Blue Bell Inn in Doncaster

Amazing meal as always. Attentive staff and fantastic presentation. Recent award winners and its well deserved. A lot of other restaurants could take a leaf out of their book

From entering the front door through to leaving, the experience was a very pleasurable one. Staff were friendly and the food was amazing. Will certainly come again.

The supper club exceeded expectations last night! We were surprised to see that Mark managed to gain a day off, but we were plesently surprised that this didn't take away from the welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Mark, Brandon and the team really do get to know their customers and their preferences. We started with the duck & orange parfait and the seatrout gravlax. Wow, these starters were faultless. Perfect portion sizes and wonderful flavours. Unfortunately (due to our later booking and a fully booked restaurant) the Lamb shanks were sold out. However, they couldn't have been more accommodating by offering the lamb shank pie instead (this wasn't on the super club menu!) Again, the flavours of the meal were outstanding and definitely a temptation for us to revisit on Thursdays 'pie night'. For £25 each, the two courses filled us to the brim and were unmatched by anywhere we've recently visited. Not forgetting the bar, i don't have a great deal to review on this occasion because the cosmopolitan was so tasty that I didn't manage to make it any further through the cocktail menu! If you haven't visited already, you're missing a real hidden gem. I'd strongly advise booking, even midweek, to avoid disappointment. However, be mindful that the a la carte menu isn't available every night so keep an eye on their Facebook page or give them a call if you're unsure.

Friendly welcome as you walk in, brilliant service from start to finish. All the food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious.

First impressions count, and my word, this establishment truly excelled. Two smartly dressed gentlemen in waistcoats, and the cleanest pub I have seen in many a decade. For starters, we had the prawn and crayfood cocktail, and for mains, herb breaded cod with proper homemade chips and cockle tartare sauce and the trio of sausages (the most flavoursome sausages I have ever had) accompanied by red onion mash and crispy onions. The presentation and quality of the food was nothing short of sublime, Go and see for yourself just how wonderful the Blue Bell at Blaxton is, we cannot wait to go back.

Fantastic meal again. We've been here loads of times and the food is always amazing. One of my pet hates is when you wake up the morning after going out for a meal thinking I'd wasted money on a meal i could have made better myself . After eating at The Bluebell I wake up thinking "what a fantastic meal, I can't wait to go back".

Four of us enjoyed lunch at The Bluebell Blaxton yesterday. We had the set menu which was excellent value for money and offered a delicious choice of dishes. We chose a crisp, dry rosè from the comprehensive wine list to accompany our meal. The staff were warm, welcoming and knowledgable. The Bluebell has been tastefully refurbished providing a comfortable and relaxing dining experience. Well worth a visit-we will definitely be back!

A hidden gem for a great Sunday lunch. With several good choices on the menu I’m glad the family split our choices so that I could see the quality of the food on offer. The roast pork and beef were tender with generous roasts, mash and separate vegetables, soft and crispy Yorkshire puddings and delicious cauliflower cheese. The fish looked delicious, along with some great choices of wines and beer from the bar. There was limited room for desert for the two that had them, the brownies and sticky toffee puddings looked amazing. Great service and nice surrounding worth a visit.

A wonderful meal, beautiful surroundings and excellent service. Well worth the cost and simply a superb place to treat yourself to something special. We will be back.

Since the blue bell was taken over August 2023, the food is amazing and the service even better. Very Lucky to have it on our doorstep wether you are popping in for a drink or a meal, it is worth a visit.

Have heard good reviews about the Blue Bell so we thought we would give it a try for Sunday lunch. Everything from our friendly welcome to leaving was excellent. The food was very tasty and well prepared with great size portions. We had starters and a main course we would have liked a dessert but we were full. The drinks are reasonably priced as is the food. The staff are friendly and took great care of us. All in all everything was top notch and we will definitely recommend the Blue Bell to others and visit again in the future.

Mark and his team were extremely welcoming - the quality and taste food was exceptional, every dish was perfectly balanced, the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming with a warm fireplace and friendly welcome. Mark and team were hospitable, accommodating and attentive without being overbearing or intrusive. The wine selection is incredible and Marks knowledge on wine pairing is unmatched. The Sunday Dinner was lovely. Cooked to perfection. I had pork loin.. while there I decided to have a cocktail, oh my it was beautiful, bit pricey but great nonetheless. Mark and his team are very attentive. Beautifully clean. The toilets are spotless.

Had a wonderful lunch with my family, the service from Mark and his staff was excellent as always. I opted for the fish of the day - an absolutely sublime trout dish! The fish was cooked to perfection. Highly recommended.

Excellent food. If you are wanting a friendly atmosphere and food that just melts in the mouth, then come here. The Ox cheek was sublime, and my partner had the Belly Pork. We could not recommend it highly enough. The menu is small but I feel that this enables then to perfect the menu so you WILL come back again.

If you enjoy exceptional food this is the place to be , An extremely warm welcome, in a very relaxed place ,The food was beautifully cooked & well presented ,The service was second to none, I would say this is the best restaurant in the area for a special night out , We would highly reccomend & will definstely be returning soon.

Our second visit and planning on many more in the future! We have been so impressed both times with the food / staff friendliness / restaurant atmosphere. It’s refrehing to have a menu which offers something different most weeks and an option to try something less common ie wild boar / different cuts. This is a great place for a relaxed evening. The food is exceptional, we shared the charcuterie board, my husband chose the steak and I had belly pork. If you are looking for 5 star food in a friendly not pretentious atmosphere then this is certainly a venue for you. A very imaginative menu that is not overly full of too many choices confirming the quality and freshness of the produce on offer leads you into a terrific journey of taste and flavour. It really is a find that needs to be shared so do yourself a favour and give it a try.

First time after reading very good reviews. Excellent fresh fish and homemade chips served with perfect mushy peas. Pub was warm and friendly and the service was second to none. Will definitely be returning.

We have just returned from lunch at The Blue Bell. The place wins on three levels. Firstly, the wine list is very good, with high quality wines at reasonable prices. Secondly, the obviously very talented chef uses good quality, fresh ingredients, and treats them with great skill and care. Finally, the staff are friendly and knowledgable, with a clear understanding of what they are trying to achieve. The result is the best restaurant meal we have eaten in a decade. Exceptional.

My wife and I tried the Blue Bell yesterday for lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We found the whole experience very enjoyable. The lunch menu offered an ideal choice and was well priced at £24 for 3 courses. I had the prawn starter, the beef main and sticky toffee pudding to finish. My wife had a soup starter, the fish main (halibut on the day) and the same sweet dish. The food was lovely, well presented and the service was excellent. We reserved a table in the bar as we took our dog with us and dog friendly places always get a big tick from us. On the back of this experience we’ve booked up for Sunday lunch in January. Long may this place stay open and maintain the high dining standard that we enjoyed for our anniversary.

my wife and I were on our way to another hostelry not far from the blue bell when we remembered our daughter in law had said to give it a try.so we did and are so glad that we did, from the moment we walked in the manager was very attentive and friendly. Even our drinks were brought to our table.We ordered our food which was not long coming and i have to say it was excellent.The fish pie was full of good size pieces of fish and the lasagne also a good size portion.When the manager heard it was my wifes birthday he gave a complimentary shot of baileys.One other surprise was we paid for nothing until we were ready to leave.On our experience we would recommend this eatery well done and thank you.Also saved some petrol by not going to our original destination.
