Sadly, this Beefeater is closing down. The food wasn't so good. I had lasagne, which was all burnt to the side, and underneath and hubby's peas were cold and hard. We complained, they surpassed themselves by offering a free pudding of fruit salad, which was banging! The waitress was a credit to the restaurant. Shame she will have no job!

We spent the night at the premier inn and booked breakfast at the Beefeater. What a disappointment! 1. Fried eggs were undercooked and swimming in grease 2. Scrambled eggs where swimming in water 3. Sausages were overcooked and burnt 4. Bacon was undercooked. 5. Extremely slow turnaround on continental food items. Service was extremely slow and when all of the above was mentioned to one of the managers the response was, "Well no one else has complained, go speak to the premier inn. Where you booked the breakfast" My daughter then went up to ask the chef 'Manager' for a croissant and his response to an 8 year old was "You have to wait a while" The whole experience was way below par, poor food and either overworked or just totally rude staff. Would NOT recommend. Don't waist your money.

Only recently rediscovered Beefeater, was something we'd go to on special occasions as a kid; been very impressed with how well the meats are always cooked in the mixed grill, always juicy, never dry, steak always matches your request. Unfortunately, we were informed that they'd just been notified they're all being closed on 5th of July, with the Cheltenham location being the only one that's staying open. Presuming this is just the operations area they're in, rather than the only one nationally, but well be a shame to see them go under the big reorganisation that's going on in the Whitbread network.

Apparently they didn't have many chefs, so were only accepting pre-booked guests. We live an hour away and popped in after a long morning shopping so were very disappointed... the restaurant was almost empty too! I don't see what the difference made being pre-booked or not... they must have been accepting very few bookings in that case! Also would have been nice to have had a sign on the door stating this to save the embarrassment inside and disappointed children.

3 of us arrived at restaurant at approx 1630hrs wed 15th may.. restaurant was 95% empty we waited to be seated, no one came,so we sat at a pleasant round table which could seat 5. A male person came to our table and asked as there was only 3 of use could we use another smaller table. When I said we would like stay on this pleasant table as the resultant was vertically empty, I was informed a bigger party may come in later, when pressed the person informed us this table was reserved !!. No reservation notice on table,As we were looking forward to having a steak we reluctantly moved table. After sitting on new table for 15 mins no one had come to our table, so we decided to leave. As we were leaving we noticed 2 waitresses stood by bar talking to each other, one made a half hearted effort to approach us. If Beefeater is trying to attract customers in during this quiet time with offers, perhaps the staff should be informed that happy customers are the aim. We walked to another close restaurant where we were greeted at the door and asked where we would like to sit on any empty tables no matter the size of the table. We had avery nice meal and left a tip, we will go back again.

Great service, I was staying opposite at the Premier Inn, I came in for a drink after a long day and the staff were clearly very busy but attentive and made sure I was looked after (Jo and Summer). In addition, whilst sat outside next to the canal, a member of staff was on their break and approached by a member of the public, unsure and slightly distressed by something they had seen, he helped and reassured her and she seemed happy when she walked away, really nice to see (asked at the bar and it was Luke). We had breakfast on two days, first one was on a day that apparently they were short staffed, there were lots of tables that had not been cleared with food all over the floor. No cups available for teas and coffees either. The food on first day was average at best, cold plates, bacon was cold although under a heat lamp, black pudding was dripping in oil, inedible. The scrabbled eggs were swimming in milk, but apparently cooked to the guideline, under cooked poached eggs, even though cooked to order. Second day things were a bit better, although no fried eggs readily available, and no croissants or panne o chocolate. The gents toilet had a water leak which did not appear to have been dealt with over the two days.

Pretty bad experience. Went for breakfast expecting all the items on the menu. The only ‘juice’ was pineapple juice or cranberry juice ‘drink’ not even real cranberry juice. Not even any water! Yet alone basics such as apple juice and orange juice! We got there at 10 and for the whole hour we were there, there was no croissants or pan au chocolat - 2 staples of a continental breakfast. There was also a table of mugs right in the way that multiple guests nearly walked into multiple times. Don’t even get me started about the toilets, leaking urinals with urine all over the floor and some absolutely disgusting cupicles. Paid £22 for 2 people for breakfast, what a waste of money. Although I don’t expect a lot at this price I certainly expect a lot more than what was on offer today. Staff were great but the management here is clearly awful, only two people on shift, clearly understaffed, they just have to work so hard to line the pockets of awful management!

Went here for mother's day evening and it was like a game of two halves. First off the food was all perfect , not one complaint there and then we get to the service. Bar service was meh and then table service was awful. The starter plates were not cleared away so we had to work around them to have our mains and then when we wanted to order deserts it was near on impossible. We waited and waited and some more waiting till fill we got bored and chased a member of staff down who told us there were only three members of staff on, and she was trying to revise for her uni test and she had to makes the deserts as well as deal with all the tables. Any way the deserts finally arrived and then and only then were ther starter plates and main plates removed from the table. The food was so good and it's such a shame the service let it down

Food was presented very well and tasted great, and the kitchen staff did a great job considering there were only two of them. The staff were polite and friendly, but there needs to be more of them. Three members of staff is not enough, especially for Mother's Day. We still had plates on our table from our starters by the time we were being served dessert, and it took a long time for empty tables to be cleared. Not enough staff to handle the work load; they need an increased budget.

Booked for Breakfast at 9.15 am. On arrival we were given a warm welcome and shown to the dining area. From about 9.40 there was a constant queue for the Self-Service Hot Food. Not the fault of the Chef/Cook - more the lack of assistance she received. Surely someone, perhaps Management could have jumped in to assist in preparing the food. Help finally arrived, I think, at about 10.10 and that was for a short time. It was probably busier than usual being half-term? But couldn't fault the food or vast selection offered.

DON’T BOOK HERE!! Went for Sunday lunch to celebrate my sister’s birthday. They didn’t tell us, when we arrived, that there were no roasts available. Servers were friendly but really slow. Took so long to come to our table, especially to bring the bill, then bring the card machine for us to pay. We had to go looking for someone to ask them to come to our table. To top it off my sister then received a parking fine! Beefeater refused to have anything to do with it. Parking is run by Horizon. They issued a fine saying she’d been there more than three hours but on their own paperwork showed her entry time as 12:55 and exit as 15:15 - 2 hours 20 mins. Not worth the hassle - go somewhere else for lunch.

Parking nightmare. Visited twice (Oct and Nov 23) and logged my car at reception both times which allows for a 3 hour stay. Received 2 parking charge notices afterwards for overstaying the one hour limit, which did, but was under 3 hours. I managed to have one cancelled but the second has ended up costing nearly £250. It’s apparent that the logging system does not work and I spoke with Beefeater staff who didn’t want to or couldn’t help. If you do a Google search you’ll see articles in the local papers and the Daily Mirror where people have been fined for this and the parking company’s (Horizon) appeals process is difficult and theatening.

Our experience wasn't great . We were a party of 6 . Arrived at 8pm , placed our order including ribs . It took 25 minutes for us to be told there were no ribs available so ordered steaks etc . The food arrived at 9.30pm an hour and a half after we arrived , by which time we were starving . We had ordered cocktails only to be told be the waitress that the " barman wouldn't be pleased " that we had ordered cocktails ( well my dear tell the barman that we are the customers , we pay his wages and he works for us not the other way around !!! ) . My food arrived ( smothered chicken ) the salad consisted of chopped lettice . in the coleslaw I found a huge 2cm sharp sliver of plastic , I was gobsmacked , luckily I didn't choke but it was very sharp on my cheek . I was later told that it had come from the mayonnaise bottle ( lovely! ) . Sadly the food was nothing special , pretty much what you would get at a Weatherspoons . The sausages on my friends mixed grill looked anaemic, the steaks were overcooked and well done as opposed to medium rare . On a positive note the issues of late meals and plastic in the food were dealt with well by staff , and they generally came across as helpful and friendly . We were given a discount and my meal was free owing to the plastic contamination. It did feel as though there were not enough staff on the night and I felt our waitress was trying her best to sort things out along with the chef for which I have awarded an extra star . Will we go there again though ? ... definitely not . It felt more Faulty Towers than a resteraunt. Sadly post pandemic we have found it difficult to find any resteraunt locally that has good food and service , sadly this place can be added to the list of a further place to avoid.

So the only thing good about this place is the building…. We arrived and got met by a lady who could not of been less interested we were there…. After taking our order, and waiting what seemed like an age (they were not busy at all) we got given the kids sausage starter - 2 burnt sausages, and not cooked flat breads (which we sent back). Then, 30 mins later we got our mains, which consisted of a lasagne which they had forgotten the meat, a hob salad which was just a mega bowl of lettuce, and a kids burger which was full of grit! Not sure what would make this place better. When we mentioned this to our waitress, she just said oh ok! Then got us the bill. Will make an effort to not go back there again. We were then given 2 small bowls of hot chips - no replacement peas. This whole event took 2 hours 50 mins! (Posted on behalf of my mum) We made the mistake of choosing to eat there and wish we hadn't bothered. The service was poor, the food was poor. I ordered salmon which arrived with skinny fries and what looked to be half a grilled tomato. It wasn't tomato, it was lemon and it proceeded to dribble juice onto my plate which was soaked up by the fries, we all know there's nothing worse than soggy fries! And to make matters worse my tiny salmon and a child size portion of fries (and half a lemon) was £16.49! Him indoors had gammon which is always a safe bet and he enjoyed it. Then we asked for the desert menu, big mistake. There wasn't a lot to choose from and I made 2 attempts at ordering, each choice was met with 'sorry, we don't have that'. I eventually landed on something they did have. So the desert arrived, I say desert because there was only one of them, him indoors scored again with the cheesecake but me, no, my 3rd choice wasn't available either! We paid the bill and left. Even that wasn't easy because to get out we had to dodge through the crowd of around 12 people waiting to get some attention just to get a table. They had loads of tables, just no one available to deal with them. The whole thing was a nightmare, not the enjoyable experience we were hoping for. We'll not bother with that venue again, actually we'll probably not bother with Beefeater again.

Good food, lovely staff, busy but quiet, congenial place to dine out. Thanks especially to our waitress and the young man who cleared the table. You were stars!! X

Popped in here to meet a colleague and had a quick drink. The place was fairly busy and we sat near the entrance Nice light space with a relaxed atmosphere.

Staying in the Premier Inn for a couple nights seeing family, had a great night sleep and came in for breakfast first thing this morning. Servers were fast to get me seated and to ensure I had everything i needed. Absolutely delighted with the option for breakfast, the cook Matthew was very friendly and presented a delicious breakfast. Props to the Beefeater team, thank you all.

We were staying in premier inn on a uni trip for 3 nights so had breakfast here each day. Always a good breakfast, the chef went out of his way to bring food to our table which wasn’t quite ready. Heidi, the server couldn’t have done more, extremely attentive and friendly. The day manager was also really good but I didn’t get his name, great sense of humour.

Recently ate at this Beefeater on a business trip and rated it highly. The chef, whose name I believe is Matt, was very friendly and bought over my poached eggs to our table rather than making me wait in line! Everything was fresh and warm and staff members were happy to help with different queries.

Went here for breakfast as we were staying at the Premier Inn opposite. Huge queue so pointless the hotel booking set times, they had run out of most food so has to wait, undercooked bacon, rubbery eggs, and stone cold coffee from the machine, even after a staff member had fixed it after a customer notified them it was cold. Poor value for money. Avoid and get your breakfast elsewhere.

Would bother eating here wait time on food is stupidly long even with an empty restaurant. Manager is rude as he'll when you question why your starters took over an hour to arrive cold and you saw them just sat on the side not being served. Avoid at all costs !

Booked a table on bank holiday on our way home from holiday. Expected it to busy but it wasn't which pleased us as we expected service to be quick but it wasn't. We wasn't told of any delays so didn't expect any and didn't even get an apology for such a long wait. We ordered veg sticks as a starter for my 21 month year old and the carrot hadn't even been peeled or washed as you could see the dirt. Our main meals then took another long time to arrive which was thankfully cooked at a decent standard. Seems to be a lot of waiters with nothing to do and just stand around chatting when they clearly need more cooks.

Family meal. Really good value, everyone enjoyed their food, service was excellent. Minor fly in the ointment arose when it transpired that the restaurant was not in possession of a corkscrew to open the wine I had ordered. As luck would have it I had one the car so used that

It wasn’t as if this was the first time I had been to this particular Beefeater - myself, my wife, our son and wife and our grand children and had a very nice meal. Our visit on Thursday the 17 August could not have been more different. The service was slow - it wasn’t al that busy either although we were informed that meals were taking about forty to forty five minutes to come from the kitchen so we were not too bothered as we knew it would be good - how wrong I was. Apart from the fact that - usually - steaks come with chips unless something else is requested, but having to pay extra for chips is over the top in my opinion. My fillet steak arrived and I could not believe what was placed in front of me. The fillet steak was more like a sandwich steak folded in half and when opened was hiding fat and gristle, in other words the scrag end of the fillet. I called over a waitress and asked her if she considered this to be a fillet steak and she just looked at it then said she would get the chef - who never appeared, I then asked for the manager and a more senior waitress came over eventually who then said she would get the manager who did turn up some later at which point I just told him to take it away and bring us the bill. Thoroughly disappointed and will not be returning. Not recommended at all and if I could give no stars then that is what is deserved.

So today we visited my husband chose chicken wings which were stone cold and raw.I had prawn cocktail which was ok. I had steak but my husband has roast beef and was told they had run out of potatoes and Yorkshire pudding so he returned his meal!!! Whilst I was eating my main course a bill was delivered to our table. We were.not finished with drinks or pudding but with the next table also complaining and the manager walking out crying at the end of her shift after numerous other complaints we decided to leave!!!

Service is so rude. First they told us they didn’t have chicken nor potatoes. After finishing food we noticed that there was paper at the bottom and we was eating away the paper not knowing. When we asked a server if it’s meant to have paper at the bottom nicely the girl told us “it’s not gonna kill you” in a sarcastic manner in front of children and stormed off. Another girl came to our table and started being rude and not doing anything about the rude quote and snatched our plates. We can see and her them talking shi about us. We didnt even get our 3 course meal that we paid for. And blamed us for their bad behaviour.

I visit here quite regularly with my mum, on a weekend it is always busy late lunchtime so expect to wait about 30 minutes for a table. The food is always good and the staff are very friendly but it always takes so long here to receive your food so you end being here well over an hour and I find as the food takes so long I then can't be bothered to order a desert and wait so long for that too. As much as I always choose to come here as I prefer it over the others of this chain in Gloucester and the Manager always chats to my mother and I the place needs more staff
