Called in for a quick snack. Clean restaurant with friendly staff. We ordered coffee, which was very nice . However, the Bacon and Egg sandwich was very poor. The Bacon was clearly of a cheaper quality and was very tough and hard to consume. I did not complain, i did not feel it was correct to voice my opinion whilst other people were in earshot.

Today went to my favourite place for lunch. I had a jacket potato with Mediterranean roast vegetables with a side salad and my husband the sticky chicken with dirty fries and a pot of tea for two. The food was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The food is always freshly made. The staff work really hard clearing tables as soon as they become vacant. The loyalty card is worth getting. Definitely recommend. Great value for money.

A great place I always go with my friend when I come to visit her. The staff are amazing with her as she is in a wheelchair. They have a ramp so she can sit inside if the weather is bad and sit outside if its not. There is a amazing selection of food and drinks to choose from. Masters of chocolate their chocolate shop is amazing something for any occasion or just a treat. Definitely recommend this place as the best in scarborough.

Excellent cafe serving coffee, cake, light meals and full meals in the town centre of Scarborough just minutes from the park and ride bus stop and the Royal Hotel. This is an historic business starting in the nineteenth century by a Swiss chocolate maker and in the hands of a local family since 1959. Very good coffee and drinks large menu of snacks, light bites and full meals. This is also a high class chocolate shop and these delights are available to buy separately or with your meals with a meal and chocolate deal. Friendly professional staff with counter service and table service for orders. Would visit again when in the area.

Bonnets is a lovely old-fashioned face and tea room. It served very good quality cakes, sandwiches, breakfasts etc. The coffee is excellent. Avocado on toast is delicious but for me, the signature dish has to be creamed mushrooms on toast. It’s a taste sensation that has to done! And don’t forget the fantastic artisan chocolates too. We have been to Scarborough many times but never eaten here. Recommended by friends we went in for lunch and loved the relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The menu is good but not overly extensive and there are a good range of specials on the board. Ordering from the counter, staff were friendly and efficient and the food came out promptly but not too quickly. The loaded fries are amazing and certainly need to be an option for anyone visiting. Unfortunately they have been demolished tonight and can't wait to visit Scarborough again for our next fix. Excellent food but hostile service! We regularly visit this place for the food, however the main lady who is behind the counter needs to polish up her customer liaison skills. We followed all the Covid rules (wearing masks and using correct doors) but when we opened the door to get someone to acknowledge our presence (there was no one at the door) we got barked at to stay outside until they were ready. There really was no need for that, it could of easily been explained that they were preparing tables. If they didn’t serve such good food we would of left there and then. It didn’t stop there. When we were seated a poor old lady came in the front door (she needed to go around the back) and walked up to the counter the waitress shouted at her in front of the whole restaurant saying she had to go around the correct way and to retrace her steps. All she wanted to know was whether there was a table available upstairs! There was really no need to be so abrupt with either us or other customers even if they were unsure of the rules.

Really disappointing lunch experience - unlikely to go back.We ate upstairs as it was quite busy downstairs. Waitress came and took our order: minute steak baguette and a chilli chicken baguette, a pot of tea and a beer. She asked twice whether we wanted white or brown bread (brown). The drinks came and without asking who ordered what, our drinks were served the wrong way round. She left and we swapped. Then exactly the same thing happened with our food. We started eating - I thought my partner's food looked different to the menu description but that sometimes happens. After a couple of bites we tried each others. My partner had actually been given a thai salmon baguette (him: I thought it tasted odd!) and at that point I realised that both our baguettes were white. So, we'd probably be given someone else's order but there were no waitresses to ask and we were in a hurry. We decided to say something the moment someone appeared. After we'd finished, a waitress came up and my partner heard her desperately apologising to the table behind us. We'd obviously been given their order. When she came to us, we expressed our disappointment that we hadn't got what we wanted. Her response: "Well, you've eaten it but don't worry, it's the same price". No apology, no understanding that we needed to get somewhere else quickly. Could easily have been avoided if staff had been trained to announce the dishes they were serving, especially if they don't know who's ordered what. A courtesy knocking the tea off the bill would have been enough but there wasn't even a mention of it when we paid. So although the food was ok, the customer service was in my opinion, pretty poor.

My colleagues and I booked an early afternoon tea. The price quoted was £6.00 per person, when we paid we were actually charged £9.00. It was the most miserable surroundings, dark and dingy. We were served pots of tea, and after a considerable wait the choice of food was pathetic and our tea was cold, and we were charged extra for two more pots of tea! We would certainly NOT recommend Bonnet and Sons to anyone. With the amount of competition there is in Scarborough you need to re address your attitude!

Visited last Sunday after running the Yorkshire Coast 10k so we were very hungry! There were no obvious gluten free options on the menu (admittedly I didn't ask if they had a gf menu) so I ordered an omelette. The waitress couldn't tell me what fillings were available so I played it safe with cheese and ham although I'm sure something more interesting could have been offered. My husband ordered a herby chicken baguette and curly fries. The food arrived quickly but was placed on the table without a word and no offer of salt, vinegar, sauces etc. which I had to go and retrieve from an empty table (also saw other customers doing the same). Fortunately our meals were really nice and substantial portion sizes. There was a LOT of ham and cheese in the omelette, possibly a little too much. The fries were fresh hot and crispy. My husband's baguette had plenty of filling and curly fries were fresh and hot. The accompanying side salads were also crisp and fresh and a bit more interesting than you often get. Generally it was a positive dining experience, nice food and surroundings but the service could have been better.

As a resident I should know better, restaurants/cafes like Bonnets do not have to try very hard as they rely on tourist trade and not repeat business.I had lunch from their specials board - quiche side salad and chips.None of it looked appetising, the quiche was not fresh, the chips were greasy and flacid and the salad was a small bowl of iceberg lettuce and a tomatoe.I see from other reviews they are having bad press, quiet understandable from my experience.

Called for a quick coffee and snack while in Scarborough. On the surface it looks okay, but a visit to the dreadful toilets puts you right off, they are a disgrace, and should be enough to put most people off returning. While waiting to be served my wife watched them weighing out chocolate in to bags, the till said 100g = £4.85, but the staff were carefully weighing out only 90 grams in to the bags - (Trading standards??) They were also handling the chocolate, with no tongs and no hygienic gloves. The staff looked disinterested, and slightly scruffy, we won't and you shouldn't call without a major clean up, and the those "Outside" toilets sorted.

A lot of people have been recommending I come here and i really can't see why. Staff are miserable and the place has a downtrodden feel about it. I've found more upbeat people on my visits to Addis Ababa. The tarts behind the counter (as in the cakes) were good but main meals are nothing special. Something needs to be done about the drab interior and new staff should be brought in. The Manager clearly didn't want to be there and neither would most of the customers by the looks of it. The food is really good with large amounts and too good to leave any so be prepared to leave very full! There is also some tempting chocolates on the way out and it's would be rude not to buy several. Highly recommend Bonetts we will definately be back.

Always a good meal. Staff pleasant. Sometimes a little too crowded as the tables are a little close but overall good value for money and the hand made Chocolates are good too!

Well situated in the centre of town. Clean and appealing. Quite busy. Order and pay at the counter, food is served at the table. Food is not served after 16.00. but drinks are. I enjoyed soup, sandwiches, cake and beverages. My sister enjoyed salmon and broccoli fish cakes, chips and salad. We shared a piece of treacle tart. Very pleasant, friendly staff, a young lady and one a bit older. Tempting chocolates on sale! Pleasant courtyard outside which is dog friendly.

Saw this cafe by accident, down a side street. My friend and I decided to have lunch here. Both had steak pie. Best I've had in a cafe. Served on a large plate including veg and gravy, plate was hot so kept meal hot throughout. Excellent service by friendly staff. Nice and clean and a nice ambience. Would definitely be going again next time in Scarborough and will be recommending to friends and family.

Bonnet's looked appealing for a coffee break so we went in. It was busy but had a couple of free tables. The service was efficient and we had good coffees and a delicious almond tart. This place seems popular with the senior customer.

This is a great little cafe. The choice of meals looked very good, we saw them being delivered to customers and they looked great. Unfortunately we had only called in for a drink but we were tempted by the cakes. We shared a slice of chocolate tiffin which was delicious and had a Coke and a 7Up, it came to £6.70.

We visited Bonnet & Sons for a coffee, I ordered an americano coffee and cappuccino for my wife. I was given two Americano's but not the cappuccino, I pointed out the mistake. She then served me a cold cappuccino. When I pointed this out a waitress put her finger in the coffee and agreed it was cold. At this point we had had enough took a refund and left.

The Food and drinks at Bonnet's are lovely. Enjoy a very tasty meal, or snack on their beautiful scones/cakes. We spoil ourselves, with cream and jam on the wholmeal scones..delicious. Coffee or tea, of which they have a good .selection. Try their gorgeous chooclates on the way out. You can't miss their selection of fine chocs.. And they are delicious.

We initially dropped in for just a coffee, but when we saw the fruit scones we just couldn't resist! They were delicious, and when we looked at the food on the plates of the others in this restaurant that looked scrumptious too! We were only in Scarborough for a few days but called in here many times. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Been here a few times & it’s always been lovely. The staff are fabulous & always go above & beyond. The afternoon tea is lovely with sandwiches ( you choose) , coleslaw, salad, numerous cakes, scones with jam & cream and of course your pot of tea. It costs £15 for 2 people. It’s clean & friendly, you can also sit outside in the courtyard. So dog owners are accommodated also. The lady behind the counter is so welcoming (I think she’s the manager), she really cannot do enough for you, and her team are very efficient & kind.

We called into Bonnetts for lunch on a miserable day in Scarborough. As always the food is excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed my baked potato. Pat enjoyed her lunch too. Service was friendly and the prices are reasonable. the only downside is the decor, think it is time for a refresh. Worth a visit.

Couldn't fault the quantity cost or quality. Ordered from the vegan menu chips curry sauce and pea fritter. Only problem was the food wasn't piping hot surprising since it was cooked to order in a deep fat fryer.

My son has a dairy allergy and often has to settle for sorbet when at an ice cream parlour. Truly Scrumptious gave him an amazing choice of dairy free ice creams and toppings. We wouldn’t normally have 3 ice creams in 3 days but he was just so excited that he had choices, how could we not??!!

Food was ok. Price was a little steep. Service was nothing to write home about. BUT what was really annoying, after paying by card and leaving, was being chased down on a busy pavement by a member of staff saying the payment didn't go through - tried again and again, then another card and the another card with the staff member carrying the payment machine saying all declined when none of them should have failed ! Because golden grid has been established for such a long time you'd have thought they would have sorted this problem out but apparently not ! it's not like it would cost them much to get better devices with better reception but no they can't be bothered. SO be prepared to be chased down and embarrassed.

We had a lovely lunch with family today, enjoying the view from above and the sunshine. However, when my food was being served, the sizzling from the oil in it landed on my husband's coat. When we asked for the bill, I explained the situation to the lady, who by the way was the person who served us the food, and she barely apologized. I would expect a better handling of the situation...
