Black Hat in Bradford

Just returned from a two night stay at the Black Hat. Lovely room. Large bathroom with bath/shower. Plenty of hot water. Good breakfast and lovely staff. Would definately return again. Fantastic stay!

Great accommodation in a local pub. We only had breakfast but this was a freshly made and delicious omelette. The quality of the room was high with a good view of the church.

Stayed the weekend at the Black Hat Excellent room to a very high standard .plenty of tea and coffee Staff very friendly and helpful. Even a dog goody box for our dog . Breakfast filled us up for the whole day .Definitely will return .

Not visited for a while so was surprised to observe how the outdoor area has deteriorated . Used to always be a pleasant area to sit on a sunny day but this time looked rather scruffy . The tables were in a poor state with lots of stains and marks on them . The floor was unswept with lots of weeds and cigarette butts . The outdoor area smelled of cooking fat due to a large kitchen vent blowing directly into the outdoor seating area. Sadly it wasn’t an enjoyable experience on this visit & won’t be rushing back. The indoor bar seemed ok when went to the bar .

Our large walking group descended on Black Hat this evening… staff absolutely bent over backwards to make us feel welcome and well cared for. Special mention to Richard, the chef, who kept sending delicious food out of the kitchen in spite of some staffing shortages. Great night had by all!

We stayed at the Black Hat whilst we enjoyed a cricket in Ilkley. The rooms are fantastic. Great food. A nice pint. Very welcoming staff. And Tony the manager was superb. Thanks from Acton cricket club. Would highly recommend.

This is now a compulsory stop when in Ilkley and again a great experience. Nothing flash, just a great pub with friendly staff and some great real ale. The beer garden is a great place to sit in the sun and chill out. Here’s to the next visit.

Excellent value and good service. The Lunch Deal offered a nice meal for under £10 with a free soft drink, only £1 extra for a pint of delicious beer.

Tony and his team (family members I think) offer generous Yorkshire hospitality with a smile and a chat. And a great breakfast too. Generous to a fault. The room is soundproof so there’s nothing to worry about in terms of getting a good nights sleep. We can thoroughly recommend the Black Hat hotel.

The room was spacious and had a well equipped large ensuite. Very clean. Fluffy towels. Comfy bed. Coffee machine in the room. The staff were great and received a warm welcome from the manager. It is very much dog friendly otherwise we would have not been able to stay. Our dog even received a Welcome Pack, and a bed and towel for the night. Breakfast was really good and freshly cooked. The public car park is at the rear of the pub and can stay overnight for £1. Nice friendly pub and sports bar.

I was supposed to be staying here with my friend as we were attending a gig but sadly she broke down and had to be recovered home. As a lone female and not knowing Ilkley I was very apprehensive going on my own. When I arrived they immediately made me feel welcome and at ease. The member of staff who greeted me took me up to my room which was nice. A lot of places nowadays just point you in the direction. The room had everything you needed and was clean. I even felt comfortable enough to go down on my own and have a drink in the bar. The bar area was nice, had plenty of tables/chairs, a good choice of drinks and lovely twinkly lights on the ceiling. I didn't sleep too well because I was on my own but it was one of the comfiest beds I have ever stayed in. I went down to breakfast next morning and again the staff made me feel at ease. There was a good menu for breakfast and the food was lovely. From bar staff to cleaners everyone was so nice and I would definitely stay here again. It is also only five minutes walk from the station, shop, restaurants and the theatre so is in a perfect position. Thank you to everyone at The Black Hat.

Went today expecting a nice meal but sadly it wasn’t delivered. The food came out super fast and wasn’t fresh at all, particularly the sea bass which was bone dry. The steak was chewy and the fries like over cooked McCain oven fries. The staff were nowhere to be seen and we had to move our own plates after we finished. We went a few times maybe 5 years ago and it was great then! Shame

Stayed 3 nights here and had a comfortable and clean en suite room. Really friendly and efficient staff who go beyond the obvious to make you welcome. Breakfast extensive menu freshly cooked. Not a place for a quiet evening meal - more a place for a friendly drink with sport to watch on TV.

So very surprised at the the quality and the cost oh and the service. No rush to order, pork and beef amazing. Even the Yorkshire pudding was so tasty.

First time I’ve stayed here but used to live in Ilkley so know it well as a pub. Nice bar, good outdoor area and helpful friendly staff. Room was very good for the price (much better value than The Crescent) and excellent breakfast included. Very professional manager (Tony? Sorry if I got that wrong!). Will definitely be default accommodation for Ilkley now after trying The Crescent, The Craiglands and others.

Always like coming here, great service and some nice real ales. The best pub in Ilkley by a country mile. Always a highlight of our visit to the town.

Stayed for 1 night with my elderly Mum and we were given the warmest of welcomes. A fantastic room - huge, modern and absolutely immaculate. Ate in the pub at night and the food was fab, so we knew we would be in for a great breakfast! Breakfast is brilliant: a great choice for meat eaters and vegetarians alike! The service is excellent, as good as any of the hotels I have stayed in. Thanks to the manager for the chat! We loved our stay and would definitely return.

Stayed here for the second time. Room was excellent - quiet, clean, good facilities and comfortable bed. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent. Very good value for staying in central Ilkley. Highly recommended.

Stayed last week while visiting my very ill grandmother. Travelling from abroad, I called to explain that I'd be checking in very late and was told that check in closes at 10pm. So Tony, the manager, stayed up late after hours to help guide me into getting into the hotel (he had left a key). Was an exceptionally kind gesture and exemplary service. What a great guy! Room was very nice and a great breakfast to top it off. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent place to visit, would highly recommend the Bed and Breakfast. Rooms were superior quality and the beds and bedding super comfy. Room and bathroom was spotless and well equipped. Staff were friendly and helpful. The inclusive breakfast was excellent and the atmosphere in the bar in the evening was friendly and inviting. We will certainly be returning to this beautiful location, perfectly situated in the heart of Ilkley

Joseph, the bartender was the star of the show. Such a happy chappie. He gave us a lovely welcome to the place. Food was amazing and very good value for money. We will definately return as we're locals and will be great to visit during the winter months.

Lovely atmosphere ruined by ‘Joe’ the bar man. It was a shame, I had a nice experience with my friends and sadly he took offence to a video I captured while attending the bar, 3 Morettis and an invite to leave. Don’t go if Joe is around.. P.s the video was of the ceiling. Sad really. Good experience otherwise.

First time visitors to Ilkley, and what a beautiful place it is. The Black Hat is ideally situated but doesn’t have its own car parking facilities which isn’t an issue as there’s a very large car park right behind the premises. The rooms are very clean and tidy and are furnished to a very high standard. There’s an amazing beer garden to the rear, and the tunes which were playing were superb. The bar has a great choice of reasonably priced beers and wines, with a good choice of food. Special thanks to Joseph, for looking after us by bringing our drinks outside rather than us queue at the bar, plus he was great at helping us reserve our food as we wanted to eat later. Thanks also to Jack for cooking the biggest breakfast I’ve ever had and to Rea for cleaning the rooms and looking after us during breakfast. Highly recommended for a visit!
