Sal a tu manera e intenta algo diferente.

First visit here as I have just moved to the area. Nice coffee, quiet atmosphere and friendly staff member. Very likely I will pop in again.

A trendy place with a unique selection of coffee and good music on the stereo. I had one of the filtered coffees which was very flavoursome although I do prefer a very hot cup of coffee so I would try something different next time. This is not a criticism just a personal preference, the flavour was still exquisite. I have made a few visits to this place and have also enjoyed the peppermint tea which is made with loose leaf tea, very nice. I particularly enjoy visiting the shop when the lady owner is present. She is warm and welcoming and I have enjoyed some nice conversations with her. Keep up the good work, your shop is pure class.

Just popped in to get myself a coffee and found myself pleasantly surprised with the professionalism and knowledge of coffee the staff provided. Ended up staying for half an hour and enjoyed every second, great coffee house, with an extensive knowledge and pride in what they do. Will undoubtedly be back again.

1st visit and very impressed. Had a Guatemalan filter coffee and an orange blossom oolong tea. Both expertly made and really enjoyable. A nice selection of coffees and teas in all

Quality coffee, whether it’s espresso or filter. Its good that Newcastle has a few independent roasters but equally as good that there is a speciality shop like BLK which imports in the best coffee from the around the UK and Europe for us to try.

At last - PROPER coffee! Not your usual costa/Starbucks rubbish, this place is really excellent especially on the dreaded Monday morning commute into town! Not a unicorn monstrosity in sight!

Was out and about with my little girl, and needed some coffee beans for home, and BLK always have a good selection of beans in. So off we went to pick up some beans, on the shelf were two bags of Squaremile, so swiftly grabbed one of those, as I didn't want to miss out on beans, as this was my primary mission. When at the counter to pay for my beans, my little girl got her eye on the tasty selection of cakes on display. I thought it would be unfair to not let her have a treat as she had been my companion on this mission. Cakes ordered, for both of us, obviously, as she can't eat cake alone. (Well that's my excuse for having one too). I also had a Has Bean espresso which was delicious. All served by one very helpful barista on a busy Saturday afternoon. Thanks, and we will definitely be back again soon. PS: The beans only last two weeks, they were very tasty.

I was getting a lift from someone and agreed to meet on Chillingham road. Rather foolishly (although I didn't think so at the time), I bought a takeaway coffee from another shop before I spotted croissants in BLK coffee. I went in, apologised light-heartedly for carrying a competitor's coffee cup and asked if I could eat the croissant in the shop (just because I had my hands full, it was windy, there was plenty of space, I was just eating it out of the bag - no plate required etc etc). I was (albeit politely) told no - if I didn't buy my coffee there, this was not alowed. Now I know this is a small matter in the whole scheme of things but it's put me right off going in there again and I've told several friends about this unfriendly and frankly ridiculous rule! I suggest caution is required when entering this establishment in case you unwittingly annoy the staff.

Was recommended the coffee from Burundi and it was delicious. I'm not normally one to drink coffee black, but it was so smooth it didn't need milk. I would recommend this to anyone in search of some high quality coffee!

Popped in for a quick coffee and cake with the hubby. Looked at the cakes and happened to notice one of the pieces had mould on the bottom - the lady in the shop did remove it when I pointed it out but to be honest it put me off. Coffee was nice enough.

Blk is a gem of a coffee shop. It's got a small but welcoming interior and looks upmarket and classy. The owner, Alison, is enthusiastic about her product and puts loads of time into her selection. I don't get how people can complain about cake enough to give 1 star considering it's primarily a coffee shop - and at that, it does perfectly. Sure, a bad tasting cake sucks but I've only ever had good things on the rare occasions I've managed to visit.

I quite often go out of my way to visit this gem of a coffee shop. Their focus really is on the quality of the coffee and Alison the shops owner clearly knows what she's doing when it comes to making the perfect cuppa. She has excellent knowledge and will expertly fix a brew to suit your taste. Service is exceptionally friendly and BLK update their coffee election regularly with interesting and unusual brewers from around the UK and beyond. They also have a small but tasty selection of cakes and pastries for when you need an extra fill with your caffeine fix. Oh and they're Dog friendly too! So most highly recommended to anyone after a decent coffee.

Good coffee , a bit pricey I think but still good coffee. Not a great selection of cakes , at the time we went (3pm) they only had cake and some brownies with Nutella which I found also expensive since the brownies were really small and they cost 2.3 if not mistaken . Cake was dearer.. a couple of tables outside in the sun for those that don't want to sit in the very small area inside the cafe. The guy that served me didn't smile once and wasn't very friendly.. overall an average place with bad service and good coffee

Finally a decent coffee place in heaton. The latte is bliss. My only tiny critism is there are only tall stools to sit in and my children are accident prone!

Recommended by a friend I am always willing to go out of my way for quality. Blk did not disappoint and in fact delivered on many levels. Alison not only knows her coffee, she is passionate, gives great customer service and brews a sublime cup of coffee. I can't recommend Blk enough if you want an exquisite cup of top quality coffee.

I can't recall seeing anyone as passionate about their product as Alison is about her coffee. She will happily talk you through each of the blends, the various brewing methods, levels of caffeine etc. I'm a simply guy and don't often stray from a flat white and this is as good as it gets - the correct temperature (coffee shouldn't be boiling!), strong, full of flavour, not bitter.

Very good coffee but there is so much competition in Heaton. This one lacks atmosphere and comfort. It needs to relax a bit. Very good coffee though.

Chillingham road is full of places to eat and drink but I'm really pleased that I picked this one for coffee and a sandwich today. The food was lovely and the coffee perfect and there's a nice feel to the place. Even though it was less than half an hour to closing I felt very welcome and not at all rushed. The lady serving me was really friendly and chatty, but without being intrusive.

Heaton has plenty of places to get an ‘OK’ coffee, but none that pour, in the words of Agent Dale Cooper, a ‘damn fine cup of coffee’.

We called into this café on our way to The Great Northern Museum. We ordered two coffees at the counter, but when we came to pay, we were told that cash was not accepted. This is a practice that we find quite deplorable so we left. It turned out well for us, because there was a café a few doors down which was very good and accepts cash.

Had high hopes for brunch at Eve but was a bit disappointed. We were seated straight away by a friendly young man. Probably sat for about 15-20 minutes without anyone approaching us for our order. I managed to get the hosts attention and he took the order for us. Seemed like there was a lot of staff but most of them lingered round the bar area. Saying that, their uniforms were odd, some were dressed in jeans/tshirts/aprons but none of them co ordinated so not always easy to identify who worked there and who didn’t. Pancakes were £11, were quite a small portion so not enough to fill you up. The live music was good but I’m not really sure it suited the vibe.
