Went for the first time, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and the food was absolutely fantastic. Certainly be going again.

Just hit the spot after a busy week-Excellent food, service & atmosphere. Exactly what you need from your local village pub. Dan & his Team are a credit to the village. I tried the braised rump steak for the 1st time & can thoroughly recommend if you’re looking for a comfort dish with a fresh veg hit. Fish and chips were ordered by the rest & once again hit the spot- although the home cut chips were more like wedges. Our two elderly JR’s shared an unseasoned chicken breast ( yes they’re spoilt) cut up small by the chef & clean bowls all round. If you’re looking for good honest food in scrupulously clean surroundings with welcoming staff…The Blue Bell is the place to go

We enjoyed a delicious, leisurely lunch today. As ever, the welcome was warm, the pub spotlessly clean, staff very friendly, and the service excellent. The light lunch “small” cod and chips, and classic fish and chips, were cooked to perfection. Neither of us could resist the special dessert of the week, a Black Forest Gateaux pot. It did not disappoint, and was a beautiful, decadent end to our meal. We are so fortunate have such an excellent pub within walking distance. Thank you Dan and team. All your hard work is very much appreciated.

Fabulous Sunday Dinner for us humans (as always) but the The Blue Bell Ranskill also caters for our 4 legged pooches…free snacks & water but you can also pay for their Sunday Dinner too …clean bowls from Fred n Alf 😊😊😊

Absolutely the best fish & chips we’ve ever had, huge portion & piping hot, staff were attentive & nothing was too much trouble

Well we try places all around the globe and here is my honest opinion, I had the mixed grill, the steak was only small but Nicky cooked, the small piece of chicken was cooked ok, the gammon was very salty and very tough, the sausage was nice, mushrooms were ok & the onion rings but the chips tasted not like chips but like burnt cooking oil, so over all average, my wife had chicken in a wine sauce, again she said it was ok but nothing special, she said the salad was nice and fresh but again the chips were horrible, also we just had a line and soda water and at most places we get charged 90p for a pint, in here it was £2 a pint for a dash of lime, anyway the service was very assertive & the place it’s self was very clean and spacious

Third Dec/Jan visit ( this time with the in-laws and Teddy the dog) from Nottingham - worth hour drive ! Wonderful tasteful Christmas Decorations .Enjoyed home made food - generous portions - good customer serivce- plus bonus excellent singer ! Merry Christmas and Thank you 😀

This pub has changed dramatically since I first went, although that was many years ago. Has really nice decor, warm and inviting. We were visiting a family member for fox days and decided to treat ourselves to a meal out. The food was delicious, we all ordered different things plus some extra side dishes, every thing come out piping hot and at same time, wonderful

Visited a few times and always been good,but had to write a review about latest visit,my partner had the steak pie on a special,and can honestly say best pie we have both ever had( I had to try it) proper homemade chips,pastry amazing,and just the flakeiest meat absolutely bulging out the pie,and great value. I had lamb and hollumi burger,amazing again. Service excellent,nice range of beers,and a place not to big so it cares and wants you back. If you want proper food made to order,not ping food at a great price you won't be disappointed.

After having a brain tumour my husband can no longer taste or smell but still likes to take me out for a meal. He likes the textures of different foods. Today he had the Nottinghamshire pie he loved it, said it’s the best one he’s ever had. It looked delicious. A lot of tender steak, Stilton and crumble topping with gravy. I had the salmon it too was tasty. Always friendly here with good service and good food.

Booked here for my dad’s 80th birthday Sunday lunch for 9 of us as our usual restaurant wasn’t serving food that day. We were thrilled with our choice as from start to finish it was a great experience. I booked via messenger and they replied very quickly with our booking confirmation. All staff really friendly and attentive and ever so helpful. They knew when we needed more drinks etc. The food was absolutely beautiful and definitely one of the best Sunday lunches we have had! We are now looking to book here for our family Christmas meal get together in December. We will 100% be returning and soon!! Thank you all!

The meal, chef’s curry of the week, I couldn’t eat. It was full of burnt onion and tasted it. On the good side they didn’t charge me for it. But I had gone in to eat and couldn’t.

Had a very pleasant evening with friends to celebrate my birthday, always a good meal with pleasant staff and a good atmosphere, lovely village pub, also allows dog at the far end of the bar, to me a bonus for a village pub.

Met up with friends and suggested this place and definitely did not disappoint. Had a mix of the normal menu and the specials menu and it was faultless. Staff so attentive and nothing was too much trouble, even the manager (tall, slim man) was on the floor because of how busy it was. Can’t wait to come back again!

We took the family for Sunday lunch and what a lovely meal in lovely surroundings, the food was excellent the service was excellent the staff are amazing just couldn't be better, the place really is a little gem.

Four of us visited on a Thursday night. We were pleasantly surprised how busy it was. It was our first visit and the atmosphere and decor is very welcoming. Thursday night is steak night, 2 x 8oz steaks plus bottle of wine for £35. After much deliberation two of us had the steak with the other choices being sweet chilli chicken and chicken with blue cheese. All four dishes were really well presented and the flavours matched how they looked. The steaks were very tender and well cooked, as were both the chicken dishes. This was our first visit but it won’t be our last.

We are regular visitors of this amazing place. Food is homemade . And the best place for a Sunday roast. We go out a lot for Sunday dinner and this one is our favourite of all of the places. Staff are very friendly and personable too. 100% Recommended

Decided on impulse to have a drive out to this lovely village pub, the meal was absolutely delicious, the staff were amazing and to top it all we were made to feel at ease by the level of social distancing measures that were put in place , would highly recommend this 5 star establishment and we will definately be coming back again, in fact just booked a table for saturday for their brilliant new specials board

Came here today after recommendation, booked a table at the Sun Inn this afternoon which was highly overpriced and lacking customer service. After feeling peckish after our squireel scraps which came to a mortgage amount of £7.50 per starter, we headed to the Bluebell feeling hungrier than before we had even eaten! we we welcomed with a highly warm greeting by the Landlord, we were sat down following COVID 19 regulations. Menu was given to us promptly as was the rest of the order. We both ordered a roast (the same price as our starter at the sun inn!) when food arrived it became apparent it was home cooked & massive portions, I must add the stuffing was the best I’ve ever had, really good and again great generous portion! Will be back next week!

Popped in Friday evening for a drink after work, after hearing the pub had reopened! Can highly recommend! Great service, great atmosphere with a warm welcome. Will be coming back to try out the menu!!!!!

Went today for Sunday lunch with my mum.We both had pork and it was tasty. Some places you go to you get frozen roast potatoes and stuffing. Well not here , freshly cooked roasties and the stuffing was cooked properly , not like the stodgy stuff you get in some places. Very good portion size. The staff are just so friendly and acknowledge you as soon as you walk in. Just fantastic all round. This is the second time we have been and have booked again for next week. What a fantastic turn around this pub has had, thanks to the hard work of the new landlord, Dan. It had previously been quite run-down, and now has a fresh, clean look, but still in-keeping with the traditional country pub feel.Everyone is made welcome - friends, families and couples. The staff all work hard to ensure an excellent customer experience.Drinks are very reasonably priced, as is the food - which was well presented, plentiful, hot and tasty.We've now visited several times and are favouring this as our new local.Cheers to the Blue Bell at Ranskill - see you again very soon!

Absolutely loved this pub, a refreshing change from the norm. New young landlord very professional & welcoming looked after us so well nothing was too much trouble, the staff where amazing. There was plenty of drinks choices & the food was of a very high standard. The pub is tastefully decorated with plenty of room inside & out.I would totally recommend this village pub, whether you are with family or friends, give it a try you won't go far wrong. Went here for my dads 60th last night. We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff. The pub has had a facelift and looks amazing. The outside area and beer garden are lovely. The food was some of the nicest pub food we have ate in a long time and it was presented really well. The pub is also participating in the eat out to help out scheme. Cannot wait to eat here again!

We have just moved to the area and so we called in some 3 months before our move started to see what the pub was like, new people had been their only 3 days so we called in again this week,Well only 2 people in the large room and about 20 in the pool part, the pub is ROUGH, the LANGUAGE is disgusting loud agressive and the Service is non existent,"ent go no real ale just lagers mate" and every person weve asked so far all agree and I mean EVERY person said what a dump it is, and although its advertised for food ,THERE ISN'T ANY and I wouldn't even go in the place anyway, I am a retired landlord of many years and know quite a bit about running pubs.absolute Rubbish,
