Boro Bistro in Southwark

Food was lovely but service was so disappointing I wouldn’t eat here again. We ordered a selection of plates that were whisked away as soon as they looked vaguely finished (they weren’t), we had only just ordered dessert (having asked three times for the menu- generally the waiters were very inattentive and it was hard to get service) when we were told the restaurant closing. We had only been there for about 1hr 15 minutes by this point and weren’t given our table until 8.35pm despite booking for 8.15pm (which was earlier time for evening sitting). We told the waiter we needed to have dessert but then were told three times (whilst eating it) we needed to go and were given the bill before we’d received dessert which I’ve never experienced before. As soon as we had paid I felt like we were just being hassled out, particularly by one large bald guy who resembled a bouncer. Despite spending over £100 on a couple of bottles of wine we had plastic pint glasses planted on our table and when I went to toilet I returned to the table to find my wine glass was gone and wine decanted into plastic. This totally spoilt the enjoyment of almost a full glass of a nice wine, which I ended up leaving. The final straw was the bouncer guy coming over and telling me us rudely they were closed and we “needed to leave”. It wasn’t even 10.30pm and still felt early - plus other customers were still there. We felt like we were pushed out and it completely soured the evening which was a birthday celebration - and felt a bitter end. Bora Bistro I had high expectations - and you failed miserably.

Not a good experience. I came there for a birthday and the waited kept on coming every 5 minutes to tell us that they couldn't keep the table for much longer, even though there were plenty of seats still available. The food was too salty, and they forgot to remove the onions from my burger.

Very nice place. Very good meal.

The atmosphere is original and we liked it; the reservation went smoothly. Our cheese and sausage platter to share was very tasty and filling. The staff was very friendly. Overall a good atmosphere!

The dishes are expensive for a very small quantity... Fortunately the setting, the atmosphere and the servers save the rest.

The only good thing from that place is the glasses the rest better avoid, the service the worse I have ever seen, we will never back

Restaurant located in a great setting, the service is classic but sometimes a little slow. The dishes tested are good however the prices are a little high. Croque monsieur £9 Pulled pork £10 Roasted leeks, pistachio pesto, mint and hazelnuts £8 Chocolate fondant £10 + 12.5% ​​service charge

Very noisy environment, perhaps more suitable for young people than families. We ordered 5 meals, but more arrived, and one never arrived. The food is also good…

A great little bar that takes you back in time with tankers as pint glasses.

Super accueil, carte originale, prix abordables, cadre intérieur et extérieur très sympa. Équipe française et anglaise, pour notre plus grand plaisir ☺️ Une belle découverte faite par hasard !

Way too expensive for what they serve

This place is nice for a drink and snacks.The choice of main dishes is small and the quality is not the best. Next time I will go there only for a drink.

A great discovery, just on the edge of the hustle and bustle of Borough Market. A place to relax while admiring a diverse decor. The croque-monsieur are excellent… so is the beer.

Good food but very disappointing service. Tables in use outside which meant the door was left open making our table really cold. Shame as our last visit was very good.

Great place and the food is good value for money.

A best kept secret just off Borough Market. We have eaten at Boro Bistro multiple times. French small plates are delicious and well priced. Shabby, quirky decor is fun! Nice staff. Be sure to book in advance 😀

A must-visit place in London! The music is nice, the atmosphere is relaxing and the food brings back memories of summer aperitifs. The quirky decor brings a certain charm and the servers are polite and kind! I recommend either for a drink or to eat there.

Fantastic food friendly staff and great atmosphere!

Came here for a catch up with a friend. Had a lovely evening. Setting and ambiance is good. However music was too loud and at times we struggled to hear each other. Service was polite and professional from the lovely young lady. Service from the male staff was slow and we felt like they didn't really care. Food was nice as was the wine and we felt very good value. I had a lovely French rose and a cocktail. However I was shocked that a French bistro had pays d'oc and non French wine. We liked that we were able to stay as long as we liked and I would return. Please just train the waiters like the fantastic young lady.

We had a lovely time at the Boro Bistro today, fools was really lovely and really enjoyed the quirky decor.

We arrived and the girl said they had no table available. We made a booking on the website and then she accepted us. Half of the place were empty. They gave us a table inside in a little dark corner. We ask and they guy change us nicely. Food needed more salt. Kinda expensive for what it is. Not going back

Having lived in London for over 20 years, we’ve never been here before. It’s a real shame we have never found it before. Great funky little venue with great inside and outdoor seating, quirky decor and a really great menu. It’s a mixture of small and large plate tapas from Spain and France - the croque monsieur was amazing! Very reasonable priced dishes. Will definitely be going back there again in the future!!

Very good range of small sharing plates. Generous enough to make 4 plates between two people quite a filling meal. Very friendly helpful staff and pretty quick service. Will definitely try again. Only criticism is music was a little loud.

Great spot for a bite to eat. The menu is great, lots of small plate options that are perfect for sharing. They do also have burgers though. Everything was beautifully cooked and the staff are lovely.

Nice place, tasty food if small portions. Service welcoming but let down by our order going to the wrong table (we had to reorder) and the waiter not being willing to ask the DJ to turn down the music. Both our table and the one next to us were deafened by the music loudness. I asked the DJ to turn it down somewhat. Reluctantly and with a grimace he turned it down by about 5 decibels. If the place were a nightclub, I’d understand very loud music but it’s a restaurant. Please take note.

The outside area is really nice especially in the sun. Also love the toilets - really aesthetic. Food was decent, service could have been a bit better (the waiter took our menus before we had a chance to order to give them to another table and said we had run out of menus) from a hospitality manager’s perspective I understand but at least a sorry could have been said rather than taking the menus off our table in such an abrupt way.

The portions were extremely small. I know that they are small plates but the portion of fries was mediocre! Quite expensive for what you got. Great charcuterie board. Good wine. Great ambience. Quirky and interesting.

Hanan was a great host, smiley, full of joy, recommended dishes with we ended up ordering and enjoying. She was the hostess with the mostess lively smile and nature! She was THE perfect example of what a hostess should be so you got THE most out of your visit! A-MAZ-ING!!!!!!!

I have been here before and really enjoyed the food. But last night was disappointing. The mussels were overcooked and presented in damaged shells. The cheese and meat platter was meat heavy with the tiniest amount of cheese. The prawns were nice but slightly overcooked. Instead of good value it now feels over priced.

The restaurant was a little difficult to find but worth the search when we got there. The food was lovely and the service was very attentive. The only downside was service towards the end of our meal as ‘all’ the staff seemed to be on break after 3pm?

I like the setting, I've been coming here for years. But the menu never changes and it getting very tired and uninteresting. We didn't even finish what we ordered. It's sad, because it's a lovely place to sit outdoors on a warm night, but I don't think we'll go again

All in all the food was great, the ambiance was great however, once our booking neared the end the staff switched. They took away the wine we had paid for because someone had booked the table after us. Offered no alternative to finish our wine at another table. Staff were rude and unaccommodating.

20 open tables but was told to go see the ‘hostess’ by the young male waiter who then told my sister she couldn’t use the toilet until the ‘hostess’ has confirmed that we can have one of the many open tables. Shoddy little place with imbeciles for waiters

As ever Ella and her hard working team make the visit to Boro Bistro a real joy. I love taking new people to discover this place even in a very busy market day the place is a little oasis.

In the most part - a fabulous evening. A somewhat strange welcome from a member of staff who was pedantic, not friendly or welcoming at all - a real shame. However, the rest were great and would certainly visit again but avoid this particular person.

Although the garden was absolutely lovely, I've never had such dry and disgusting mussles in my life. The pot must have been off the fire for hours. Maybe they prepare them all in the morning. The service was not terrible at all since the guys were quite nice, but no one asked why we sent an entire plate back or if we had enjoyed our food. The cod was as tough as leather. The side salad and the cheeses were the best part of the lunch. A real shame since this place has so much potential and I am sure they can do better. Maybe the cook just had a bad day.

Most of food was great quality and good value. Few misunderstandings with our order but all sorted very nicely. Good atmosphere. Fun evening. Cocktails were not quite up to par - we had 3 different ones - all tasted a bit watery.

Booked in advance as weather was due to be nice and wanted an outside table. Was not given one, told it was only possible to sit inside and then were constantly reminded that we needed to leave after 1h30 despite tables around us emptying.

We had a fabulous evening at Boro - food, drink and service is all excellent and we were luck enough to sit outside all evening in their lovely quirky courtyard. It’s the second time we’ve been and we’ll be back, thank you to the team.

A little bit of French style hidden away from passers by. This busy little courtyard is somewhere you can spend hours sipping on a refreshing Vedette or a chilled wine. Truly memorable..Great service particularly the lovely Nahel (?) on the "reception" Highly recommend.

Haven't been there for about 2 years, loved it before. But now the menu is a lot smaller, and the "French vibe" is not much there any longer. Before you could try loads of French style tapas, now it is a lot more mainstream, with a few plates typically French. A shame...

Excellent venue to meet with friends. Service was exemplary. Food was good, a little on the small side. We had a very good night here.

Nice cocktails at decent prices, nice area to sit outside. Staff were lovely but service was very slow and multiple food items were mixed up (some arrived twice and some didn’t arrive at all). Would go back for drinks but not for food.

Food is sooo good, service ruined it. We were just constantly waiting to be served, forgotten dishes and then after having to wait for so long to be served / our plates cleared, we tried to order dessert and they told us they needed the table back. This would’ve been fine if the service hadn’t been so slow that we didn’t get to enjoy our food and order a dessert. We would have been more understanding if the staff were rushed off their feet but they were mostly stood around. Annoying but like I said food was amazing

50 minute wait for mediocre food..a cod dish bland beyond beliief .asked a waiter would the food be much longer. He didn't even bother to return with usual sorry its on the way.had to constantly try and ask were the food was.table next to us order came in 20 minutes. Our waiter probably forgot to put the order in.the staff constantly stare at the floor in case somebody would make a request! Of course the service charge on without even a sorry was lunch really rubbish!

Absolutely superb meal and drinks. Food was amazing, especially the chocolate fondant and the cheese, staff were great, DJ played some lovely music and the whole place has a great vibe 10/10!

Fabulous hideaway eatery in the heart of London. Tapas style food, good range of drinks and staff are very friendly. Ramp access to outdoor area, somewhat limited space between tables in places.

Close to London Bridge Station and local to Brough Market, Boro Bistro is tucked away by the River Thames with outside (heated in the winter) and indoor seating areas. The decoration is quirky and fun - especially the urinal in the men's restroom!!! We received a warm welcome and were given a choice of tables. Our drinks order was quickly served and our food order was taken. We made our selection of several dishes from the French tapas-style menu. All the food was tasty, well prepared and presented, and was good value. Our waitress was very friendly, shared a joke, and efficient. A very pleasant experience - we will return.

It was great, the food the atmosphere. Beyond reasonable prices for the food you get and for where it is. The video might not be everyone's cup of tea cause it's the way to the bathroom and it was quite dark but nevertheless i thought it was really cool hence the video. But most importantly the food was delicious! 😍

Despite the terrible summer weather we were seayed outside under an awning with blankets. We ordered a Boro platter and some small plates. Everyone enjoyed the food. Only small issue was that one of the sides came very late, so it was refused. Lovely oasis from hustle and bustle of the market.

I have been here before, and had a good experience on both occasions. I love how different the decoration of the terrace is. This is the perfect place for a few drinks with nibbles. I can not recommend the French Fries with Truffle Oil enough. It was our favourite. The hummus and bread were lovely, too. The staff were very nice and the whole environment was very pleasant. I will definitely be back.

Boro Bistro is a peaceful haven set in the hustle of Borough Market. Tucked away next to the south shoulder of London Bridge - it’s serves up a selection of French-led small plates. There’s nice eclectic seating outdoors but we chose the quirky interior. This is an English summer for goodness sake! The table ordered pull pork burger - which looked succulent. We ordered crab cakes - pretty good / perhaps a little over fried? The prawns were tasty and messy. Also a classic beef burger which was on the right side of medium. Service was friendly and overall, the vibe was chilled. All in all, a great spot for an informal meet up with friends - summer or winter.

40 mins to be served… could not get anyone to come over. Although when it came time for the bill they were extremely quick at getting us out…

Ate inside on the second hottest day of the year - my fault as I had booked ages in advance. Team kindly offered an outside seat when one became available but I decided to stay inside. Restaurant has a mostly tapas style with some larger items available. Good selection of food and drinks available (check out the menu online). It offers a 2 hour booking for 2 persons, which seems to be a rarity nowadays - so you do not feel rushed and are able to enjoy your time there! I would highly recommend BB for their food/drink/service... only challenge might be finding the actual restaurant (it is one level down from Borough HIght Street ground level!)

Delicious tapas style French food. We all loved the prawns and mussels, fresh bread and cheese. Have as much or as little as you like. Fun relaxed atmosphere. Lovely spot under the trees for natural shade. Fun toilets!
