The Griffin in Reading

Lucian was very kind and supportive of food choices. He was very pleasant and we were able to have banter with him. We were shown to our table straight away on arrival. He gave us time to look through the menu. Food order was correct and very tasty. He came over to see if all was okay with our meal. Lucian knows his job well and carries out his role brilliantly.

Very pleasant pub restaurant. 5 friends dining with four meals excellent. However one guest found the Toad in The Hole below standard. Served in a bowl , slushy mixture of cabbage of cabbage & potatoes on menu as bubble & squeak. Yorkshire pudding swamped in gravy. Certainly not a traditional Toad in the Hole. In addition a disappointing vegetable soup lacked good flavour served with a ver thick oversized piece of bread. Very disappointing.

The Griffin has got a nice location with parking, very good seating both indoor and outdoor. Lucian was an attentive and friendly host. I would recommend to anyone in the area.

Came here the other night for a birthday meal, and everything was perfect quick service and Megan was our waitress and she was very good with everything couldn't fault her. Made sure that everything was okay with our food whilst eating.

We booked for a leaving meal for a well loved stsff member. There was 13 of us and we were served by Bonnie. She was great very attentive and although busy, served us our drinks and food in good time. Everyone enjoyed themselves and the atmosphere was great. Will def be going again!

I went to the Griffin for a spot of breakfast. I was served by Dan who was a breath of fresh air, and was very pleasant aswell as accommodating. Food was good for the price point. Overall very happy. Lovely atmosphere and above all the customer service was exceptional.

Después de una caminata de cumpleaños muy larga y caliente desde Goring, estábamos encantados de llegar finalmente a The Griffin. Aunque habíamos reservado, elegimos sentarnos en el jardín para disfrutar del día soleado. La lima y el refresco eran refrescantes, y la hamburguesa Signature era súper sabrosa. Gritar a Dan que era paciente mientras todos pagamos por separado y rellenamos nuestras aguas! Muy recomendable!

Updating once more, as an ever changing story at The Griffin, mostly down to food experience. Firstly, the staff are always great. Just eaten, and James (head like a sieve, hopefully I remembered name), was really polite and efficient. Nb I have felt sorry for Chef & Brewer staff taking vouchers, but pleased the QR codes now work. The food can vary. Duo of Chicken was a little dry, as needed more sauce/bigger portion of kimchi. Madam likes gravy, had to order two extra pots for Bourguignon, as quite small. Fish and chips had nice batter. It is a lovely pub with a nice atmosphere. Decor gives a 'local pub feel'. The outside area is really pleasant in the sun, but is ALL SMOKING despite the small signs saying otherwise. This could be upsetting if you don't smoke and want to eat outside.

The breakfast was a bit disappointing. Scrambled eggs were over cooked and appeared to have been cooked in the microwave, fatty bacon, stale bread and Avocado did not taste good. Service was great and we've eaten here at other times and the food has been much better.

The food standard at the Griffin has improved since Christmas and today we enjoyed pork roast and 3 meat roast thoroughly. The only downside is that the ceilings are low so was a bit noisy but pleased to see it busy. Great value

The food and service was impeccable. It's a must go to for anyone. It had a lovely atmosphere and kind and friendly people I will definitely want to come again . First time visiting the griffin, about 5 minutes in myself and my boyfriend said how lovely the waiter was and how great his customer service was! Served quickly, Food came quickly, drinks came quickly and it was a busy evening! Lucian was brilliant, experience certainly enhanced by his service tonight. Thank you lucian!

I recently attended a funeral wake hosted by the Griffin and was so impressed with the service and food. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was absolutely delicious and the portions were of really generous sizes. Every member of staff was polite and professional, they obviously love their jobs which comes across. Special mention and thanks to Lucian who ensured we had everything we needed from start to finish. Superb service which made a difficult and sad day that little bit easier. Thanks again.

Lucian was an absolutely fantastic waiter for my long overdue catch up with friends. The food, atmosphere and drinks were excellent.

My friend and I come to this restaurant every few weeks for a catch-up, and Megan is a big reason we keep coming back. She’s absolutely fantastic—always friendly, attentive, and nothing is ever too much trouble for her. She even remembers the little details about what we like, the wine and cheese!! Megan truly goes above and beyond, and her warm, welcoming attitude makes the dining experience even better. We can’t recommend her enough!

We have eaten lunch here several times now and always a good experience, especially the friendly and efficient service (last time from Esra). Tasty food, menu has plenty of choice depending on how hungry you’re feeling and includes vegan and vegetarian, tables aren’t too crowded. Babies are welcome, and dogs in some areas. Toilets are clean at this time of day. The staff are lovely.

It’s our first time at Graffin had a Sunday roast, food was delicious!! Serving was brilliant, Esra was amazing who look after us.

It was lovely there. The atmosphere and service just amazing and Seyna was really nice and friendly. We loved all of that.
