Chips were very hard and the pie was very hard

Amazing value we all had the fish and chips, my dad has dementia and they were so understanding.

A very clean place, and a warm welcome from friendly staff. The service was fantastic. The food was delicious. My husband had pie and chips, I had a prawn salad. The salad was beautifully presented with fresh and crispy ingredients. Husband had plenty of chips plus a little side salad with his Pukka pie. The meals and two hot drinks came to just under £20. We were there around 12:30/1pm. There were a few people in there but not too busy. Quite spacious inside but may be difficult with larger aids/wheelchairs. Toilet is upstairs (didn't notice if there was a disabled toilet).

Lovely lunch, cod was perfectly cooked with wonderfully crispy batter and great chips. Good menu, arrived quickly but obviously cooked to order. Our waitress Paige was efficient, cheerful and made our visit an absolute pleasure. Best eat fish and chip restaurant in town and that's saying something in Hastings. We will definitely be returning again and again. Thank you guys!

Me my partner and 2 year old daughter wore waiting for an hour for our food though 3 families came got served, received there food and left before we got ours.

Wow the best Haddock I have eaten in Sussex in the Brighton, Eastbourne, Hastings area the last few experiences have put me off fish and chips but thought I would give it one more try the Haddock was hanging off the plate very good portion size chips were nice it's a large seating area inside the restaurant but the only thing what let it down was the restaurant was cold I had a fleece and hat on a couple sat across from me a lady also had her coat and hat on but the fish hands down the best in the Sussex area I was born in Grimsby, Lincolnshire 50 years ago was one off the biggest docks in the world hence the reason I eat a lot of fish 🎏 😋

Dropped in for lunch at this restaurant whilst my bike was being MOT’d was expecting Town Centre Tourist Quality and price . However after ordering the small cod and chips and a cup of tea I was impressed with the portion size which was generous and value for the price and excellent quality. The restaurant itself clean and well maintained. It is thoroughly recommended if you get the chance.

The surroundings were very nice but not on the font( we discovered those later!) We had fish and chips and it was good to see a choice of three portion sizes. The downside was the long wait to be served about 40 minutes. It seemed to quicken up after we’d been served with more people in the cafe at that stage so no reason obvious or given for delay.

used to be really good service, went in the other day with family. one meal had been forgotten and when we recieved meals pie was still frozen and we waited ages and no apology, felt when we where given meals plates where flung at us and so was bill. very bad service.

Good and fresh food, potatoes are hand peeled and cooked very well, and portions are much larger than you’d think, tidy restaurant and friendly staff, the duty manager, Emma, was helpful and polite, the chefs were friendly and thorough, definitely worth checking out

I used this chippie many times but after last visit I have to change my 5 stars to 3 stars, last time waited for fish and chips to take away for more than 40 min. Not coming back.

My friend and I ordered scampi, chips and sausage here. Since we were catching a bus to Ecclesbourne glen in about twenty minutes and also wanted to buy some food from Macdonald across from this chip shop, so I asked the young chef how long it’s gonna take. He replied me 10 minutes. But when I came back from Mac after 10 minutes, the food was still not ready. I said to him could you hurry up cause we are catching a bus. Then, the young chef started to give me an attitude. When the food was finally ready, he wrapped the food very slackly even didn’t ask do we need salt and vinegar on chips. And threw the food on the counter. Talking about the flavor, I used to work at a chip shop in Bedford, I expected more from a chip shop in Hastings. The chips are good but the sausage is very average, not crispy but limp casing. The owner here (I assume he is) is good, help us chase the food, wearing smile always.

Awful and rude ownership not only that but I had food poisoning from my cod that evening and had my food at 3.55pm. Everything seemed OK with eating here up until they brought my cod and chips out,looked quite pleasant and decent portion but all was not as it seemed at first sight. I started cutting up my fish a couple of times and took a few mouthfuls and then moved onto another section of my cod to notice that it didn't look quite right inside and the flakes of fish was a slight browny colour and hard to slice through, I spoke to my husband and said I didn't feel comfortable eating anymore as it didn't look right and he agreed to speak to management. When a man came out and was over the top telling me that my fish was fine to eat promising that it was all cooked and as it should be in look and colour and then taking it upon himself to use my knife and cut up my own food in front of me on the table and pointing out that it was all cooked. THIS IS NOT HOW A RESTAURANT SHOULD BE RUN AND I EXPECTED MORE FROM THE MANAGER HIMSELF. YOU JUST DONT DO THAT KIND OF THING!!!, so after he took it upon himself to use my knife to cut my food up I was furthermore put off from eating anything else from my plate. What he should have done is accepted responsibility that I wasn't happy and offered me a new piece of fish or something else from the menu. None of this was done!! Still having to leave with paying full price for a meal I didn't eat all because of the manager. Avoid this so called RESTAURANT!! A very bad experience and totally ruined our holiday which resulted in FOOD POISONING!!

Took my 5 kids here for lunch . Food was perfect and the staff were all so friendly . Very clean and comfortable. Highly recommended 👌

Handy fish and chip restaurant in the centre of Hastings. The food was nice. The service was a bit hit and miss . Kept waiting for ages. One member of staff seemed to be doing everything and the other staff member doing nothing but talking to a friend and her child.

Came down to Hastings first time coming to this seaside town and we wanted to stay with the seaside theme and have fish for lunch.. We had haddock chips and whitebait and chips with a shared salad and by the point I had eaten the salad and my partner found a red worm in his salad as soon as he showed me I spat my food out in horror. We left and didn't pay i would had been more belligerent about it but I was still reeling from shock never have I found live worms in my food before and telling my partner it's impossible to find it in the salad because its a difficult job is beyond beggers beliefs you have creatures crawling in your food you need to apologise and recognise the issue never again will we come here

We've just had fish and chips from this place, we ordered large chips which were a kids portion and medium cod which we asked if they could remove the skin and they hadn't. When we phoned up to ask about it, their reply was "what do you want me to do about it". He basically couldn't give us the time of day. Would NOT eat here again as the food wasn't even nice!!

We visited one Sunday lunchtime. Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive without being intrusive. The fish and chips were excellent and I am looking forward to a repeat visit.

Nothing changed since I was there last year, only change was a small bottle of hand sanitizer on each table. Service and food very good, but little or no attention to social distancing. You walk in and out where you want. Same door and there are two entrances. In fairness one is to the take away area. There are tables on the street. No notices regarding covid 19, Staff had no face coverings or protective gloves and when customers left the table was quickly wiped with what I take it to be a sanitizer. Chairs, menus etc were not cleaned. They only take cash so the entire health situation is a concern.

Nice food and super helpful friendly staff - only slight downside is that on both times I've eaten here my chips have been mainly all the little end pieces rather than proper chips. I did point it out to the waitress and she said if I tell her next time she will swap them.

chips weren't even cooked proper, staff rude and half of my order was missing. They have no idea what they are doing wasted all my money and went next door to the Caribbean who have amazing food and amazing staff unlike here

The chips were cold.The curry sauce was watered down.The calamari was overcooked and made with cheap store draught squid.

Great value for money. Clean and modern decor. Staff are friendly, attentive and polite. Food is clean, flavourful and very generous portions. Nice spacious restaurant. Good selection of food and drinks. The only catch is they only accept cash and the only toilet is upstairs. Toilets are clean and fresh, it just limits anybody with physical impairments because of the stairs.

Had a lovely fish and chip supper, great hot meal, fast service and reasonably priced.We knew it would be good as local people were having meals there too.

What a find on a wet and stormy afternoon!The fish and chips were amazing- the batter was incredibly light and just yummy. Huge portions!Lovely waitress who didn’t stop clearing and cleaning up the whole time we were there. Highly recommended - you won’t be disappointed.

Went to this fish and chip/takeaway shop and ate in restaurant area. Ordered food and when it arrived my husband's fish was not as it should be. It was so greasy that he left half of it. The woman on the table next to us was asking for her meal to be taken away as it wasn't satisfactory so we didn't bother to complain. My fish was just ok and the chips were definitely frozen. When it came to paying, they only took cash. We late saw a small notice on the window at the front but it would be very hard to see. We told the waitress we should ahve been told this when we were ordering as we would have gone elsewhere. Wouldn't go here again. To get to the toilets you have to go up a flight of around 14 steps and then another 3 steps further along. Wouldn't go here again.

We came to Hastings for a weekend visit and the fish bowl was recommended to us, we was pleasantly surprised as soon as we walked through the door, the decor isnt what you'd expect and the greeting we was met with automatically made us realise we made the right choice to visit.We both ordered a regular size cod and chips, I say regualar but the portions were huge, our waitress was lovely and from what I can see, an asset to the establishment, I don't remember her name but she had long blond hair.We stayed longer than expected and even ordered deserts, cod and chips by the sea, what more could you want? I cant recommend this place enough if you want a proper fish a chips and a nice atmosphere. Bravo

When ever you go to the seaside as a visitor, fish and chips is meant to be one of the highlights. More often than not though, that ‘great place with rave reviews’ is greasy, dry and a cash cow with people lining up not knowing any better.Today I was really pleased to have my low expectations met and passed above what would be my younger high expectations. To start the staff were a delight and looked happy to be doing what they were doing. The main hostess/manager was very bubbly and happy which has an affect on the atmosphere of any venue.The food was good, not greasy and the batter was nice and crisp. Good value too. I could go on... just as some one who used to live by the coast and having memories of how fish and chips should be done trod on with disappointment after disappointment... the fish bowl gave my jaded taste buds a good smack. Thank you.
