Four of us had an early dinner and had a great time. The food and service, by Aimee, was very good. We couldn’t fault the experience

We went as a family for a birthday celebration. The service was tortoise like. We asked to order after being there for nearly an hour. We were asked to wait as the kitchen was busy! Only our party and one other in there! Yet ,it said, fully booked in the bar. Definitely wasn't. The vegetarian in the party was served meat instead of halloumi. Our starter was tepid at best and were awful. Our main courses then took another 45 minutes to arrive and were stone cold. We sent them back , obviously put into a microwave and were still cold and by now inedible. Some birthday! Never again. They did comp the food. But as we couldn't eat it , we weren't paying anyway. We paid for our drinks, over £100 . Avoid!

The staff was great and the room was kept clean. It was very convenient for me very close to Thatcham. The food was also enjoyable

visited earlier this week with family on a weekday afternoon, although was surprisingly busy! staff were super friendly, and very welcoming. in general the food was good, looking very impressive on the plate! unfortunately my burger was very disappointing - burnt, very dense, and practically no toppings. desert was delicious, and most the others enjoyed their meal, just a shame the burger really let the whole meal down!

Ok, so they had lagers but all 4 cask pumps were not dispensing and neither was the keg IPA, we had to make do with Madri, which was somewhat pricey at £6.50/pint. We ate and the mixed grill was very good but the smothered chicken was a bit tough.

Great visit as always! The team is always welcoming and the garden is stunning in this weather! We enjoyed a meal under the pergola and we couldn’t fault the food or the service! Thank you so much guys we loved every minute of it yet again! We will be back

The pub gives a really warm welcome along with a good vibe. We were served by Monica who provided a great service and really looked after us! The food was lovely and we had service with a smile. Would definitely recommend.

Where do I start… 1- Very Arrogant and very Rude Member of Staff Not in Uniform.. 2- Cold Roast and absolutely Terrible brought in Frozen Roast Potatoes 3- Some very young members of staff think it’s except able to talk and laugh with above about our experience. SHOCKING 4- Refusing my elderly Mother a smaller portion of a roast dinner due to company policy And make her feel very uncomfortable about it.

I’ve been a local to this restaurant and bar for years, never again will I ever visit the Berkshire Arms after our Easter Sunday Evening Visit. We had a few issues with our roast dinners, including cold, hard roast potatoes and crunchy, gristly meat. This was taken back to the kitchen and it did come back hot but unfortunately stale and hard to eat. An apparent senior member of staff came over and asked “what exactly is wrong with your meals, as you are still eating them?” Unfortunately this one sentence was the beginning of the end, this older, tall, male, member of staff was extremely rude and started arguing back against our feedback, feeling very uncomfortable we wanted to leave and the bad meals were left. Shout out to Tom who did sort the bill out with us and have a chat, Tom was very apologetic. The table behind (when we sat down) was also having issues with food throughout their starters and mains, but before receiving our food (and having many good meals there) we thought it maybe a one off and all ok. One arrogant, rude staff member, changed a polite food complaint into a situation and consequently my last visit and the need for this review.

Madalima is quite simply an absolute star. She and all of her team have looked after me so so well over the last 7 months. I couldn’t have asked for better. Thank you and all the best in your role as assistant manager. You’ve definitely earnt the promotion.

Much improved haven’t been for a while but was presently surprised. Wonderful refurb and the food has really improved!Fish and Chips, Beef Roast & Honey Chicken was all fabulous! Childrens chicken strips was nice but the chickens Rump was not to be desired but the chips were good. All desserts were great! Our wonderful host Mada and Austen were lovely. Really disappointing. I had a starter which was simply revolting. Pork and apple terrine it’s was all stringy and no flavour. My gammon was tough and too hard to cut couldn’t eat it. The apply tart was disappointing. The biggest problem was the staff. Unsure what happened. To customer service but it was appalling. A young lad with his hair hanging all over his face. I would have thought it needed to be tied back whilst serving food. I had a hair in my apple tart which put me off eating anymore 🤢 there was a young waitress who helped clear the table then asked if we wanted the bill. We said not just now. After a few minutes she came back with the Bill and asked how we like to pay. I asked her to please give us a minute. She came back a third time and asked us if we like to split the Bill!! We felt rushed and that they wanted us to leave! In the end we gave in pairs the bill and left.

A great venue with great food, friendly staff. I have been going to the Berkshire Arms for many years and have always been underwhelmed however on my past couple of experiences it has become a lovely place to visit. The food prices well for a chain restaurant and has a great selection to cater for everyone. I highly recommend the Korean BBQ chicken as a starter- 10/10! Will certainly be visiting again soon!

The food was nice and big portions. Why’s I’ve scored a 2 is because nowhere does it say this place is cashless. Covid was in 2020 and yet cash is still refused. If you’re going to be cashless then advertise the fact give people the option before they eat as I would have gone somewhere else where cash was accepted. Very disappointed that you’re controlling how people spend their money!

Booked the Berkshire arms for my husband‘s week. Arriving after the service, no staff there to greet our guests. In fact, staff were trying to give my guests menus for meals tea’s and coffee and food had not been laid out. We were just left waiting. Having been in hospitality myself for over 25 years, I found this to be very poor service.. also, we had arranged for the TV screen, so that photos of my husband could be shown, this did not happen.. I admit I didn’t say anything on the day as I was already upset and costing over £500 I was expecting better.

We went to the Berkshire arms yesterday for Sunday lunch.My husband is not a big eater and has ALWAYS ordered from the kids menu before but was told that he couldn’t because the menu was only for children 12 and under but could have a light bite . After looking at the kids menu it does not say anything that it was only for children 12 and under . When our food arrived it was lukewarm and the roast beef was 2 slices of fat , not at all nice , when the waitress collected the plates l said that the beef was very very fatty and all she said was well it’s sometimes like that . The food on the whole was not as we usually have had here before so unfortunately will not be returning anytime soon I do appreciate that it was a busy Sunday l am a caterer myself and know what it is like when busy

Booked for family Sunday Roast, was after 3.00pm so not really in the busiest period. Once the food order was placed we waited ages for the food to come out, the adults food came out first, despite the waiting staff holding the plates with tea towels the food was surprisingly luke warm, presentation was great and produce was fresh and tasty but not warm at all, about 10 mins after the children's food came out, this was piping hot. Usually aren't children served first? To make a 3 and 1 year old wait and then their food be too hot to eat for about another 10 minutes isn't acceptable resulting in the parents food being even colder by the time they dealt with their children. Myself and my partner asked for a side to go with the roast and had to chase this up. We let the staff know our food was cold but didn't send it back as didn't want to wait even longer to have it changed as we had waited long enough and were starving. We were offered free deserts as a gesture of goodwill. The whole service was slow and we spent longer there than initially anticipated, then the cheek at the end as we were finishing up and getting ready to leave a waiter came over albeit apologetically to ask if we could leave the table asap as they had to get it ready for the next booking!! He offered for us to sit in the bar but we declined as we needed to get the little one home.

We had a very relaxing time, great food and very good background music. Everything was just right. We can't fault the place nor the staff. Such a warm and welcoming place. 10/10

Both hotel and pub/restaurant staff are amazing. I stay here regularly for work travel and choose to stay here specifically as the staff are fab. The rooms in the hotel are comfortable modern warm and have everything you need. Small things like hairdryers, ironing board and iron are provided in every room. All rooms are finished ti a lovely high quality and the rates are extremely affordable. The restaurant/pub staff are always friendly smiley and remember you which is such a nice touch. Always take good intolerances or allergies seriously and the food is such great quality at lovely reasonable price. Cannot fault. Parking is easy to navigate and free. Nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast variety is wide but not too overwhelming and the quality is as impeccable as the dinner / lunch offerings. Absolutely recommend.

This restaurant has an extensive menu, including a generous one for children. We started with a shared chef's board which was an excellent mix of items. A number us of were pleased with the wild boar sausages and mash as a main. Desserts were excellent. Service was prompt and friendly.

I would like to highly commend Maria at the Berkshire Arms. On Christmas day she went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. We left the pub with the best impression due to her excellent customer service, effort, thoughtfulness and kindness. We are enormously grateful to Maria for making sure our Christmas outing was special. We would like to mention Madelina as well for also offering superb quality of service and attentiveness. My Daughter’s 18th birthday meal, was very well accommodated by our server Joshua. Food was amazing!! Price wasn’t too bad, daughter did take advantage of being 18 though and had a few jägers which bumped the bill up lol. Definitely recommend for anyone! Also 100% be returning. I have visited this location on numerous occasions and always been impressed with services offered. Hotel accommodation is always clean and well kept, beds are comfy and staff are incredibly accommodating. I have also visited for drinks and dinner, service is always exemplary and food delicious. Daniel and Tommy are particularly hospitable. Would highly recommend and will be visiting again soon.
