A nice bistro in the center of the village. Very nice staff, you can buy here a wide range of products from grocery to souvenirs.

A:lovely place with very nice lunch options. Very Friendly and clean. The shop next door offers the most you need on the island. A nice drive up to Berneray and further to the Eastbeach. Pretty little villages or houses. Colours of the water unbelievable.

Great that this little bistro was still open as many other local facilities all closed at the end of September. Great choice of lunch dishes, fresh local lobster a bonus . Coffee and cakes also available. Staff friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a stop off here.

We stopped here for a late lunch, on an unassuming Saturday amid the drizzle. So glad we did! The lovely waitress recommend the lobster hoagies, and they were outstanding! We decided to share a portion of chips, even though neither of us are particular fans, but these were absolutely the best chips either of us had had! Decided to push the boat out by having a couple of glasses of Prosecco too, coz why not? Sat there, using the WiFi, with our lobster & chips, hearty hoagies, fizz & fortitude, feeling like absolute champions! Delicious coffees to round it all off with too. Highly recommend 👌🏽

Wow..... what can I say about this place. We went for dinner and lunch. The menu is to die for and the staff are so friendly. On my first trip they had the wheelchair ramp ready for me and couldn't have been more helpful . The shop is well stocked and they even had a vegan magnum ice cream...I am slightly allergic to milk etc so for the first time in ages I was able to share an ice cream with Clare. Can I suggest that the bistro maybe looks at a vegan/dairy free ice cream range aswell,this would be a great addition. Booking is advised as this place is so popular and you can see why. Brilliant x

Fabulous lunch here. We hadn’t booked and turned up at lunch time. We were lucky to get a table so I’d recommend booking! The staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient. The food was served quickly and with a smile, which is always nice. We had lobster roll and a smoked salmon, lemon and dill brioche, along with some fries. It was all very fresh and delicious. As an added bonus, they also served local gins! All in all, a brilliant, impromptu lunch.

First trip to Berneray, sunny day & abfamily ice-cream stop at the Berneray shop/bistro. Unfortunately no ice-cream on the cafe menu, so a quick stop at the shop. 4 ice creams and £30 of wee bits and bobs later, we sat out in the almost empty outdoor cafe seating area to enjoy our frozen treats. Almost instantly we were very rudely advised that unless we had purchased at the cafe we could not sit at the outdoor area. We took our Berneray shop purchases and sat in the car to eat our ice creams before heading home. Really disappointed as we had heard many nice things, a policy rethink would make this a much nicer experience.

Easy to book and with a great, friendly welcome. The food was excellent, decently priced and was also served quickly. The staff were friendly and readily on hand to help with refills etc. The only issue we had was listening to other customers moan about getting a cheaply priced take away coffee and expecting to also use the restaurant facilities. Some people! We will be back!

Apparently ordering oat milk makes you a problem customer. Spent over £20 on coffees from the shop as dogs not allowed in cafe which is fair enough. Surprised and disappointed to be told abruptly to leave the outdoor seating area due to the price difference between the shop and the cafe. The outdoor seating was completely empty. No service with a smile in this establishment.

We went into the sit in coffee area and were told to go into the shop to get our coffee and a person of our family ordered an oat milk latte as we got our coffees back we walked away as our friends were in line behind waiting to order as we left she said to them 'anyone who orders and oat milk latte is a problem' after that we weren't too bothered but we went to sit on the outside tables and were told to get off because the sit in price was different to the takeaway price which was ridiculous as they told us that we couldn't sit in, would not recommend stoping here as they were rude and unwelcoming.

Simple in style but not in terms of cooking. A balanced menu with lots of choice. Everything beautifully presented. Artwork on the walls. The attached shop was open as long as the bistro was serving.Just brilliant.

We stopped while cycling the Hebridean Way. The food was good - we had baked potato and soup and cakes. The service was friendly. The adjoining shop sells a small selection which is useful for campers.

We were told the fish and chips would be good and they were truly the best we’ve ever had any where. Highly recommended. Good value pleasant environment with lovely artwork. Genuinely friendly and cheerful staff who couldn’t have been more helpful.

Waiting staff were rude and overheard swearing about our group arriving without booking a table. Only wanted teas and coffees. Made to feel unwelcome and awkward when a few of the group wantws to drink their drinka bought in the adjacent shop at the outside tables. Not a great hebridean welcome. Dissapointed.

We popped in here for lunch on a sunny day and we were so glad that we did! We had the chicken shawarma wrap which was super tasty and not too heavy considering it was a hot day! The service was wonderful and even though they were quite busy, they couldn’t do enough for you! The little shop alongside the cafe is also great!

For the UK Berneray is pretty remote so finding a place with this quality of food is amazing. Lovely surroundings, good atmosphere and full at 7.30! Where does everyone appear from? Food was superb in every detail from start to finish. Not overpriced either.

Miserable 'welcome' when we arrived, waitress was muttering under her breath about table reservations. Also in the time we were there she was rude to another party who arrived late and to the other waitress for getting the table number wrong. Not a pleasant atmosphere....

Although it is the only place to eat on the island it is a super place to eat, offering coffee and cake, breakfast rolls, lunch and evening meals. Our meal was tasty and there was plenty of choice, not just the usual offering.

After a long walk we visited the Berneray bistro for a coffee and we were delighted what was on offer. The coffee was excellent and the quality of the baking was first class as was the service.

The food at the restaurant was good. However, our entire experience was marred by the rude manner of the lady serving us. Due to personal issue we were 5 minutes late to our booking and she immediately scolded us upon entry. When we apologised and confessed it had been a “hard day”, she snapped and told us it had been a “hard day for us too”. The atmosphere could have been cut with a knife as we were the only people in the bistro. She continued to make rude remarks despite ordering starters, mains and desserts - 5 young women cycling the Hebridean way. We observed the waitress was polite to a family that arrived later in our meal and as 5 women in our 20s cycling the Hebridean way, we felt very unwelcome.

We visited 5 times during our stay on North Uist and Berneray. Twice for coffee and cake, once for lunch and twice for dinner. Great food and friendly service each time. Hope to return one day and will recommend.

After a cold and wet day, the old favourite was just what we felt like and, as it happens, the Bistro do theirs extremely well and the fish is local in any case! The octopus and chorizo followed by Hake on the second evening we ate here were both superb. The cooking is top draw while service and surroundings extremely genial. Definitely recommended!

Very handy to have the Berneray shop and resturant. It's about 2 minutes drive from the ferry terminal. I always use this shop when passing through.

Had to wait until they opened at 10am for breakfast, but they make a good egg roll and decent coffee! Friendly service. Shop looked well stocked. Very handy for the ferry pier.

Not the best start to our trip on Uist. The food was good / fine, watch out for the red-haired waitress... We bought two ginger beers from THEIR shop then proceeded to order £15 lobster salads. At no point were we offered drinks so we opened our ginger beers. The waitress ran over and scolded us publicly and said why are you drinking these you can't drink these here! We told her we bought them from your shop but for them this was a massive problem. She eventually told us we'd opened them and sulked off. It made us feel very uncomfortable and ruined our lunch. It's not like we didn't order anything and the drinks were bought from them, they also didn't offer us drinks! She also made our other table feel uncomfortable as they order coffees to her dislike. Everytime someone came to the cafe (it was full) she'd loudly exclaim and point at my friends "some people only have coffees and they'll be gone in 5 minutes!". Not very welcoming given this it right by the ferry port and your first port of call on the island!

Great find! Make sure you drive only the short distance from the ferry terminal to visit here. Sat on the balcony in the sun and enjoyed the nature surrounds. Delicious food. Good local alcohol selection! Good service... And a well equipped shop for supplies. Thanks 😊
