Update: 09/04/2024 - The ‘Mega Breakfast’ was all very tasty and cooked exactly as I requested. Another good experience in The Chase Thetford ! Date of Visit: 26/02/2024 - The service was excellent with the food being tasty and reasonably priced. Lots of deals on the menu i.e ‘Curry Night’ etc, which my wife and I will give a whirl the next time we’re in the area. All staff we encountered tonight were very pleasant and the check-back and upselling of desserts was also done with the minimum of fuss. We shall definitely return - Thank you for your service :)

Typical good value Hungry Horse. Unfortunately on the occasion we visited with a large party a meal was missed off the list, even though the lady behind the counter checked it back. Food was very good value and ample parking for when we visited.

Food just as described on menu, quality of food very good in fact there was too much. The young lady serving us was very polite and very helpful. In fact we couldn’t fault anything. I would like to add we did have a meal on Friday night at another restaurant further down the road with our family and can only say they should contact the Chase for advice on service & quality of food etc and wish we had taken all our family to the Chase on Friday night. Brilliant to see molly back in the chase. Always above and beyond service from her and she is amazing with the children. Food was amazing and all staff were brilliant. Cannot wait for our next visit.

I've given this review an extras star in each category simply on the basis of value and almost impossible promotional offers here which cannot be bettered anywhere else! Food can be a hit n miss here but I've never had to complain because this is in the cheap and cheerful sector. However, at times the quality of the food really does surpass expectations. Great atmosphere, excellent value. Always on my list of places to eat when considering eating out. Well done Hungry Horse.

What an absolute gem, in such a beautiful town. Steve the manager was absolutely fantastic. Children absolutely loved it. Cannot fault the staff & the food. Will definitely be returning. Thank you to everyone who works hard at the chase

Steve the manager was great! We was a big party without a booking, but he went above and beyond to fit us in and make us feel welcome. His customer service was lovely. The chase are lucky to have him!

It's just ok. The food is good, when you can actually order any and get some and the pub clean and tidy and always a nice atmosphere just unreliable service.

Came in for a meal, food was excellent and service was quick, would recommend for people who are eating out on a budget

I appreciate we were part of a large group and part of the restaurant had been reserved for us to solely use but I do not feel the serve was good at all. Everyone had been asked to provide their menu choices 2 weeks in advance so we were surprised being asked to reorder our meals again upon arrival. Waiting almost 2 hours to be served was definitely not ideal. The food was acceptable, although not very hot and one of the meals on our table had 2 items missing, which included the gravy, this was mentioned to the waitress who commented she'd go and get the missing items, turned to leave, made a face and never reappeared, we had to go to the bar and ask for the items again, this time they were brought out but most of us had almost finished our meals by now. Half the plates from the table were cleared and we were asked if we'd ordered any desserts and would we like them now, unfortunately once again we waited for almost an hour for these to appear. When they were eventually delivered to the table the rest of the plates were cleared away. Within the whole group there were young children, their meals were served last, I would have thought children should have been served first? Again their menu choices had been provided in advance as requested. Fortunately the children were very well behaved and waited patiently for their meals, after numerous requests from different members of the group, waiting 2 hours from the time we all arrived for them to be served last out of the whole group is not acceptable! Would I return to this venue? No

After several years of going to Thetford’s Hungry Horse we’re not going to be returning for a while until things improve. 50 minutes wait for two people to be served food is not acceptable, we would have got up and gone elsewhere if we hadn’t already paid for it. When it arrived it was mediocre to say the least. We’ve had a lot better service and food from there before so what has happened for it to hit rock bottom so quickly? They’re going to have to up their game for us to come back.

The meal I has today which was Gammon jacket potato pineapple egg peas was appalling. Pineapple was burnt black ,jacket potatoes was grey plate was full of black juice . The Gammon was the only edible item on the plate very very desertified with this plate.when I complained no one was willing to take responsibility. The waiter was the only person who apologies. When my dessert arrived it was so hot that was ridiculous unable to eat for a while . Will think twice before I return.

The Chase is by far the best place to eat in Thetford. We are never disappointed with our food. How can you complain when you visit a Hungry Horse pub. It's cheap food, amazing portion sizes. The pub is clean, The staff there are very friendly, what more do you need. Highly recommended

All had a roast, nice but not as nice as other pub chains. VERY slow service. Used our Tesco vouchers and probably in the small print but not allowed to use them on any meals deals.

I always had amazing time by Chase in Thetford, I used to go with my friends in there. My favourite drink was Purple Rain and I loved the Unicorn cake. Definitely recommend it!

What a lovely well run pub this is, I came in recently for a few drinks and wasn’t disappointed! I had a great chat with the manager while I was there and what a laugh, really down to earth and really makes you feel welcome, the pub is lucky too have such a nice bloke running the place. I’m yet to try the food here but I will definitely be returning too have a bite to eat. Overall great place

Excellent service was very busy but didn't have to wait long for the food which was amazing customer service was excellent even the manager had time to come and talk to ask if everything was OK and if we needed anything else will be definitely coming back

Lovely setting for a birthday family lunch. The pub itself is very tasteful and clean. The staff are welcoming and friendly and the menu choice of both food and drinks is generous. We even got help when we had some that were struggling with choice ! The food arrived quickly for a large party and all at the same time .. service was with a smile and the quality of the food was outstanding. Thank youx

It is Lovely friendly place, the staff were attentive to our needs (gluten free), and the food was great.

An absolute terrible experience. First of all having made a reservation we had to wait 55 minutes for our food. I had sea bass but the vegetables were cold. When we came to pay we waited at the bar. The lady was very nice and acknowledged us and apologised for the delay but 15 minutes later we were still waiting to pay so approached someone whose reply was abrupt and aggressive. This same person finally took our payment but when I said I wished to make a complaint he informed me he was the manager. He had no customer service skills and was extremely rude. We will not be going back there.

We had a couple of poor experiences here several years ago and it put us off the Hungry Horse chain. But time mellows the memories, so we tried it again and were pleasantly surprised. The tables were clean as was the pub as a whole. The televisions at the tables weren't working but as we were chatting it didn't make a difference. Food was ordered via the app and the drinks arrived 3 minutes later. All correct and the Americano coffee I had had a good flavour, medium roast. Fiod arrived within 10 minutes of the order, very good indeed. My mixed grill was all good and cooked to perfection. I'm glad we risked another visit here, well worth it and good value for money. Would recommend it for a family style meal and we'll be trying it again soon I'm sure.

Went in for a meal with my family today and even though they had limited food, what we did have was lovely. Can’t compliment the staff enough, couldn’t stop apologising for the lack of food and just gave lovely service overall. Would definitely go back.

Visited this eve as a family of 5 adults to celebrate my Birthday...what a disappointment from start to finish...firstly we were greeted at the entrance by the Manager who told us what table we were at, had to find our own way instead of being shown to our table whereas before we had been escorted to our table, after deciding on our drinks & meal options my Husband went up to the Bar to order, he got told there was no Koppaburg Strawberry & Lime as they had run out, so chose an alternative, went to order our meals & got told that 3 meals out of the 4 they hadn't got as run out again so had to go back to our table & re-choose another 2 options. When the food did come out there was a long blonde hair stuck in our son's food which made him feel sick, I wanted to show this to the Waitress but our Son didn't want to cause a fuss & then proceeded to eat his meal, my husband & I both chose Fish & chips, frozen thin chips which were only slightly lukewarm. Then to cap it off when we went to order our desserts we were told that the Ultimate Candy mania was a sharing dessert & not for 1 person, which surely should be the Customers choice if they want a big dessert like that, then when I asked if we could swap the Chocolate ice cream for Strawberry please we got told no we can't do that as the ice cream is already mixed, so I said to the Barman well we've had it changed to a diff flavour before when we've asked, with that he promptly said we'll we don't do it now! Last time we went which was a few weeks ago they said they had run out of Candymania's so was really looking forward to having one tonight With that we told him not to bother we would leave it & go elsewhere which we did! The Barman reaked really badly of Body Odour which was not at all pleasant. Went in the toilets before leaving & they were disgusting, filthy dirty with paper, sweet wrappers & piles of muck on the floor in the corner of the cubicles & they stank of urine. This pub really needs to sort itself out as such a shame & the food issues and everything are letting it down greatly.

Went to the Chase and had yet again another fantastic meal. The food was cooked perfectly and we didn't have to wait long for our food considering how busy they were. The team at the Chase are a credit to Greene King and should be...

Went for Xmas dinner with my family and the food was cold and it took over 2 and a half hours for the 3 courses to get served to us. The only positive part was the staff was lovely but we still had to pay...

Tried to eat here and man in blue and white snowflake Christmas was so rude basically said where full leave !!!! Happy Christmas jumper awful service before we even sat down ( all tables were empty at 4 o’clock in the afternoon )

I booked a table online for 9 adults for the 8th December , this was to celebrate my daughter’s 18th birthday , I booked 2 months in advance . On the day I got an email to remind us about our visit all good , then a couple of hours before our meal I received a phone that went through to voicemail saying they had cancelled our booking due to an issue in the kitchen and then needing to prioritising the Christmas bookings , I called them back and spoke to the rudest member of staff who told me it was nothing to do with Christmas bookings they had a leak in the roof in the kitchen , I responded with it’s funny how several Christmas bookings of people I know haven’t been cancelled and I booked mine well in advance he said I could rebook another week I hung up on him , I then had to rush around to try to find somewhere to fit all of us , then what do I see the next day all over Facebook photos of loads of Christmas party’s in the chase from Saturday night. Helpful hint don’t lie to me and change your story I had book in advance I stated on the booking this was an 18 th birthday this booking should’ve been honoured , I will never use this restaurant again and neither will any of the people who were on my booking
