This has become a new family favourite, for the genius reason that as well as decent curry, they also do good burgers via their Smashed It burger place. I can get food for the whole family at the one time. If you want a burger but instead of chips, fancy some bombay potatoes, then why not. Have only collected so far but the food is usually ready when I arrive. We have started coming here for burgers since Smoque went down the toilet.

I ordered a very simple north Indian dish and the taste of that was awful, it wasn't even close to the actual dish so, I called them and the behavior of the manager or owner was even worse! He was extremely rude and ill mannered.

Great App for ordering- even let’s you specify a time. Staff always friendly and polite. Have had some great curry’s from here in the past, but sadly on my recent experience I ordered something different than I usually do - a king prawn masala. It was not good. Sauce was bright luminous red and tasted so sickly sweet it was almost inedible - only managed to eat half. Nothing like the Masala’s I have had before. Prawns were rubbery and there were only about 5 of them. I will try here again but will stick what I usually order - update to follow.

I have been looking for a new Indian takeaway and having been using Bengal Spice for a few months now and I cannot complain. The food is always piping hot and delivery is fast. My go to used to me Wildcard Mango until I found a nail in my food. Then I started going to Balti House until I saw one of the waiters drop a fork step on it and put it back on the table. Also they sometimes serve in cracked plates.

OMG. What has happened to bengal spice. The last meal I had from here a couple of years ago was more oil-slip than food. Ordered not expecting much better… Collected my meal. Food was super fresh and amazingly tasty. No oil !! and generous. This is without doubt a 100% improvement. Definitely going to use Bengal Spice as my go to takeaway curry house in Burgess Hill.

The food was delivered hot. Very good value for money But most of all it was the tastiest I've had in this area! Will order again.

I ordered a meal for one after a recommendation from my daughter .I had chicken bhuna which was delicious and had a good amount of chicken . The onion bhajis were really tasty too. The food arrived in good time and was still piping hot .We always order from the same curry house but I am glad I tried somewhere different and will definitely order again !

Absolutely incredible. First time using Bengal Spice and I can honestly say hands down, best in Burgess Hill. Our currys were full of flavour, packed with vegetables and the meat was falling apart. Couldn't fault them at all. Well done Bengal Spice, I think you've just got yourself some new regulars! We'll definitely be back!

Great little curry house. They do a set menu option which is really good value, curry of your choose, a saag aloo side, an onion bhaji, popadom and mint sauce for about 12/13 quid. I had a tikka masala and it was cracking. Would recommend to anyone and would definitely visit again. Top nosh.

Ordered a takeaway from Bengal Spice and it was the worst curry any of us have ever eaten. There was not even one part of the meal which was alright. We ordered completely different curries but they were all the same sickly sweet, bright yellow sauce mixed with different ingredients (spinach, chicken, etc). The meat was dry, overcooked and looked completely unappealing. The sauce was absolutely revolting and so disgustingly sweet. It didn't taste anything like what a curry should and my hubby couldn't even finish his. I only finished my because I was starving after it arrived more than an hour late. It's a shame because we have only just moved to the area and this is the first meal we've ordered here. We won't be ordering again

This has been our preferred Indian takeaway for the past 8 years. The staff are always helpful, and the meals delicious.

I used to hate indian. Would never be my first choice... But omg this place is amazing never had a bad meal only stunning. Even my 8month old loves it. We are pretty much regulars now. I would highly recommend the lamb biriani And keema naan and my partner loves the garlic chicken tikka. Best takeaway and staff are friendly and helpful every time

I ordered from here as they had the shortest wait time on deliveroo. The food was so sweet it was actually inedible. I called before leaving a bad review just incase there was an explanation. The guy on the phone was rude, spoke to me like I was stupid, told me I'd ordered a sweet dish (Tikka Masala) I've ordered this in several other places and I know its definitely not supposed to be as sweet as syrup. He begrudgingly sent a replacement, I asked for plain tandoori chicken as he couldnt do a Masala that wasn't sweet but he said no. He said he didn't have to replace it at all so he would send what he wanted. It did arrive quickly but nobody spoke to me, was just left on the doorstep. It said chicken bhuna on the lid. I would think a bhuna from anywhere else would probably be too spicey for me but from here it was ok, like chip shop curry sauce but with lots of onion in it. The sagg paneer was also like syrup and the bhajis edible only around the edges overall even with a replacement and not eating the sagg paneer the little i did eat of the Masala has left me feeling sick. Would definitely not order from here again, just incase that wasn't clear!

Last week Thursday I was in Burgess Hill and was craving for a curry, found this place and they did not disappoint, the lamb bhuna was so good and tasty, the keema rice was on point. They gave papadom and their mint sauce is one of the best I've had. Great food, friendly staff. If in Burgess Hill ever again, will deffo order from their again.

Our favourite Indian! We order from Bengal Spice at least once a month and have never been disappointed. Food always arrives at a perfect temperature, the quality never fails, it tastes amazing and the customer service at the door and on the phone is always bang on! Lovely people and an overall brilliant service! Highly recommend!

I ordered aloo gobi, Chana masala and vegetable bhaji. They are only starters but big portions so will have for 3 dinners. I’ve been searching for food similar to what I was eating when I was an au pair with north Indian family 18 years ago and found it after years of searching and just round the corner to where I now live:)All Indian restaurants I tried so far were rubbish. Greasy food, food not looking clean and the taste was just not good. This is not Indian but the food is closest to what I had back then and simply delicious. Heaven in your mouth! Even naan bread is sooooo so good. Really happy I found this restaurant !!!! People who gave one start I truly believe must be fans of mcdonalds and don’t know what good food is. They forgot to put naan in the bag but once I called them they delivered to my flat 5 min later and gave me free papadoms for waiting . Thanks a lot. You just won another happy customer who will order from you very soon:) it was my second order this month and both orders were delicious. Your korma was divine!!!!!!!

They forgot my Naan tonight which I am very sad about but mistakes happen! I love this place. They have a brilliant app you can order from and I love their food. I've never had a bad one. The Bhindi Bhaji was particularly good tonight, thank you. Top class establishment, I would recommend to anyone.

Had a couple of takeaways from here, over the past week. The first one was ordered by somebody else, so not sure exactly what was ordered, but it was ok, so decided to try them again. On both occasions the service was exceptionally good, with both staff members I dealt with being extremely personable, polite and friendly. The premises also appeared well-decorated, very clean and tidy. The food though was unusual, to say the least. The Tandoori King Prawn was served in a spiced gravy, swimming in onions, as opposed to the more usually found dry, perhaps with onions and a bit of garnish. The prawns didn't have the usual pink hue you associate with Tandoori and there was no evidence of them having been marinated in yoghurt. The overall taste wasn't unpleasant, but was nothing special. The King Prawn Dhansak was also a bit of enigma in that it didn't appear to contain any lentils, which is weird, as they are intrinsic to a Dhansak. They may have been ground, but that is equally weird. The sauce was hot, without being sweet, which is another intrinsic element of Dhansak. Again, it wasn't unpleasant, but not at all what I was expecting. These might be regional variations on what I'm used to, but they are so unlike what I've had at most restaurants/takeaways, I feel it might be more helpful to rename them. The Stuffed Paratha and Aloo Saag, were as expected and ok, but the poppadums were the best I've ever had. So, overall great service and a nice establishment, but disappointing food apart from the poppadums.

I’m Anglo Burmese and have eaten curry all my life and I’m in my 50’s. I probably eat a curry with my family at least twice a week and certainly have had 100’s if not 1000’s. Tonight we ordered a delivery for a celebration and I/we weren’t disappointed. The mains were delightful and full of eastern spices/flavours that everyone commented on. We ordered Chicken Tika, Chicken Jalfrezi, Chicken Rogan Josh with Dahl, pilau rice, saag alo, onion bhaji, popadoms and mint yoghurts. The delivery was on time and less than 30 minutes from point of order. The staff were polite and knowledgable and cannot recommend this take away Indian any higher! Well done - Highly Recommended 10/10 Finally I can also recommend the lamb/chicken Ceylon and the Madras.

Ordered a takeaway online and sampled a few dishes. The online ordering was easy, the food arrived on time, and all the dishes were delicious. Will definitely be a returning customer!

Used to live in Burgess Hill a few years back, and delighted to see that they have opened another branch in Uckfield where I live now! Would defo recommend!

We came across this small takeaway on our way home and my boys commented their Chicken Tikka Masala and Peshwari bread are much better than the Indian Takeaways in our area. The Madras was tasty and flavoursome. Poppadoms were very crispy with tasty sauces Staff were helpful and knowledgeable with their menu. All together a good customer experience.

Disgusted with your behaviour and your responses to customers. Not to mention watery curries. Go to Wild Mango if you want a decent curry, bursting with flavour and excellent customer service. If you want to see proof of the owner of this take, literally read the reviews of this restaurant on just eat.. shocking.

On 19/02/2021 I ordered a takeaway from the BENGAL SPICE in BURGESS HILL. I left a review for the order as I am entitled to do. The review awarded four stars (rated good) for food quality, three stars (rated average) for delivery time and only awarded one star for customer service, this was due to the fact that restaurant does not give smaller items such as a poppadom or a mint sauce as complimentary with the order. This is something that I have found common practice with other Indian restaurants/takeaways I have ordered from within the area. On the morning of 20/02/2021 I had a bang at the door and answered to see who it was. It turns out to be the owner from the BENGAL SPICE who stated he was here to ‘confront’ me regarding my review and why I felt it was acceptable. I explained my opinion and that I was entitled to leave a review based on the experience I had. He stated I had left two other negative reviews in the last eighteen months. The first was approximately 18 months ago when the BENGAL SPICE refused to deliver my order as they ‘wouldn’t go to HAYWARDS HEATH’ and then also refused to issue a refund. I decided to give them a second chance and the second review was for the same reason regarding the lack of customer service in relation to the smaller complimentary items. The final third review was posted a year after the second. When attending my property in his red Vauxhall he decided to ignore the buzzer system and instead gained entry by a communal trades entrance before banging on my door. I feel this was so that he could not be turned away and shows he was intent on this confrontation. The male identified himself as the owner of the business and refused to accept my point of view. He then continued to slander other local Indian takeaways insisting he had ‘value’ to his. I informed him I did not feel this was an appropriate ‘essential’ journey as per the Covid 19 regulations and he immediately dismissed this. I said I would raise the point further at which point he began swearing and calling me a ‘grass’. He could have contacted me by phone, email, postal services or replying to the review but once again clearly he wanted a confrontation. The issue has been raised with Sussex Police and also log numbers obtained for both the aggressive demeanour and also the breach of Covid 19 regulations. In addition, it has also been raised with the Just Eat service and is now facing an investigation by them. Furthermore, I have now immediately purchased and installed CCTV cameras covering the front of the property and also the rear parking/communal area to prevent a repeat of this situation. This situation left me feeling vulnerable and at risk and is entirely unacceptable of a business owner to feel this is the correct response in any business situation. I am not sure if this is his usual business practice as I feel this would be even more unacceptable if this was to be done to elderly or vulnerable customers. I’m sure the owner will leave a response to this review again however is probably just annoyed that he now faces action from Sussex Police for his actions.

We will only ever go to Bengal Spice for our Curry takeaway now! Staff are friendly, food is delicious and on time, and portions are generous.

I've eaten in pretty much every Indian takeaway in Sussex,east Sussex, south of England and other areas I've never had chicken like this before was it frozen or cooked in a bag definitely not cooked like the other restaurants I've been to I've eaten once doubt I'll try again sorry

Thought I would give Bengal Spice a try, waited 2 hours for curry to arrive, food is flavourless, watery and very disappointing. 100% will never order from here again, far better takeaways in Burgess Hill.

Ordered for the first time this evening was told there would be a wait but food arrived in reasonable time the food was delicious, will definitely order from them again. The delivery driver was compliant with social distance knocked on the door and put the bag down for me to bring in. Good value for money.

Food arrived after about 40 mins, not bad for Saturday early evening - seems some previous reviewers had a bad experience but this was our second time ordering from here and never had an issue. Chilli Paneer was nice and hot and spicy, but could have done with more paneer! Biryani and Madras dishes were just right. 10% discount for online orders as well, will use again.

I’m lost regarding negative comments about Bengal Spice .! Moved down here 4 years ago from London . But lived in Bradford 20 years . I know what a decent Indian tastes like and this is one of the bests . Tried many in the area but by far the food does not compare to any restaurants in this area of taste . And all dishes taste individually . A loyal customer. Who word wise especially through these difficult times support a true local earning business my neighbours friends work colleagues. And Myself who work in healthcare thumbs up 👍 to you 👍

Ordered a takeaway indian meal nothing to fancy and should been easy for accomplished indian chef. Unfortunately was without a doubt the worse indian meal i have ever eaten, swam in grease. Not much flavour, the dish i had was supposed to be tomato based. One quarter of a tomato , neither were enjoyed by recipients wont be going there again.!

I'm a friend first and a curry reviewer second, which is why I love to pair the two together. I thought tonight would be a solo review, covid19 has really made its mark on the restaurants in my area; a larger than life town to the east of ditchling and on the south side of cuckfield, near to Goddards green, population 35,000 and counting, I wont name it but essentially it's hassocks on steroids. Anyway my regular curry troop and I were hankering for another fix and wouldnt let this wretched lockdown interfere. Not one to flout guidelines, we utilised technology in the form of a video conference to meet, chat, laugh (and bloody hell did we laugh). As ever, I'll cut straight to the chase, the curry. Not ordered by me I might add, but a gift from one of the troop. Very thoughtful of my chum, so I named every individual chunk of chicken, there was Ian Thorpe, Karen Pickering, and my personal favourite Michael Phelps. Just as well they were named after swimmers, because the poor buggers were drowning in sauce. I'll be back, but next time I'm wearing armbands. MadD

Delivery was over one hour late. Management rude and unhelpful. Food Standards Agency Rating of 1/5 (Major Improvement Necessary). They’re not wrong!

Horrendous. Had a delivery from here, extremely greasy, turned up nearly an hour late (no apology) by which time I was so hungry I had to eat it even though the chicken had a very unpleasant taste to it. Well now I wish I hadn’t, I was up all night with a stomach ache and nausea. Obviously out of date, bad hygiene or not cooked properly. Disgusting. Will NEVER use again, especially with so many great Indian restaurants and takeaways in the area.

Really nice curry except my husband ordered king prawns and they were tiny! When you pay extra for them they could be a decent size! Saying that everything else was fabulous!

Good takeaway - very tasty food. All dishes delivered as described in a decent time. All the dishes were tasty and the variety on the menu was excellent. I will be ordering from here again.

Disappointing food, very cold when it arrived. Lamb very chewy and chicken overcooked. Was quoted 35-40 minutes for delivery on a Thursday evening, called after an hour to be told it would 'probably' be there soon. 1 hour 20 minutes later it arrived. Poppadum's missing and also rice missing. Called to complain, no answer. Emailed the next day to give feedback, no answer! AVOID!

Returned to ordering takeaways from here after a few years elsewhere. Food remains great with plenty of flavour. Unfortunately, the amount of meat in all dishes is pretty small. Disappointing when having something like a Chicken Shaslick. If this was improved then definitely 5 star for food, flavour and service.

Our food was a little late, which we got over, but my chicken korma had large bone in it and our naan bread was stone cold and raw... Disappointing because normally good curries

Ordered a couple of times from Bengal Spice. Never a problem. Food was again good, ordered the set menu for two.Ordered through Just Eat which went through fine. Added a garlic naan to the order. Food arrived at the time which we'd picked after the kids were asleep.But we were missing the bhajis and the extra naan. Rang them up and the chap was apologetic and got them sent out. But of course we'd eaten the rest of the order so I was forced to have them for breakfast in the morning. No harm done, just wish the items had been checked before sending.

Nothing special, but the food was, mostly, pleasant enough. Other members of my group said the food was nice, but I had a chicken tikka balti which was waaaaay too spicy, and was in a very sloppy sauce that was a weird red colour. Didn't look like a balti, nor taste like one. Wish I'd seen the previous review mentioning the same issue! The mushroom rice and onion bhaji was fine. I tried someone else's chicken passanda which was OK too. There are much better curry houses in Burgess Hill,including the one a short walk up the road... Should've gone there.

Disgusting. Balti chicken was like soup, and ridiculously over-spicy. Korma had a layer of orange oil o and a top and again was hugely spicy. No lemon with onion bhajis. Naan bread was doughy and undercooked. Chips were greasy stodgy and undercooked. Rice was cold and chewy.

Anti Social Business. 4am in the morning and the business is used as a halfway house for taxi drivers. No consideration for the neighbourhood.

Ate here last night with about 22 friends in a party. The place was heaving with every seat full the whole evening and there was plenty of takeaway service as well. Normally when I pass it is not so full and is a place to enjoy a quiet meal in comfortable surroundings. However last night it was buzzing with conversation and laughter and the windows were obscured in condensation in no time. We did wait quite a while for our meals and this was probably our fault as we should have pre ordered with hindsight or just got a few more people together and taken the whole place over for the night and arranged a simple pre set meal. However this was soon forgotten after a few Cobra beers and tons of poppadoms. Once the meals came they were piping hot and my biriani was more than ample and tasty. Of exception was the peshwari nan (coconut) which was the best I have ever tasted - pilowy, soft, cooked just right and hot with plenty of coconut inside. The prices here are very reasonable and the staff are obliging and friendly. If you want a simple and consistent meal at an extremely reasonable price without having to get the car out (if living in Hassocks) then this is a great place to come.

Another great meal from Bengal Spice. Ordering from the app is easy. Constant updates on progress and never a late delivery. A good idea to book your takeaway early at the weekend as they do get busy. Definitely recommend.

Just recently moved in the area and had the family around for the first time placed an order over the weekend and they were tremendous, I am vegan and they accommodated my needs very well, as I can be very fussy when it comes to food. They whole family loved it! Top marks guys, will definitely be returning!

Chicken vindaloo came with undercooked chewy chicken that tasted like it has been defrosted and was full of water.Rang to complain and was sent another meal which I can only describe as water gravy like substance with what looked like left over bits of chicken.To give loyal customers sub standard food with no care if they liked it or not is not a good move as the customer is king and words speak volumes.....Avoid this place at all costs unless of course you don’t have a palate and are homeless and eating your own leg would be more tasty!

We thought we’d try this takeaway as it was recommended by a friend as our usual one had closed.first three takeaways were good but last night was absolutely bad!!!One meal was cooked properly but wasn’t quite the proper dish as ordered however my wife’s meal was undercooked so badly she couldn’t eat it at all.When we complained they sent another meal to us but this time it was a completely different dish that tasted like some sort of horrible gravy.the chicken was not up to standard and was in fact disgusting as though it was just just picked out from the dustbin to say the least!!!!!!!!Absolutely useless restaurant that are totally clueless how to run a kitchen or deal with complaints.....I would’ve expected a total refund really as the whole thing was chucked up ..luckily we didn’t chuck up ascirpt was disgusting!!!!!!!Will never use again....they don’t take any pride in the business

We always get our takeaway curry from here and I can’t say we’ve ever had a bad one, staff are always polite, food is always yummy, it’s very reasonable and I’ve never have to wait too long for delivery either. Definitely recommend, one of the best Indian takeaways in town.

Yet another lovely takeaway, lovely blends of flavours, polite, friendly service. Only time we had a problem, when wrong dish supplied, a replacement was sent round ASAP. With prompt delivery what’s not to like.

We moved to Burgess Hill in June and since then have had shamefully over 10 takeaways from Bengal Spice and tonight was just as good as the first . Excellent quality and friendly staff. Many Thanks

had a takeaway from here last week , the food I have to say was very good , good portion sizes and very well cooked and spiced , delivery was quick also for a Friday evening, well be using again

I have used Bengal Spice on several occasions for takeaways, the food is always tasty and well prepared, and the portion sizes are very good. Slightly on the expensive side but the food is delivered very quickly.

Thought I would give this place a go after seeing wed eve banquet night for £10 on local site. Big mistake , had korma and I hve to say worst I have ever had , watery no flavour had better from a jar!! Wil never use this place again, save your money and go elsewhere

Ordered at 6:30 for 8 no food. Called to complain manager offered to fight me? Don't go here. Abusive and rude. Disgusting service.

Just had a chicken biryani, excellent taste and they even gave me free papadoms! Highly recommended!
