A good cafe for breakfast and lunches serving basic fare ( everything with chips !) and home baking. Open from 8.30 am until last food orders at 3 pm. I had a bacon and black pudding roll which contained a substantial slice of Stornoway black pudding. Waited 20 minutes for it despite the cafe being almost empty. The cafe has an outdoor deck with views over the sea and it is adjacent to the Kilbride campsite. It has free WiFi.

Handy little café not too far from the ferry terminal, with a lovely view and atmosphere. Great coffee and cake. It was also very useful to see the upcoming local events pinned up on a noticeboard - and this was up to date.

Fantastic cafe! Food was spot on. We had lunch and breakfast there. The staff were fantastic as well. We were tight on time for breakfast as we needed to catch the ferry. So we had breakfast to go. We booked a table as there were 9 of us in the party, and turned up at the cafe in plenty of time. We were pointed to two small tables which had been pushed together in the corner. There were only 5 chairs at the tables, so my wife asked the waitress if we could have additional chairs, so we could all sit down. Maybe expecting everyone in the party to be able to sit together was a mistake. She was surprised to get the response " too difficult" from the surly waitress, although , what was too difficult wasn't specified. We are now having a lovely lunch in am politician, which seems to have a good chair to table ratio.

Excellent place to eat. We visited twice during our trip and would've visited again if we had more time. Fantastic vegan choices (i had the Moving Mountains burger with skin-on chips and salad) and my partner had a double chorizo burger which he loved. There's even home made ice-cream for afters as well as home made cakes and scones! Lovely atmosphere and an interesting exhibition on the walls.

Visited this cafe for a quick bite to eat but it seemed to take ages to even get in the door to get seated as you had to wait outside until a staff member showed you to your seat. Then we got shown to a table and had to wait again for a staff member to come over for our orders. I opted for a panini with cheese and ham and got asked if it was brown or white panini I asked for brown bread pot of tea and other order was just a cup of coffee. When my order arrived it had magically went from panini to brown bread toastie! I didn't complain as by this time we had been waiting so long I was just glad to get lunch of any kind. I found the staff to be very young and immature and they seemed to prefer standing behind counter laughing and joking with the kitchen staff. I was not impressed. There was only 2 other tables with customers besides us and service could all have been done much quicker and then they could have got back to their laughing and joking so much sooner! It is a nice cafe on a lovely campsite and hostel and the servers are letting this place down.

I had seen recommendations for gluten free and we enjoyed our lunch. Great location with a lovely seaside view. Staff were friendly and helpful in checking gluten free and to ensure no cross contamination. I had a great tuna toasted sandwich on gluten free bread and a portion of the most amazing chips , after staff confirmed they were gluten free , My husband had a burger and chips and equally enjoyed his meal. Very clean restaurant and good covid procedures in place. We really enjoyed our lunch and would certainly continue the good recommendation.

Walked here from Eriskay with intermittent heavy rain, hail and gale force winds. Arrived at midday to be told they only had one serving of the soup of the day (lentil) so we bequeathed it to one of our party. Myself and another had the back up option which was tomato and red pepper which was delightful. The coffee and the victoria sponge cake were also produced to a high quality as well!

Really want to give this place a good review as the location is stunning. Sadly, the service was awful! Drove to the local shop to get cash as the cafe is cash only, only to be told they were not doing any hot food. We then ordered two drinks and two sandwiches which took an absolute age to come. People who ordered after us were brought their food quicker. The two drinks were pretty much slammed down in front of us with no smile or hint of friendliness. Shame the service doesn’t match the stunning location.

We had breakfast here when we got off the ferry from Barra and before we checked into the campsite. The food was lovely and the staff were very polite and helpful. There is a notice on the door saying that dogs are only allowed on the terrace. This was ok as it was sunny when we arrived and ordered. But this is the Outer Hebrides and within 15 mins the sky was black and the rain was pouring down. We then had to put our dogs in our campervan and leave them (which I would never normally do) while we wolfed our breakfast down and raced back to them. I totally understand that not everyone likes eating with dogs nearby, but the cafe is large and I am sure an area could be put aside for customers with dogs. It is such a shame as the cafe is fabulous, but it must lose a lot of trade on the many days when it is not warm enough for customers with dogs to eat outside. There are so many people with dogs walking and camping in the area that I was really surprised with the decision of the owners to exclude dogs.

On the way back I had the tomato and pepper soup which was delicious, we both had the fruit loaf, and yes it was excellent too. The sponges in the cabinet were huge and so light looking. The views are brilliant too with the ocean right across the road from you. Don't drive past this cafe.

Service was friendly and fast. Food was delicious and well presented. If only all remote cafes could do it so well! Others should come and see how well it can be do when you put just that little bit extra into such a venture. On route to the Eriskay ferry. Go out of your way to stop and tarry...

Simple, light and lovely building near the campside with the same name. Honest food. Home made. Toasties, smoked salmon mousse and home made oatcakes. Freshly made coffee. Even the americanos are less watery than else. Shy but friendly daughter of South Uist behind the counter and arty farty stuff in the windows sills. While you are there visit the neighbours for quirky woolen hats and sweaters.

Café was very busy when we were there but waitress did her best to give us good service. Decent menu for a café and food was good. Even had gluten free bread. Nice view of ocean at front of building. Good family place.

Posticino molto grazioso per fermarsi a degustare una buona colazione se si approda sull'isola con il ferry la mattina. Locale bello, personale gentile e cibo buono.

This cafe was a new discovery for us - mainly as it has only been in existence for a couple of years and our previous visit was back in 2014. It has a superb view over the sea towards Eriskay and Barra, with outdoor seating for when the weather is suitable for eating al fresco. Lovely inside too, with super snacks and a great cup of coffee - all served by some lovely young people - in all very good value. We recommend very highly.

Don't be mislead by the name 'Bistro' and the pictures about the café and the menu including cakes and seating areas. It is not a bistro any longer and you must not stay inside. We mistakenly rode here (by bike) way before the ferry would depart to have a break in the 'bistro'. However, they only sell snacks and coffee to go. As a consequence, we had to wait 3 hours outdoors (the ferry terminal waiting room offers shelter as alternative). The shop and the lady running it are nice though!

came for drinks at this interesting pub, didn't eat but saw the food coming out which looked amazing. Enjoyed the interesting history surrounding this pub.

Mac and cheese, whilst nicely served lacked flavour… no salt and pepper on table. Waitress delightful. Partner had the steak, nicely cooked, asked for mustard… none available.

What a great visit! Smooth and flavourful coffee, amazing range of attractive baked goods - I went for the red velvet blondie - and a friendly welcome too. Busy little place, seemed to work for families as well as me with my book in the corner. Thanks so much.

Just what the doctor ordered. What a welcome sight it is when driving over from Lewis for the first ferry to see a van selling hot coffee and bacon rolls. Check sea conditions before over-indulging.....
