Lovely atmosphere, good place for a meal!

Lovely atmosphere. Very well decorated pub in keeping with the historic building. The food was very nice, good potion very quick service. Staff friendly and polite. Shame they had run out of a few things.

Great value, especially the beer.

Busy pub, visited for breakfast whilst visiting the area and state that the breakfast is all well cooked, even the grilled tomatoes are grilled rather than shown the grill, the decaff moka is better than our local, probably because they use proper hot chocolate rather than chocolate powder, this is a recommended weatherspoons 👍

It's a typical Wetherspoons for food and drink. The staff are helpful polite and friendly, I used the app to order after the bar as can get busy. It was clean and tidy but pub does get busy during peak times for breakfast lunch and dinner but overall great cheap pub.

Horrible , bacon dry and taste less .Pancakes came cold, halloumi was not grilled and not done properly.

Nice for a meal and a catch up either friends, friendly staff.

Had veggie brunch. Staff surly and frankly rude. Chips and Egg stone cold, beans were just odd, Sausages OK. Been to many a spoons and probably the worst meal I have ever had.

On arrival the table was dirty and empty glasses! I eventually moved the glasses to another table. I used the app to order and waited ages for our drinks, even though there were only a couple of people at the bar. My grandson enjoyed his curry. My steak was well overcooked and tough ! I was told that they can’t guarantee that the next steak won’t be tough as well! I called for the manager and received a lovely steak! Nice atmosphere! Your empty plates and glasses will remain on your table till there is no room left and do it yourself. Saturday 18 January

Went for a Sunday Brunch, nice and tidy seating areas, fast service and very nice food, all at good value for money. Bottomless tea, coffee & hot chocolate are a welcome addition. Just make sure you are early as by 11am it was busy! Parking is just at one of the town car parks a few mins walk away.

Busy place. Been b4 .breakfast took over 15mins and was cold. Poor staff are rushed off there feet.Need more staff for the busy days... Staff still smiling 😃 best customer service in this establishment that i have been too... Give em a raise 👏 Kids came in not customers. Messing about with the condiment stealing them..staff Tring to deal with them too... Not they're job to do security!

Popped in for lunch, can't deny the value for money and food was lovely. One minor niggle my lunch was served in a bimonthly wasn't hot.

Considering I picked a very busy day to go here, everything was perfect.... food was great, staff brilliant, and the area was clean

Quiet, not busy, ordered a rare steak, came blue as it arrived quicker than the drink. Steak raw, not asked for a blue? Asked to grill a little bit more and the cook microwaved it instead, over cooked and tough, shame as it was potentially a good cut of steak

Decent Spoons. Pints at £1.79, which, being a Londoner, is ridiculously cheap. Didn't turn it down though. Service at the bar very good.

It’s good compared to other Wetherspoons. Empty glasses are collected regularly and tables are cleaned fine. The toilets are clean. We’ve been here twice now and it’s not too busy even though it’s weekend. The dinner is fine, but their Korean chicken bowl was not great. Curry is okay like other spoons. I tried their new pancakes with fruits. They’re much better than other breakfast places, but they so much maple syrup! I’m sure there are people who like that, but that was just too much. The amount of fruits were good too.

A perfectly average Wetherspoons pub. The bar was clean and tidy, tables were properly clean, unlike some bars sticky tables. Food arrived swiftly, and Al well cooked. A little bit noisy from other diners but we could all hear each other speak. Atmosphere was provided by decor, including large frames containing local historical information. Yes I'd recommend it. Yes I will be returning.

Really nice feel inside at this Wetherspoons. It has the character of an old pub and some nice armchairs and a fireplace. Lots of seating outside for those wanting to brave the cold in the winter. My only grumble is that it took ages to bring us cups for hots drinks. Ive never been in a spoons where this hasnt been instant.

When we arrived at our table, it was overcrowded with dirty dishes. We sat down, and for about 10 minutes, no one came to clear it. I ordered drinks and food, and when one of the waiters brought our drinks, she noticed the dishes piling up on the table. She took away some plates but left the cups. Later, when they brought our food, the cups were still there, and no one cleared them. So, we ended up sitting with dirty dishes on the table throughout our meal. I’ve ordered the Sticky Korean Fried Chicken Bowl with chips a few times, and it’s always been delicious with a generous portion. However, this time it was a disappointment. The fries came with little sauce and there wasn’t as much meat as usual.

I came in here for breakfast and also meal in the afternoon af having a day visiting Thetford and a local museum, i would come back again.

Don't go here, most of the staff are nice but there is one that stomps about, constant angry face, stroppy behaviour. Being rude, no please or thank you. She must of missed the weatherspoons training day. Most people I speak to me mention this agressive person. Not good. Especially if you go there to relax she has the potential to ruin your day.

Despite using this Spoons on several occasions, (at least once a week), was very disappointed withe the scrambled eggs on toast this morning, toast had no butter on it???, scrambled egg was overcooked (very dry) first cup of coffee we both had was LUKE WARM, so not very happy about this.

Use this place at least once a week, food usually good, but this morning it wasn't, had scrambled egg on toast, egg was overcooked and dry plus NO BUTTER on the toast !!, coffee was Luke warm, so not very happy

Is a Mediterranean salad peas & tomato only?

First time in here for lots of years, typical Wetherspoon now and I don't mean that in a bad way. Very fast service and polite staff.

The breakfast here is definitely the best thing I've ever put in my mouth. I'm currently living in another country and I get nostalgic and hungry every time I think about it. Best Mayo Ever

Good food, great value and very good service

We called in at the Red Lion in Thetford for lunch, during a long weekend visit to the town. It was busy, but the meal and drinks arrived very quickly after using the QR code to order. We had nachos, fries, chicken strips and pancakes. All very good and very reasonably priced. An ideal place to grab a quick bite to eat whilst exploring this wonderful little town.

We visited for a big family lunch today and it was the most pleasant experience we’ve had there. The place looked the most cleanest I’ve ever seen it and the new staff and management were amazing with service to food. They dished the kids food out first which was great to see and they couldn’t do enough for us: please keep it up. The change is very welcomed. Thank you to all the staff today.

The average Wetherspoon and generally a great place however, they are not dog friendly. I was sat outside today in the public area to the front of the pub in the market place. I was told I was not welcome as dogs are not allowed. So many places are now dog friendly but this place is an exception, a shame really as the place is nicely situated and the staff are generally nice and polite. A bit of a let down really.

Had the small fish, chips and mushy peas for £7:84 which included a soft drink. For dessert I had the Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream followed by tea for £6:55. I didn't like those small teabags they had as the tea is weak.

Big pub and you know what you're getting

Goy to say. The place is very well set out. Inside and out. With a cosmopolitan feel with the tables outside in what I assume the market square. Staff could be a bit more welcoming and happy to see you as a customer. Food rating needs a lot of work. Had a chicken best burger and chips with onion rings. Honestly, on this occasion, I hope it's not their normal standard. Shocking the chicken was cold and dry with no taste. The chips were cold. Onion rings were terrible. When mentioned to management, they walked away.

We were able to sit outside in the Market Square which was perfect for such a warm sunny day. Service was fast and friendly and the food was really tasty and great value.

Food was average. Not much choice of real ales. But prices were fair .

Nice Wetherspoon pub. Free car park very near.

6 year old grandson is dairy intolerant. He wanted a hot drink and they were unable to provide anything but tea or coffee which he does not drink Drinks are dispensed from a machine don't have option for individual drinks to be made

This was a lovely pub right bybthe market in Thetford! It wasn't very busy so we didn't have a long wait for our food and the pint we had each, Exmoor Gold, was very nice too! Only disappointment was there were no locally sourced beers to try!

A pleasant surprise in Thetford! A town centre location with free parking nearby. Our visit was a midweek lunchtime. For the prices, the food and drink was very reasonable.

Great Spoons, it was busy when we went but not too busy. Service was helpful and friendly and food fresh and fabulous value. Large seating area inside and out. I had the burrito salad bowl and it was delicious

Unusual, light and airy old pub with nice covered courtyard area. Good location in Thetford centre. Cheery staff and great prices as always at Wetherspoons.

I made the mistake of ordering the smashed avocado muffin and adding a poached egg and maple-cured bacon. I was expecting a toasted muffin and a hot poached egg with hot, crispy bacon. Sadly the muffin was cold, the poached egg was cold, and the maple-cured bacon was fridge-cold and stuck together with cold congealed grease. A member of staff told me that maple-cured bacon is meant to be served cold with the muffin. I suggested they add that information to the menu so others don't make the same mistake. Never again

Working in the area and needed somewhere to visit for a evening meal and the Red lion ticked all the boxes.great value food and drink.good menu,the staff are friendly and on the ball.the building is tastefully decorated and has alot of history.there is outside tables in the square surrounded with trees 🌳 that are lit up at Night which makes a great atmosphere on warm evenings.i would definitely call here again if I'm ever back in the area.

Very friendly and great customer service experience from visiting the red lion wetherspoon pub a week ago or two. I only had a drink and no food so can't really say if food is good or not. Will eat there in the future tho and see how it's like.

I like a Wetherspoons but not this one. First off to make it clear there is nothing wrong with the Red Lion itself and the staff were great. Friendly and helpful in all interactions with them. No, the place was let down by some of the clientele. There were some unsavory characters lurking around. In the gents facilities one cubicle had its door lock totally broken off and another cubicle had the liquid contents of someones bowels splattered all over the porcelain. On one visit to the toilet I was approaching from the hallway and I could hear gagging, coughing and vomiting sounds. Needless to say I retreated. Sorry about this review but it was necessary, pity really. Maybe I will return when there is door staff who can filter the clientele.

Sorry, guys, but your Margarita is not bad. It’s AWFUL:( It doesn’t even close to this cocktail. Glasses for wine were dirty. Glasses for beer were dirty too.

I came here again As you get a friendly welcome'My breakfast was vegetarian 'and they allowed me to choose something else as i didn't want the Hash browns or baked beans. They let me have chips. The food was hot' Nicely presented. Thank you. The whole place had a lovely vibe. The ladies bathroom was so clean Really nicely kept . All the food that was brought out looked amazing. Service was quick. Lots of people enjoying the ambiance. We are only human we all make mistakes. Unfortunately this day and age it’s rare to witness responsibility. Today staff made a little mistake that’s quite normal but took total responsibility and went above and beyond to resolve the the issue. Fantasticly warm and welcoming staff bless you all

We had breakfast, 90% of it was cold. Service was possible. Just had a 14 hour flight and 3 hour drive, was hoping for a better breakfast, but I will not be going there again
