We popped in at lunchtime on a Wednesday. We hadn't booked, and they were full (a good sign) however the lady who greeted us said we were welcome to eat at one of the smaller round tables by the bar, which suited us fine! The staff were very friendly and attentive! We enjoyed the fish goujon starter, and then my partner had the ploughmans salad and I had the pie. All of our food was very tasty! The salad was presented ever so nicely with so many elements! The veg with my pie was super fresh, and the pie and chips were hearty and homely! Everything was great, and the prices were very reasonable! Thankyou for squeezing us in, we can't wait to come back!

After being recommended the Bears Paw bu some good friends, my husband & I decided to give it a go for a casual lunch. Well, I wish we hadn't. The inside of the pub was very uninspiring, no atmosphere and the staff were helpful but miserable. I ordered grilled goats cheese with caramelised onion, walnuts & honey. The goats cheese was grilled to slightly warm on top cold and solid underneath, the accompaniments were basic it was very unappetising. My husband had a Prawn starter which he said he enjoyed. Mains I had salmon, ver & chips, salmon over cooked and dry, veg overcooked & tasteless, chips undercooked in the middle, very disappointed. Hubbies had sea bass, very & new potatoes. One fillet of seabass when 2 were stated on the menu, vegs over cooked and new potatoes ok. Couldn't wait to get out. :(

Sat out the back in the sheltered gazebo. It’s a sun trap. Lovely beer and the full three courses which has pushed the waistline. Sweetcorn fritters, 3 of them and crispy, roast beef served pink with extra gravy and a good horse radish. Sticky toffee pudding to finish off. Good service, never left wanting for anything. Well worth the visit here !

The Bears Paw has been a family favourite for a few years now and today was no exception. We visited to celebrate a birthday. We were warmly welcomed by Kieran, who really looked after us throughout our visit. The food is always delicious, beautifully prepared and a great choice to choose from either a set menu, main menu or specials board. Today we had duck spring rolls and cod goujons for starters and lasagne for mains (which came with a lovely mixed salad and garlic bread), all very reasonably priced. We travel for nearly an hour to dine at this Inn but it is always well worth it. We look forward to seeing you all on Mother's Day for another celebration! Many thanks

As part of our project to find the best pubs in North Cheshire, we called in the Bear's Paw last week, and what an excellent surprise ! Food was superb - I had the lamb Henry which was the best I have ever had, and my wife had the breaded pork which was delicious. Staff were very friendly, and menu prices were very respectable, especially when you consider that all the food was freshly cooked. Compared to all of the local chain pubs, where the chefs are a bunch of kids who serve food straight from the freezer to the microwave, this place is a revelation. Beer was also perfect, and before we left, we booked again !!

I have been here twice within a few days. The white painted Inn sits on the main A50 road between Knutsford and Warrington, so easy to get to with a roomy car park. The little garden is beautifully kept and the building with the look of an old farmhouse is attractive, although its large signs look out of keeping and have no apostrophe! The interior has been refurbished in tones of grey with comfy seating. It is very small inside with tables tightly close together, (I believe plans to extend have been turned down repeatedly which is ridiculous) but the acoustics are extremely good, so you can hear your group speak, but can’t hear other people. I have enjoyed the food and the lunch special menu is good value. We had to order in advance for a large group (I hate that!) so it was nice on the second visit to have free range. I would describe the food as very wholesome and think the Starters particularly good, but sorbet at £5.75 we all thought exorbitant, the main content being water. Service was ok. I will go again. It’s nice.

Pudines deliciosos! ! The staff were exceptionally accommodating of our party's varying dietary needs and it helps that food is made fresh. Fresh pouring cream in the liqueur coffee, none of this squirty artificial cream cheat and just little touches like poinsettas in the toilet, they all contribute to a modern pub with traditional values that cares about it's customers. They are flexible and personable too and it is so refreshing to find this in a world of 'computer says no'. I went to the Bears Paw for lunch with family and friends. It was my first time there but all the others had been before and spoke very highly of it. They all enjoyed their lunches and the fish and chips proved very popular. The problem for me is that I am vegetarian and although it was advertised and 'vegetarian friendly' there was very little choice. I could have a risotto with walnuts and peaches (which really didn't appeal to me- peaches and rice being a very strange combination) or baked potato with beans and cheese. I went for the baked potato and I was transported back to the bad old days of 1970's vegetarian options- soggy potato with baked beans and almost non-existent cheese. Would it have been too hard for the chef to be a bit more imaginative? There are any number of pasta dishes or Indian dishes which can be made in advance for the unexpected vegetarian diner. While I appreciate that my requirements may be annoying for chefs (Gordon Ramsey is always complaining about veggies) I was left with the impression that it would really be better if I had stayed away.

Our table was soon ready and we were quickly served with drinks. We had to wait a little time to order food, but they were busy. Between us we has roast lamb, roast beef and duck. Everyone said there food was lovely, tender meat and nicely cooked vegetables. For anyone not wanting a roast dinner there was an extensive a la carte menu and specials. Apparently the chef is the owner, and he clearly cares about what he is offering his customers. Couldn't manage more than a sorbet for desert but there were plenty of other options. We will certainly go back.

No need for dinner tonight, having had a nicely presented and generous deep fried whitebait starter, then my first ever guinea fowl, perfectly accompanied with bacon bits and leek, and freshly prepared new potatoes and vegetables. Sampled the cask ale too, so thanks to my wife for acting chauffeur. Can't finish without complementing the friendly informal staff (Pat & Jill?)

Outstanding. From the decor, the drinks to the excellent food. We were pleasantly surprised from the moment we walk in and received friendly greetings from Clair and Jill and had immediate seating despite the fact we had made no reservation. Lovely atmosphere. Great menu to choose from and food was superb!! From the soup, through the main course and including the hot waffles and ice cream for dessert. Absolutely delicious. Service was excellent, too. Don't miss this gem!!

Called for light lunch, but Specials so tempting had full main lunch. Belly Pork delicious, veg great, chips fantastic. My fiancé chose the Steak & Ale pie. Once again, fabulous. I struggled to finish and off-loaded one of my two slices of black pudding to my other half.No room for pudding, sadly! Maybe not suitable for children inside, not a lot of room, but plenty of space outside and garden area.

Drove out for tea at the Bears Paw & was not disappointed. Soon as we arrived we were sat at our table, great choice on the menu. Decided on the pie which was delicious & a good size portion. Very friendly staff. I will return.

we visited the Bears Paw for Sunday lunch having not been for a while. The food was amazing, very tasty with decent portions (huge yorkshire puddings are always a great sight). The staff were friendly and the service was attentive without being intrusive.

I drive past this pub / restaurant a lot and the car park is always busy. Finally got round to 4 of us going for dinner on Bank Holiday Monday. I only called at 5pm and they fit us in at 5.30pm.There's lovely outside space where you can enjoy the surroundings and have a drink.Inside it's mostly dining space.Decor is very traditional and quaint - very cosy. Tables quite close together so much would have been nice otherwise it feels a bit like you're eating with strangers.Very large menu with option for everyone. Plus extensive specials board. Prices very fair. Our starters were all tasty - my deep fried goats cheese (£5) was delicious! They bring some bread for the table which was nice. Main courses we had 2 substantial fish and chips, the pie special (£9) and the lamb special (£13). Everything was delicious and all plates scraped clean! Staff welcoming, loads of parking, well located and easy to find, very good prices.

As usual, we had a fantastic lunch. Its often very busy on a Friday, so it is best to book ahead. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food always freshly prepared and different - you are never stuck for choice as there is something to suit all tastes and appetites! The quality of the food is second to none and it is not expensive.

Last night 4 of us had a really good meal and some excellent beer on a very busy evening even though we had to wait about 50 mins for our food from ordering. However, nobody came at anytime to ask if everything was satisfactory. Towards 10pm at least two of the staff were intent on clearing everything from the tables and setting up for Sunday's meals. The expressions on their faces were grim and unfriendly as they busied themselves. We had a distinct feeling we were not wanted even though it is supposed to be a pub open til 11pm! I asked for the bill and was presented with a till type one which was just dropped onto the table without any comment. If you were wondering why no tip was paid then I suggest you attend to the manners of your staff and try to be more welcoming and pleasant...it doesn't cost anything you know!

We popped into today for lunch without reservation, and they were fantastic at accommodating my mum / brother 4 children and I - despite being very busy This place is a little gem, and really is a delightful Country Inn, with great atmosphere, wonderful home cooked food and charming staff who couldn't have been any better. We look forward to seeing you again in the future ! Thanks again - the Loudon Family

We had a good experience here with a party of nine people. The menu is quite extensive with plenty of choice. The staff are friendly and helpful and the pricing is good. There is a beer garden and an enclosed (small) field where the kids played football. Service feels a bit slow but the food looks freshly cooked and was worth waiting for. A definite recommend for a family meal.

What a lovely contrast to some pubs. Warm, friendly reception and service from all staff; good choice of beers, charming decor, and beautiful, beautiful food. Faultless. Will be visiting again very soon

This was a first time visit as a family group Was a bad customer experience journey as asked for a table of six - a young girl asked her colleague if they was a table of 6 where she rudely answered her colleague and pointed to her to seat us over there - where we was directed to so we sat down we explained we were waiting for 2 members to join us. Table set for 6 we were there for 10-15 mins when then we was told quite rudely that this table is booked . We were then told we could sit at another table which seem like a function room where we were those the only people in menus more of less thrown at us no place settings lights off so dim and dark. And cold Decided after being treated as thou we were an inconvenience and made to feel very uncomfortable we left but I did mention why we was leaving with the staff and look like the manager was there when I was saying first time in the pub and certainly the last had the girl arguing saying you said 4 and it was my fault more of less take or leave it. Shame as the food and pub was on recommendation- As Robinsons pub are always are a good but Wow what rude staff

Both had a Sunday dinner, roast potatoes were more like boiled, never seen a roasting tin or any oil, a dish of vegetables arrived, cabbage was mushy, carrots were definitely recycled. Only plus was the food was piping hot, would definitely not recommend sorry

We found this lovely pub a couple of months ago and we’ve now returned a few times for food. The staff are always welcoming & friendly, and we thoroughly enjoy the homemade food, and the Sunday roasts. We love the steak & ale pie, chicken tikka masala & the lasagne. The location is also beautiful.

We have been coming to the Bears Head for years and although it can be a bit hit and miss regarding the experience it has generally been OK. However, I don't if its changed ownership or they just cant get the staff but my last experience was appalling and also our family's last ever visit. We waited over 20 minutes before anyone came to the table to acknowledge our existence, the glasses were dirty, still bearing the lipstick of the previous owner. When we asked for clean glasses they were taken away and returned...still dirty. The food was inedible, with exception to the broccoli, which was the only thing that was cooked properly. The roast potatoes were so greasy that they became mush as soon as put my fork in them, the mash seemed to have been microwaved to the extreme, the cauliflower was sitting in water and completely tasteless. One member of staff, a young lad, seemed so disinterested in being there, it was almost comical. Sad to say, we will not be returning and an association that has lasted almost 20 years has come to an end.
