Another lovely meal in Blue. Very tasty home cooked style food. Lots of fish choices as you’d expect in mevagissey but meat and veggie options too. Highly recommended

We did pop in as small little cafe with food our children would eat. Food was good enough but think the two staff just seemed a bit worn out as not overly talkative, but may just be their way. I am trying not to write this in a disrespectful manner as know tourist industry has been tough with long hours worked. Good to see dogs allowed though.

First time to Mevagissey and to Blue. Lovely to find somewhere that doesn’t serve ‘door stop sandwiches’. If your looking for a ‘light bite’ then this is the place. Good tea, tasty cheese and a fresh and tasty granary bread. The menu is full and varied from afternoon tea to a full meal and the Bistro is licensed. Good prices and well worth a visit.

We have lived in Meva for over two years and tried Blue for the first and last time. As others have stated, the woman is frosty and clearly doesn’t want to be there. I was served a warm and flat Diet Coke. We then ordered two omelettes with chips and beans. One came with peas. The portion of the beans and unwanted peas were actually laughable. The waitress huffed and puffed when we asked for sauces and vinegar. One of the satchets of sauce was congealed upon opening. One of the worst meals I’ve ever had. The omelette tasted nice but the chips were frozen oven chips and were rock hard. We both felt very unwell afterwards and will never return

We all ordered a fish dish and found our dishes to be completely tasteless. So bland it was almost inedible and three of us left the majority of our food. Suspect it was frozen including the veg which was so watery. The waitress didn’t ask if there was anything wrong even though there was so much food uneaten.

Visited Blue last month during Mevagissey Feast weekend. Myself and my partner were looking for somewhere to eat and came across Blue. The restaurant wasn't busy, however the ambiance was lovely. The lady who looked after us throughout our meal was quiet and freindly. Our meal was FANTASTIC! a complete 'fish' meal which was superbly cooked. Looking forward to going back.

I have never encountered a more frosty welcome. We walked in while on holiday as they welcomed dogs only that was not true cause they don't welcome anyone no hello how are you nothing we picked a table as there was lots to choose from we sat and waited eventually went up the counter and ordered again no smile no general chit chat nothing.... husband had sandwich and I had a cream tea. Sandwich was nothing special over priced as I certainly could of got a better meal deal from a garage cream tea was OK. Another group of people came in so place had a little atmosphere then as it was silence before. The lady ehind counter could certainly do with some training and maybe find a smile. We could all here the ladies chatting behind counter which sounded a little heated one asking another to talk quite ect. When we had finished and wanted out asap the lady behind counter was bad mouthing the group of people that came in after us as she had taken their order wrong but of course it wasn't her fault it was theirs that is very unprofessional. When we left another holiday maker asked what we thought of it in there we said ok to which he went on to tell us about hes experience in there and it sounded worse than our experience. Maybe some training wouldn't be a miss learn how to smile and chat to your customers. I am not one for leaving bad reviews but this one certainly needs some changes made.

Probably the worst meal we've ever been served. After a very long wait, the fish platter arrived on luke warm plates. The white fish was partly uncooked and almost cold, the prawns luke warm, the salmon luke warm and completely overcooked. I'm spite of being 500metres from the harbour, the white fish and plaice were from frozen fillets. The pastry of the rabbit pie was so hard that it was difficult to cut and tough to eat. The vegetables were massively over-cooked. In spite of most of the food being left on our plates, the rather detached waitress didn't bother to check at any time that we were enjoying the meal. The atmosphere was so awkward, and tables close together, that it would have been extremely embarrassing to complain. An expensive mistake and we certainly won't be returning.

Sorry Blue but you really aren't suited to a service industry where customer satisfaction is paramount. Making conversation was difficult, food (served quickly) was not good enough to compensate for the less than welcoming atmosphere. 2 leaf garnish, not quite adequately filled toastie and cold brie and cranberry were uninspiring. Cheese tea was good. I don't think that this was a deliberate thing, just not keeping up with present day customer expectations. Reading your responses to unfavourable reviews on this site just confirms our opinion. Will not revisit.

Quaint little restaurant that allows dogs. Only 6 tables which was nice. Nice lady waiting on. We had fish and chips and crab salad. Food served nicely and the quantity and quality very good, my only criticism was the fish and chips served on a cold plate, the chips had obviously been ready before the fish and were warm but not hot, the fish was hot enough but cooled quickly, the peas were stone cold. Just small details like this make all the difference and would have been scored higher.

Had a cream tea. Not especially welcoming to be honest. Woman sighed when I said I'd pay for my food there and then, before it was served. I went up to the hatch to say 'thank you' after I had finished and it was all such an effort...no 'thank you, bye' back in return. No real acknowledgment...I'd obviously disturbed her from her work. Rude and unwelcoming.

It is rare that I have written a scathing review on Trip Advisor and have never before given a rating so low, however, I either I am on my own here, or some reviewers are too tolerant and easily pleased. This establishment is easily the most disappointing I have visited in many a year. The food we ordered was poor (2 jacket potatoes). Microwaved potatoes, cut completely in half with no butter and no more than a large spoon of garlic mushrooms thrown over them. One was not fully heated and hard in places. No redeeming feature with the tiny mixed salad, served dry with no dressing and none offered. The lady serving was curt and unsmiling and clearly wished she wasn't there. Added to that, with Covid-19 regulations, she wore no mask, which, as I understand it, is now a requirement for waiting staff. There was no QR code displayed, nor any attempt to ask for contact details, when asked about this, the surly waitress pointed to a sheet of paper on another table saying, "It's there, I thought you had filled it in".The entire experience was as poor as it gets.

Lovely to find somewhere to seat us with our dog so hats off to them there. However, the waitress appeared annoyed by us even entering the cafe despite there being only 1 other customer in there to the point it made us feel rather uncomfortable. Service was very slow, the other customer had already been served and as a small party of adults wanting only sandwiches / baguettes and tea I don’t understand how it took over 30 minutes to arrive. Food when it arrived was lovely tasting however the ‘salad’ accompaniment consisted of 3 leaves of rocket, 1/4 tomato and 1 slice of cucumber and the large baguette only contained 1 slice of bacon. Quite disappointed overall by service and portion sizes.

Half the drinks were out of stock or some reason why they didn'y have it.We should have left then..The couple in front had ordered and then we ordered, after about 45mins their food arrived and after another 10 mins our food arrived. The crab sandwich was a DISGRACE, slight smearing of dry crab and really odd Gluten free bread, the ham egg and chips, well the chips were frozen chips and the fried egg had seen better days, the chips were hard. The Brie and Bacon baguette was tough, the brie was in large chunks and the bacon 1 SORRY SLICE over cooked and so hard. the sausage baguette was ok-ish but I think the sausages were left over from Breakfast, the skins was so tough.the table were really sticky and I saw the waitress pour the salt out of the salt pots (shaped like lighthouses) poking her fingers inside them to break up the hard lumps and then refill them with the same salt. The cafe is attractively presented, the menu looked ok and reasonably priced. Unfortunately the reality less good! We had a ham egg and chips, soup and bread, mushroom omelette and chips and a crab sandwich. The welcome was quite underwhelming and the food totally uninspiring! The soup was warm and ok with a slice of bread. Omelette plonked on plate with some limp salad and few chips ( my young grandson would do better). Ham egg and chips didn’t look great but was ok. Crab sandwich arrived with a spot of mould on the bread which I pointed out. At that point I would expect some sort of ‘ oh! Sorry about that’ or similar. I think we got a ‘it’s fresh bread’ or something equally unapologetic. When the remade sandwich arrived it was tasteless and on plain sliced bread with a bit of limp leaves - boring!I feel bad to leave this sort of review but the people running this place really need to pull their socks up or give up.

As others have said, this is a quirky little restaurant, a few tables in what feels like a front room, but the meal we had here was excellent and reasonably priced. This is laid-back Cornwall, not a fast-food joint; a place for a quiet meal rather than the usual hubbub of noise in restaurants and pubs. The menu is a little bit limited and there's plenty of time for a drink while you wait for your meal but that's part of the charm - it's different to the other local eateries.

The elderly waitress has no customer skills and we felt as though we should be apologising for our presence! Surreal tiny bistro in owners front room (or felt like it as in casa paticulares in Cuba) good fish orientated menu but with items for non fish lovers. Good service. Very reasonable prices and good wine

This place has had mixed reviews but it was superb. Garlic bread & goats cheese followed by sea bream & pork belly & desserts. With 2 bottles of well priced wine £66.

My wife and I ate her while on holiday in Mevagissey, food was very nice in an old fashioned but good way and prices fair, the waitress (efficient enough) looked like she had lost a tenner and found a quid and the decor is a bit quirky, would probably give it another go if we return to Meva

A quirky place and i was apprehensive given the comments. however, we had a lovely dinner, food was really good. We left very full. it wasn't expensive and the place was full when we left. I had the Stilton mushrooms. Plenty of mushrooms and sauce and it had Stilton in it, not waved over it. i followed with the plaice fillets, delicious, with nice potatoes and veggies. Couldn't manage a pud. Worth a look

Well cooked seafood, lacking a bit of atmosphere & looking out on to busy road. Good value for money.

I popped in for a quick drink and snack with my toddler and was greeted with unfriendly stares from the staff. One lady took my order which took a long time considering it was for cold drinks and a toasted teacake. The other member of staff sat talking and whispering with other customers. I couldn't wait to leave.

All the bigger places were booked out so we found blue on the way back to the car. My wife and son are picky eaters. We ordered the roast cod, gammon, and ham & eggs. We all enjoyed our meals and were glad to have stumbled on this place. Had a nice chat with the lady serving too.

We went into Blue as the menu promised a good variety of dishes that were a bit more unusual than the normal. There was one customer sitting in when we came and he told us to sit anywhere. Eventually a grubby lady appeared to take our order, she wrote the order on a cheap paper napkin as she had run out of order pads. I chose the goat cheese with walnuts, figs and honey, it was good (this is the reason for the 2 marking). However the rest of the meal did not live up to the same standard.

My sister Popped into what looked like lovely place to have breakfast on my own ,actually I was the only customer in there , I ordered the small breakfast which took around ten mins for which I didn’t mind but when it was placed on the table by long haired dirty lady . I looked down at my breakfast with horror as the egg wasn’t cooked properly , the bacon was undercooked , the sausage looked deep fried and I tried it but it was chewy ,hash brown was rock hard and the fried bread was burnt to cinder , the only thing I liked was the tea which she only half drank ...... she took the plate back to staff and told them it wasn’t edible they didn’t even appologise all that was said was just charge for the tea ........... so would not recommend this to anyone unless it’s just for cup tea

We booked our table for two and thoroughly enjoyed our starters of crab cocktail and olives. The rabbit pie took me back to my grandmother's cooking which was delicious my wife enjoyed her pollock and mackerel both served with new potatoes, broccoli, red cabbage, cauliflower and educated conversation varying from prose, history, songs a real super with extra va va room for only 5 tables it was homely.

We live pretty local about 45 mins away and just popped to mevagissy for a short day out it was a lovely hot day and as we parked we had a walk on the piers i said do you fancy a drink and we all said yes so i went in and ordered a latte green tea and a milkshake , no rocket science needed for this order my other half said her green tea was nice but the milkshake was made with warm milk and my coffee was horrible no way the lavazza that was on the signs outside this was how can i put it instant coffee with maybe a bit of cream on top really not nice, the price was ok but i would of paid double for a nice ice cold milkshake and a decent cup of all milk coffee, just got home and a strange taste in my mouth from the coffee, i have to say there were a couple in there eating food fish and chips i think and that looked good, such a shame lovey little cafe but awful coffee.

Good fish and chips which arrived quite quickly and was reasonably priced. Comment for owner: may need to address ventilation as strong smell of cooking/burning fat even though door was open.

I found the fish a bit uncooked, but taste was not bad. Very basic table, take away style. We did wait for a while, so looks like is really cooked at the moment, and seemed like there was only one person doing everything ( is a small place, with few tables).

We were the only people in the cafe but it still took ages for our food to be delivered. My husband didn’t want tomatoes and I didn’t want butter on my toast - we ended up with both!

We used to love popping in here when we were in Truro, you would be lucky to get a seat but now it’s take your pick. In a nutshell the place has lost its soul.

20 people from sainsbury went last Sunday . Not one meal was any good . The nights before chicken . And chips that would fly off your plate .they were that over done , used to be good a few years ago .

Festive Afternoon Tea this afternoon was very disappointing. It is clearly a stop gap to keep income trickling in between Sunday lunch and evening dinner service. The biggest issue is with the service, very inattentive, unconcerned staff not in the slightest bit interested in providing a professional level of attention. The afternoon tea was acceptable but not exactly delightful let alone memorable or to be recommend to others. Delightful setting with the hotel beautifully appointed and well decorated for Christmas, just a pity the staff were not switched on at all. Management at fault and it would appear no investment made in staff training.

For a spot of lunch, my wife and two children decided to eat here. Never again. We settled on the beef style kebabs (on a skewer). With rice. The beef was tough, tastless, rough and badly cooked. I was a butcher, I should know! Rice was microwaved but still undercooked! The salad that came with it was soggy, rotten and floppy. The best part of the meal was the kids fish goujons. We spent 70 quid (including drinks) on some of the worst food I've eaten.
