We stayed in a nearby cottage and ate here five times during the week. Initially, we’d planned on booking meals at the King’s Head too, but they weren’t doing food until later in the week. However, we were very happy with all the meals we had at The Blue Bell. Highlights were my wife’s fish and chips (twice), my delicious roast leg of lamb for Sunday lunch, an excellent homemade lasagne and wood pigeon breast with risotto. The desserts we tried were also very good. When we arrived on Saturday there were eight beers on, mostly from Lamb brewery at nearby Litton, Dark Horse brewery and Wharfedale brewery. The beers went down to seven during the week, but still a good choice. If you want to go in for just a drink, main evening food times could be tricky, although there is a small dedicated bar area with two tables. Outside of busy food times, you can also use the old bar area to the left of the door as you go in, which also has a large wood burner, so is quite cosy. Overall, would highly recommend.

The Blue Bell is - in my opinion - by some way the best of the three pubs in Kettlewell. Friendly and helpful staff, very good food and also - despite what a previous commenter claimed - a place you could just have a drink and a chat. The Lamb Brewing Co bitter (brewed not far away in Litton) is a superb beer which I tasted for the first time here. Well done for supporting (very) local businesses.

We have stayed in Kettlewell on a number of occasions over the years; and have stayed at The Blue Bell Inn before. It used to be a lovely hotel pub with a restaurant, but has now, unfortunately, morphed turned into a restaurant with a bar; the emphasis now seems to be on food rather than a lovely country pub with food - a bit of a money grab ? - you can only ‘stand’ if you want a drink, unless it’s really quite - you might get a seat outside (weather permitting) - we stayed there for 4 nights and there’s sadly no priority given to guests wanting to eat, it’s really first come first served - we came down to eat at 7pm to be told, ‘sorry we are full’ - so please book or there are other options locally (Kings Head & Race Horses), for those staying they insist you book and choose your breakfast the night before even although there’s no menu to chose from (full English with variants) and you have to give a time when you want to eat - breakfast is between 8:00 - 9:00 which is a little bizarre- also there’s limited ‘guest’ parking which is unfortunately dominated by the kitchen staff who secure the limited spaces that there are and consistently block you in, even though there’s ample parking outside the pub - we had to ask for staff cars to be moved on at least three occasions, which can be a problem, particularly if you need need to leave early: equally; we were asked on the first day if we wanted our room to be serviced (assuming that this was for the first day) which we said ‘no’ to but this apparently gave them license for the room not to be refreshed for the duration of of our 4 day stay. Alas, we don't think we will be coming back to what is a lovely village.

Our third visit to this place and have to say I was extremely disappointed. Having waited an hour for our evening meal my lasagne was barely warm so gave it back only to have it returned moments later. It had been warmed up in the microwave which I was not impressed with. No alternate offered and was told it was quicker than having to wait for a fresh one. Despite it being late in the evening the place was far too busy to take bookings when the food wasn’t even warm considering it was allegedly cooked fresh. Partner had scampi that looked like it had been left in the fryer far too long and was very dry

Booked here to meet friends. Arrived and were slightly taken aback by appearances, which in this case are deceiving. Having ordered from the (somewhat depleted) menu we then had to wait an hour for our starters to arrive. Presumably they had to wait for the Oli to heat up in the fryers. They were delicious and followed by equally excellent mains. Not too expensive either at £30 for starter, main and drinks.

Told to give breakfast order before leaving for the afternoon and to confirm time between 8-9 am to eat. On check out additional £20 added for breakfast when previously implied was included. Unsatisfactory out come and expensive night.

We were a party of 13 - some stayed in the pub - some not - I can’t comment on the rooms as we were in our caravan down the road but I can on the food side as we all ate here together last Friday evening. We’d pre-ordered as they’d said they would be busy and food arrived bang on the time we’d agreed - the fact some of our party wasn’t ready was our fault, not theirs. Food was lovely (a proper goan curry not a toned down version to cope for the masses !) & everyone said how much they enjoyed their food choices. Made what was an engagement evening to the family very special. Can’t recommend this place enough !

Another excellent Sunday lunch at the Bluebell Inn Kettlewell. We were a large family group of 11 and the staff catered for us very well. Alison the waitress and Emma at the bar were very friendly and helpful. We called in to this beautiful village, taking a scenic route to Tan Hill and are very pleased that we did. The village of Kettlewell is really scenic and we intend to come back to stay very soon. We called into the Blue Bell for lunch and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and helpful. Sitting outside, taking in the peaceful scenery at the side of a stream with the hills all around. The pub is also dog friendly.

A really good hearty meal here. I had a huge cod steak on a bed of delicious mushroom risotto which was really fabulous - the sort of meal to savour every mouthful. My partner had a chicken and ham pie which he said was really good. I stole some of his chips which were excellent. Also shared a lemon posset with meringue and ice cream which was plate lickingly good. Friendly and great service.

We walked to Kettlewell from Buckden and felt that we deserved a nice lunch and a drink. Stopped at the Blue Bell and sat outside in the sun. Great location! We ordered 2 x double gins and tonic, a glass of white wine and a pint of bitter. The lovely barman warned us that it was going to be costly but wasn't expecting £43.00! This is a country, village pub, not one located in Central Leeds or London! We subsequently ordered food, which was lovely and priced sensibly. The pub is lovely, the staff pleasant and no criticism of the quality of food and drinks. But those drink prices will prevent us visiting again. There are other nearby pubs to choose from!

We turned up very damp after a long walk with two small dogs. It was mid week and midday, so quiet. We were greeted by a warm, clean, friendly environment. The hospitality from Geoff was outstanding and good chat about the rugby. We ordered drinks and a sandwich each. Well what a sandwich, I don’t think I have ever seen one like it. It was enormous, stuffed full with beautiful homemade fish fingers. There were treats for the dogs too. If we had not had to catch the bus home, we would have stayed there all afternoon. Will definitely return to try other things on the menu. Thank you Geoff and to the chef. Please don’t leave this place, it would not be the same without you.

Very friendly welcome and some nice beers to accompany the meal. Food - not so good: 3 out of 4 meals were barely warm and had to be sent back. The roast lamb was tasty but only came with potatoes and a tiny amount of mashed swede - no greens at all. The chicken supreme was again accompanied only by potatoes and no veg whatsoever! The other 2 dishes were the same story - lots of farms around the area too!! Very ironic! This place is very average - I would not go again.

It became a really busy lunchtime so I imagine some of the issues were to do with this, however it really wasn’t great I’m afraid. For balance, booking was easy and the person I spoke to was lovely. When we arrived there was nobody there to let us know which table we should sit at - we had to wait at a busy bar for any clue. There was no high chair provided despite us having a toddler in our party. We waited over an hour for our food - I imagine because it’s fresh to order however we weren’t pre warned of this nor was there many people in the pub at the point we ordered although it soon filled up very quickly with a huge queue due to their order and pay at the bar system. The long wait with a little one was an issue, and I’m sure for anyone this is the case - and when the food arrived 50% of the meals were stone cold (albeit nicely presented). We were too hungry at this point to care in the moment. To top it off I would describe their prices as central Leeds restaurant - which is ludicrous given then are a country pub and by no means Gastro. Sorry but it’s a never again from us

Unfortunately, the worst meal I've ever had at a Weatherspoons. Gourmet steak for me and char grilled chicken for my wife. Both sent back as being tough and uneatable. I suspect these had been pre-cooked and warmed up. The replacements were marginally better but not much. Very dissapointed.

We came here not knowing any review or the place itself. We came on a Thursday evening about 6pm, were greeted politely and shown to a table. The server provided us with menus and came back five minutes later to take our order. Prices are reasonable, portions are a good size and the service and food were excellent. I don't always believe the odd negative review of Fish n Chip Restaurants as not all positive reviews are recorded, just the negative ones. We will definitely be returning when we are in the area again.

Waited over 15 minutes to get served a drink. One uninterested barman for over 70 people. Had pre-ordered our food . It was given to someone else. The management refused to replace it as the kitchen was about to shut. Very arrogant attitude. On the plus side, a good pint of beer. Ate next door at the very friendly Lister Arms.

We booked a table here the other night for 5.30 and we had the fish pie and lamb shank and a pint. Food arrived in good time. The portion sizes were huge and very tasty and only just fit on the plates. The food was definitely warm enough as it took a while to cool to eating temperature. The Fish pie had lots of fish and prawns in it aswell as a really delicious sauce and creamy mashed potato. The lamb shank was large and very tasty. Nice friendly staff. Very reasonable prices and good beer. Decor had a nice old fashioned pub charm which unfortunately you don't see anymore with bistro ponsy pubs everywhere. Not sure where all the negative reviews of this pub are from, probably by miserable customers who expect royal service and silver tableware but don't want to pay the price for it. Would highly recommend this family run pub.

I hated the smell inside. It smells of stale bleach which is overpowering. I don't know what they use to clean but it really put me off my meal unfortunately.
