Loved this local bookshop, I came in for breakfast and of course left with a book too. They also had a great selection of gifts and funny cards as well as so many books from so many genres. Really friendly and helpful staff and breakfast with a coffee was amazing. It’s definitely more than just a bookshop which I love, I could’ve spent all day inside. I’d never been to Spalding before but I’d definitely come back for this independent bookshop!

I can only recommend this gem of an independent bookshop and cafe. The range of books they have on offer is fantastic and the staff are always very willing to help and friendly. I have been multiple times for both lunch and for coffees and have never had a bad meal. I can particularly recommend the cheese scones, which are delicious!

Got there about 3pm. Staff all sitting around a table and no one behind the counter. One got up and served us. Both of the cakes I and OH had were very dry and clearly very stale, must have been days old! Place was empty apart from us and two other customers. Didn’t feel at all welcome tbh. Won’t be going back.

We were presented with stale cakes and tasteless coffee. The catering staff seemed to be having a social gathering in the customer eating area just so wrong. The place seemed devoid of life which for 3pm in the afternoon is odd. This is one eating establishment i shall be avoiding in future.

We have been coming here for a number of years as it used to be a little hidden gem of a lovely cafe. Our visit today was very disappointing, the menu has completely changed and is now very basic and overpriced. I had a bacon Brie and cranberry panini and was amazed to find one lonely piece of bacon and a slither of cheese! It was more like a jam sandwich! The salad was mostly hard lettuce stems ( I even won the jackpot and got the middle stalk - that is usually discarded!) along with half a tiny cherry tomato. It is safe to say we will not be returning anytime soon and wouldn’t recommend this cafe anymore.

We ordered our drinks together with food. The waitress bought us our coffee's, but 20 mins later after we had drank our coffee's we still had not received our food. The waitress who took our order walked by our table a few times, so she could see we were still waiting for our food. I would have expected the waitress to say something like, sorry for the delay, or maybe explain why we were still waiting, or maybe your food is coming next. We noticed that other people were also waiting for their food, so we were not the only one's getting fed up of waiting. The staff were not particularly friendly or talkative, the table was very sticky, and the surroundings very bland. Nothing like it used to be. We decided to simply pay for our coffee's & cancel our food, and won't be going again.

Our usual eating place The Loft was closed today so thought we’d give this a try as a few years back it was lovely & very popular. Very quiet today, had a jacket potato, was lukewarm all fillings had been thrown on top & no butter, I prefer to put my own fillings in & would’ve preferred them served on the side, coleslaw wasn’t homemade & not nice at all. My partner had a full breakfast this was also lukewarm & looked very unappetising. Cost £25 for this & 2 drinks, unfortunately we won’t return.

I've never felt compelled to write a silly self proclaimed critic review, until now that is. I like going out for coffee when i can, its a nice little treat once in a while and this is the best place locally in which to do that. I like the community feel of the place and the girls that work there seem to know most of the customers that go in and i think that's great, i love the little chat and i feel welcome each and every time i visit. keep up the good work and i'll be back for my espresso and quiche again soon and maybe pick up a great read whilst i'm there. Well done guys.

I used to love it here. Haven’t been for a little while, and I definitely won’t be returning. Got an egg mayo sandwich and my daughter got a cheese and ham toastie. She hates fat on meat and there was a really big bit on the ham. I tried cutting it off but it was really tough, and she wouldn’t have eaten the rest as it had put her off. I tried to get the waitresses attention as they were busy chatting behind the counter. Got their attention the second time and one of the girls came over. Explained that my daughter hates fatty meat, showed the girl the ham and asked if she could order something else, which she said was fine and my daughter ordered a tuna sandwich. A different waitress then came over and said she’d just spoken to the manager who had said we would have to pay for both the toastie and the sandwich. I was shocked at this,I’ve never known anywhere expect payment for an abysmal meal!!! I said no I’ll just be paying for the sandwich thanks. She went back to the kitchen, then came out again and said the manager would do the sandwich but it won’t be coming with any crisps or anything on the side, and next time we visit we should say we don’t want fat on the ham???!!!!!!!!! I would always assume tough fat would be removed anyway?!! I said there wouldn’t be a next time!!!! When she bought the sandwich out it had clearly been thrown together and we got a very rude ‘there ya go’ There was absolutely no apology whatsoever throughout. After that the staff just made us feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. When I went to pay,and they’re very lucky I hadn’t just walked out, there was no politeness,no courtesy just ‘that’s £20.75 then’. I asked the rude waitress her name, not sure but it was either Ami or Emily… Disgusting service, will NEVER return and I will tell as many people as possible to go somewhere else. If I could give this zero stars I would.

Food very basic and watch when ordering as loads of items are extra cost to what you think and they always have new staff who don’t explain. Fir example that the quiche is just which for £5 and salad or chips is extra by a lot so that could cost you £11 for quiche, salad and chips(not many at that). The chips are also double cooked and dark and greasy - they were on our visit anyway. The ‘cool’ kept leaving the cafe and when she returned, she never once washed her hands before starting to cook. The kitchen door is always open so you can see into it - they should close it for a few reasons. The staff weren’t particularly friendly and one man on another table asked for a smaller portion and was told that they could have one but that it’d be the same price! Lot of seniors eating so you’d have thought that they could accommodate people not having a full appetite. It used to be good but not so now as we’ve tried couple of times over last couple of months. Time to go elsewhere.

I waited five minutes during which time I had eaten a fair proportion of the meal and they still hadn't arrived so I cancelled them. My partner's vegetarian breakfast included overcooked mushrooms and baked beans that had obviously been heated more than once. My daughter did think that her side salad was dominated with lettuce and couldn't manage it all, but apart from that we had a lovely lunch. I ordered a breakfast tea (£1.25) and it came in a quaint little pot and I got 2 cups out of it. My daughter had a strawberry milkshake (£2.75) and enjoyed that too. My prawns clearly were taken from the feezer and defrosted in warm water, There was no taste to them and my sons baguette was dry. The two grandchildren aged 4 & 5 were served with new pots and not mash as stated on the menu and they wouldn't eat the pots. I think it should have been explained about regarding pots before ordering and the need for the prawn dishes to be improved. Otherwise a lovely git store but rather pricey.

I've eaten here on a couple of occasions as well as stopped for a coffee on occasion. The restaurant offers a wide range of options from 'elevenses with a cake' through 'light-bite', hot snacks to a range of meals as well a variety of hot and cold drink options.

A lovely book shop, well laid out. With the customer at heart, with great staff. The crowning glory is its super resturant. Service and food is good. Busy but don't feel rushed.

Been here a couple of times for breakfast on a Sunday and I am always happy. The food is always high standard and the ladies they have working there are always very nice and polite. You can also tell the produce they use is fresh!

Ever since it opened Bookmark has been a major asset for Spalding. To have a quality bookshop with space for comfy chairs in which to sit and read makes this very special. The restaurant is likewise a great place to grab a great choice coffee and homemade food. Together they stand out as a major destination in the town which would now be diminished without it.

I met my son for a lunchtime snack as it's his birthday on Saturday, we had a cooked breakfast which consisted of ! slice of bacon that was like cardboard, 1 sausage, an egg, a fresh tomato barely cooked and a few beans, the cost for 2=£11.90 we then had 2 drinks with it, then we had a cake each & another drink each the total cost £27.80 so rather over-priced me thinks

Visited last week at lunch time. I waited for about 15 minutes to be served but was ignored, even when I gathered my things and left. The service has been terrible every single time I have visited previously, so shall not be going again. Two waitresses - one giggling girl and one sour woman - obviously need a major training programme.

This tin-roofed venue has an unpleasant, dark and dinghy interior. The book sections, particularly the childrens, are poorly stocked and the impression is that the current owners would rather stock bric-a-brac and novelty items. The reatuarant, or rather, the 'eating area' has all the ambience of a greasy spoon truck stop complete with poor service and overpriced food. I would advise giving this venue a miss. It urgently needs a makeover to halt decline.

Recommended to go to the Bookmark by assistants in another local shop, we popped in and came away with several good books and a magnifying glass. As the pumpkin parade was just about to start, we didn't have an opportunity to try the coffee shop on this occasion but we have a look at the impressive menu and decided it won't be long before we return. The genial and helpful lady on the till in the book section late last Thursday afternoon was a perfect example of how to serve customers.

Been here numerous times with the family, perfect for afternoon lunch/tea. Friendly, attentive staff. Serve number of different paninis, jacket potatoes and fresh sandwiches. The cake section is always full of puddings to choose from. Relaxed comfortable setting in the book shop. Will be returning! Thank You

Lovely place to have a bite to eat. We had a snack at lunchtime which was, as usual, lovely. I had Quiche and salad and my husband had a baguette. We just love going there. Lovely atmosphere, food is fantastic. Lovely staff. Wheelchair friendly which is great when we take our elderly friend. There are papers & magazines to read and it has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. You can get cake and coffee or a meal at lunchtime. The cafe is not open in the evening. Highly recommend!

Popped in here and was not disappointed. A great bookshop with a fantastic selection, helpful staff, and wonderful decor. Didn't go into the cafe, as we'd just had lunch, but it was quite busy and the food looked very appetising. Would love to try it out on our next visit to Spalding.

This bookshop with it's wonderful tea shop are an asset to a market town which needs more places like this. Stepping into the shop is an experience in itself as it's like stepping into Victorian reading rooms it looks relaxing as soon as you walk in with a lovely area for children to develop their love of reading. The tea rooms are something else they are nothing too posh but are very relaxing and fit in with the rest of the shop. I last visited with my mum and although we only had a jacket potato and panini they were both tasty and well presented, the menu is fairly extensive and the cooked meals looked lovely. The homemade cakes looked beautiful and the pieces looked huge! Service was attentive and with a smile which was really nice these days and the lady although she rushed our order a bit was very friendly and professional. What is great about The Bookmark is that they have authors and celebrities to speak in the evening and one of the most entertaining evenings I spent here was an evening with Rev Richard Coles which was brilliant.

We have been visiting The Ship at Long Sutton in South Holland for a number of years but I am compelled to put pen to paper to highlight this pub as a place to go. I would say that recently a new breath is sweeping through this establishment and with a very willing staff, super home cooking and a lovely menu. This week The Ship became the venue for a luncheon club my wife and I belong to. On a recommendation from us a group of 17 members of our club descended on the pub and we were met by Charlie who was directing operations along with her family, Great food, good prices, excellent service and approbation all round from our members. Well done to everyone at The Ship, you are definitely in our sights as the place to go to.
