Dont bother going, woman who served us so miserable, when I asked if we were in time.for breakfast, we got a sharp YES, atmosphere unwelcome, log burner throwing so much smoke off it's a health hazard, cheap sausages, cheap beans, frothy poached eggs, worst place we have ever been to, couldnt wait to leave. Advice to owner, close down asap.

Absolutely disgusting service! Owners attitude is appalling! Rolling eyes and looking at her watch. Felt like a nuisance! So much so I didn’t order what I wanted and should have just walked out! We most certainly will NEVER visit again. Everything is microwaved. Chips, sausage rolls. The scones are old and dry! We are local to here too! But I definitely wouldn’t recommend!

Tried this spot for breakfast won't ever go back! Will always go to Wykeham lakes cafe from a far superior and better tasting breakfast. For a small local village tearooms to not serve fresh and local produce where there is abundance is disgusting. Sausages were like Richmond supermarket churned dog food specials. Eggs were most definitely not fresh as the poached egg I ordered came with the whites like a foamy sponge. Avoid at all costs you will not enjoy your experience.

First impressions were good cosy clean etc…staff needed more experience I ordered soup with gluten free bread, food came and was told the soup wasn’t gluten free only the bread !! So I said I couldn’t have the soup and could they make me a sandwich with the already cut bread, which they did,and it was nice, but I should of been told the vegetable soup wasn’t gluten free when ordering,it could of made me very poorly. As it got closer to 2.30pm I felt we were being glared it,constantly watched like it was “time to leave” even though it stated 4pm as closing time.

So so poor... popped in today for coffee with friends. The log burner was a nice touch but the place was freezing. Ordered latte which was cold. Thought we would try the hot chocolate..refused to serve us at 3.10 because they close at 3.30.... Popped to the toilet which was locked music off and they sat waiting for us to leave ... rude and unprofessional won't ever return

Opened the door to be met by an abrupt and unfriendly waitress/ manager with short black hair. It made us made us want to turn around and spoilt the whole experience. We had the same experience a few months earlier but decided to give it another try! We are not locals and definitely will not return to this little spot!

We’ve visited a few times but each time we say we won’t go back, then as we’re passing and it’s handy we decide to give it another chance. I think it’s had enough chances now! We pulled up outside at 2.15pm and there was a waitress outside bringing a sign in so we asked if they were still open, yes was the answer so in we went. We were shown to our table by a really friendly lady so all was good. A couple of minutes later a lady with short dark hair came to take our order, at this point all sign of a smile had disappeared. I started my order to be met with a big sigh, a big tut and she disappeared to look at the clock, came back sighing saying “just in time”, as it was 2.20pm I presume last orders is 2.30pm. If they don’t want to still be serving food at 2.20pm maybe they should change orders to 2pm? If you’ve nipped out for lunch it’s just not the sort of service you want, it was like she just didn’t want customers at all. We’re local but this has happened too many times now and we won’t be back until they get some staff in that actually like customers.

We called in late morning on our way to Scarborough. We’d stopped to buy bread etc at the Bakery next door and decided to have something to eat before driving on. Positives - pleasant atmosphere and good coffee and tea. Negative- we ordered one sausage butty and one sausage and egg butty. Having eaten many a sausage butty in Yorkshire, we thought we knew what to expect, but….. These were the smallest butties ever. A very small ‘picnic’ roll with 2 pink finger-sized sausages cut in half. The bread bun wasn’t big enough to fit them in. Add an egg and it was impossible to close the bun. It was disappointing to be served what I assume were Richmonds supermarket sausages when there are some excellent proper butchers in the vicinity. I’m sure they would be happy to supply their sausages and get a name on the menu. I’m afraid, having paid a fiver for such aa small offering, we won’t be hurrying back, which is a pity as we like to support small, local cafes.

Waiter gets the one star as he was pleasant. However, less than a handful of oven baked limp chips costing £3.50 and a piece of dry lime cake. High prices for low quality food.

Pleasant tearoom and we found the staff friendly enough, but we were very disappointed in our bacon butties which were a couple of pieces of bacon in a half sized bap. Definitely overpriced at £5 when other places do a bacon bap plus coffee for less than this. Sadly we will not be visiting again.

Used to arrange to meet a pal here twice/three times a week but went three times to find it closed or just open for private functions, no mention on their FB page! Food is good, place should be convenient but there is obviously a tremendous lack of understanding the hospitality industry. We put up with miserable staff at times because it was convenient with good food. When it became a gamble as to, will it be open, it becomes inconvenient and there are much better places locally which are convenient. If you’re passing and it’s open it will be ok but don’t arrange to go there, you could be disappointed.

We called recently for coffee and cake which was very nice. Cold outside but warm inside. By the time we left the place was pretty full. We will be back for lunch next time.

Like the last review, I also don't like giving negative reviews but this is a cafe we call at fairly regularly and we repeatedly come across the same problem; a waitress/manageress who can't smile and appears not to want to be there. Giving the benefit of the doubt we continued to visit but nothing has changed. Do they actually want our custom? Shame, as it's a good place potentially and the previous owners made you feel more welcome. The young girls waiting on today were pleasant enough but the lady in charge isn't. Not sure I want to bother returning now. We spend quite a lot of money in cafes too, so their loss. The cafe wasn't too stretched today but was I was "told off" for not booking for more than 4 people! Didn't even know you had to book for over 4 in a party. Is she a stresshead who can't cope? I even deliberately staggered our orders and we weren't demanding quick service.

I don’t like giving negative reviews but this tea room need to improve and get back to the standards they had . We booked a group of 12 from the walking group admittedly it was the same morning . When we arrived , apart from another couple we were the only customers . The order was taken from one table fairly quickly but the second table had to wait a little while . When three of the soups arrived they were Luke warm and we had to send them back to the kitchen . Eventually the second two soups arrived also not very warm but we’d had to wait that long we didn’t send them back . More customers arrived and our table was not cleared , we were waiting to order coffee and cake but gave up in the end . All through our visit the waitress was miserable and we did NOT receive an apology . We have visited this tea room a few times over the year and recommended it to the group but we won’t be going back , it has certainly gone down hill . They have missed a chance to have 10 new customers but the quality of the food and the attitude of the staff will have scuppered that!

We discovered Bolli's by accident driving along the A170. Lovely tearoom, excellent food, recommend the Yorkshire pastie or quiche with salad, and staff were so nice. Perfect for a cuppa, cake or a quick bite! Will visit again for sure.

This has got to be the worst room I have ever stayed in. Dirty floors, dead spider behind bathroom door, wallpaper peeling off, cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, mould in the shower. This place is not just basic it's filthy. Don't waste your money.

Terrible experience. Horrible atmosphere as soon as we walked in. The guy working there had an attitude problem, shouting at the young female waitress and telling the whole cafe that it was her second day. Had an argument with two other customers as they'd been waiting a while for two cups of tea. Even the customer said that he is stressed and he didn't like that and began arguing. Getting all the orders wrong and blaming the young waitress. Stated he is not taking anymore orders even though I'd been sat on the table and my mum ordered just before me. I had to tell him we were together. Such an uncomfortable atmosphere. How he works in hospitality/customer service is beyond me. Clearly the wrong industry. The poor staff, clearly not a very good trainer, but not his fault. AVOID as you'll only be left disappointed and leaving with a headache.

Really disappointed with our meal, I ordered a soup and was shocked, to say the least, about the portion size , literally half a bowl and when I asked the waiter if it was a mistake he replied that it was head office that control the portion size!!!! Shocking , considering I was charged £6.50 for literally 5 spoonfuls. Prices have risen so much in the last year, ridiculous! Unfortunately the pub lacks atmosphere and we won’t be back! Such a shame as we The Bay but there is a need for a decent pub whose sole purpose is not to rip you off!

We called and booked afternoon tea for 4 people last night to have today at 2pm. I asked for a quiet area to sit as my mother is part way through chemo. We also asked for no fishy sandwiches. We arrived slightly early but I advised reception that we were here for afternoon tea, they didn’t seem to know anything about it but we were told to wait in the lounge which was no problem, we could not buy a drink as the bar wasn’t open, so we sat and waited, the manager came and said they were just preparing it and would come and fetch us when it was ready. We waited and waited and at 2.20 my father chased it up it was then brought to us in the lounge area around 2.30 and served on a coffee table with no room for it and with salmon sandwiches. I then advised that we didn’t like the salmon sandwiches so the waiter took away the whole afternoon tea and we had to wait another 15 or so minutes to come back. It’s was absolutely disgusting, apparently the scones were freshly baked and warm when in actual fact they were rock hard and stone cold and stale and looked straight out of a packet, there was barely enough cream to spread a very thin layer on some was that hard they were inedible. The white sandwiches were stale, they egg mayonnaise sandwiches were slimy and the small cakes were still frozen. I’m quite sure they forgot we were coming and threw whatever they could together. I don’t mean to be rude or nasty but the gentleman that served us was very unkept and had an awful odour. I informed reception when I paid the bill and can 100% confirm I will not be recommending or returning. This was a very disappointing as this was the first break and outing since my mother’s diagnosis, and was definitely the worse experience of afternoon tea I’ve ever encountered.
