good however the prices are a little high. Croque monsieur £9 Pulled pork £10 Roasted leeks, pistachio pesto, mint and hazelnuts £8 Chocolate fondant £10 + 12.5% ​​service charge

The only good thing from that place is the glasses the rest better avoid, the service the worse I have ever seen, we will never back

An early dinner/late lunch (4.30) for 8 people. A couple of vegetarians, a couple of allergies (two egg, one nuts) and still we ate (between us) every starter and half a dozen other dishes to follow. Service with a friendly smile and efficient through the the different needs of our party. This is a great place, and I go a lot, for good reason. Thank you everyone. Regards, David

No menus provided at the table, we had to request after 20 mins. Once we got the attention of a server, she was attentive and great after that.

Food was good - we had various small plates - but we were brought 2 dishes that we did not order and the waiter was actually quite rude when we declined them. Good wine list, albeit very expensive by the glass.

Really nice selection of sharing dishes, with good variety across vegetarian and non-vegatarian.

I was recommended Boro Bistro as I was looking for a relaxed eatery in the London Bridge area. I was not disappointed and was pleasantly surprised. Although a fairly warm evening and loads of outside tables, we chose to eat inside which was funky, cosy and welcoming. The live DJ played great music, the waiter was extremely helpful and accommodating and the food was exceptional. To top it all, the toilets are a must see. Overall a fabulous evening and will definitely return. Great place for friends or romance.

A great discovery, just on the edge of the hustle and bustle of Borough Market. A place to relax while admiring a diverse decor. The croque-monsieur are excellent… so is the beer.

So disappointed! Visited last year and had a great experience….this year was very poor. Table was cold as the door to the outside was left open, service was shocking!! Such a shame.
