Lovely birthday experience for mum thanks to the attentive and friendly service from staff. The food was yum and to top it off mum was given a complimentary brownie board 😄

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, hotel was very quaint. Staff were friendly.Beds were so comfy, cool shower room. Breakfast included in the room price and was a great choice of options and great service. Full size gin left in the room which was an added bonus. Free onsite parking. Only downside was room very warm but when windows open the fan noise on roof was very loudWould stay here again in the future

Had booked a table outside. Slightly windy on the day (c10 mph) but not rough conditions, and got called on the afternoon to be offered a choice of cancellation OR 2 tables close by inside (against the spirit of covid rules). Chose to cancel and had to find somewhere else last minute, but ruined a retirement event. Do not recommend

This was my first meal out since lockdown, and it was just as lovely here as always! I had a chicken milanese with chips (covered in parmesan and truffle oil - possibly the best thing ever!) and a rocky road brownie for pudding. This had a lovely salted caramel sauce with it, and a salted caramel ice-cream which I wasn't so keen on - it tasted a bit too salty for me. I'd still order it again, but I'd ask for a different flavour of ice-cream! Really well organised and run for these post-Covid times as well.

Its a really nice place, great spot and easy parking. Staff were wonderful. The food was "nice", but nothing special. Kitchen service exceptionally slow. Perfectly acceptable venue as an evening out though. HOWEVER. The prices are far too expensive. £9 a starter, typically £18 for a main etc..... Having just booked an evening meal at a top hotel that has been in the Michelin guide recommended every year since inception and their dinner menu is a little less expensive than that.Its time for "gastro pubs" to get real on pricing.

It's definitely worth the 5 stars. We had cocktails and nibbles. The cocktails were strong, delicious and definitely worth the price. The food was so tasty and well presented so a massive thank you to the kitchen team. The staff were lovely we were served by Gemma and Lara and Sophie made the drinks. A massive well done to all the team. I had an amazing time with my friends and will definitely be back again. Would definitely recommend trying it out!

How anyone could give this establishment anything but a 5/5 is completely beyond me. The service was impeccable, we were never left wanting for anything. The waitstaff was insanely friendly and we felt a great rapport with all those serving us. The food was fresh, tasty, and fun! Finally, the hand soap in the bathroom smells amazing, make sure to smell it and use some of the lotion too!We cannot wait to go back!Thank you to the team for such a wonderful experience.

The experience started with friendly service to show us our table. The alcove where we were seated and very high restaurant ceiling were ideal to make fell secure in a Covid setting. The salmon and beetroot starter was delicious, the lamb steak was cooked just as we like it and all was delicious along with the excellently presented vegetables. The dessert and wine were also faultless. We must go again - Covid willing.

Great bar with a roaring fire. Covid compliant. It was quiet for a Friday, but nevertheless we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Great food and staff. Nice separate dining room, and unrushed service. Would definitely return.

We stoped here while on a canal boat. The lock keeper suggested it. We moored up and walked into town, then came back and had a lovely meal with cocktails. Our Waitress Gemma was great. The food was served quickly and was really tasty. We had a great couple of hours before returning to the canal. Would I go there again.. definitely ax it was good value for money and the atmosphere was perfect.

Having spent Saturday 31st October at the Roseate Hotel in Reading and not being very impressed with Dinner or Breakfast. we booked for Sunday Lunch at The Bel & The Dragon Reading .Sunday lunch was excellent. Food was well presented and staff were friendly and attentive at the time of booking I did not release it was part of Fuller’s portfolio”on the 10th October we had previously booked a room & dinner at the The Swan Hotel also Fuller’s . A 16th Century hotel in Staines, that sits river Thames where the food was also delicious. well done the The Bel & The Dragon Reading . And well done to Fuller’sI would definitely return to The Bel & The Dragon Reading. and look forward to trying more Fuller’s establishments,

Food was okay, nothing to wow you. Disappointing compared to previous visits. Staff was exceptional, very good at covid precautions and very focused on making your experience a good one. 5 stars to the staff. Food was just not worth the price point.

Went for Sunday lunch and it was excellent. Food was delicious and wonderfully presented and staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. Well done to everyone from the chefs to front of house. We’ll definitely be back soon.

El personal fue amable, profesional y atento a la llegada y durante toda la comida. 6 de nosotros disfrutamos de una variedad de entrantes y platos principales: el pescado y las patatas fritas, el pato, el supremo de pollo y los ñoquis estaban muy bien presentados, sabrosos platos en porciones de buen tamaño. El personal estuvo más que feliz de traer un pastel de cumpleaños que habíamos hecho en lugar del menú de postres y luego sacó una copa de champán y algunos brownies como un gesto extra de felicitación de cumpleaños.Nada de lo que solicitamos fue un inconveniente y siempre fue recibido positivamente.fue una noche estupenda

Hemos estado en un viaje en bote de 2 semanas por el Támesis y almorzamos aquí la primera semana y cenamos y almorzamos la semana siguiente. La ventaja fue poder amarrar nuestro bote afuera y pasar la noche la segunda semana. El personal es muy amable y eficiente y el gerente, Dan, no podría haber sido más acogedor y su bonhomie impregna el ambiente. Comida deliciosa también, me encantan los camarones con palomitas de maíz.

Llamamos aquí para ver si podíamos conseguir una mesa para un refrigerio del almuerzo del domingo y una copa de vino. Dan, el gerente fue muy complaciente, nos sentamos adentro junto a la puerta abierta. Mucha ventilación. Me sentí muy limpio y seguro. Teníamos mejillones, burrata, tomates y pan. La comida fue increíble. El Rose estaba perfectamente helado.

Al decidir dónde celebrar mi cumpleaños, no pude pensar en un lugar mejor que este pub. Tiene las mejores hamburguesas de Reading, sin lugar a dudas, mientras que el resto de su menú rota y cambia y ofrece un alto estándar de calidad (incluso para vegetarianos) que pocos otros pueden igualar. El restaurante en sí es hermoso e impresionante en el interior y pintoresco al aire libre, mientras que las opciones para los niños (y la capacidad de entretener a los niños) también están muy por encima del promedio. Hoy recibimos la más cordial bienvenida para el almuerzo, y el resto de la comida siguió su ejemplo. Nos detuvimos en nuestras vacaciones en barco por el canal sin prejuicios. Las impresiones iniciales fueron realmente fuertes, y cuando llegamos a la entrada, el gerente nos reconoció de nuestra reserva (una pareja con un niño de 5 meses en un cochecito y un perro). Me senté en un rincón espacioso y encantador, con un plato para perros preparado. Comí mejillones y luego cordero (delicioso), mi esposa tenía pescado y patatas fritas (igualmente delicioso). El personal de espera fue muy amable y atento. No podría recomendar lo suficiente.

I came here for some cocktails and nibbles with a friend and we were so impressed with everything from the drinks to the beautiful outside area by the lock, it’s perfect for drinks in the summer!The staff were so attentive and friendly which really made our day, would definitely recommend this place, thanks guys!

We found every part of the experience fantastic. Booking - The manager was a huge help and very sensitive to how anxious we were visiting during covid. Arrival the restaurant had planned for safety really well and although they were cautious they made it feel welcoming. The menu provided great choice and the food was delicious. The quality was far higher than I expected, the presentation was also great. The staff were really conscious to keep distance and not touch any items that a customer would be in contact with. The restaurant has implemented a one way system to keep everyone safe during their visits too. The front of house were all knowledgeable and gave great advice around the menu, they also added a really thoughtful touch to help us celebrate a 40th which was really appreciated. All in fantastic.

Booked online for lunch today,no email confirmation, but we were expected when we arrived. Location, setting great and staff are friendly and helpful. The downside is the food quality is not matched with the price. So while enjoyable I have tasted better for similar prices. Would I go back - I would like too but the food quality and price needs to change. With a reduced menu due to Covid 19 (which is fine) you would think the food would be much better than it is.

Lovely atmosphere and good service however I think 10% service charge is plenty not 12.5%. Food- the muscles are amazing and came with a water bowl to clean your hands and then it goes down hill from here. Mushroom tortellini was cold with undercooked pasta not nice at all. Posh fish and chips I would not recommend, the chips tasted burnt but hard at the same time, it was just unpleasant to eat. I can only assume the food was ready to come out of the kitchen when we were not. I got a feeling they where hovering over our table waiting for me to finish my starter to get the main out I asked for five minutes because the muscles are filling. So I think in future I wont order my main until I've eaten my starter. Chicken supreme was delicious however its roasted chicken on a plate of what looked like frozen vegetables, doesn't come with any sauceRoast chicken dinner- chicken was good, roast veg was just ok with a tiny pot of gravy so we asked for more the second pot of gravy was very salty Is a nice place to sit and relax for a few drinks but I think the food has plenty of room for improvement.

You are treated to wholesome presentation of food bistro stly warmth but without the fine detaill of seasoning. Service was excellent, and cuteous let down by the pricing.Chicken Milanese & Fried Hen’s Egg is priced at £18 on the menu & receipt , but in reality is £16, inc VAT and excludes £2 (naturally ex VAT) Service charge - none of these prices are displayed on the menu

My son booked a table to celebrate officially gaining the title of ‘Dr’ (PhD). We had or booked our food due to the party size of 13 people. The service was friendly. Food was great - big potions.

7 of us for lunch on a Saturday. (I updated the booking 3 times from 4 to 6 to 7 as the numbers increased). I made a note on the booking that we were celebrating our twins 21st Birthday, and we were pleasantly surprised to be seated at a table in a secluded area nicely decorated for a birthday celebration. The service was excellent, and warm and friendly. Everyone enjoyed their food, which was all very good. There wasn't anything that jumped out as extraordinary, it was all just simply very good. As a big surprise. We were all too full for dessert, but they still brought out a birthday surprise FOC for the birthday girls. (pictured x 2). Great experience!

Very disappointing !! It was our 20th Anniversary so hubby booked a table for 10am so we could have a lovely breakfast together. 1st don’t serve alcohol at that time so no bubbly to celebrate. 2nd ordered breakfast didn’t even look great and it came with black pudding which we don’t eat for religious reasons even though it isn’t on the menuI was told it was but I checked and it wasn’t if it had of been we would have asked for it to be removed. No real apology!!3rd we were only there for about 1 hour, in that time 3 different people served us which could happen if it was full and busy but we were the only people in there. It’s not cheap so just really disappointed Emailed restaurant about this more than once but still haven’t heard anything. In a world of respect and allergies menu should be better!!

Fab location and great service and drinks. Food was good too although pies were served without vegetables. Also kitchen closed at 3 pm so we had to rush to dessert.

Although we did not eat on this visit the menu looked varied and interesting the restaurant offer daily specials. We had two very ordinary coffees costing total £6.00. I used a contactless payment and therefore did not study the receipt until we left the restaurant. Beware there is what is described on the bill as an “Optional Service Charge” of 12.5% which is added automatically at the till two coffees there cost me £6.75. I even had to go to the bar to order the coffees. Shame.

We visited the Bel and The Dragon in Reading by the river for a works party.A good time was had with all with tasty food (though a little luke warm at times - my Haggis), especially the delightful squid starter. Good selection of food and drinks.Only issue was the service was a little tardy at times - especially waiting for food.Free car park - though time limited!Relatively easy to find - though take care if you are walking as there are no street lights!One to remember for Reading.

Has to be the best local in town, a true hidden gem. The service is always top notch and nothing is ever too much trouble. The bar crew are brilliant and shake up some fantastic cocktails, all props to Josh, Perri and Sophie. Have eaten here a handful of times and the food has always been on point along with service with a smile.

Friendly service and a warm welcome, the beer was good and the menu was interesting. I had the duck shepherds pie which was lovely. I look forward to coming back

6 of us decided to have Sunday lunch here today. Started well with drinks at the bar . Starters were nice two of us had the roast dinners but waited for gravy to arrive. Finally asked for it but it never arrived nor did the water we ordered. Finally asked again if it was actually included with the roasts which it was. Did you not get it ? No but it’s too late now as had pretty much finished but couldn’t eat the Yorkshire pudding because it was dry without the gravy. Asked again for the water but that still never arrived. Got offered a free pudding for the two people but really wasn’t planning on pudding. £360 for 6 of us so not cheap. Overall food not bad but really let down with the poor customer service. Shame

Great location by the river Kennet in a tastefully renovated industrial setting (part of the Victorian Huntly and Palmers biscuit factory). The service was friendly, attentive and efficient. Great atmosphere and great food. We've had dinner at the Bel and Dragon several times over the past few years and have never been disappointed. Highly recommended.

Just got back for the most amazing weekend here celebrating my future sisters hen party. We hired out the bel for the day and honestly couldn’t have wished for a better venue, better staff and better accommodation. Nothing was too much trouble! We spent the day time doing lots of crafts and all the staff were on hand to help us with anything we needed. Huge shout out to Perry and Sophie who ran the most AMAZING cocktail masterclass for us! You girls are super stars and made the evening so fun! Thankyou so so much for all of your kindness and hospitality. The food was amazing- so big thanks to the chefs too! Rooms were fab! I honestly couldn’t fault anything! Really wished I lived closer so I could come more often! Thankyou again for everything!

Went here on the first Monday of the year, as you can imagine it wasn’t busy. Ordered for two including wine. Service was slow, but it was early so we let it be. Had to ask several times to order our food.

Wouldn't bother coming back if our custom is just to be rewarded with an even bigger bill a few weeks later. The staff spilled drinks onto guests and the food was dry, we were even told to connect our phones to the Bluetooth speakers if we wanted music!

We stayed as it was near the town centre and had car parking. We were greated by a lively member of staff, who made us feel relaxed straight away. After taking our overnight bags to the room, we ate a Sunday roast meal in the Restaurant. Once again the staff were first rate, looking after our every needs. The food was excellent, all meat and vegetables cooked to taste. They also had a good selection of drinks to suit all choices. We also had a deliciously cooked breakfast in the morning. The room was brilliant, with en-suite shower, large bed,warm room, tea and coffee machine. Thank-you to all the staff involved in making our stay a wonderful experience.

Tuvimos una estancia familiar de fin de semana aquí (reservamos 4 de las 5 habitaciones) para una graduación universitaria y lo pasamos de maravilla. El lugar es muy conveniente: estacionamiento gratuito y una caminata rápida de 10 minutos a pie del centro de lectura, pero escondido al lado del canal. El edificio es peculiar y lleno de encanto. Gran ambiente en el bar, habitaciones encantadoras y muy espaciosas con baño privado, excelente comida, atendieron a veganos, vegetarianos y alergias a nueces sin problemas, y un personal fabuloso; Todos fueron muy amables y parecían muy felices de trabajar allí. Mención especial al fabuloso "frente de casa" de Tommy que, si aún no es una leyenda en Reading, debería estarlo antes de que termine el año; encantador, divertido y un placer charlar.

We came across Bel and Dragon by chance while searching the internet for somewhere to eat. We arrived early and had a drink at the bar before going through to restaurant. The place is converted biscuit factory situated on a canal - the decor is cosy, yet has industrial feel. The food was just perfect and we spent happy couple of hours slipping into food coma. The staff is friendly, but the new manger deserves special mention; he want out of his way to make our dinner enjoyable and even afterwards helped us to find town centre for some night life. All in all, Bel and The Dragon is definitely place worth a visit.

I tried to ring a week but no answer so resorted to email. I wanted to book a table for eleven people. Three days later my email was answered, requesting we pre order and pay a deposit of £15 per head. Did all the above.

I went for my birthday drink with my sister last weekend. It's a really relaxed atmosphere with a classy shabby chic vibe. One of the bar ladies went out of her way (completely genuinely and eager to help) to give us taxi and after-bar options (not many it turns out, in Odiham!) and when I accidentally lost my driver's licence down the back of the sofa, the wonderful Andrew posted it to me the same day I called them in a panic about it. The drinks aren't the cheapest around but it more than makes up for that in good vibes and friendly, lovely people. Plus, I hear that their food is next-level. Go there.

We booked for a Saturday night after a friend's anniversary party locally. We arrived early on the Saturday afternoon to check in and had lunch in the former biscuit factory, quirkily converted into another of the Bel and the Dragon chain. We previously stayed in the Kingsclere branch and became instant fans! I had an excellent burger and my wife had a Caesar salad. Very tasty!

Came here on a Sunday evening and it was pretty quiet. Food was nice and house wine was surprisingly nice. One thing I thought was strange was that when you pay by card, the waiter enters the total amount including the optional services charge (which was fine) but before you type your PIN in, the machine asks if you want to add a further service charge...

Have visited several times and this restraint has consistently delivered delicious food. Great ambience and friendly staff.

Food was at a really good level but the service was atrocious. I had to prompt the waiter numerous times with what we might need, e.g. cutlery. £130 later for 2 people and no one asked at any stage how was our food.

I’ve been four times now in the hope the new team (as I was informed by the manager about 9 months ago) would have cracked the service. But no! Another disappointing visit. They forgot the starter, bought out the main and then asked if we still wanted the starter...?! Slight attitude on some of the team and almost every person that came to our table differed from the last. No consistency....apart from poor service!

Our party of 12 visited Bell and the dragon for a 70th birthday dinner. As some of us were travelling from Devon the table was booked for 8pm. We were sat promptly however it took 40 mins to have our drinks order and food order taken after we had to approach the waitress. When the drinks arrived the waiter dropped the entire tray of soft drinks over my 9 year old and 11 year old, not only soaking them but covering the area with broken glass. Although the waiter initially apologised it appeared more important to continue to serve the other drinks. Some 15 mins after placing our order we were told 2 starters were out of stock and to choose again. When the starters arrived one was missing, again it took us prompting to ask where it is before being snapped “I’ll check, it’s coming” 5 mins later the waitress returned and snapped again “ it’s being plated now”.

The food was delicious. The service friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was relaxed but still well organised. The evening was a great success. Thank you from Table 10.

We found this venue a very chilled, unusual and lovely. The service was great and they were so helpful. It is priced very well and the surroundings were great. I would highly recommend it.

Bel & the Dragon is a small chain and this branch is hidden away in a rapidly redeveloping part of the town, behind some retail parks in a lofty old warehouse building. The food, drinks and ambience were all pleasant, but it was on the expensive side even for posh pub grub; at least they had a choice of real ales, Staff were friendly, but perhaps that because the pub was almost empty so they had plenty of time to chat.

The address tells you that you are heading for the chic, regenerated part of Reading, the former industrial area around the old Huntley and Palmers factory and alongside the canal, its main artery. It's a shame, then, that the ouside terrace views are somewhat compromised by the large dining barge, presumably used for functions. Inside, there's some moody, velvet decor and a large bar which is probably atmospheric of an evening, but a bit gloomy for a sunny lunch.

A group of 4 of us dropped in on spec for a mid afternoon meal. The food and service were very good. Whitebait starter in particular was lovely. We had various mains between us, all of which were good.

Been many times and usually good but on this occasion not so. All 4 mains were sent back: mussels not open, steak over done and ham and egg stone cold.

We were celebrating a special occasion and a couple of the party had been here before, so we figured we'd give it a try.

Excellent for a nice Sunday roast. Really cool setting. Good service. Terrific wine. Highly recommend. Not the cheapest Sunday roast. But worth the upgrade from time to time versus ordinary pub Sunday roast.

Brought my parents here for lunch mid-week. Service was fine. However, I ordered the Asparagus, chargrilled broccoli, and lentil salad. This is how it is described on their summer lunch menu: "Asparagus, Charred Broccoli & Lentil Salad, Red Chilli, Quinoa, Basil"

I booked the barge for my colleagues and myself. We had dinner and drinks with the barge all to ourselves as there were nearly 40 of us.

I discovered this gem of a hotel / restaurant by accident some months ago when trawling the internet to find a nice place to break our journey back from Heathrow after a long flight.

My wife and i returned here to see if the food had improved after a disappointing meal about a year ago, we do not normally return to a restaurant where the food was disappointing.

After my last rather damning review I said that I would return. This time it was on a very sunny Saturday and we ate outside. This caught the management on the hop as they hadn't expected to be serving all over the place. If the young man who served us had not mentioned it we would never have known as everything went perfectly.

Fantastic ambiance and food! A restaurant I would love to visit again soon. We just had a few starters to share, as well as a glass of wine. As I said.. I loved the ambiance and would love to come for a 'proper' dinner.

La carne de la ensalada de pato estaba seca y dura; la suela de limón era muy ósea, las papas fritas estaban quemadas y el sabor del aceite para freír no era fresco. El brownie de chocolate era muy dulce sin ninguna tuerca. Helado de vainilla y café capuchino estaban bien. El filete de ternera medio bien hecho resultó ser raro con sangre.

Comida cara! ! ¡Tenía mejillones como entrante que estaba acompañado con una rebanada de pan tostado seco que estaba recocido! Esperaba un poco de pan crujiente fresco y cálido como se indica en el menú. Pateo para el plato principal: un pequeño trozo de carne que se cortó en rodajas que perdió su calor, y las papas asadas estaban tibias y viejas, ¡no estaban nada frescas! ! Realmente decepcionante. 12. 5% agregado sobre el que pagamos sin darnos cuenta después. ¡Muy mal! ! 153 para una comida realmente decepcionante. Hay mejores lugares para ir, así que me temo que no volveremos por esos precios.

I can not pick fault in this beautiful establishment we book to stay here and eat dinner in the restaurant to be told they do a deal on Sunday if you spend £100 in the restaurant you get your stay for free great. So i ordered for starters fennel and lobster soup and my husband ordered mussel and for my main i had suckling pork roast hubby had beef roast they are worth every penny such beautiful flavours cant believe how great for money it is staff couldn’t possibly be any more helpful great place totally recommend

We went in having been shopping nearby for a drink and a bite to eat. We ordered drinks, then asked for a menu, was asked “ a food menu” “yes I said”, the waiter languished over to the main Serengeti area for the restaurant, pulled something together and brought it to me. 5 mins later went to the bar to order and was surprised to be told having consulted a colleague, “sorry but the kitchen closed at 3 pm”. Nearly made a scene but as it was only 315 and only wanted a sandwich thought they might have made an effort having given us a false impression we could get food. So 2 bags of crisps and a quick drink left. Would not have minded but heard the manager saying it wAa slow lunchtime and sitting near the bar where a waitress was crushing ice in a noisy machine for 15mins.

Had a business diner with a group of colleagues and we will certainly never come back here.

I had dinner here with my wife on a random Wednesday night,the service was very good. there were some not so good parts, the food was very average, i had fish with a cheap tesco style sticky chilli sauce. they also like to add a 12.5% service charge to the bill (asked this to be removed which they did without question)

We booked for 12 people. We were advise that over 12 people we would require a pre order. On the day we ended up being 17 people. Some turned up late. Some ordered late. We had lots of children in all ranging ages.

It was a wet nasty evening and my wife and I felt like going out to have a good meal.

Dined with colleagues this week; we had the squid, olives and whitebait to share instead of starters - all good. Mains were good, with additional salad and chips. Chips were a bit dry, but plentiful.

Excellent meal had by all in this spacious old revamped warehouse with high ceilings down by the rivers edge. We had the pork sharing plata for 3/4 people for £59 in total with came with all vegetables, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pud. There as far too much for 4 and would have fed at least 6 adults as we took home half of it in a doggy bag. Definitely worth a try. Easy access for buggy’s and wheel chairs but parking is limited when busy. Would really recommend. Please like if this helped.

We had a large birthday party of 14 Adults / 6 children on a Sunday afternoon (4.30 pm).

We popped in for a drink on a cold day. The cream teas they were serving looked too good not to try them. I can honestly say I have never tasted just delicious scones. All four of us agreed they were heavenly and promptly ordered some more.

We had our wedding here on the 9th March and it could not have been more perfect- the staff were amazing in making sure everything was as it should be ( Jen in particular is fab!)

Sadly disappointing. As with previous reviewer we would not recommend. Food over priced and staff weren’t too friendly. Other tables were offered a bottle of tap water and both menus. Offered neither. Won’t be going back.

Unfriendly staff, and for the price the food wasn’t great. Very overpriced, wont be recommending. There are plenty of better restaurants in Reading, no wonder the place was empty!

We hosted our Quarterly Achievers Lunch at the Bel & The Dragon last Friday afternoon. The team really enjoyed themselves. The ambiance was great and the team had their own area within the restaurant - which for a large group, was fab! We had your set menu, which went down a treat with the team. Thank you for having us!

I celebrated my birthday again this year at Bel and the Dragon, Reading. We returned because everything was so perfect last year. All the staff make you feel special and go out of their way to be helpful. Unfortunately, I live 40 miles away, so do not visit regularly, but it is always my choice for a special occasion.

Haven’t been to the Bel and Dragon for a while but will definitely go back. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was pleasant. A lovely relaxing lunch and a place I’d recommend

On the night of the 15th February I took my fiancée out for dinner here. It was superb! The staff were caring, friendly and officiant without being invasive. The food was beautiful and the wine and cocktails were superb. It was in a lovely secluded setting by the Canal. Would have no issues recommending the place and will definitely go back again.

Visited with my wife on Valentine’s Day and have had 2 days of stomach issues... and the food was also average - no shank in a lamb shank, sauce is much better at Zizzy. Only starter was good. On top of this, it is quite pricey for the quality and taste of food. Will not visit ever again!

Had a good time with a group of my girl friends celebrating a 50th Birthday. Nice ambience, interesting artefacts to look at and a good location next to the canal. There was a band playing in the other side of the restaurant but we were there to chat and catch up with each other.

It was a celebration and a long boozy lunch was in order.

Beautiful pub with great food overlooking the river. Local ale on tap, loads of character. Food is superb, not the cheapest but not trying to be. Quality. Great for a nice classy evening dinner.

Celebrated my wife’s birthday and made to feel special from ordering drinks at the bar until the end of the evening.

This restaurant is now part of Fullers chain and has a really interesting, nice menu with good range of choices. We had shoulder of lamb, coq au vin, venison casserole and suckling pig. All were very good . However the device was haphazard. Not welcomed on arrival, very slow to take orders, exceptionally slow to bring drinks, waitresses seemed to chat to each other and ignore guests. I am sure Fullers management will sort this out in time. Nice ambience and great potential.

Interesting restaurant converted from a former municipal sewage pumping station, overlooking the Kennet. We went in for an ad hoc family meal with our 12 year old daughter. We'd already enjoyed pleasant service and some very nice starters and mains when the (lovely) waitress offered us the dessert menu.
