Called in after visiting Oxburgh Hall today, on the off chance they might have a table free. They were almost fully booked, I think we got the last free table. We were instantly made to feel welcome. The service, considering how busy they were was quick, but we didn't feel rushed. The food was delicious, lovely starters and a gorgeous Sunday roast! Tasty meat, lots of vegetables and piping hot. Couldn't fault anything.

What a place!! The food is amazing & the service is friendly yet professional. We stayed for one night in this beautiful pub for our 25th wedding anniversary, we both had a 3 course meal that evening and the food was amazing, it’s only the second time we’ve eaten at the Bedingfeld Arms & the food on both occasions was excellent. We stayed in a room above the pub, the room was tastefully decorated and comfortable all though a little warm 🥵, we should have slept with the window open!! In the morning we met Andrew who is the host for breakfast service, yet again the food was excellent & the service from Andrew was first class, playing our music from our first dance was a nice touch. I can’t praise the staff enough in the Bedingfeld Arms, they all made us feel so welcome, a special mention to the chef, what you produce is exceptional & I can’t wait to return in a few months to try your summer menu. Many thanks

My wife and I along with our dog stayed at The Bedingfield Arms 29/3/24 and were warmly welcomed, checked in and shown to our room (9) by a lovely young lady. Our room was lovely and clean with a full try of complimentary satchets of a choice of hot drinks and biscuits. We had a lovely view of the park and the bed was amazingly comfy! We had an evening meal which was really good with generous portions and then breakfast in the morning which was again very good sized portions. We will definitely come back here to enjoy the peace and quiet and food again. Thank you to Andrew and Co for looking after us so well! See you again soon. Richard and Lisa

Oh, what a shame ! Lovely pub/restuarant and very helpful staff but the food needs to be better. For the main my wife and I had the 'half chicken with fries'. Must have been a small chicken and a modest portion of fries, which were from frozen. £18 each was very excessive ! The desserts, mine was an excellent sticky toffee pud with custard (no choice ?) and my wife had a strawberry cheesecake which lacked strawberries & side fruit or cream(as in menu picture) at £9 & £8 respectively. Not the best and could do better !

We came for Sunday lunch, my husband had chicken liver pate £10 as a starter I had terrine of ham hock £8 both starters tasted fine but the portions were minute for the prices that were charged! We both had roast beef £20 per person , the potatoes were Aunt Bessie, frozen potatoes and vegetables were hard and undercooked! The beef tasted nice but a third of it was fat which I left on my plate, we were not asked if we enjoyed our meal by the waiter! Including some bread and oil, a bottle of mineral water and a small glass of cider our lunch came to over £70 which is very expensive for what it was! The staff was not very attentive although it wasn’t very busy!

We had dinner at The Bedingfeld Arms four evenings in a row as we were staying in a cottage nearby. We have visited several times over the last three years. It is a lovely country pub. The food has always been good but it is even better now; apparently there is a new chef. Service is very good when Andrew is there (but it felt slightly disorganised and less relaxed when he wasn’t around). Giving five stars.

On arriving it was very quiet - but we had to wait whilst person at bar finished a chore to be seated ( this happened at our last visit too). When meal arrived ( roast)- it looked lovely but was cold. I asked to have it reheated ( didn’t want it wasted) but it came back with beef over cooked and curled up at edges. .The room was cold - no heating on. This occurred at our last visit too when we were told it was on a timer and staff could not turn heating on. The fire was so smokey that we and others had to move to the side room where music was too loud. - we were not allowed in other room as they wanted to lay tables for breakfast ( this was at about 6pm) We finished drinks outside but were asked to make sure we returned the glass ourselves… we have visited here to eat for many years and never found waiting staff so indifferent. And prices now high at £20 for roast beef and £8 for a posset ( sweet)…

After having many delicious Sunday lunches here this was so disappointing. No side vegetables which usually consist of red cabbage creamed leeks or cauliflower cheese. Veg consisted of one carrot, one parsnip and small portion of green cabbage and peas. No tasty gravy, very bland. No mashed potato either. I was told there was a new chef. I have emailed with my thoughts but no reply.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

Having eaten here twice before deciding to use it as our base from which to attend our annual family reunion, we were happily surprised last year with the pretty, mildly quirky, full service restaurant, bar, hotel in this unlikely yet lovely, country-village setting. Last year we booked a room and dined here and the fact that we re-booked for this year should be tribute enough for last year's review. However, this will be our last visit to The Bedingfeld Arms - as diners and as overnight guests. Here is why so far....(we only checked 6 hours ago and have another 40 hours or so to go):The dinner: Four courses - all exceedingly amateur, some inedible. Cackling with applesauce was tough and sauce sickly sweet. Thai crab cakes had nice flavour but were so crumbly you could not dip them in the sauce and had to eat with spoon. Marinated mackerel with bilberry sauce came on top of a fresh but wilting green salad; should have been served without salad and with far less sauce. Local calves liver, onions and bacon main dish was extremely over-cooked (re: burnt). The bacon was actually inedible and liver so obviously burned on one side it was shocking it left the kitchen. Five of the desserts offered included ice cream and there was an ice cream 1, 2 or 3 scoop choice. We both fancied the 3 scoops only to be informed latterly that their freezer had broken down and there was no ice cream. The bottle of wine was nice. I think by now you get my drift. One poor plate might be excused. All of them being poor is way more than three strikes...The room: Well, with the exception of the fan on the bedside table not much has changed....and really, it needs to. There are considerable attributes or we would not have returned - nice size (Room 6 is their largest) with generous bathroom, comfy bed and some nice decorative features. But please owners, you must reinvest and refresh and stop with the stupid, supercilious fairy lights, cheap rattan drawers and leaf-shaped mirror pieces. Get rid of the cheap crap. Go to the local antique furniture shop and buy what is needed. Install a proper hanging rail or really go wild and create a proper wardrobe! And where the heck is the bath soap, bottled water, telephone?!! There is NO phone signal in the room!!! I am using a wifi signal but have no idea to whom it belongs....and that keeps dropping out!We are not impressed. We are actually seriously disappointed by the failure of the owners to deliver a proper product in the ding room and in the bedrooms. There is lovely potential here and it would not require a lot of investment to right the wrongs and bring the products up to a standard for which they could be proud. We hope they do. But for us, we will be sampling the competition next year.

Having been to the restaurant previously and being subjected to very load swearing from the bar which was not discouraged by the 'real character' landlady so bit confused what type of clientele they are trying to encourage. This in all ended up spoiling our evening meal but we thought that maybe things would be better for a lunch as the restaurant is situated in a beautiful area of Norfolk and near to some of our family live so we arranged for our family (nine in total) to have luncn together after burying our Mother's ashes. We arrived and had a drink, then sat for 45 minutes until our order was taken. Then we were ushered into the dining room and eventually eight starters arrived so we waited but it took so long so we told everyone to start and the starter arrived when everyone had finished! Then the main course arrived and another persons meal arrive late. The food was OK but the portions were so small e.g. four miniscule prawns as a starter!) The service was very slow. When a member of staff was asked a question about the food they had no idea (why don't restaurants ensure the staff have been trained, tried the food and know the ingredients etc. - good practice?). So sorry but the whole family will not be frequenting this establishment again.

Country house meets Chelsea with an imposing oak bar softened by lots of comfy sofas, cushions and fresh flowers. There was a small hen party going on in one room and we were made very welcome by the friendly staff. An interesting menu with a good choice of wines and real ales; the pub had a nice mixture of locals/visitors and old fashioned style with contemporary decor. Having spoken to the owner, Catkin, we were invited to view the newly redecorated guest bedrooms and luxury ensuites. I really hope The Bedingfield can return to last year's standard of food - they've had a change of head chef and the food has gone from fantastic to just 'quite good'. A real shame; there aren't many good places to go for wonderful food around here. I recently had fish and chips there, and was expecting something along the lines of a large piece of cod with a heap of wonderfully crisp, flavourful chips (as I've had there a few times in 2012). But I got some kind of pretentiously arranged piece of fish with seven (yes, SEVEN!) chips stacked on top of each other, like some kind of half-completed Jenga puzzle. PLEASE dig out 2012's recipes and replicate them exactly...you were onto a winning formula and you went and ruined it! I've been there a few times since the change of chef to give them the benefit of the doubt - the food is quite good, but nowhere near the previous level.

Having purchased a night away with Groupon for me and my wife we were truly stunned to find a village pub with a perfect atmosphere, on our arrival we were greeted and offered drinks before being shown to our room in the converted cart lodge with underfloor heating and all the facilities you would expect and perfect decoration for our night away. The room was already warm with very good quality bedding fixtures and fittings to the point we want to redecorate our own bedroom in that style, the only small fault was they use electric showers that could be more powerfull. We came back to the bar for lunch and sat in the bar next to the open fire both having club sandwiches with massive chips more like roast potatoes already saying this was a great choice everyone who came past said hello even the guests. We booked for dinner in the evening when we returned people remembered our names and we had a great meal to include peasant and ribeye steak with fried spotted dick for desert all was cooked to perfection as was the service. The owner KatKin came for a chat and clearly loves this place like a baby and took a genuine interest in us. Breakfast was also perfect with very good quality food and service I personally can't wait to visit again and KatKin said we should bring the dogs as well behaved ones are welcome. I've just returned from another excellent dinner at this superb pub. I am lucky enough to live only a couple of miles from this place, so am able to head over there (as we did this evening) for a fantastic meal bathed in a lovely sunset in their beer garden.I was tempted out of my usual vegetarianness to dive into the steak & frites, which was as good as you'd expect in a wonderful Parisian restaurant. My wife went for the bangers & mash - which was also superb. The only down side is that the Adnams Broadside is a bit pricey at £4 a pint. But it's gorgeous. And that it's really popular on weekends so it can be hard to get a table. Which is why I really shouldn't be writing this review. So...it's a fantastic pub, please don't go there.I've never stayed in one of their rooms so can't comment on the hotel part.
