We stayed at the hotel for three nights, had breakfast every day and dinner once. The restaurant has views over the bay and is light and welcoming. Breakfast is cooked to order and was excellent every day. We had dinner there once as we were out and about. The food was excellent and we would recommend to residents and visitors. The staff are friendly and helpful. Nice to note a jug of water was already on the table when we sat down, rather than finding that we were being charged for a bottle.

We booked the Christmas Day lunch. They provide a menu when you book and you have to make your choices and pay in advance. We received a welcoming greeting when we arrived and were shown through to the bar area for the included Bucks Fizz welcome drink where we then waited to be taken through to our table. The bar and restaurant are bright and with views out to the beach at Porth. In the main restaurant the tables were nicely laid out for Christmas and well spaced. They had made every effort to make the meal more that just a restaurant experience with included crackers, streamers, party-poppers and Rocket Balloons. This all engendered a great party atmosphere in the whole restaurant. The food all arrived at a relaxed pace. It was very well presented and very nicely cooked. I'd say for a roast dinner, it was probably the best restaurant version I have had. All the vegetables neither under or over cooked - and there was a good variety too, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Brussel Sprouts, Carrots, Mange Tout and mini Corn on the cob. The roast Potatoes, which are usually the veg that suffers from being kept warm in restaurants, were perfectly cooked with crispy edges. The staff were all friendly and efficient. We are already planning our next visit.

Based on the amount of people for lunch last Sunday this must be Newquay’s best kept roast secret. My family of four booked early based on the reviews here and the bargain of one course for £8.95, two for £11.95 or three for £14.95. Well all I can say was that I only went intending on one course but because the food was so nice I had all three!! My son doesn’t normally eat roast potatoes but even he said they were the nicest crispiest ones ever and ate all 6 of them. Great Chicken or Beef option plus a fish choice all great. So good in fact booked for next Sunday!!!!

Booked in for early dinner dining (5.30 pm) as we had 6 month old daughter with us. Staff were really accommodating and let us choose where to sit so we had room for the pushchair. Duck salad and spring roll starters were great. Lovely attention to detail on the presentation of the salad and tons of flavour. My main of fish and chips was very satisfying with super crisp batter. My wife’s risotto was generous and good but a bit under seasoned. Choc torte dessert was great and everything was reasonably priced for such a high standard. Our waitress was brilliant and we were very well looked after. Views of Porth beach from the restaurant are beautiful.

Staying at the Hotel on a Woucher deal which included a three course meal on one night, we were so impressed with our first meal we booked again for the second night. Not sure if it was only on offer to hotel guests but we went for a two course meal for two including a bottle of house wine for £45. It was a great choice, my sirloin steak was mouth watering and my wife's fish was a generous portion on a well presented plate - her cheesecake dessert was even prettier and the wine more than palatable too. Well done chefs and attentive waiting staff - thank you for a pleasant dining experience!!

My husband booked a table here for Valentine’s Day for us. Food was lovely and the girl who served us was fantastic. They swapped a few things around with our meals as we are a bit fussy. The only thing I would like to be changed, is that it was a set price for 1, 2, or 3 courses, including a bottle of wine. I would’ve preferred it without wine as my hubby drinks white and I drink red, and we certainly wouldn’t be able to drink a bottle each, not that we were drinking as we both have driving jobs and we were at work early the next day. We are looking forward to going back with my parents.

We went for the a la Carte menu which had a 2 or 3 course offer, which was a fair price. But half the choices had a supplement on the meals. Starters were nice, but mains very average. My father and boyfriend had the rack of lamb which was actually lamb belly, half the lamb was fat and inedible. So was a bit of disappointment. I have the risotto which lacked flavour and texture could of done with some whole vegetables in it.

Met by a waitress who asked for our room number whilst trying to carrying several drinks. Didn't tell us to follow her so we carried on waiting at the designated stand. She then called us over and just let the menus on the table. I advised them before we arrived that I had a gluten allergy which they confirmed wouldn't be a problem and I mentioned it again when ordering. My soup came over with normal croutons on and had to be sent back. Glad I didn't eat them and assume they were ok!! Our deal included a bottle of prosecco but we had to mention it rather than it being offered to us, I'm sure this information would have been on the booking. The waitress seemed uninterested in what she was doing. The main course presentation was awful, thick slices of chicken dumped on the plate with whole chunky vegetables and a sauce that looked like and tastes like tinned chopped tomatoes, hardly any flavour. Pudding was nice, had the coffee creme brulee. We wouldn't go back and don't think it would be worth the money if not part of a deal!

We were staying in the apartments of this hotel recently. On the Friday night of our stay we decided to have a nicer meal and book in the restaurant. Booking was recommended when we checked in so we booked for 7.45. The restaurant was quite empty with only 3 other tables taken which was surprising for a Friday night however, this wasn't a problem. The menu choice was good not only for food but drink too. The food was well presented for every course (we had 3!) and there was plenty... Would definitely recommend the lamb! We stayed in there nearly 3 hours and the staff were friendly and helpful when needed and didn't try to rush us despite us being the only people left from about 9pm. We ate here on our first night down at the Porth Veor villas and apartments, after a long drive down. Warm welcome from the waitress. She was very patient taking our drinks order as we took a while to decide. Jugs of water were also brought to the table along with some bread rolls. The prices on the a la carte menu were steep (the cheapest main course was about £16), so we went for the early bird set menu instead (2 courses for £17). There were about 4 choices per section which was alright. I went for the mussels starter which was the perfect size (not too big). The sauce was nice but very creamy. It was supposed to come with bread but it didn't.I chose the mushroom risotto for my main. This was nice but needed seasoning, and for some reason it had been garnished (along with the kids pasta meals) with strips of deep fried potato?! Unpleasant and unnecessary in my opinion. Anyway, the views from the restaurant and garden are lovely and the waitress we had (dark hair - didn't get her name) was very nice indeed. All the staff seemed friendly which made the dinner a better experience than it could've been. Note, if you're staying at Porth Veor then you're entitled to a 20% discount on the restaurant.

5 Years ago we had a 60 birthday celebration and all was well. Not so this time. Party of 5 and four of us chose the Prawn Cocktail. To start with to put red onions in a Prawn Cocktail is not the done thing... they are too powerful. Also when you have a Prawn Cocktail it is usually served with a delicious Marie Rose sauce. Now, they had either run out of the sauce or not enough to go around the diners yesterday but our poor tiny (?frozen or tinned!) prawns just had a drizzle on some of them. I always base my opinions on a restaurant by their Marie Rose sauce. If its poor and watery etc then I know I am going to be disappointed in the whole meal. And that is what happened. To begin with and to praise them the cod loin chosen by one of our party looked delicious, was beautifully presented and was indeed very good. Also the Pasta dish was declared good too. Oh but what happened to the roast beef meal that 3 of us ordered? Well to start with the beef was just thrown onto our plates in an untidy pile - is this supposed to be rustic? Admittedly the beef looked pink (as I prefer) but the fat was very wet and floppy. The individual vegetables we were served were very tasteless and goodness only knows what happened to the "stuffing". It had a very very brown crisp bottom. Roast potatoes were a success so too were the Yorkshire Puddings. Then came the treacle tart that we ordered - 3 between 5 as we were not that hungry..... But that too was extremely disappointing. If you are going to make treacle tart make sure there is enough treacle to make the diner feel it IS a treacle tart and not a tasteless pastry case with sweet breadcrumbs. All in all a very lacklustre meal and we left feeling very disappointed especially for the birthday girl!

To be honest I was not expecting much despite the delightful people I spoke to when making the booking as the website does not do the place justice. Despite the restaurant needing a little bit of updating with regards to its decor, we were given a lovely table in the conservatory with fantastic views over the bay. The staff could not have been anymore friendly and welcoming and are an absolute credit to the establishment. The menu was not vast but had a good choice and the food was not only presented beautifully but was extremely tasty which included my two year olds plentiful plate of pasta. My husband and I both had fillet steak which was cooked to perfection and my Dad is still raving about the Turbot he ate. Dinner was washed down with a fantastic bottle of white Portuguese wine and had our dessert on slate plates in the garden watching the sun go down. Later we spoke to a family who have been staying there over the last few years and who love the place which comes as no surprise after our visit. What a unexpected jewel in the Cornish crown and which has prompted me to make only my 2nd review in 8 years because that sort of effort deserves to be noted. Defo had some food envy, and had chosen the wrong dishes! The Moules starter and Seabass main that my wife had were both very good - great care with the fish, and well cooked.I had the soup followed by steak - the soup was ok, but sadly the bread rolls were not good at all - maybe just warm em up a little to freshen would have helped. The steak came with the same veg as the Bass, which was acceptable but nothing to write home about. Sadly the potato dauphinoise was a touch grey - reckon this had been cooked the day before. Tasted ok, but didn't eat all of that. The desserts weren't great, and I'd say they were brought in.Lovely friendly staff - very helpful, and nice to see water on the table on arrival. I felt obliged to write a review after noticing this restaurant was so far down the trip advisor ratings. Seven of us visited on a Friday evening to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were greeted warmly by the waiting staff and this set the tone for the rest of the evening. After ordering drinks from the extensive wine menu, our food orders were then taken. After a short wait, our starters were brought out. My fiancée and I had both ordered scallop and king prawn noodles. It was extremely tasty and cooked to perfection. This was an extremely positive start. For our main course, my fiancée had ordered a sirloin steak and I plumped for the lamb shank. When they were brought out, we were again pleasantly surprised. Both meats were cooked to perfection and there wasn't anything left on our plates when we finished. To finish, we had a trio of ice creams and a chocolate brownie. Again, both were absolutely gorgeous. You have to visit this lovely restaurant that has some of the best views around! Highly recommended.

This restaurant was average at most. There were limited items on the menu to choose from and although it was all nice, but not what we expected from a "fine dining", al a carte restaurant. On top of this, the prices were far too high for the food we received. It was almost double the price for an adults ice cream (3 scoops) compared to the kids version (2 scoops). Having said that, the staff were very friendly and nice, but a number of things went wrong during our visit. I probably wouldn't recommend Beaucliffs to anyone.

Our 3rd visit to this great restaurant during annual visits to the area, Service was as friendly as ever (although a bit slow this time; understaffed?) however the table, view and food was very good, and the atmosphere delightful. This place is an island of good taste and well worth a visit.

Overall, the restaurant offers very average food and tries to put a fine dining spin on it which doesn't work. The sauce for my fillet if beef was oily and tasted like from a packet and the prawns on the plate had a distinct old and fishy smell to them and were overbooked. Not a great meal.

I booked the restaurant for something a bit more special for my wife and I. We booked early evening and had a nice table by the window overlooking the hills and coast line. It is a conservatory type environment and we felt the place lacked atmosphere. At this time there were families with young children dining from the holiday villas nearby, so it was not a romantic setting. The food was reasonably well cooked and tasty although the sauces on both our dishes were not quite right and a little sparse so the food become a little dry by the end of the meal. Reasonable value at £30 per head and the service was good, but we left a little disappointed.

Lovely views, high above the local town out to the cliffs and sea.Service excellent; attentive but not over-attentivePlace became full during the dinner period but, since the tables were well-spaced, it did not feel crowded.Food arrived promptlyStarter: pork and black pudding - delicious, 5/5Main: my choice of main probably wasn't the best thing on the menu (beetroot and caramelised onion tart). It was somewhat mushy, with no clear flavour (3/5). For this reason I stole a bit of my wife's steak dish which was very good.Overall we both enjoyed the meal and liked the venue.

Starters of belly pork and black pudding and scallops special were particularly good. Service was excellent, staff could not do enough for you, including sending out for more red bull on a Sunday evening having run out!Beautiful views over beach and beyond.Enjoyed 2 evening meals as we were staying in the hotel so no driving. Used tastecard second time so great value too!

Having read through the other reviews of Beaucliffes, I'm thinking that maybe they were having a bad day...When we arrived, the entrance to the hotel was locked, so we found the restaurant with a bit of luck by wandering through the open conservatory door in the bar area.We were seated at a nice table overlooking the garden with a sea view.I booked Beaucliffes because I have a Gourmet Society card and the offer was very good. For me, this is when things started to go a little bit wrong... we had to wait quite a while before the waiter came over to take our drinks order and the drinks took quite a long time to arrive.I was quite impressed with the menu and the selection of dishes on offer... I was chatting to my partner about what he was going to have when we noticed that we had different menus... unfortunately, my menu was the wrong menu (which was disappointing)... and when I chose the starter I wanted from the correct menu, it wasn't available...Not a good start.Several times during the evening the waiter had to apologise to us... the first for giving us two different menus, then for not telling us what dishes were not available and then for not telling us we had to take to the bill to the bar to pay...But we couldn't fault the food. The chef definitely has a good eye... all of the food was well presented, cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The fillet steak for main was huge and the side dishes of potatoes and chips were just perfect.I read that Beaucliffes describe themselves as a 'fine dining restaurant'. This was definitely not demonstrated on the evening I went for dinner. The food may have been very good but the service was not at all good.If I was paying full price I would have been very disappointed but the Gourmet Society discount made it very good value for money.

Enjoyed a lovely family meal here during our holiday. The staff were very friendly to both adults and children, and nothing was too much of an effort. The orders were taken efficiently, an the food was of a high standard. The only dish that wasn't quite up to the standard of the rest was the mushroom pâté, which was a little bland. The rest of the meals were delicious, with special mention to the Stilton starter, the crab linguine and the steak pie!Th value was excellent, with children eating free (and eating well!), and some very tempting offers.Highly recommended for a nice meal out for families or couples.

Just enjoyed a 2 course Prix fixe meal at this restaurant. Children are free, with good quality meals and beautifully presented ice cream with strawberry. Our own starters were a bit mixed, lovely Cornish Brie in breadcrumbs, pâté a little lacking in flavour, but the home made bread is too die for and our steak pies were full of flavour. Overall a very satisfactory meal! Waiter very friendly.

Part of our holiday deal (in Watergate Bay) included a dinner at Beaucliffes at a 50% discount. So for us this was very good value; for those paying the full amount, it would be quite expensive. Since this restaurant, and the Porth Veor Manor Hotel in which it is located, are quite highly rated in the Newquay area, we booked a table there for our first evening. The setting of the hotel and the views from the dining room are beautiful. The restaurant itself is a very pleasant and airy room. Classy. A pity about the artificial flowers, even if they were better than most. Our starters were mushroom and leek vol au vent (very good) and grilled sardines (OK). Both unfortunately had a weary (not fresh) and undressed salad garnish. Strange. Our main course was a whole lemon sole (good), and a whole gurnard in a truly delicious sauce (excellent). For pudding, we had a treacle tart (nothing out of the ordinary) and a white chocolate and raspberry torte (excellent). The service was excellent, and the whole experience very enjoyable.

As part of a deal with Beach Combers Apartments we were lucky enough to have a Cornish Cream Tea, Dinner and Breakfast in this restaurant and we were well impressed with all three. We were scheduled to have our Cream Tea on the second day of our stay however after a four hour drive we rang the hotel to see if they could fit us in a day earlier- which was relatively quick and easy to sort out. The tea itself was lovely and comprised of scones, cornish cream and a choice of tea or coffee. Our dinner was excellent, the food was piping hot, freshly prepared and as we had children in our group we were given the option of early dining (around 6pm) which was very welcome. I suffer from a severe nut allergy and I was traveling as part of a large group of people which included several fussy eaters. The service we received from the restaurant was exceptional they even tried to contact us before our arrival to ensure they could prepare food which would meet everybody's specification. Breakfast is well worth the money, with a selection of cereal's and toast as well as a hot food menu from which you can order a typical 'full english'. The best part of all three dining experiences was quite simply the service we received from our waiter Ernest - he is an absolute credit to the hotel and really couldn't have been more helpful. Will definitely return to this establishment next time I am in the area.

Can't thank Paul and Ernest enough for the excellent and friendly service we had at the Beaucliffes on our first night in Cornwall. Fantastic food served with breathtaking views of the sun setting on the coast. I would love to go back again. Maybe stay in one of the cottages/apartments next time.

We stay in the hotel or apartments at least twice each year and always have one evening meal in the restaurant. Choice is excellent, beautifully cooked, and service generally very good - unfortunately this time, high standards slipped and we were seated for over 20 minutes before someone came to take our order, and even longer for our drinks order! Word of advice - check the bill, as we haven't always had the correct discounts applied.

Went here as part of a meal deal with Travelsmith Holidays. Good choice of courses, well presented and cooked to perfection. Waiting staff very friendly. Didn't stay at this hotel but were very impressed with it as a whole - lovely apartments surrounding the hotel overlooking a very inviting pool. Our deal also included a Cornish cream tea which was lovely, again overlooking Porth.

We came here for a three course meal as part of our holiday deal. The location and venue itself is stunning with an outside pool and the restuarant is in a conservatory overlooking the bay. There was a good choice on the menu and the food was very good value. It is a shame because although we all thought it was good, it has the potential to be excellent. Something is not quite right although compared to the rest of Newquay it is amazing. Possibly the very small glasses or the lack of a host and atmosphere. We ordered a bottle of white wine which came out warm and after being in a wine bucket the waiter swapped for a different bottle and did not charge us the extra which they did not have to do.

Booked a table through the apartment chain I was staying in for my parents wedding anniversary. The location and facilities at the restaurant were very good and we was instantly made to feel at home by the bar manager Paul. The meal was first class with, service and value for money to match. Next time I am down in the Newquay area I will most defiantly be returning.

We were staying at the Beachcombers apartments in watergate bay and had a 50% off voucher for a 3 course evening meal at Beaucliffes restaurant which we decided to use one of the evenings. We had two children with us so booked for 6pm as childrens menu is only on until 7pm . The restaurant was set out lovely and we were seated in a window over looking the gardens and the bay. Ernest was very well mannered and very friendly to our children age 8 and 5 which is great as sometimes in these type of restaurants they are not overly keen on children. All the food we had was excellent and served in good time . Our bill was just under £50 which was good for 4 of us but would of been a bit over priced had we not had 50% off.We will certainly return here again when we next visit Cornwall. well done to all the staff .

The ice creams here are beautiful! Really generous portions and are very well presented. The customer service we received was outstanding, my daughter had a massive meltdown (ASD) and they were nothing but supportive, understanding and helpful. We'd had a very tough day today with meltdowns galore and this one was by far the worst of the day yet I never felt alone or judged. People like you make the biggest difference and I am so very grateful for you going out of your way to help and care. Thank you x
