My sister and I always have the simple curry which is delicious.Service is first class.

Food was typical of a Spoons, tables not clean, food on floor, serving staff didn't speak or acknowledge us, I understand people can have off days.

Very atmospheric place, delicious food, friendly staff. I recommend

I like a Wetherspoons but not this one. First off to make it clear there is nothing wrong with the Red Lion itself and the staff were great. Friendly and helpful in all interactions with them. No, the place was let down by some of the clientele. There were some unsavory characters lurking around. In the gents facilities one cubicle had its door lock totally broken off and another cubicle had the liquid contents of someones bowels splattered all over the porcelain. On one visit to the toilet I was approaching from the hallway and I could hear gagging, coughing and vomiting sounds. Needless to say I retreated. Sorry about this review but it was necessary, pity really. Maybe I will return when there is door staff who can filter the clientele.

Sorry, guys, but your Margarita is not bad. It’s AWFUL:( It doesn’t even close to this cocktail. Glasses for wine were dirty. Glasses for beer were dirty too.

I came here again As you get a friendly welcome'My breakfast was vegetarian 'and they allowed me to choose something else as i didn't want the Hash browns or baked beans. They let me have chips. The food was hot' Nicely presented. Thank you. The whole place had a lovely vibe. The ladies bathroom was so clean Really nicely kept . All the food that was brought out looked amazing. Service was quick. Lots of people enjoying the ambiance. We are only human we all make mistakes. Unfortunately this day and age it’s rare to witness responsibility. Today staff made a little mistake that’s quite normal but took total responsibility and went above and beyond to resolve the the issue. Fantasticly warm and welcoming staff bless you all

Fantastic value snd service - lovely staff

We had breakfast, 90% of it was cold. Service was possible. Just had a 14 hour flight and 3 hour drive, was hoping for a better breakfast, but I will not be going there again

Place was dirty all the floor hadn't been hoovered and tables sticky. Food fast, but very bland sadly and I get it's cheap, but can be jazzed up presentation wise

Steak was over cooked potato was dry and lukewarm, the tomato and mushroom were both inedible. Worse meal ever.

Cheap and cheerful you know what to expect. Service was very fast on the app and it was a nice atmosphere. Parking is a pain but it was definitely the liveliest place I visited in Thetford.

Went there a week before Christmas in the evening so was very busy, food was what you'd expect from a wetherspoons and despite it being busy we got served fairly quickly.

A great place for good pub food. As tourists, enjoyed the typical pub atmosphere. Very reasonable prices.

Ordered a large breakfast, Eggs undercooked, beans, I had about 10 max, hash browns, one was frozen in the middle. Cooks obviously didn’t have a clue

Big barn of a Wetherspoons in centre of Thetford. I didn’t like this one. The flow of people, the juxtaposition of bar and gaming machines. It was all poor. The end result was a chaotic mess of people, seemingly at random. The atmosphere suffered as a result; I didn’t enjoy myself. The machines feel particularly overlooked. The food was decent, some of the best loaded chips ever in a Wetherspoons, but no soured cream. Ran away after a couple of pints. Not one for lingering.

The Red Lion in Thetford is a Wetherspoons pub which is basically the same as any other Wetherspoons where you can order through the bar or through the app. I do like that there are often deals on the food and cocktails but I do find the service to be a bit on the slow side probably due to the lack of staff. I like that there are both indoors and outdoors to enjoy.

Breakfast is poor quality food. 2 adults 2 children. 4 cooked breakfasts. Coffee and orange juice. £30. Overpriced. You can go to any beefeater, brewers fayre etc, where they offer fresh buffet cooked breakfast. Inc continental, toast, jams cerals, pastry, crumpets, etc. Orange juice, apple juice, yoghurts, fruit. Eat as much as you like. All freshly cooked , 2 Adults and 2 kids £19.99 . Great price. Which goes to show Wetherspoons is not cheap, the food is poor quality and you get a lot less for more money. Avoid wetherspoons, Its no longer value for money at all.

A Wetherspoon's family member. Cheap and cheerful. Sometimes takes a while before you get your food. Sometimes the staff 'steals' your drinks and plates when you go to the loo or out for a smoke. But it compensates by the price.

This was the best mixed grill I’ve ever had at a Wetherspoons pub and I’ve visited nearly 50 several times. The sausage pork lamb steak and gammon was in my opinion cooked to perfection succulent juicy and tasty and if the manager reads this the chef deserves a pat on the back or a something extra in their pay packet because they obviously care about what they dish which can’t be said for all Wetherspoons. We visited Saturday 30th September and the meal was served at 4pm to narrow it down as to who was working that shift. Unfortunately the brew dog had a twang to it and I should have said something but I had a date with Spurs v Liverpool playing in the pub over the road 👍

After reading some of the reviews I had uncertain expectations but ventured in and was delighted to find Titanic Plum Porter on tap at a crazy £2.34 a pint. Had I brought my CAMRA tokens it would have been even cheaper. Spoons goes for the mass market attracting a spectrum of customers (with differing manners) but I found the staff to be very pleasant. Staff work hard in a Spoons due to the deluge of customers but they deserve to be treated as the kind humans that they often are just trying to do their job. I had breakfast the following morning and as per Spoons some items are hot, others are warm and a few on the cool side due to their 'processes'. They are not freshly cooked for each customer. Knowing that you take a chance but it was enough to sustain me.

Very nice meal at wetherspoons. We went for dinner here when we were in Thetford visiting family. We've had mixed results from different spoons and this is definitely a good one. We parked just up the road as the car park outside is closed off, not sure if this is a permanent change or just while some work is being completed next door. Ordered from the app at our table, steak with peppercorn sauce and chicken strips in a basket with extra gravy and the 2 soft drink options for just over £22 as there was an offer on our order we have no idea what for. Both dishes were served quickly and cooked very well. Lovely and tasty and both steaming. We also ordered pudding and had the apple crumble with custard and chocolate fudge cake with ice cream again both big portions and very tasty. We will definitely return here on our next visit to Thetford.

Went to Red Lion Wetherspoons for the first time and it was really nice, very bussy, staff very friendly, the place was very clean, tables were cleaned as soon as people left, we did not have food but wetherspoons food is very good, as i have being to many of them. Would defenty go again.

Went here for lunch as had an outside are and wether was nice...ordered haloumi cooked peppers salad..and my daughter similar....absolutely disgusting meal turned up apprehensive to eat greens looked as if they were leftovers red peppers non existent mash and hallumi well what can I say !! One of the worst meals I've had in wetherspoons lack of staff to clear outside tables too...what a shame as Thetford was a lovely place to visit

It's a beautiful historical building and centrally located. The staff is welcoming and friendly during our visit!! Lunch is freshly prepared and delicious 😋 one of the best wetherspoons branch we have visited. Good value meals and drinks on promotion 👌

There is always a chance to have a hot coffee and a good time with friends

Honestly I don't know if it was the day we came in but didn't end up very impressed with this particular spoons, I usually find with a wetherspoons you know what it is going to be like On our visit here a lot of the other customers were frankly rude or behaved slightly strangely for example a man ordered food to our table then demanded we move so he could have the seats The outdoor seating area was less pleasant as well and is situated in an alleyway, there is a section designated for non smokers... Which was full of clearly used ashtrays

What a horrid experience. Went in here for my second time when visiting the area , the other had been a few months ago, bought meals and drinks, sat down started sipping the drinks before the meal arrived, Talk about Big Brother watching you suddenly a lady appeared at my side just like Mr Benn the cartoon when i was a kid and said she was going to haveto confiscate my daughters drink, I asked why and she sais she didnt think she was old enoughand did we have ID, I said no we are on holiday here and she doesnt and i bought the drink and wouldnt have bought it if she wasnt able to drink alcohol, she arguied with me ans took it so i said well i will have a refund for the difference between the alcholic Koparbergs and a J20 said cant do so i said give me back the drink for me then and she did but made me pay again for a soft drink, not on, so they must be watching every move on camera. Hayley was her name i knew she was bolshy from the word go, not impressed at all. anyway the steak, was supposed to be Sirlon? colour texture and look of it not sure what it was but it was like shoe leather, Never again. complained to Weatherspoons they wereent interested, upset my daughter infuriated me no offer of any refund for the upset and inconvenience. Teach your staff some manners and give them a smily face not a face like a slapped fish and robotic manner. spoilt my daughers day. Tables were sticky and carpet smelly too No offer of a refund or gift voucher or anything for this appalling behaviour.Bye bye Weatherspoons twice was enough

A pub in the Wetherspoon family. Expect a good menu. Daily/weekly specials are printed and placed on the tables. Reasonable prices. Very friendly staff. Good quantities of quality food. Indoor seating is divided into 4 sections. Two to the left and right of main entrance. Two round the corner between the bar and kitchen. The Red Lion in the town centre of Thetford is a great place for food and drink. Although busy at times, service is always quick and prices very reasonable.

We're to start? The ale is very cheap, the manager she was very helpful.. The food was shocking, the worst meal I've ever had, I don't eat in places like this but it was late and we had just arrived in Thetford. The chicken burger was disgusting it was like someone had just washed it and dumped it on an old bread bun, My partner's food was the same, disgusting, the pub was full of drop outs, dole lights and chavs, Overall the Ale is cheap, the food is Rank, and the people are Scruffs, will not be going back

I didn't eat here, but there is a great atmosphere, outside seating. Lots of people popping in and out, staff were pleasant and efficient. I recommend a visit👍

Nice pub, good decor, good atmosphere. Always visit with friends. Fish and chips is sometimes meh, and they skimp on the chips, but one of the best Wetherspoons have been in. Big thumbs up 👍

Breakfast was very good lots of it reasonably priced and the areas were clean and tidy. I know we don’t always expect a lot from weather spoons but the quality of the breakfast was great it was well presented and hot.

Helpful cheary staff and nice food

Great pub and great service. The usual Wetherspoons quality and lager prices from around £2.57, very good prices. Went in for the evening and back in the morning for breakfast.

Beautiful building, ample inside, lots of space and I love the food in here. Very nice chicken with the crispy and spicy which it was just perfect. Very good service, plenty of space outside.

Location is the dogs, but the quality is wanting.

Spent a couple of hours here on a Wednesday evening recently. This is a venue we go to regularly mid week as its great value, good honest food and a reasonable night out. Clean, tidy and polite staff who check up to see if all is ok with the meal. An issue with a meal was dealt with promptly and courteously and a good evening was had by the four of us who went. There is never any pressure to rush meals or order more and staff are more than happy for you to chill away the hours sitting chatting to your friends. Highly recommend.

Loud, dirty and not at all like wetherspoons used to be. Meals are not good value anymore and was below average.

You simply cannot top a Spoons breakfast for value.
