Friendly staff and they do the best chips 😋

A group of us went here last week for cod and chips, the food was cooked to perfection. Next time I'm in Hastings I will definitely be returning.

I visit the area at least once a year. And always make a point of visiting this fish and chip place. It is by far the best chippy on the South Coast. Batter was thick and crispy. Quality and service was spot on. Keep up the good work 👏

The fish is perfect, nice crispy batter, chips are tasty and well cooked, my family have always mentioned this shop from back in the day when we come down from london, this is always our fav, now we bring our kids there too, its one of the original chip shops in hastings.

The fish is okay itself, however, the batter taste soapy, And the chips were too oily more grease than actual chips.

Wonderful fish n chips, great service provided by a helpful and friendly team. Portion size and presentation great. Fish n chip shop offers dine in as well as take away, located in the heart of the Old Town of Hastings. Well worth a visit for this very well cooked British favourite. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️'s all the way.

These boys are magic..charm personified..one of them donated a cup of his Italian coffee to me to go with my sausage and chips AND did not charge me for coffee..Their mums have done a good job in bringing these boys up. The chips are the best,the staffcarexthe best.. what's not to like ? Try it.

Located in Old Town Hastings, it is probably the best tasting fish and chips in the area. The batter is just right to my taste and the fish deliciously cooked, and the chips are not so greasy. Food portions are good. The staff are friendly and kind. The price is just about right. Whenever I crave for fish and chips, Blue Dolphin always come to my mind. Highly recommended.

One of the best fish and chips takeaway. Hard to beat their freshly cooked, hot n crispy fish and chips...tried Cod in chips, and haddock and chips on numerous occasions each had great flavours with hardly any signs of oil.

I took residents here this week on a day trip from the East side of Kent, after one of the residents asked to go because he used to visit this chip shop once a month in earlier years. He was completely right about the food here. The fish was lovely and the batter was perfect, even the chips were good and I don't normally rate chippy chips much. There were two staff working and they couldn't of been more helpful. It was a long way to go for fish and chips but the meal and revisiting someone's memories was worth it. We sat on the outside seating as it was one of the last days of sun we had this week and the staff brought our food & drinks out to us, great service. Beware of the seagulls though, once you leave a route open to the plates they are in without hesitation, almost a Hitchcock's The Birds moment. Bravo to the Blue Dolphin! 👏 🐬

Unhygienic and bad service. Young stuff don't give a - about customers. The guy served us was rude, made us wait for more than 40min but not sorry at all. Oily and overcooked food this time, different portion every time you go back. Not going back here again.

I was told 20 minute wait on food, but it took over an hour. When I came in to check on the order after 30 minutes and staff were not at all apologetic. They told me 4 minutes more.. it took another 40 minutes. Food was average at best when I eventually received it

Stopped by for fish and chips at the recommendation of a friend for takeaway. It didn't look the cleanest but the guy we spoke to was really nice and helpful, even gave me a bit of scampi to try when I wasn't quite sure. My friends said they'd share a fish between them and he actually gave them 2 separate bits and threw in free ketchups and tartare sachets. He did really want cash but we didn't have any and so did take card. Prices seemed very reasonable and we sat on the tables over the road looking over the beach which was awesome. Def the best chips I've had in a very long time and you do get a lot.

Went for food here on Tuesday was absolutely stunning so we decided to go again today after being on the beach all day. Omg what a difference. A older woman with her long hair all over the place. A guy with a dreadful attitude slung the menu at us. The place was covered in dirty crockery on all tables. I'd sack everyone of those staff there tonight and put Tuesday staff back on. We actually walked out without ordering

Been going here for years when we go to Hastings, food has always been great, sadly today the chips were overcooked quite a lot of them inedible, would not go back as I'm not buying chips to fed the seagulls Q

Had fish n chips for lunch here today. Quality of the food was certainly up there. Fish was freshly cooked to perfection. Lovely flaky haddock. Cooking and serving staff were also very pleasant and made sure we were looked after. Only downside was the place could have been a bit cleaner, especially the floor in the restaurant part. Kids in there seemed to throw half their meals on the floor. Staff member did try to keep on top of cleaning but really needed some help. Would definitely go back for the quality of the food, and perhaps re. the cleaning we just caught them on a bad day.

Went here as we used to go as a family years ago. However never again! The place was unclean and staff just didn’t seem bothered and covered in dirt too! The chip fryer was filthy when I looked on paying and they were cleaning it with a greasy chip wrapping paper 🤦‍♀️ on further investigation I found they have received a 0 star food hygiene rating last month which I personally think is disgusting and they should shut until it’s sorted. Will not return!

This was once the best spot in Hastings for fish and chips, HOWEVER, went in here today and the smell inside was atrocious!! smelt like rotting fish or worse it looked extremely unsanitary which would make sense considering the food hygiene rating is a 0 (rated June 2023) which sadly i found out only after I ate from here, the chips were soggy and had a horrible aftertaste which I don’t know how to explain but definitely wasn’t pleasant, made me feel sick after only having a few. Please don’t go here the amount of chip shops around go to another. Sad.

No pictures because we devoured it in minutes! Food here is always lovely and warm. I think they did give us extra chips because one large portion fed 4 of us. I'd recommend their fish and chips to anyone who visits Hastings 💜

This used to be the best fish and chip shop in Hastings. I'm gobsmacked the food has seriously gone down hill. The fish tastes funny and the chips were not cooked properly.

Good food. Was told card machine was working, however when went to pay told cash only. Son paid for me was not given change. Would have left a tip but not happy that it was assumed we were going to give a large tip.

Very nice fish and chips. It seems to have improved from the last time I came. It is definitely a lot cleaner and is a lot more welcoming than it was. My family and I are very happy to come again.

Wow, this fish bar has massively gone down hill, it use to be the place to go in Hastings, not anymore. They first said cash only, then the next customer paid on card ( little bit of money in the pocket for the staff ) it took nearly 20 minutes to get sausage and chips, it was ok but not great. The staff aren’t interested in customer service and they all stunk of weed, what a shame, it really was the place to go once upon a time. Avoid

Every year we take the kids to Hastings for a short break and this fish bar was recommended to us years ago. We have loved the fish and chips from this restaurant every time, however our recent trip there really let us down. I'm not sure if they are still using ground nut oil, but the chips were dry and tasteless. This is a real shame because this used to be our favorite fish and chip shop in the country. We will probably give it one more attempt next year to see if they can redeem themselves.

DISAPPOINTING FOODS and services, chips was under cooked and cold. This establishment used to be the best , Not any more . Still cash only , don’t accept card in the DN AGE. SERVER DID NOT EVEN APOLOGISE WE RETURN THE CHIPS STILL COME BACK UNCOOK . Do not recommend to anyone at all.

The place is filthy… the people serving look grubby. One girl cleaning the floor and then touching food. Gone right down hill from its heyday. Chips had been in the fryer half a dozen times and the fish small . Funny no change in the till and the man serving went out to get change and low and behold came back and and forgot to give it to us. No surprise there then. Won’t be going again …. Pass it on as they say 👎🏾

I was the only person in the shop front . I order my food he takes the cash . Then cooks and serves about 12 other people.. I got a small piece of cod and a very small tail end as a large cod . Small portions and bad customer service .. poor !

We ordered a large chips, medium cod and a pickled gherkin. The chips were served quite quickly but the cod was tiny (about 3 inches long) and cost £6.10. Then the woman at the counter tried to give us a gherkin from a can that had a pool of bacteria growing over the top of it. They tried to say that it happens when salt gets in the can but I told them I'm a pharmacy student and that doesn't make sense, they struggled to open a new can and in that time my food got cold. The woman then put the dirty tongs covered in bacteria into the fresh can...

100% better than the previous visit. Great friendly staff,great prices compared round the area. It's like when the owner, George & his dad, 30 plus years ago, I do believe it's the same family & George's sons now running it back again. The cooking oil you can tell has changed for the better. 10/10

I ate here 2 consecutive days last summer as I loved it. Unfortunately I ate in at the weekend and the lady who served me had a bad attitude. She brought me the wrong cans of drink,then I had to ask a slim polite lady for a glass as I had asked the other lady twice. Then the savoloy was cold. Food was very overpriced. Chairs were sticky. Will not be returning

5 5 2003 Went in restaurant part and was going to eat . We sat down and noticed how fithy the place was . Chairs were sticky the table cloths were rotten with holes in . The walls hadn't been cleaned in a long time . Floors not good . Didn't have the food we wanted so we walked out . The place needs a thorough deep clean it's a wipe your feet on the way out place .

Absolutely the best in every way.. We were not only made to feel welcome but our two small old dogs also with a sausage to keep them happy The food was delicious, possibly the best fish and chips on the South Coast. Best of all, it was such a delight to have such good old fashioned polite, friendly service from such a delightful, respectful young man, nothing was too much trouble for Zac. Such good customer service is a rarity these days I cannot praise high enough.

Customer service is foul, tables were ripped, asked for apple juice but got orange, no apology.

I ate here only once in the past, last October. Got a double large Cod meal, loved it! My second visit, recently on 31st March, I looked forward to a large single Cod meal. However, they didn't have any left, so they gave me 2 medium Cod instead, alas, I didn't enjoy it as much. But, overall, the large Cod is great, so I'll call there again when I next visit Hastings in a few months time...

If I could give zero stars I would . No haddock no huss no coke . Sat in to eat , table was cleared but not wiped (covid?)! Asked for 3 types of fish eventually settled on cod asked for 1 large & 1 normal chips when the food arrived both plates exactly same amount of chips. Asked waitress which was the large chips she replied I dunno (she couldn’t care) Ordered a tea , no spoon asked for a spoon had to wait 5 minutes for one. Partner had a soft drink , given different to what he’d ordered. My food was piping hot my partners stone cold! No bill so paid £21.20 in cash (don’t take cards) all in all very bad service I would never go again

Absolutely disgusted with the service and waiting times we have been going to blue dolphin every time we come to hasting 10years + now never again!! Never had a issue it’s a bit rough but food was always good, however this visit I have no idea what happened, we got seated ordered our drinks and then waited and waited after 40mins asked told us food was coming 10 mins later the same answer, anther tablet then asked what the wait was and they said everything half price, so we asked how long it would be again and explained we had been there a hour at this point! Then the lady that had been rude the time, we then got told our fish had be give to the takeaway part of the restaurant twice! Hence why keep waiting, we were going to pay for the drinks however they said the full price and we had order extra for waiting so long, so said I’m not having him paying for drinks and took my dads money off him and going to get my phone to then pay lady, shockingly said well just get out we don’t want your custom!! I am so annoyed, my dad and me were out as Easter a hard time for him since mum passed away and we always came to hasting and had blue dolphin with mum alway times that were happy, clearly this place is not what it used to be… avoid this place! We recently had the pleasure of stopping by the Dolphin Fish Bar in Hastings Old Town, where we were fortunate enough to meet Zach and his assistant. I was at this place on Monday around 4 p.m. the staff was nice but completely uninterested in making an order, I was informed that I had to wait 7 minutes. In fact, I waited 25 minutes for heated fatty fish from oil and reheated fries. She works in the catering industry and knows about how long does it take to make such fish and what mistakes were made? the guy who fried the fish assured me that everything was fresh. Unfortunately, at home it turned out that the fries were inedible and the fish coating was very greasy. I won't buy there again.

Our favourite take away, on this occasion we ate in. Bit grubby, with food on the floor, but the fish and chips were great as always.

Ordered cod and chips using the side service for takeaway, the food was really good. The chips were cooked perfectly and the the cod was flaky, and the batter was golden. Really enjoyed it walking along a cold Hastings seafront.

The table was dirty, staff eating their lunch when we was seated. They then proceeded to cook our order whilst eating lunch with their fingers - not washing hands. We was allowed the dog in the restaurant, they kept passing her food in the end we had to ask them to stop. The staff seemed more interested in feeding the dog & eating their own lunch than general hygiene. We ordered tea, as they brought the cups over and they said the teabag was left in but pretty certain only 1 bag was used between 2 cups.

Not nearly ss nice as it has previously been so I can only assume there is new ownership. Tables not cleaned properly (just tidied and not wiped) Waitress was young and very forgetful, she also wore her long hair loose, which was most unhygienic for a person serving food. We have visited many times over the years but will not be going there again.

Despite the pale looking fish the food was actually very tasty. I would definitely go back here again if ever in Hastings. Prices are much more reasonable than some on the high street (avoid the tourist trap ones on the main sea front!) Only lost a star as cash only and there was a bit of a wait.

This used to be the best in Hastings for a takeaway but not now. The guy frying was obnoxious and ignorant. fish and chips ok but mushy peas very very watery. Drunks outside the door and not a pretty sight. Will NOT be going there again. We visit Hastings every year and you have lost our custom.

We go to Hastings camping and always get our fish and chips, or just chips at Blue Dolphin , sometimes we eat in or get takeaway, always very good , staff polite , last Sunday they asked us to try new chips that they had got and asked our opinion, well as normal best in Hastings. Wouldn't go anywhere else.
