I visited the kings cafe with my partner today, I’ve previously visited on one other occasion with a friend. Shockingly the staff remembered me from my first visit. I ordered the streak panini and my partner ordered the full English. Both dishes were great quality. The mushrooms on the full English were particularly well cooked, they didn’t have that watery taste they can sometimes have when improperly cooked. Over all the staff were friendly, food was fantastic and very well priced. I will definitely be back.

Meals came out all at different time. Had mine nearly 10 minutes before my son’s meal came out. Wife’s fish pie was cold waitress just took pie away left plate with veg on getting cold on the table. Parts of mine missing let them know when paying no apologies and still charged me full price. Would not recommend to anyone. Real shame as they could have a gold mine there. Really nice venue.

Not sure how you have recommended for an award! Been in for lunch today and will not be back. My fish ‘pie’ was cold and not a pie more a stew as had not topping of either potato or pastry. Said it had prawns in but didn’t. When I said it was cold the waitress was very grumpy about it and not very apologetic. My husband had the big breakfast which had no chips on, he only realised after he’d eaten it. Mentioned it when he went to pay. Waitress just said ‘oh’ and never offered an apology. My son had the tomato pasta which he couldn’t eat, basically pasta with cheap tomato sauce stirred in it. Very over priced for what you got.

Visited today.Food and service good . Went to counter to pay and met with sign stating “ no card payment “ So I handed over a £20 note .The young lady at till disappeared into back room , to return 30 seconds later stating “we don’t accept paper £20 notes “. Bit a taken back I explained that the note was in pristine condition and is legal tender until sept 2022 .She dipped back into rear room to emerge stating “ will not accept old notes “.......aside from being made to feel embarrassed and look like a criminal , plus the “ no card payment “ left me without means to pay...After a bit of frantic searching I luckily fond a £10 note in other wallet section.... I’ve since e-mailed Gov dept as to rules on “ cash only “ and non acceptance of legal tender at this establishment..Awaiting reply .I won’t be visiting again.

Visited On Sunday 1st August, On entry greeted with a nice smile, shown our table . Ordered our food ( 2 medium beef roasts ), informed the waitress we did not want any carrots and could she ask to replace them with a bit more of another veg,, WAS TOLD AS CARROTS CAME WITH IT WE WOULD HAVE TO PICK THEM OUT !!!! Told her we have been coming here over 4 years and it has never been a problem.I When the food arrived unfortunately it was terrible, veg was almost raw ,the Swede was also burnt in places, the cauliflower cheese was very dry and undercooked, the gravy was tepid at best......... It's such a shame as we have been going here for a few years now and loved the food and service , BUT Now it seems prices have gone up far too much and service and quality down.

How good is this place, words fail me, but I'll try to find some 😉 From the specials board, Lasagne, salad & chips plus steak & ale pie, veggies & mash....... absolutely superb. Just have to get round to booking the 3 course x-mas lunch ( well I've got to buy the wife something for x-mas ! ) Heck, we might even go twice 🙂 Only one thing that surpassed my meal....... I managed to avoid getting gravy down my front for the first time 😁 happy days 🤗

Wow what can I say, excellent as usual. How lucky are we to have this on our doorstep. Match any good home cooked roast. We are lucky to have a collect service living in the village. Especially in these difficult times they must work tirelessly to provide such good service. Thank you.

We go to Kings Cafe, quite often as we live locally, we love their outdoor eating area especially in these worrying times, and just love Daisy she's so sweet, going again today for lunch, it's almost as economical as cooking at home without the washing up. If you haven't tried it then you don't know what you've missed

This is not a posh over-priced restaurant. If you need good food, sensibly priced then I have yet to come across anywhere better than the Kings Cafe, I wish I lived in Shipdham ! I am still more than happy to travel 8 miles and by-pass Dereham to eat here. Since lock down they have decorated and installed new lighting and I just love it. Always well looked after by the staff and most importantly the food is delivered to your table HOT and on a HOT plate. Seems a simple enough thing to do but its surprising how many places can't manage that on a consistent basis. Three cheers for the Kings Cafe for always supplying me with hot food. Two meals of scampi and chips and fish and chips thoroughly enjoyed by myself and colleague.

Worst coffee drink ever. I'm calling it "coffee drink" because it's not a coffe and not even americano. I know English people they aren't coffee drinkers, they like drink by pints, " English americano" esspresso with lots lots of water. But this coffe drink was even worst, it was horrible. It was like rinsed used coffee filter and that water was given to me. Fehh.. Had to spil it away. Money for nothing, for flavored water.

Service very slow, want to charge extra for eveything. I had a breakfast but dont like Hashbrowns so asked then to leave them off and put a piece of black pudding on instead. When i came to pay they charged me extra for the Black pudding, when I questioned this there attitude was not good. I will not be going back there again.

I just love this little cafe. I often use it for breakfast but have been there for afternoon tea, lunch and last year for a three course x-mas dinner. Could do with a lick of paint but it is always clean. The staff are very friendly, attentive and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. Called in for yet another breakfast, one thing for sure you know it will be hot as they always warn you about being careful if you touch the plate. For cafe food it is very good quality and for the portion served is excellent value for money. You can't complain at £4.95 for a medium sized breakfast ( which could easily be described as large at any other venue ). A tip for the business, don't skimp on cheap garden peas, they are tasteless and do nothing as a vegetable accompaniment for your meals, I am sure you can afford to buy a better quality tasty pea for a little bit more money. A shame you don't open Mondays and your afternoon closing times need clarification. But, most importantly it is a great place to eat.

Curtains up the windows, tables dressed. People going past would not go in as it does not look welcoming. Well done though we had great meal.

Met with 2 other friends for lunch. The car park was practically full, and so was the cafe. Had a long wait for our order to be taken, drinks then arrived, but another long wait for our sandwiches, I had already drunk my coffee by the time the sandwiches arrived. However, the tuna sandwiches were nice as was the salad accompaniment.

I have been to the Kings on many occasions, at different times and on different days and the welcome, the food the service is always excellent. Christmas Dinner is a favourite, plenty of well cooked food served by the ever friendly Josh and his colleague but on this occasion I took a friend for coffee and a chat and we had cheese on toast and a bacon sannie!all freshly cooked all served with good tea and a smile. I need to try the afternoon tea next. The cafe is nicely decorated sort of shabby chic and kept very clean. Looking forward to going again soon.

Have stopped here for breakfast but popped in the other day for lunch. I had the liver and OMG, was absolutely delicious. The veg was lovely - so much so I’ve now bought myself a steamer to try and replicate the flavour, the gravy was thick and flavoursome and there was so much meat the plate was almost overflowing. Best meal I’ve had in a long time. Staff are friendly too. Will definitely be back for more.

This is the go-to place for breakfast/brunch for my boyfriend and I- it is hands down the best place for a fry up around here. Good quality produce that isn’t greasy. Panini’s are also good although haven’t tried their bigger ‘evening’ meals. The staff are always lovely and can’t do enough to help. Only reason I haven’t given 5 stars is because we have been in for Christmas dinner once with a large family party and it wasn’t great (think they may have struggled with the sheer volume of people). Deffo would recommend.

I went with my family on Mother's Day, they were booked up over the lunch period so we had a table at 3.30 which I was quite happy with. Busy when we got there, two people behind the bar and one in and out of the kitchen. It took a while for our food to be served (which had been pre-ordered) and my family's judgement of the roast was that it was ok though a bit stingy with the portions. We waited quite a while for dessert to arrive and I was even more disappointed with the size of the portion. Both my daughter and myself had apple crumble and it was more crumble than apple and saying that not much crumble! Whether this was because it was the end of service at the end of the afternoon I'm not sure but no excuse as we had pre-ordered our food so there should have been plenty. I also noticed dirty plates and glasses where piled on to the bar and not taken away to the kitchen - not what you want to see when you are eating your meal. Some friends of ours were also there (they arrived before us) and after some considerable time they had to go to the bar and ask the (young) bar staff if they could have their dessert as nobody had had bothered to bring it out. Disappointing experience after reading some positive things about the place.

No cuajada. No bastante taza de té y al platillo. Barato en 5 libras. 95, pero no volveré. Precioso, lástima aunque dentro de todo lo demás.

Rather disappointing considering this venue was recommended, our Family decided this year after many years having our Christmas day meal at home we would eat out and support a local Restaurant. We sat down for our meal at 3.30. pm. Our first impression was that their were too many people cramped in a small area, we then realised that the staff were under pressure to cope with amount of customers.

Primera vez aquí y me sorprendió gratamente.

We had been walking for the morning and were looking forward to lunch and a pint at The Golden Dog pub. It was closed. Up the road towards Dereham was the King's Café. This café looks as if it was previously a pub but now serves café food all day, including all day breakfast. The menu has a wide range of café food, cakes and teas and coffees. We selected jacket potatoes and toasted sandwiches which were served promptly despite the fact that, almost as soon as we had sat down, several groups of walkers, workers and families arrived. The café has a licence and serves bottled beers, ciders and wine.Incredibly inexpensive this café makes up for the fact that the pub cannot be bothered to open. Very good, friendly service.

Lovely setting - the look of an old pub been rejuvenated into a cafe! My husband and his cycling club regularly visit here as a group as they are always made welcome and them and their bikes are happily accommodated! He brought me here today so I too could enjoy the hospitality. We were greeted by a very friendly young woman who served us tea and cake for a very reasonable £3.95 each! We sat outside in the covered area which was very pleasant. There is very good play equipment provided for children. There was a group of people still enjoying their Sunday lunch at 3 pm. The menu is varied and offers all day breakfast too. Well worth a visit if out in the countryside one day.

Stopped here today after finding this on Tripadvisor. We were warmly welcomed and given the option of sitting in the bar or upstairs (very steep stairs) for waitress service. We chose the Ploughman's Lunch, where you have the options of choosing 2 options from: cheddar, Stilton, brie, prawns, beef or piri piri chicken. The plates were full of colourful & tasty food; the beef was plentiful and tender. It took us ages to get through and unfortunately didn't have room gir a dessert. Another customer couldn't manage her lunch, and she was offered the option of having it packaged up and taking it home. We will be back next time we are in the area to try something else off the menu!
